Aprils showers…shmowers. A little rain isn’t going to stop us! But honestly, we barely had time to compare about the rain as Photography by Chanda took to the friendly skies for most of the month of April seemingly escaping the waterfall the April tends to bring. When we weren’t flying, we were driving. We hit the road as well traveling from NYC to upstate NY to Rochester to capture a stunning wedding. From there, we headed back down to Southern Pines, NC. Can you say travel galore? Whew, we’re beat. While it feels like we saw most of the April through the lens of our cameras, we cannot complain. It’s what we do, it’s what we love! We’re truly happy to be documenting all of this cool an amazing peeps and such, near and far but admittedly there is nothing like home. So writing this now again traveling so sorry so late... only May... lol

The thermometer marches up and slides back down…. one day 74 next 34. How is that for crazy weather? I’ve been trying to think when the temperature has ever gone this crazy. Weather predictions are all over the place. We don’t know what to prepare for weather-wise at Photography by Chanda as we travel out and about here in our home state of North Carolina this month. No matter what Mother Nature brings, we plan to enjoy every moment of it because next month we will be away for three weeks traveling and capturing your amazing moments!

Love comes in all forms and deeply rooted in so many aspects of life. From the first sight and touch of a newborn baby; a lover’s first kiss; a soldier’s return from active duty; the last touch or words exchanged of a treasured loved one and so on and so forth, love is ever present. Its potential exists in every little activity and expression of our lives. We just have to find it and nurture it. The month of love always pulls on our heart strings reminding us of the importance of three little words that mean different things to different people but in the end….they mean so much! This February will do more than foster the thoughts of love, hearts and blissful kisses….it’ll take www.photographybychanda.com back to beautiful Switzerland; a place Brandy and I fell in love with document and enjoying life there. You cannot help but be mystified by the fundamental beauty of this country. I mean look at the views simple way of life that we captured during our first trip. It’s undeniable yes!

Happy New Year from Photography by Chanda! New Year’s Eve is always such a great reason to celebrate with friends and family. However, I think I am the only one ringing in the New Year working. But how can I complain? I love what I do, so this is not truly work for me. As I sit here though, I’ve decided that this year I’m not about resolutions. This year I am all about hope. I hope for all sick babies and children to become healthy. I hope that those in need find assistance. I hope that all families who have loved ones dealing with cancer become cancer free. Honestly, the list of ‘I hope’ will go on forever as there is so much to hope for. I found myself thinking about how wonderful it’d be if we could just put a spell on cancer and have it be gone forever or something to make this world a healthier, happier place. I thought about that as I watched the movie Brave with my boys tonight. Those movies always make me think about magic and wonderment.

During this festive time of year we at Photography by Chanda probably should be singing Christmas Carols or other catchy holiday tunes that flood the radio. We wholeheartedly agree that it’s really hard not to sing-a-long and feel the power of the holiday spirit. But the truth is, given how busy we are we find ourselves singing the theme song of the Seven Dwarves Whistle While You Work as the days of December tick away. We not only find ourselves singing it but humming it, thinking it, dreaming about it and yes, we’re even whistling it as we take pics of your beautiful families, loved ones, cherished occasions and remarkable events! And guess what? We wouldn’t want it any other way. As December closes and we welcome January, Photography by Chanda is headed to Switzerland. Brandy and I will be dashing off to the wintery wonderland of the Alps to photograph some of our stunning fashion forward cleints.

Thanksgiving is this month and we at Photography by Chanda truly have so much to be thankful for. We’re thankful for you, our clients, our families, our health and our homes and so much more. However, this month I write you with a heavy heart. For the past two years, I have dreaded to turn the calendar page from October to November because it’s a glaring reminder that my Daddy’s been gone. Sadly, he passed on my birthday which makes it even more difficult to digest. As you most of you know, I truly love to celebrate birthdays but it’s tough given the magnitude of this loss. I know time heals all wounds but somebody please tell my heart that as despite two years passing, the pain is still fresh. However, this year I’m going to make a concerted effort to celebrate his life on this day, the 28th of November. Fortunately we’re very busy which helps keep my mind off Daddy but due to the increased volume, we have had to refer clients to other photographers. UGH! It’s a necessity as I want to be sure my client’s have their treasured pictures but I hate that we can’t be the ones to fulfill them. While we’re blessed for the business and thankful to be booked solid, admittedly having to turn people away pains me. I don’t want anyone else to share in the fun we have at our shoots. But I do what I must to ensure they have what they need. Next year I’ll have to make some big changes to accommodate this growth. Until then, we have a schedule of fun to partake in.

There is no better place to kickoff the Fall than in beautiful Asheville, NC! A couple of hours from Charlotte, tucked away in the southwest region of the state, Asheville represents the perfect union of artist’s palette meets artist’s paradise. Photography by Chanda is off to Asheville to document a bride to be.... surprise cannot show until the I do!!! Along the first weeks of fall season of October we have been honored to document a private school’s and their Development program for babies to age 4 along with their pre and afterschool programs and all their amazing smiles. Where did the Summer go? Yes I know, please don’t tell me that it’s nearly gone. I’m well aware that the lazy days of Summer are approaching retirement for this as September 22nd the official first day of Fall for 2012 is on the horizon. The first clue that the kiddies are back in school should’ve come with the big yellow buses invading streets in the early morning and throughout the afternoon but sheesh, we’ve been so busy at Photography by Chanda, it’s hard to keep the days straight. Thank goodness for the ole handy dandy calendar and the coveted sharpie to mark the days off as they pass.

Just like most of you this August, travel is on the agenda for PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHANDA as well. We’re headed to Pennsylvania the first week in August to see some more of our amazing clients. Fortunate is the best word to express the feeling we get each and every time we take those first snapshots of the newest members of our family; the newborns. This time around, our newest good fortune will be experienced photographing new lil bebe Lucas who just blessed us with his presence. We cannot wait to meet you Lucas!

You have to love Facebook. Where else can you get great quotes spit at you minute after minute explaining our joys, sorrows, good wishes, deep thoughts, not so deep thoughts, random thoughts, touching sayings and so on and so forth? That venue is the coolest thing. In fact, I just read one quote captured from the Berenstain Bears book that read, ‘It’s July – Thank you, stars and fireflies, for the magic of the summer skies’. So true! But I’d say one thing is missing from that and that is the fact that July 4th is what makes July so incredibly special. It carries magic of its own that brings people together. So to add to that great quote from earlier, Photography by Chanda says ‘It’s July, get out there and chase fireflies, wish upon stars, write with sparklers, be awestruck by the fireworks, snuggle into your loved one and whisper sweet nothings in their ears, jump in the lake, splash and yell, laugh with your kids, laugh till it hurts…basically, do what you can to make it a July to remember. Make it summer of memories’. And what is the best way to capture memories? Yep, you got it, with us!
