All'interno dello studio il tempo pare essersi fermato...

È incredibile come a volte il tempo passi in fretta.
Quando vi ho parlato per la prima volta (vedi qui) della “Vela di Calatrava”, era il 2012!

Alcuni mesi fa ho avuto modo di andare a visitare il sito, e di scattare un (bel) po’ di foto…

Non so se le foto rendano giustizia alle dimensioni della struttura che, se completata, sarà una delle più grandi e maestose del globo.

Il cantiere è fermo da anni, ma non è “abbandonato”, in pratica è “sospeso” in una sorta di limbo.
Ora tra Giubileo e candidatura alle olimpiadi, sembra che qualcosa stia cominciando a muoversi.

La cosa stupefacente, e che è possibile capire solo visitando il sito, è che le opere in cemento sono tutte completate!
Ah, una cosa che ho scoperto solo durante la visita, è che le “vele” saranno 2, una contrapposta all’altra!

It's amazing how sometimes the time passes quickly.

When I told you about the "Calatrava Sail" for the first time (see here), was the 2012!

Some months ago I could visit the site and take some photos (a lot of!) ...

I don't know if the photos do justice to the size of the structure which, if completed, will be one of the largest and most majestic of the globe.

The yard is at a standstill since years, but is not "abandoned", it is "suspended" in a sort of limbo.

Now, between Jubilee and nomination to the Olympics, it seems that something is beginning to move.

The amazing thing, and you can figure it out only by visiting the site, is that the concrete works are all completed!

Ah, one thing that I discovered only during the visit, is that the "sails" will be 2, one opposed to the other!

Roma è piena di locali notturni.

Tra i tanti, il Rising Love è uno di quelli più all'avanguardia in fatto di cultura musicale e di clubbing.
Il locale sembra possedere una vocazione naturale per tutto ciò che è underground, dalla musica elettronica al reagge, dall'indie-rock al dub, passando per arte contemporanea e teatro.

Sin dalla facciata dell'edificio si percepisce la sua natura underground, che prosegue all'interno dove il rosso (il colore della passione) domina su tutto.

Nella cultura pop moderna italiana, poteva mancare un riferimento ai manga e agli anime?

Ovvio che no, ed ecco quindi all'ingresso pronto ad accoglierci un possente e minaccioso Uomo Tigre!

P.S: sono passati ben 5 mesi dal mio ultimo post, e nel frattempo ho fatto davvero molte foto .
Vediamo se riesco a farvele vedere tutte....

Rome is full of night clubs.

Among others, the Rising Love is one of the most cutting edge of music culture and clubbing.
The restaurant seems to have a natural vocation for all that is underground, from electronic music to reagge, from indie-rock to dub, through contemporary art and theater.

Right from the front of the building you can feel its underground nature, which continues inside where the red (the color of passion) rules over all.

In modern Italian pop culture, could it be missing a reference to the manga and anime?

Of course not, and so here's at the entrance, ready to welcome, a mighty and menacing Tiger Man!

PS: 5 months have passed since my last post, and in the meantime I really made a lot of photos.
Let's see if I can let you see all ....

Questa estate ho avuto modo di partecipare allo Spotter Day tenutosi a Pratica di Mare.

In pratica sono andato assieme a un gruppo di fotografi a scattare foto a bordo pista durante le prove di volo di aerei militari.

E cosi, col mio 55-300 mi sono ritrovato in mezzo a bestioni di ben altro calibro.

Ma sono riuscito anche io a portare a casa qualche foto .

Come ad esempio questo take off di un F-16 Falcon del "Solo Display Team" della "Belgian Air Force".

This summer I had the opportunity to participate in the Spotter Day held in Pratica di Mare.

In fact, I went with a group of photographers taking pictures on the airfild during the flight test of military aircrafts.

And so, with my 55-300, I found myself in the midst of a very different kind of "beasts" (very large tele) .

I also managed to bring home some photos.

Such as this take-off of an F-16 Fighting Falcon of the "Solo Display Team" - "Belgian Air Force."

Passeggiando sul Tevere si fanno strani incontri..

Ad esempio ci si può imbattere nelle opere di William Kentridge, uno dei nomi più importanti della scena contemporanea internazionale.

La particolarità di questi "murales" è che essi nascono attraverso la pulitura selettiva della patina di smog che annerisce le pareti dei muraglioni del Tevere.

Niente vernice, stencil o spray quindi, ma un'opera destinata a dissolversi con il tempo, sotto gli effetti dell’inquinamento... e ritornare così alle origini!

Walking along the Tiber you will make strange encounters ..

For example you can encounter the works of William Kentridge, one of the biggest names in the contemporary international scene.

The peculiarity of these "murals" is that they arise through the selective cleaning the patina of smog that blackens the walls of the embankments of the Tiber.

No paint, stencil or spray then, but a work destined to fade with time, under the effects of pollution ... and so back to the origins!

Malala Yousafzai by Kobra

Se percorrete Via Prenestina per uscire da Roma, al civico 913 vi imbatterete in questa bellissimo murales.

La foto probabilmente non rende giustizia all'opera, che occupa uno spazio di 20 metri per 8!

Ma perché proprio al civico 913? Beh, una volta li c'era una fabbrica di salumi (Fiorucci), ma nel 2009 questo spazio dismesso è stato occupato e nasce così Metropoliz, la città meticcia.
E' da 5 anni ormai, che circa 200 famiglie di rom, peruviani, nordafricani e altre "minoranze" convivono nell'ex fabbrica.

Ed è proprio a Metropoliz che nel 2012 nasce il MAAM Museo dell'Altro e dell'Altrove, da un’idea di Giorgio de Finis (antropologo e agitatore culturale).

Il murales è opera di Eduardo Kobra, 38 anni, brasiliano di San Paolo. Kobra, è un artista che si muove negli spazi urbani: dalle favelas (a Rio ha dipinto l’intero Complexo do Alemao) ai muri delle metropoli, da Los Angeles a Miami.

Al Maam, Kobra ha voluto lasciare la sua idea di pace. “In tutti i contesti difficili con i quali mi sono confrontato mi sono accorto che la sofferenza, la miseria, come del resto il benessere, si portano sempre dietro un carico di violenza… La soluzione? Penso che non ci si possa aspettare nulla dai grandi sistemi, dai governi, ma che in situazioni così estreme sia il più forte a dovere aiutare il più debole”.

La ragazza ritratta nel murales è la giovane studentessa pakistana Malala Yousafzai, famosa per il suo impegno per l'affermazione dei diritti civili e per il diritto all'istruzione (diritto negato alle donne dai talebani).

P.S. Kobra è stato scelto da Hillary Clinton per la campagna per le prossime Presidenziali americane.

If you walk down Via Prenestina, to leave Rome, at number 913 you'll come across this beautiful mural.

The photo probably does not do justice to the work, which occupies an area of 20 meters by 8.

(But) Why at number 913? Well, once there was a sausage factory (Fiorucci), but in 2009 this abandoned space was occupied and thus was born Metropoliz, the mestizo city.
it is now 5 years, that nearly 200 families of Rom, Peruvians, North Africans and other "minorities", are living in the former factory.

And it was at Metropoliz that, in 2012, was founded the MAAM Museo dell'Altro e dell'Altrove (Museum of the Other and the Elsewhere), from an idea by Giorgio de Finis (anthropologist and cultural agitator).

The mural is the work of Eduardo Kobra, 38, Brazilian from Sao Paulo. Kobra is an artist who moves into urban spaces: from the favelas (in Rio has painted the entire Complexo do Alemao) to the walls of cities, from Los Angeles to Miami.

At Maam, Kobra wanted to leave his idea of peace. "In all difficult situations with which I was confronted, I realized that the suffering, misery, like the rest of the club, you always bring back a load of violence ... The solution? I do not think we can expect anything from large systems, by governments, but that in such extreme situations is as strong a duty to help the weak."

The girl portrayed in the mural is the young Pakistani student Malala Yousafzai, famous for her commitment to the affirmation of civil rights and the right to education (right denied to women by the Taliban).

P.S. Kobra was chosen by Hillary Clinton's campaign for the upcoming American presidential elections.

Quello nella foto è solo uno dei tanti barconi ormeggiati sulle sponde del Tevere. Al calar del sole questi barconi si animano e prendono letteralmente vita, tra mille luci, buon cibo e musica! Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita mi ritrovai in una selva oscura... Ok, la situazione qui è diversa. Sono sul un tetto di un palazzo e l'unica luce, oltre a quella del quartiere sottostante, proveniva da quella porta. L'unica via di fuga da un mondo immerso nell'oscurità... :-P	In the middle of the journey of our life I came to myself within a dark wood Ok, the situation here is different. I'm on a roof of a building and the only light in addition to that of the underlying district, came from that door. The only escape from a world plunged into darkness .. :-)

Tram Depot

Immagino che Roma non sia l'unica città in cui viaggiano dei tram storici dove è possibile anche cenare a bordo, magari ascoltando buona musica...

Qualche settimana fa ho partecipato a un workshop fotografico tenuto proprio su uno di questi tram.

Ho così avuto modo di entrare nel deposito, conoscere la band, assistere alla loro preparazione.

Insomma un vero e proprio backstage!
