For that I am truly sorry and do plan on making up for it with some past weddings of some amazing couples. However, I couldn’t think of a better couple to break my silence with than with Lauren and Ryan. We were blessed with an amazing day of weather and of course an amazing venue of Dunafon Castle in Idledale, CO. I enlisted my right hand man, Mark Hayes, to help me cover this spectacular venue and even more fantastic couple.

To say that a man from Alamosa Colorado would cross paths with a native born Colombian S.A. woman is unpredictable. That they would later fall in love even though she lived in California and he lived in Colorado…unpredictable. As unpredictable as these things are for the better, this relationship would suffer a tragic event that was equally unpredictable. With just over a week before the wedding Sorel’s mother passed away unexpectedly. Mark, being the loving and supportive groom, was there for her and was willing to do whatever Sorel needed. In spite of this tragedy, their love for one another was not to be denied and their families rallied behind them to help them celebrate their love for one another on October 17, 2009 at the Arrowhead Country Club. Arrowhead is a majestic location and was a beautiful backdrop for a beautiful couple in love.

Once again Mark Hayes of Mark Hayes Photography had my back for this beautiful wedding. Johnny Lee Wilson from Howlin’ Good Mobile Entertainment provided the music and cool lighting on the dance floor and Karen Mraz from Digital Video Production was a true professional in covering the wedding from a video perspective.

Mark and Sorel, your love for one another was palpable and it was my honor and privilege to document your day together as you became husband and wife. I hope you had a safe trip back to Columbia and I’m thrilled to get to show you some of your images from your most special day!

Not the same ol’ stuff that everyone else has!” This is something that immediately endeared me to Hillary. Senior photos should be about THAT senior…not EVERYOTHER senior. The fact that Hillary got that and chose me to capture her at this stage of her life was both humbling AND a true privilege. At Rock Canyon high school she’s a part of the journalism program and even does the high school news casts. As you’ll see from her pictures, the camera loves her. So seeing her in these images as a news reporter on scene isn’t a big stretch.

Some props have to be given to Hillary’s sister who was my voice activated light stand and was instrumental in helping to light her sister. Actually, Hillary’s whole family took turns and was a huge support. Hillary, thank you for entrusting me with your senior photos, inviting me into your life and introducing me to your amazing family! I wish you nothing but the best and am excited for what the future has in store for you!

I get to work with our future America and I got to tell you…It looks very bright!

I had the privilege of photographing Gregory, Class of 2010  from Castle View High School in Castle Rock, Colorado. I was invited back to his house and surrounding property from last year when his mom was kind enough to allow me to photograph 3 seniors on their scenic venue. Kristen, Taylor, and Adam rocked it last year and this year it was Gregory on his home turf…which meant we got to see and do things that hadn’t been done before. Greg has many opportunities ahead of him, Navy, Airforce, CU, CSU…time will tell. Having grown up around animals his whole life and with chickens, goats, dogs, and cats right out his front door, he has an interest in veterinary medicine. He also has a family history of service to our country which could lead him to the armed services. Whatever his path. he’s going to blaze the trail to success!

Their guests were invited to the amazing Phipps Mansion in downtown Denver to celebrate the love and union of this amazing couple.

I was ecstatic when they decided to do an engagement session. I’ve been blessed with the people I’ve had the opportunity to photograph and Joe & Audrey are no exception. Just as an example of how cool this couple is, they’re coming back a day early from their honeymoon because…Broncos home opener baby! Oh…and it was Audrey’s suggestion!

How does this happen? 20 years ago I graduated high school. Conor wasn’t even born! Really!?!?! WOW! That’s pretty sobering but, what’s inspiring is getting to meet our future. Conor wants to be an orthopedic surgeon. This caught my attention as my father just had hip replacement surgery. It came up in passing and Conor knew more about the surgery than I did! His interest stems from his athletic background and his own personal injuries as a result. Conor is a top notch hockey player and is a part of a nationally ranked hockey team.

I had the good fortune to photograph this young man at his place of employment…that’s right besides being a scholar and an athlete, this young man has a fantastic work ethic as well. He works at a local golf course tending the grounds…not easy labor by any stretch! Conor, I’m excited for you and what your future holds. Continue your hard work and enjoy every minute of it…before you know it…you’ll be attending your 20 year reunion!

She was ear to ear grinning glowing in her love for him. He was quiet and confident in his love for her. As excited as they were for their wedding day they were more excited that they had found each other. Of everyone on the planet…they managed to find their way to one another. The importance of family was palpable every time I had the opportunity to be in the presence of these wonderful people. Pride, passion, and love surrounded them on their most special day and I was fortunate enough to capture it. Blessed was I to say the least.

Of course, people like this and a wedding like this at the Dunafon Castle cannot be done justice without some amazing help. My right hand man Mark Hayes of Mark Hayes Photography was kind enough to lend his services and absolutely knocked it out of the park. An AMAZING photographer and an even better friend I couldn’t have done it without him! The hair and makeup at The Look Salon was AMAZING and the flowers from Denver Blooms were absolutely gorgeous. Kyle from A Music Plus rocked the party with his DJ skills and  Walter Mathew from Creative Mountain Images was a true professional videographer and a pleasure to work alongside. Last but certainly not least were the wedding coordinators at the Dunafon Castle, Annie and Annette. If you want an amazing venue and a stellar supporting cast for your wedding definitely give them a call!

Nick and Nikki…I cannot adequately express my gratitude to you both in words. Your love for one another is truly wonderful and I am so excited for what your lives together will bring. Your families were so gracious, kind and welcoming that photographing your most special day was a total joy. Thank you both for just being you and letting me in to document the beginning of your lives together. Here are the first of many more pictures to come. Enjoy! It’s pretty tame anymore. At least that’s what us city folk would like to think. Sure, there aren’t any high noon gun battles or sheriffs and their deputies  riding horseback after the “bad guys.” But the west is still very much alive and still very wild. Wild animals, rough land and A LOT of hard work. So, what does it take to tame the savage beasts of the west? Yep, a beauty. Kelsey has been riding horses since she was just a little girl. Now all grown up and ready to graduate high school, this beauty is looking at scholarships for barrel racing. Interested in radiology or dentistry this girl has the brains to go along with her looks.

Kelsey, thank you for the opportunity to photograph your senior photos. The future is wide open for you and I wish you nothing but the best. Enjoy every minute of your senior year. :-)

When I met Jason, here was a young man that got out of the car, reached for my hand, looked me in my eyes, placed his other hand on top of my hand and said, “I’m Jason, nice to meet you.” Impressive coming from a young man of 17. I’ve met adults that could take a lesson from Jason’s social grace. Jason plays baseball, short stop to be exact and even has been known to throw a pitch or two. He’s interested in video and video production and even has a project dealing with the local police department coming up. Man, I wish I had these kind of programs when I was in high school!

Jason, thanks for spending your afternoon with me. It was a true pleasure to meet you and photograph you at this stage of your life. There is without a doubt big things to come for you. I know I’ll look back one day and say…I knew him when… ;-) Have a fantastic senior year, my friend.
