The Nokia N91 8GB has been used to capture the retiring sun on the city of Bengaluru. It's simply spectacular. The only thing that the Nseries miss is an inbuilt GPS & Auto Focus, but in all a great shot. Its a good guide for those who have high speed internet connection and want their media to have the same quality as it was recorded with. Just read along below for a quick guide on how to do that. We took out the main points here for you, so if you need a more detailed guide then please jump over here for Steve's post.

Garbage in, garbage out, obviously. So make your video captures as good as possible. The usual suspects apply here. Shoot in sunlight if possible, try not to shoot into the sun, shoot subjects at an appropriate focus point, depending on your device (the N82 is good at close-ups/people, the N96 [and N85 etc] are preset to focus on more distant objects - annoyingly).

Having uploaded your file, there's a short wait while YouTube's servers 'process' it. In practice, this means re-encoding it to their own Flash video format. It's also quite low resolution (QVGA?), so the first trick is to wait a little longer. YouTube's servers have spotted the fact that you've uploaded a high resolution video and have set to work doing a second encode, this time to a much higher resolution. An hour or so after the video first goes live, a 'Watch in high quality' link pops up below the main video window and viewers can then choose to switch to the higher bandwidth, higher quality version if they like.

Click on the little gear wheel icon besides the embedding code. Choose the largest of the possible embedding frame sizes. This just happens to be 640 pixels wide, perfect for your new videos.

Congratulations to Matthew!

Well, the jury decided Matthew the man behind Nokia Daily News as the winner. These are simple tricks, hacks or guides that will help you click exceptionally amazing pictures. We all have been using our cell phone cameras and many a times we end up clicking pictures which go blur or which could have been clicked better. With the new wave of Nseries and Eseries devices we have now been provided with a lot of functions which we hardly use. A part of this series is the Black & White pictures on which I did a post.

This post will reintroduce you guys to the use of GRID LINES in your device. While you turn on your camera, enable the grid lines from the right options bar. Now why do we need these lines? Well, let me tell you something first;

Focal points are the areas of interest in a photograph. If you are taking a portrait, the obvious area of interest is the eyes of the person. If you are taking a landscape it could be a house in the foreground.

So don’t put the areas of interest in the middle of the photograph. Most people do. Phontographs work better when the area (or areas) of interest are placed off center. And this is where the Grid Lines come in.

With the above picture in as an example, just use the points of interest to lie on the corners on the center square formed by the crossing lines of the grid. In this case I made the vegetables to lie on the left corner of the center square. Also note that the building on the right is parallel to the right vertical grid line and the tomatoes below are parallel to the horizontal grid line. Finally the cycle at the bottom right. Thus with this in mind you can click amazing pictures by keeping your points of interest at proper location.

Phontography Tips And Tricks - Black & White Pictures Guide

Phontography is the next generation revolution and every second somewhere in the world a picture is being clicked using a mobile phone camera. With a small list of Mobile Photography tips we told you all about before I am here starting a series of posts on how to achieve maximum results from your mobile device camera. I wanted to start this series by bringing in two colours which ironically are not considered as colours, these are Black and White. In this post I will try to highlight on how you can click some insanely awesome and at the same time retro pictures using your mobile device camera. I have used Nokia N95 8GB and N96 for the following pictures with a little tweaking from the in present customization options and have achieved exceptionally amazing results.

First of all you all need to explore the options that are present in camera mode. The ones that I used to achieve the results were

1. Macro
2. Black & White
3. Exposure

With these three, I have been able to click pictures that were very unique and at the same time very appealing. A lot many times we feel that we need to have a higher mega pixel count in order to obtain better results. Well, while agree to this but only partially. I have experienced 1 MP, 2 MP, 3.2 MP and finally the 5 MP camera range of Nokia devices and by far I can say that it only helps in determining the size of the picture (i.e. the resolution) before it starts to break into its various pixels. The point that makes a difference is Focus. (click pictures for larger view.)

The latest devices are equipped with an Auto Focus feature which is simple but very important function of the camera. If you have been using a device with one then you know but one should not relay totally on it. You should manually focus the object you want to picture by pressing the camera button half-way down which will turn the centre box of the viewfinder green or red depending on the distance between you and the subject being focussed. So practice with this feature to get a hang of it and this will sure prove useful.

With these basic tips you should now explore the Macro Option. In many cases it will be labeled as Close-up Mode. (To activate this mode go to the Scene Modes options on the left navigation bar, when you switch to camera mode.) This gives you the ability to focus near by objects from a close distance up to 10 cm. Thus making the subject as foreground and rest as the hazy background. The object really comes prominent and alive with this technique. (Tip: Please note that select the Macro option before you make further changes.)

Next you can select Black & White from the Color Tone Option. This is simple and self explanatory. You can also try other color tone modes if you like.

After this tweak with the exposure, usually in the positive side up to 1.7, may be less or more depending upon the light and the subject you want to picture. Move around your subject and take advantage of different light and angles.

Use the props around you tables, chairs, flowers.

Go in close, always closer than you think. For example, if you're taking a head shot, you should be no more than an arm-length away.

Don't be a skyscraper to children kneel down or crouch so you're on their level.

Only get fussy about composition if you've got the time. Its fair enough to take photos that are missing arms and legs.

Things that are no longer considered wrong a bit of blur, a spot of red eye, an odd angle to the shot.

You don't always have to use the viewfinder — hold the camera in front of you or above your head to take the shot.

Explore the cameras functions like the macro lens for closeups, or different effects like sepia tones or black and white.

Remember … small is beautiful. You can carry your handset with you all the time so your cameras handy when you need it.

Don't worry about editing when you're out and about. Sift through your photos later on.

Use your imagination there's no film to waste and practice makes better photos.

Taking pictures doesn't cost anything. Always take several images and sort through them later.

Nokia N95 8GB Secondary Camera Rediscovered + Show Us Your Wow!

Hello Everyone, This is the continuation part of my Secondary Camera Rediscovered Post on S60BLOG.
