Tammer, Niki, Caden, & Hummer!

My wife and I first met Tammer and Niki while photographing our friends' Chuck & Angela wedding in Pine Mountain, Georgia, back in 2008! (See Den Bleyker-Persons Wedding gallery). It turned out that we were staying in the same hotel and caught up the day after...My wife tends to gravitate towards all small furry animals, and she noticed Tammer and Niki had a little adorable puppy pit bull named Marilyn.

Tammer asked if I wouldn't mind snapping a few shots of Marilyn - I was happy to and emailed him the link to the gallery a couple weeks later...

At that time, I had no clue just how accomplished Tammer was as an award-winning professional dog trainer! I remember him mentioning though that I had to meet his dog Hummer!

I had just that opportunity, and more this past Saturday! In those 4 short years, Tammer and Niki had a beautiful child! Caden is now two months old, and has two wonderful and loving parents...Well, make that three wonderful and loving parents! Here's a little preview for you all enjoy, with more to come soon :-)

Been staying pretty busy here lately at LHP! So I had the chance to photograph Natalie & Jeff's beautiful backyard wedding last week, 10/20/12. It was a magical day, filled with Beatles memorabilia, food trucks, converse sneakers, Lake Jackson in the background, warm and happy friends and family, doggy ring bearers, the cool crisp fall air...Aw, heck with it...Never was great with words! That's way I take photos...Let them do the talking for me ;-)

You'll have to pardon my long hiatus from blogging! I got into a routine of posting my more recent work on Facebook...It became a replacement for blogging for a while there. And then, as always, they changed this and tweaked that. I have no real way of knowing for sure if anyone will see my posts there now! So it's a good thing I still have this trusty blog to come back to time and time again! That, and I'm just plain lazy... :-P So in the post below, you'll see the wacky and crazy photos we got of guests at Sarah and Jake's wedding at the beautiful Honey Lake Plantation, 9/22/12! Once a year, some of the best restaurants in town band together in support of the Children's Home Society of Florida. Yes, food is what brings us together...And this year, the 27th Annual Chefs' Sampler brought together some 2,500 food lovers and good-time-havers!

Hosted by FSU Seminole Head Coach Jimbo Fisher and wife Mrs. Candi Fisher, this event went down in the books as a great success!

I love helping friends and family with camera advice...And quite often I get asked questions like: How does this work? What mode should I use? Is it too dark or am I just not doing something right? How did you get that shot?

Those are all great questions, and each answer is typically rooted in the fundamental building blocks of photography and camera operation.

I've spent a lot of time and money over the years educating myself on these principles...No matter how much you learn in a book or in a class though, most of your applied knowledge will come from making mistakes...And boy, have I made a bunch over the years! :-P

Now I want to share what I've learned with others who may be struggling with their cameras!

This course is going to be geared towards the non-professional audience...Mothers who want to take better day-to-day photos of their families; Amateurs who need a firmer grasp on what their camera can do; The person who scratches their head at all those choices: Av, Tv, M, P...Can I pick a vowel?!

We'll go over things like ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, White Balance, Camera Modes, Lighting, How to hold a camera (AKA...How NOT to hold a camera) and many more topics! We'll talk about how to manage your photos and what you can do with them once you have them saved to your computer.

But what happens when you leave our class and set forth with camera in-hand on your first attempt to get that shot of the cat pawing at your dog, or your son getting on the bus for his first day of school?! Will you remember everything?!

Yes! You better! Because after you learn the basics, we're going to spend an hour one-on-one - You, your camera, me and a photographic obstacle course! When we're finished, you won't dread picking up that camera and not knowing which button does what...

My wife & I met up with Jacqui & Patrick at Maclay Gardens this past Saturday...I was forewarned that Patrick might be a little camera shy, so I came with my bag of tricks. But we never saw a hint of that as we progressed through the shoot...Perhaps because his shyness was overtaken by being so head-over-heels in love with Jacqui!

Set to marry in March at Mission San Luis, it was truly a pleasure being able to capture these moments between the two...And here's to many more to come!

For now, just a very quick preview! :-)

New Maternity Session Offer!

Back in February, our local photographer's guild had Damon Feccit as our guest speaker...His program focused on a style of maternity progression photos that he's become famous for, and how to capture that same look and feel on our own!

Well...About that same time, everyone we know got pregnant! Must be something in the water :-P

We asked our friends Morgan & Marjan if they would be willing to pose in multiple sessions over the next nine months to get a sample for potential clients - When they saw what the finished product would look like, they were all for it! I can't thank Marjan enough for taking time out of her busy schedule to make this a reality!

In case it's not immediately obvious how awesome it was to literally watch this project GROW...It was amazing! So much fun to see the subtle changes from session to session and know that as the baby grew, they were preparing to welcome baby Olivia into the world as proud first-time parents! :-)

Well...I'll skip step one....

I have to admit...I didn't exactly know what a Quinceañera was at first! Then it was explained to me that it's similar to a "Sweet 16", but it's for Latin American girls who are turning 15! Hey - I'm up for a party!

Daniela's mother is related to Sofia (Wedding), so they were familiar with my work and wanted to professionally document this important moment in their lives!

It turns out that Daniela has to do a few things to earn this party though...Like spend a month rehearsing a complex choreographed dance routine! Which was amazing and went off without a flaw, by the way...

Mr. William has a healthy set of lungs. I know FIRST HAND! LOL He's such a cute little fellow! And he has such a caring and loving mother...And an Aunt who will spoil him silly!
