Headshot Sundays?

2023-07-27T15:38:00.011-04:00

It's been a while since I've posted to the blog. I'm thinking of dedicating maybe the last Sundays of each month to focus on capturing headshots. Maybe have a small group of people so we can network. It would be a way to meet new connections. We can call the event "Headshot Sundays"?

If you think this would be a cool idea comment below. And if you need headshot for your brand, LinkedIN, Facebook profile, business, acting, or just want to have a portrait taken don't hesitate to contact me.

Booth: Adriana's Quince

Adriana's Quince

2014-07-02T16:47:00.001-04:00

I had the honor of photographing Adriana's quince at the Great Falls Grange in Great Falls, VA. For all of us that don't know what Quince or Quinceañera is... Quinceañera, (feminine form of "fifteen-year-old"), also called fiesta de quince años, fiesta de quinceañera, quince años or simply quince, is the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America and elsewhere in communities of people from Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood.

Here are some of the photos from that day.

Booth: S+A Wedding

2014-06-27T17:00:00.000-04:00

Sometimes it's impractical have a seamless paper backdrop outdoors. The slightest wind would blow the backdrop everywhere. But that shouldn't discourage you from not having a booth at an outdoor event. The recipe for unique photos are lights, props and awesome people.

Booth: L+S Wedding

2014-02-24T12:05:00.001-05:00

At weddings outside from the bridal portraits the day is spent playing photojournalist. As photographer that loves working in the studio, setting up a photo booth and taking photos is enjoyable way for me to capture memories. With a little spontaneity and direction is a recipe to getting unique portraits that will make you smile and laugh.

The Portrait Booth is a rendition of the classic photo booth. It's an exciting addition to any event, party or wedding reception. It can inspire creativity and silliness while getting memorable photographs.

Fun at the Gift Shop

2014-02-20T15:36:00.004-05:00

Here are a few photos from last summer that never got around to posting on the blog. I meet with the group from LRA to hangout at the beach. One evening we headed to the busy boardwalk of Ocean City, MD to hangout and do a short shoot. Having to improvise... I had the crazy idea of asking shop owners if we can use their stores as a backdrop/studio. Here are some of the photos from that night.

LRA Fitness/Boxing/MMA Shoot

2013-11-18T15:58:00.000-05:00

This past weekend got to work with awesome talents and was able to play around with a concept that I've had in mind for some time. The shoot was held at Club One Fitness.

Thanks to LRA for setting this up and I want to thank everyone that help me create these images. Without the models helping out the cool effect wouldn't be there. And special thanks for Annie of MKP for being my grip for the day.

A day in the sun with Emilie.

2013-06-25T17:21:00.000-04:00

It was a hot humid when I met the actress Emilie Pratt at the Leesa Robinson Modeling and Talent Agency 2nd Annual Mansion Bikini Photoshoot. Again I didn't stick to the theme. I already had a theme in and that was the Beauty shoot with droplets of water. In this shoot with Emilie I wanted to push our session in a different direction. I tend to March to the beat of my own drum. Not sure if that a good or bad thing.

Emilie sorry making you endure the 95+ degree heat, the blazing sun and my repeated disdain for the humidity.

Beauty and Water

2013-06-25T00:56:00.001-04:00

I've been wanting to do a shoot using water and make up with bold colors. I recall watching a video from adoramaTV called Water Droplets: Ep 221: Digital Photography 1 on 1: Adorama Photography TV this was part of the inspiration to the a concept I wanted to try. Water and beauty. I wanted to get something a bit abstract.

During this shoot I worked with Ashley and Emilie. And our make up artist for this shot was Brittany Main.

Thank you everyone for helping me execute this concept that been meaning to do for some time. Special thanks to Leesa Robinson Modeling and Talent Agency. And before I forget TJ thanks for the backdrop.

I was photographing a Joanne and Marcelo's wedding with my friend and fellow photographer Wilson Roa. I had the pleasure of meeting Marcelo an avid Fútbol fan. Here are a few photos of Marcelo getting ready for the wedding day.

Wedding: Michelle & Joseph

2012-12-26T07:00:00.000-05:00

They say if you truly love someone you'll set them free and if they come back it's meant to be. Here's a poem I delicate to Michelle and Joseph.

Years ago I knew you

It seems so long ago

When I was young as you were too

All those years before

As if you never left me

You never left my side

As if time never passed...

We had and wonderful time in South Beach being a part of a very emotional and fun filled weekend. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and I'm glad to have the pleasure of calling you friends.

Special thanks David for making the trip down with me to Miami, Florida.

Frames: Angie Martinez

2012-11-22T06:00:00.000-05:00

Here is another installment in the frames series. I thought it would be cool to produce a short video of the photos from my shoot with Angie. Most of the photos are straight out of the camera. I just wanted to show you it's OK to have fun and be carefree in front of my camera.

Frames: Francisco

2012-11-20T03:16:00.000-05:00

Here are the frames taken from my last shoot with Francisco. He wanted to see all the photos from the shoot and wanted unedited versions of the photos. My rule is that I don't give out unedited photos. So I decided to make a video. Here is a glimpse under the hood. The photos for the most part are unedited with no retouching, just black and white conversion and the others got special color treatment.

Rocking it out with Francisco

2012-11-04T23:29:00.000-05:00

Following the last series of photos I've use the same photography technique through out the day. It's normally not my style and I have to say it's some what liberating not hauling so much gear. I just wanted to do something different for a change.

I told Francisco when he approached me during the shoot and I said this is going to be different from what I normally do. We have shot together in the past and he said he was up to doing something different. He's versatile, open mined and willingness to try something new. Such great traits for a good model. Francisco it's always a pleasure working with you.

Partied Out

2012-11-04T18:27:00.002-05:00

This past Saturday's theme was dubbed Partied Out! I wanted to get a look of hard night of partying. I want to thank Brooke the first one to agree to do the concept and Kristina Collins her creatively on the make up.

First off I wanted to give credit to Terry Richardson who has made this type of light setup/photography technique famous. I dig his work. I don't understand why other photographers give him grief and call him a hack? I guess with success comes jealousy and envy? Someone once said "jealousy is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius".

The style is raw. It's all about the subject and the story it tells. I always say when photographing people the photos are about the subject and not about the photographer. It's the job of the photographer to get the emotion out of the subject.

And please visit Brooke and Nelson Facebook pages and show them some LOVE. They are both talents at Leesa Robinson Agency.

On the Roof with Austin

2012-10-04T09:13:00.000-04:00

When taking a portrait of someone you just met and to break the ice... I fell it's best to ask them what they are into or what do they do. When Austin told me he plays multiple instruments I knew a general direction to go. It also helped he brought his guitars with him. He asked acoustic or electric. I answered acoustic. Here are some of the photos of that day.
