Major Group Show for Photo-Genesis Artists in Virginia

The Photo-Genesis International Photography Exhibit is now showing at the Slemp gallery in Big Stone Gap, VA. It will run from Saturday, August 25th through Friday, October 19th. The show was curated by Timothy Burns and sponsored by Mountain empire Community College and their Art Department Chair, Ms. Alice Harrington. Thirty-five artists chosen from the site are included in the show. There are representatives from Sweden, Finland, Norway, England, France, Germany, Belgium, New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and the States. We hope all who attend will find this as rewarding an experience as all of the artists involved have found it to be.

Our Featured Photographer for September '07 is Christine Sauvaire. Christine is from France and richly deserves the honor of being selected this month's Featured Photographer. Her work is always of the highest caliber and inspiring to all of his here at the site..

Gallery Updates

We're constantly adding new photographers and upgrading the performance of the site in general. You'll notice that the connection speed is now major fast since our move to a corporate account hosted by GoDaddy. We've also added some new, amazing photographers to our list. Among them is Rarindra Prakarsa from Indonesia. You have to check out his new gallery. His control of light is exquisite! I know all of us are looking forward to a lot more of his images being added!

Scrolling Menu

We now have a new scrolling menu bar at the top of a lot of pages on P-G. Specifically on the opening page. By positioning the mouse cursor within the box you can control the speed and direction of the menu. It includes thumbs for each of the galleries on the site and is a direct link to them. Try it out, see what you think!

Portfolio Submission Guidelines

Since Photo-Genesis is an invitation only gallery, we thought it was about time to set up a submission mechanism. Until recently we were issuing invitations on a referal basis only. Now, with the drastically improved performance of Photo-Genesis, we're actively recruiting new artists. Use the link to visit the Forum thread detailing how to submit your porfolio for consideration. We normally reply within 2-4 days. Good luck and we're looking forward to seeing all of the new work!

Short URL's for the Artist's Galleries.

If you're sending the link of a favorite gallery to friends or family, there's now a new, short URL format for just that kind of action. www.photo-genesis.net/Artists_Galleryname is now the ticket. So, for instance, the URL for Vikki's gallery would be www.photo-genesis.net/Vikki_McGuire if you wanted to send that link.

Photo of the Day Google Gadget Added

We've entered the orld of Google Gadgets! Check out the link below if you'd like to subscribe to this version. It's composed of 7 images which will either change on a daily basis or when you refresh your screen. It's up to you. We're working on a more advanced version which will be released soon. Check out the current one though, we're sure you'll like it. To subscribe to it just go to Google's Gadget listings and search for Photo Genesis under the Lifestyles section.

We've Upgraded to a Graphical RSS Feed

As you've noticed by now, we have linked graphics in the feed. We think it's a lot more attractive this way and it gives us the opportunity to showcase our many artists. Each thumb will take you to the related story or in some cases will take you to the gallery of one of our world class photographers. We think you'll like it.
