The Dolphin Browser Android app update went live today and is now at version 10, this is now available via the Google Play Store and it brings a few good features worth noting.

After this new update we have seen prompt comments on a few other websites that debates the Dolphin Browser is better than Chrome.

The new update now adds a better UI design and users can now add popular web apps straight to the home screen thanks to the new ‘Web App Store’, the home screen now supports drag & drop grouping of speed dials into folders as well as 60+ speed dial slots.

There is a new feature called ‘Dolphin Key’ and this allows the single swipe action to access the tab list, browser menu or Gesture/Sonar, Flash support can be re-enabled in settings, as well as the ability to search directly within Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, eBay, Amazon or YouTube from the URL bar.

The theme and night mode has also been updated thanks to the v10 update; you can install the updated versions from Google Play.

The improvements are great and we wanted to know what users think of the Dolphin Browser update, so we went hunting and the comments on Droid Life seem rather interesting. One comment said – Why Dolphin? And they replied saying it has LastPass as a plugin and Chrome does not have any extensions yet, and that is why they use Dolphin as their daily browser for sites that require logins.

Another commenter said that Chrome’s bookmark organization is pitiful and Dolphin beats them in this category, we have also noticed on many occasions users said Dolphin is more responsive than Chrome.

Do you use Dolphin Browser or Chrome?

However, for those in Russia the Sony Xperia ZR will cost 23,990 Rubles, which is about £483 ($749 US).

Sony Xperia ZR specs include a 4.6-inch HD Reality Display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, can be submerged in water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, and also comes running Android jelly bean.

Other features include a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, microSD card slot for up to 64GB cards, 8GB of built in storage, 2GB of RAM and a 2300 mAh battery. It also has a feature called ‘Battery Stamina’ and this will provide more standby time by up to four times, which works by closing apps that would suck the batteries life.

Some would say this is pricey for the Sony Xperia ZR, but for the specs we see it as reasonable and competitively priced, the specs are above average and we can see this doing very well in Russia.

That is all we have on the Sony Xperia ZR release for Russia for now, please do let us know if you live in Russia and will be purchasing the Xperia ZR?

Sounds great right, well we have found that both Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U are offering the freebie with the stunning smartphone.

You can get your hands on both the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 at the same time, all you need to do is pre-order now.

Carphone Warehouse is offering the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini for from £26 per month, but they are also offering a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 if you opt for the £47 per month on T-mobile, which will give you 2000 minutes, Anytime Any network, Unlimited MB data and Unlimited texts – when you visit the Carphone Warehouse page, on the right of the smartphone photo you will see contracts and under that is a link saying “Free gifts available” just click there and off you go.

Phones 4U are also offering the smartphone with a free Galaxy Tab 2, the handset will be free on contract from only £27 a month. If you choose the LTE 4G contract with EE for £36 a month you will get the Tab 2 with it if you pre-order now. For more details and please read all the fine print, click the relevant link – Samsung Galaxy S4 mini in white / black

The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini is no slouch, it is a decent smartphone featuring a 4.3-inch 960×540 Super AMOLED display, 1.5GB of RAM, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8-megapixel camera, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and 8GB of internal storage.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will be available in July, and when it is you can choose the free Tab 2 to go with it, at a price of course.

Samsung seems to be playing the strategy game again, first the Jay Z album giveaway and now a free Galaxy Tab 2, all good for the consumer at the end of the day. In a way it makes sense to give away free Galaxy Tab 2’s considering the Galaxy Tab 3 was recently announced.

Will you be getting the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini?

The strategy behind the Jay Z and Samsung mobile deal is a plan that will work well for both parties, it all sounds easy when you say Samsung purchased 1-million “Magna Carta Holy Grail” albums by Jay Z with lucky Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2 owners getting it 72 hours before the official release date, but this is a strategy worth looking into.

We explained about the new Samsung and Jay Z deal and when July 4th arrives the first one million Samsung Galaxy owners that downloaded the album app called “Magna Carta Holy Grail” will be treated to a free copy of the new album, so now we want to look a little deeper into this.

On June 24th owners of the devices mentioned above will be able to download the new album app via the Google Play Store, and once the app is installed on your device one million of you will be chosen on July 4th and those picked will get the album for free. If you are chosen you will be able to listen to the album within the app.

The new “Magna Carta Holy Grail” album will be released on July 4, which is three days before the official release date for one million Samsung smartphone owners. It has been suggested Samsung paid around $5 for each album but this has not been disclosed, if it is in fact true then that means Samsung spent $5 million for the exclusivity.

This means 1-million copies would have been sold before the official release, so will this be added to the billboard of the first-week sales of the album?

This only applies to the handsets mentioned above and will not work on any other Android device, Jay Z is getting his name everywhere, and recently at the NBA Finals the album teaser was heard. If you think about it, not only is Jay Z using strategy we believe Samsung is doing so as well. Everyone wishes to take a slice out of iTunes, which is the worlds largest music place to download tracks, albums etc. If Samsung can make a habit of this and give away free albums to its handset owners, it would turn out to be the best publicity for both parties.

Jay Z’s Samsung mobile deal is more like an event rather than a normal release, it looks like Samsung is taking a little piece at a time from the Apple mobile market, and having big names like Jay Z on board with his proven business record it could mean the words “Samsung Jay Z” being a household name for Samsung and consumers.

It is all about getting more customers and what better way to do it by offering a free album, the app will be installed by tens of million Samsung owners in the hope to get the free album, it is a win-win situation for both Samsung, Jay Z and of course the consumer.

Samsung gains more customers, the app gets millions of downloads, Jay Z’s album gets recognised before the official release and if it all seems to go smoothly many more artists will follow suit. Millions of customers would prefer a free album rather than paying, Samsung pays Jay Z and other artists for the albums, Samsung makes more money in handset sales, and this is all down to consumers liking free stuff, and places such iTunes where you have to pay starts to lose out, could this really happen?

Is there more to this Jay Z and Samsung mobile deal strategy? Please watch the video below titled “Inside “Magna Carta Holy Grail” with JAY Z + Samsung.”

We had previously seen some leaked images of the Butterfly S, and now it has been revealed in all its glory at the event. The phone is powered by a 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, and has a 5-inch full HD display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. It runs the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system skinned with HTC Sense 5.

Further specs include the impressive UltraPixel camera with the Zoe feature as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing wide-angle camera. As with the UltraPixel camera of the HTC One, people shouldn’t be put off by a low-megapixel count as the UltraPixel camera captures 300% more light than most other smartphone camera sensors, making it particularly good in low-light conditions.

There’s also Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, NFC and GPS. Music lovers will also appreciate the front-facing BoomSound stereo peakers, and the HTC Butterfly S also has quad-band HSPA/WCDMA radio and a nicely sizeable 3200 mAh battery. The phone is available in red, white or gray but is thicker than its Butterfly predecessor, mainly because of the battery. Dimensions are 144.5mm x 70.5mm x 10.6mm, and it weighs 160 grams.

This smartphone is due to release in July for Taiwan and other Asia Pacific markets with a price of NT $22,900 (or approximately $766). Details of a launch in other regions, if any, have not been given yet. You can see a first look of the HTC Butterfly S in a video that we’ve embedded for you below this story.

On first impressions this looks to be a significant improvement over the first-generation HTC Butterfly, and we feel many people would like to be able to get their hands on it. Why not check out the video and let us have your comments about this phone. Are you likely to purchase the HTC Butterfly S if it releases in your region?

The recently announced Huawei Ascend P6 has now been given a UK price with delivery coming shortly.

As expected the company unveiled its new Ascend P6 yesterday at a special press event in London, England. During the event it was suggested the handset would have an unlocked price of around €449, but now high street retailer Carphone Warehouse has listed the Huawei Ascend P6 for a SIM free price of £329.95.

The company also has the handset available on pay monthly deals that gets you the P6 for free from £21 per month on Vodafone, and there are also offers for other UK carriers at varying prices. To recap the Huawei Ascend P6 features a 4.7-inch HD display on a smartphone that only measures 6.18mm thick and can be used with gloves.

This is powered by a quad core 1.5GHz processor that is coupled with 2GB of RAM running the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. There is an 8-megapixel rear facing camera capable of Full HD video capture while around the front is a 5-megapixel shooter.

Storage wise there is only 8GB internally but luckily this can be expanded thanks to microSD card support, in a handset that weighs in at only 120grams. The Carphone Warehouse has the P6 down for delivery on July 4th so you won’t have to wait long if you fancy having the world’s thinnest smartphone in your pocket.

Do you think this is a good price for the Huawei Ascend P6?

There are millions of us who love our cats and think they are the best pets in the world, and today we have some details of a new app that enables you to show just how adorable they are to everyone. The Snapcat – For cats, by cats app is for Android devices and is a cat alternative to SnapChat.

Snapcat actually enables your cat to take photos of itself, and if this seems improbable then allow me to explain. Once you’ve downloaded the app a red dot will appear on the display of your device. The idea is that if you show this to your cat they will become so captivated that they will tap the screen which will then trigger the front-facing camera, and hey presto, your cat has taken a photo of itself.

After the photo is taken then you can add stickers from Aviary or filters, and when you’re happy with the finished article you can then share it on Twitter, Facebook and EyeEm social networks. If you want to see more about the app or download it, you can do so from Google Play here. The bonus is that Snapcat is a free app, and it’s compatible with devices running Android 4.0 or later, so why not check it out.

The idea is neat but my own cat was more interested in rubbing her face on my phone rather than tapping the display, although your pet may be more obliging. Will you be heading to Google Play to get Snapcat? We’d be interested in how your cat gets on with the Snapcat app, so let us know by sending your comments.

We have a free game for you today that is called Battleship Ocean Islands War for the iPhone, which is a scrolling retro style space shooter.

The game was recently released to the App Store and is a vertical scrolling type of space shooter, which instead of featuring the usual black background it looks more like an ocean hence the name. The ships in the game are bigger than you usual space shooter as well that add more realism to the title.

There is both single and multi player gameplay available with the arcade game allowing players to navigate their space ship horizontally and vertically via direct touch control. Firing is automatic as you progress destroying your enemy while avoiding obstacles, and you can collect coins that will help you get power ups and upgrades to your space ship.

It is a fast paced game with stunning graphics that have been optimized for the Retina display, which are accompanied by some great weapons and engaging sound effects and music. There is Facebook and Twitter connectivity along with Game Center leaderboards and challenges.

Battleship Ocean Islands War is available worldwide free on the App Store for owners of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later and check out the demo video we have embedded below.

Back in March Samsung revealed to the world the Galaxy S4 with the handset quickly being released in a number of regions as the company looks to build on the success it saw with last year’s model. There have been a lot of comparisons made with the device and we are now revisiting the Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Galaxy S3 in some visual reviews.

We compared the specifications of the two devices shortly after the Galaxy S4 was announced, and earlier this month we also compared both the mini versions of the two handsets, but today we want to look at the full sized versions to see what has changed since the Galaxy S 3 was released last year.

As it can be seen in the first video is that both handsets look pretty similar from a distance while the S3 has a slightly more curved form factor. Obviously the biggest change is the Full HD display of the new model that has also been increased up from 4.8-inch to 5-inches, and the S4 is 3grams lighter despite this increase in screen size.

Pixel density is a major difference with the S3 having 306ppi compared to the 441ppi of the Galaxy S4, which obviously is noticeable in use. Another improvement on the S4 screen is the ability to use the display while wearing cloves, which for many smartphone users can be a problem in winter.

In use both handsets booted up in around the same time but the S4 was slightly quicker when browsing the Internet and loading demanding pages, and there are also some side by side comparisons in the camera quality.

The next video also goes through the differences between the two devices including all the cosmetic changes and how both handsets feel in the palm of your hand. It was decided that if you don’t need the fastest available handset on the market the S3 is still good enough, but the S4 comes in to its own when using high demand apps and games.

As we found in our recent review of the Galaxy S4 the device is undoubtedly better than the older model, but that’s not to say everyone that owns the Galaxy S3 should rush out to upgrade to the newer model, with many of the improvements focusing on new software features with many of them eventually being ported over to the old handset anyway.

The final video we have for you is focusing on the popular Premium Suite of features and Multi-Window, which allows users to run two applications at the same time on the display. On the Galaxy S4 the feature works slightly differently and is obviously helped by the slightly larger display.

We’ve been passing on all of the news, leaks and rumors regarding the upcoming Apple iPhone 5S smartphone. On this occasion we have some images to show you that are purported to be of the iPhone 5 display assembly, alongside the same for the iPhone 5S.

Just yesterday we informed readers about a leaked display and logic board said to be from the iPhone 5S, and these latest images make it easy to compare the iPhone 5 display assembly against the iPhone 5S. The high-resolution pictures that you can see in this story were recently posted from a source that claims to have managed to get their hands on the iPhone 5S part, even though it is a few months until we expect a release of the smartphone.

In fact, even the name of the next iPhone has not been confirmed as the iPhone 5S, with some dubbing it the iPhone 6, but these samples have referred to the device as the 5S. The new images tie up with the previous leaked images of components although at this stage it’s not possible to tell if the display assembly shown is from a prototype, a production model, or merely a mock-up.

These are very clear images, with no shadows or other obstructions, and that could be an indication that they may not be what they seem. They were taken with a prosumer D-SLR with no flash, according to the photo data, and that means a light box is likely to have been used. If we assume they are the real deal though, then the display assembly of the iPhone 5S looks virtually the same as on the iPhone 5, although the flex cable looks different.

Before a new Apple device is launched we usually see more and more leaked components and rumors about specs, and so we are likely to see much more of this kind of thing over the next few months. The iPhone 5S does look likely to have an improved processor and camera, and it will run on the newly introduced iOS 7. Another possible inclusion is a fingerprint reader, and we have seen speculation and leaks about this several times now.

Of course we’ll be keeping our noses to the ground and will keep readers up-to-date with further leaks and news about this device. While we wait we’d like to have your comments on the iPhone 5S. Do you feel these images are likely to be real parts of the phone? What new specs or features would you like to see on the next iPhone?

This new Meltdown Update for Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour will blow you away; we believe this will be the last major iOS update before the new Modern Combat 5 release, which is expected later this year.

MC4 is a stunning FPS game that has console-like graphics, and the gameplay is immense pushing new limits in the way you play a game. You obviously know that you are an elite soldier that has to rescue the world’s leaders from the terrorist group.

The new Meltdown update for MC4 is free for those who own the game, this is massive and we will now explain what the update includes – are you ready?

New Maps
The Meltdown update has 3 new maps including Fracture: Barcelona Train Station, Backfire: Barcelona Streets and Extraction: Antarctica Research Facility.

New Perks
The new demolition specialization with 7 new perks includes: ‘Ammo Pack‘ that can carry 50% more ammunition, there is also ‘Readied Shot’ that allows the gamer to crouch to boost accuracy, and then there is ‘Dedication’ because dying from explosions doesn’t reset your streak. We also like the new ‘Gun Expert’ for increased reload speeds, other perks include Sentry: Place sinister traps, One Last Thing: Drop a grenade whenever you die, and Paragon Destroyer: Trigger deadly explosions when shooting machinery.

New Weapons
The new weapons now include the SFS CTK-12 Charbtek Special Forces sniper rifle, and the 40mm Thor GLP – Grenade Launcher Pistol.

New Team Multiplayer Modes
Yes, at last the update has added ‘Bomb Squad’ this is a new mode where attackers must plant bombs, but remember! Make sure it blows up before the defenders can defuse it. The other multiplayer mode is ‘Destruction’ where attackers have to sabotage a series of devices while the defenders try to put a stop to it.

The update also brings many improvements such as the option to edit your signature to display your clan prefix, players can also select the random quick match by where you play a ranked game in the first mode available, the update now includes Turkish language support.

Android gamers will have to wait for the Meltdown update, the only Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour update is the one that went live today, but this has only added game services and Google+ support. We will let you know when the Android Meltdown update goes live.

Are you excited about the new Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour major Meltdown iOS update?

If you own the BlackBerry Z10 you might want to consider updating your smartphone, BlackBerry issued the security advisory on 06-11-2013, but just in case you have not had this warning we will explain a little about it.

BlackBerry issued the security warning advisory to Z10 owners after a major problem that could potentially allow hackers to steal your phones data, once they are in they have full control over the touchscreen BB Z10, this means they would have access to your password the BlackBerry Hub and many other functionalities.

The Main Impact
Hackers could gain access to the devices password if a remote password reset command had been issued through the BlackBerry Protect website, the worst is where users would have to install a specially crafted malicious app, enable BlackBerry Protect and reset the device password through BlackBerry Protect. Plus they can prevent the BlackBerry Z10 from acting on BlackBerry Protect commands, such as a remote smartphone wipe.

What to do!
You should install the latest 10.0.10.648 software update on your BlackBerry Z10, if you are still using BlackBerry 10 version 10.0.10.261 then you could potentially be at risk from the security bug. You should update as soon as you can before installing apps, if you do decide to install apps then do this with caution.

Go into your BlackBerry Z10 notifications and see if you have the update, if you do not have it in notifications just search for it manually from the home screen, swipe the screen downwards from the top and then tap Settings and the Software Updates, the Check for Updates. If it does not show an update then you will be happy to know you already have BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.0.10.648 installed.

Please let us know if you were affected in anyway before the new BlackBerry Z10 update?

We’ve been giving readers some news about the upcoming Microsoft Surface RT tablet refresh. It’s rumored that this will be smaller in size than the current version, and we recently discussed possibly pricing of the device. At that time it looked as though it could feature the NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip, but a new report involves speculation that the next-generation Microsoft Surface RT will have a Qualcomm processor.

The current Surface RT uses the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, but it now seems more likely that Qualcomm will provide the chipsets used in the refreshed Surface. However, NVIDIA doesn’t seem to have been put entirely out of picture as sources said to be “people with knowledge of the company’s plans,” say that the company will continue to supply for “some versions.” This move is likely to come later in the year, and as the new Surface RT has not yet been made official this is certainly plausible.

There is also talk that testing is currently being carried out on Windows RT 8.1 Surface devices using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. This is interesting as this chip has integrated LTE connectivity, so this could be a bonus for the upcoming refresh.

Presently existing supplies of Surface RT tablets are being cleared at low prices, so this along with news of Qualcomm’s involvement implies that Microsoft could be aiming at a fall release of the new Surface hardware, at a time to coincide with Windows RT 8 and Windows 8.1. We’ll keep you informed of further developments on this as we hear anything.

In the meantime we’d appreciate your thoughts on the Surface RT refresh. Are you interested in the possibility of a smaller 8-inch Surface RT? If so, do you think the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 possibility adds more appeal? Send us your comments on this.

One of the most successful smartphones right now is the recently released Samsung Galaxy S4. We’ve also recently discussed the Micromax Canvas 4 although information on specs for this device is so far rather thin on the ground. Today we thought we’d look at the Micromax Canvas 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 in competitiveness.

Some tech sites are suggesting that the Micromax Canvas 4 is a real competitor to the Galaxy S4, and we wondered if this was indeed the case. This is not meant to be a detailed specs comparison, but to give you some idea the specs of the Galaxy S4 include a 1.6GHz octa-core processor or 1.9GHz quad-core processor, dependent on region. It also has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1920 x 1080, 2GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal memory (expandable). As well as this there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and 2600 mAh battery, while the operating system is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

On the other hand, as we previously said, the specs of the Micromax Canvas 4 are a little sketchy, as they have not yet been confirmed. However, rumors suggest some high-end smartphone specs such as an octa-core processor, at a budget price. We do know that there will be a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, as this is shown on a teaser, and the same teaser videos also suggested an extensive battery life. The display looks to be around 5-inches, and it could launch running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

It seems that the fact that Micromax has called this phone the Canvas 4 has led some to believe that it will rival the Galaxy S4, but could this really be the case? It seems unlikely considering the several factors you below.

Specs-wise the Galaxy S4 looks likely to win out on processor as well as internal storage space. Although the Canvas 4 could have an octa-core processor it may not be as effective as the Exynos used in the Galaxy S4 as the cores may be utilized differently. The lowest amount of internal memory on the Galaxy S4 is 16GB and we don’t yet know this for the Canvas 4. However the Canvas HD A116 has 4GB, and so even if Micromax doubles this it would still be less. Also the Micromax Canvas 4 display is rumored to be HD, but it would have to be full HD to match the Galaxy S4 rather than 720p.

Moving on to price this has not yet been specified for the Canvas 4, but the Galaxy S4 is a high-end device with a price to match. However, the Canvas 4 is intended to be a low-cost smartphone for an entirely different target audience, and so this is likely to be reflected in the specs on offer.

Talking about this leads us to the point that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is crammed full of software feature that are a real bonus. Consider some of them, such as Air Gesture, Dual Video calls, and Dual Camera mode, and you get an idea of how much is on offer. The Micromax Canvas 4 is unlikely to be able to replicate many of the features supplied with the Galaxy S4, because of both the cost and the fact that software features are not one of Micromax’s strong points.

Pre-orders for the Micromax Canvas 4 begin on June 28, with a release anticipated for shortly afterwards, so hopefully it won’t be too much longer until we know for sure whether this will be a viable rival to the Samsung Galaxy S4. At this initial stage we have to say it looks unlikely, but we are always open to being pleasantly surprised and proven wrong. We’ll pass on all the news to readers about confirmed specs for the Canvas 4 as we hear further developments.
