Today we bring you a video review of the Samsung Flight; the smartphone that isn’t a smartphone. The Samsung Flight apparently looks and feels like a smartphone, it has a full resistive 3.2 inch touch screen and shortcut menu, full QWERTY keyboard but is a low end slider feature phone.

The Samsung Flight is a vertical slider with GSM/850/900/1800/1900, TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 2 megapixel camera, 3G, music player, and microSD expansion, measures 106 x 56 x 12.7mm and weighs in at 136 grams.

The Samsung Flight video which can be viewed below courtesy of Noah at phone dog lasts just over ten and a half minutes, and Noah gives us his impressions of the Samsung Flight feature phone in his own personalised way, so hit up the Samsung Flight video review below and enjoy.

It appears that the AT&T vs. Verizon row over 3G coverage has spilled north of the border into great white Canada with Canadian carrier Telus mounting a lawsuit against Rogers Wireless over network coverage reports an article on the globe and mail.

Apparently senior communications manager for Telus, Shawn Hall as stated that Rogers has no network advantage and shouldn’t be misleading the Canadian populace with “false superiority claims,” although it has to be said that up until Telus launched their HSPA network Rogers claims were probably accurate.

Apparently Rogers turned down a request from Telus to remove the offending ads 2 weeks ago and thus Telus has filed its lawsuit at the Supreme Court of British Columbia seeking damages, which could well hit millions of bucks if Telus is successful.

So it seems that network coverage fights aren’t just centred in the USA but can happen virtually anywhere, so I am wondering which country will be next and what carriers, any ideas?

Spec wise the Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone packs a QVGA display, optical trackpad, music player, a 2 megapixel camera, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, measures 109 x 60 x 13.9mm with a weight of 105 grams.

As for the price, well Verizon Wireless is offering the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $99.99 based on signing a two year agreement and online discount.

However; apparently the BlackBerry Curve 8530 is part of Verizon Wireless’ BOGO promotion, therefore if you opt to purchase the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $99.99 you can get another for free which at this time of the year will come in handy.

We mentioned that the Verizon HTC Passion (Dragon) release date could possibly by sometime mid December and would love to know if this is true or not, we have tried digging to see when the exact release date will be and have found nothing.

BGR has a screenshot of the HTC Sense UI-looking clock/weather widget looks like Android, the new mobile smartphone has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.0 OS and a 5-megapixel camera which makes this phone pretty good on the specs front, but we want to know more about the release date, the official one at that.

The BGR photo could be from any phone how do we really know that it is the HTC Passion (Dragon), Mid-December seems like a date we can all standby but until we here at phonesreview.co.uk receives official confirmation about the release date we will keep an open mind for a 2010 release.

If anyone out there can email us on mark@phonesreview.co.uk and shed a little light on the official release date we would be very happy indeed, if you know anymore about this handset as well that would be very much appreciated.

There have been several rumours floating the net waves that Nokia may purchase Palm; however according to an article over on redherring, a marriage between the two companies isn’t a wink in the eye yet says a Wall Street analyst.

Apparently analysts are of the opinion a combination between Nokia and Palm isn’t anywhere near happening for several reasons which include Nokia’s continuing facelifts to their Symbian OS, Nokia’s interest in open source operating systems and the high price of purchasing Palm.

Paul Costner of JP Morgan stated in an interview that Palm might be a consideration but he doesn’t believe they are, and there has been much speculation which is just premature at the moment.

Apparently Costner believes Palm could be worth two and a half times forward sales multiples which are based on valuations of related mergers. So what do you think, is a merger between Nokia and Palm likely to happen in the future?

Although the iPhone has finally broken into China via China Unicom’s 3 year deal with Apple, sales of the iPhone handset wasn’t brilliant on debut, but with hundreds of millions of subscribers across China one would thing Apple is coining it in.

However, according to an article on the WSJ, it’s not necessarily the iPhone hardware that is boosting Apple’s coffers but rather the iPhone App Store being a huge hit with the Chinese. Apparently Chairman of China Unicom, Chang Xiobing is quite satisfied with only selling 5000 iPhone handsets in its first week, while compared with the US that is quite a small quantity.

The thing is apparently iPhone users in China have thus far dragged in some 1 million dollars for Apple from legitimate iPhone applications revenue from the App Store.

There are roughly two million iPhone across China, most not via China Unicom who has forced Apple to disable WiFi on their units to comply with China’s Golden Shield Project, so most of those iPhone will be WiFi enabled via the grey market.

Those unofficial iPhones are driving Chinese users to embrace the iPhone App Store and thus produce considerable revenue for Apple, although China Unicom has said they hope to have a WiFi capable iPhone available by the year’s end.
