Particularly good battery life and if you wear it on the underside of your wrist you can make calls without a headset and it looks like you are holding thin air while making a call.

The touch screen is very good as is the music player and the interfaces.

I recommend using it with At&t and Google as they have a very good email to sms and sms to email gateway and brilliant SMS notification system and sms search system respectively.

There are no data services on the device, No email, no game, no apps and no browser.

It is very god for voice and the speaker phone is excellent. If you must use a headset then get a jawbone to go with it as the headset it comes with is very ordinary.

Beware the charging cable though, its connectors are fragile and you only get one cable with a charging clip so if you break it then you are stuck (I have a soldering iron and ended up by passing the connectors because I could not get another clip anywhere.

Another great phone from BlackBerry. I upgraded from a BlackBerry 8700c, and I love my new phone. The trackball is much easier to use than I expected. The phone is thinner and lighter than older BlackBerry phones. I also like that this BlackBerry has a camera and the ability to shoot video (although you have to insert a SD memory card to use the video feature). This phone has WiFi capabilities, but the trade-off for that is that there's no GPS so you can't use AT&T Navigator without an external GPS connection. (The new BlackBerry Curve released this year has both WiFi and GPS, which is the way it should be.) However, I still love this phone. I use the Google Maps application which pinpoints my location to the nearest cell phone tower, and has been very accurate in my experience. Overall this phone is sleek, slim, functional and easy to use. I am very happy with this phone and would definitely recommend it to a friend. My only suggestion for improvement would be to combine GPS and WiFi capabilities, and BlackBerry listened, because they just released a new Curve with both these capabilities.

This is my first Blackberry. Two years ago I bought a Razr (Cingular) on Amazon, my two year contract had been fulfilled and I was on a month to month. I was concerned about the "fine print" in Amazon's description and read other postings online from folks wondering if they would qualify. I emailed Amazon as well as AT&T and received confirmation that yes, I would qualify if I renewed a two year contract. So, having been hesitant about giving up my beloved Razr, I went for the Blackberry. And am I happy about that decision! The first few days I couldn't receive email (there was a glitch on the Blackberry end) but the wonderful customer service people at AT&T helped me resolve it.

I just got this phone about a week ago. It is a very good phone as far as i can see. The QWERTY keypad is a tad on the small side, but even large fingers can type with ease on the blackberry curve. Alot of people who get this device want to do everything on the first day. You have to take atleast 3 days to get used to the device. I have had nothing but good luck with this phone. Some say it has spotty call quality, i have noticed no difference in call quality anywhere in my area. The GPS feature of the phone is a definite plus. Once you are used to the phone and have it broken in you too, will love this phone.

I have been a fan of the PERL concept for a long time. I love the utility that the track ball brings and aids in the prevention of accidental calls when placed in your pocket, which is what you should be able to do with a compact cellular handset. I would love the Perl more if BlackBerry did not require the corporate data package in order for me to have unlimited MMS and SMS text messaging, which significantly increases the cost of ownership for an otherwise, simple and elegant handset that has the ideal dimensional profile for a consumer communication device.

PROS:
Size - for someone who would like a smartphone that is small and is willing to trade a full keyboard for it, the size is really nice
Call Quality - Voices were loud and clear
Build Quality - the phone was quite solid, though the complaint of others that the battery door feels loose is accurate; it simply didn't bother me
Battery - I'm not a "power-user" but the battery lasted for several days for me with moderate IMing and web use
Screen - bright with ambient light sensor that dims the screen when a room is dark (I should mention that the extra width of the Curve screen is nice, though)

CONS:
T-mobile service - This is the singular reason I didn't keep the 8120
Keyboard - if you're going to write a lot of emails, you may want to opt for the Curve
WiFi - If you're thinking of the 8120 since the WiFi would make up for the phone not having 3G, it really doesn't

I recently purchased the Blackberry Curve (T-Mobile),At first i was very pleased and content with my purchase. That was until one of my co-workers showed me his Pearl 8120 which is just a more compact version of the curve. Needless to say,The pearl was as simple to use and just as fast. The issue i had was that the pearl had video caption capability, which the curve did not.The bateries were the same and the picture quality were up to par. With the pearl i didn't feel like i had a brick on my hip. Allin all the curve was returned and the pearl 8120 was purchased.

First off, this is a great BlackBerry device that compares with any other BlackBerry device. Let's be honest: What you are interested in is how this phone works with VoIP over Wi-Fi. Okay, T-Mobile does offer the add-on "Hotspot@Home" service that allows unlimited calling when you choose to talk through the Wi-Fi network, but this is purely an option. This phone will still use Wi-Fi (or UMA), at the places you can access Wi-Fi, instead of using the T-Mobile cellular network... you'll just be using your plan minutes if you don't add on that unlimited option.

But, how does it actually work? Think of your home Wi-Fi router becoming another cellular tower. All cell phones "hand off" your call from one tower to the next as you drive down the highway. But with a UMA phone like this one, your home (or work) Wi-Fi becomes yet another available "tower" for your call to be handed to and from. So, start a call on Wi-Fi and walk out to the door, your call is automatically handed off to the T-Mobile tower without you noticing a thing. Started a call in your car on the way home? As soon as you walk in your front door, the call is automatically handed off to your Wi-Fi router seamlessly. As far as the phone and T-Mobile is concerned, it is no different than just driving further down the road to the next cellular tower. Yes, the phone easily connects even if your Wi-Fi requires a login (like most hotels) or the Wi-Fi signal requires WEP or WPA authentication.

I've been using my new phone for about one week and I've already burned through 250 minutes of my unlimited "Hotspot@Home" voice time through Wi-Fi, which before would have counted against my available plan minutes. You can't argue with the bottom line: this phone pays for itself almost overnight!
