I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

前回の更新から２ヶ月。もう少し更新ペースあげないと…

今回は2009年春のチリの旅のイースター島での写真。5月はオフシーズンなのか、観光客も少なめで、かなりの確率でモアイ独り占め（正しくはふたり占め）状態。小さい島なのでレンタカーして、毎日いろんなモアイスポットを行ったり来たり。モアイ三昧堪能しました。

トップのモアイはアフトンガリキという場所にあり、日本の技師達の協力で修復して立て直されたもの。開けた場所で海がバックに見えて気持ちが良かったです。

私が一番好きだったのは、ラノララクという島の中心近くにあるモアイの切り出し場。

島にあるモアイのほとんどはここの山の岩を削って作られて、海岸に運ばれたそう。普通に行くと入り口入って右のほうにあるモアイを見るのですが、お勧めは山の内側（クレーターがあるほう）。

あまり人が来ないのか草ぼーぼーな感じの中に作りかけのモアイや、半分埋まったモアイがごろごろ。山を登って行くとあまりにも沢山あるので気づかずにモアイの上歩いてたり。（ほんとはダメです）なんとなく道っぽいのを上に向かって行くと、最後は岩壁みないな所にたどり着き、その壁の隙間からアフトンガリキが見えます。ちょっと怖いけど。

少し前にFacebookの仕様が変わって、いろんなサイトに設置されてある Like（いいね！）ボタンをクリックした時に、Facebookのフィードに表示される画像が選べなくなった。その後、お気に入りのフォトログで素敵な写真があって「いいね！」しても、その素敵なのじゃなくて別の写真（そっちも素敵だったりするんだけど）がFacebookの自分のフィードに表示されて、「あー、それではなくて…」って思ったり。

今日ちょっと時間ができたので、調べてみたら、画像指定できそうなので自分のフォトログで試してみました。以下その方法。WordPressで、シングルページ（パーマリンクページ）にLikeボタンを設置してある場合です。

まず、FacebookのLikeボタンやShareボタンを使った時に表示される内容は
Open Graph protpcol
というのを使ってできるらしい。

画像の指定はテーマファイルのheader.phpのタグ内に

<meta property="og:image" content="ここに画像のURL" />

を追加。

画像のURLを拾ってくるためにテーマファイルのfunctions.phpに以下の関数を追加。
画像はその記事の画像の中から一枚拾ってくる方法。

この言葉、好き。私は日本人にぴったりの形容詞だと思っている。竹のようにしなやかに戻ってくる、七転び八起きなイメージ。

そして今回すっかりファンになったアメリカチームのふたり。

オリンピックも楽しみ。

ものを選ぶときに使う、「どちら（どれ）にしようかな、天の神様の言うとおり」という歌。続きの詞について、神奈川県出身の筆者は「なのなのな、鉄砲撃ってバンバンバン」がスタンダードだと思っていたんですけど、他県出身者と話していると…。

「なのなのな、鉄砲撃ってバンバンバン」って…
それに、うちのほうは「天の神様」じゃなくてただの「神様」だったけど。
その他にも

「“なのなのなすびの柿の種”だろ」（北海道出身）
「そもそも“裏の神様の言うとおり”だから」（三重県出身）
「“ひよこのお散歩”のくだりはあるよね？」（鳥取県出身）

えー、なんなのそれ。↑

一通り記事を読み終えて、うちの田舎はどんなんだっけと思い出そうとするんだけど、全然出てこない。気になったので姉にメールで聞いてみたら

1995年から買い続けて今年で16冊目。世界報道写真展の写真集です。
相変わらず争いゴトはなくならないなーとか、年々自然災害の規模が大きくなってる気がするとか、色々ずっしりくる一冊。

サイズは小さいけどオンラインでも見れます。
Winner Gallery 2011

今年の世界報道写真大賞 (World Press Photo of the Year) は、表紙にもなってる、タリバン兵に鼻と耳をそぎ落とされたアフガニスタンの18歳の女の子のポートレート。Steve McCurry のあのアフガニスタンの女の子の写真のまねっこ？って思った写真。撮影したのが女性写真家だというのにも、ちょっと驚いた。他にどれが今年の一枚としてふわさしいかって聞かれると答えられないけど、これかなぁ？ってちょっと疑問なセレクトだった。

（ちなみに彼女はその後アメリカで回復手術を受けました。すごく可愛い人だ。）

あと目についたのがGoogleストリートビューの写真。Contemporary Issues というカテゴリーの Honorable Mention。技術と写真とプライバシーの問題提起、という意味での選出らしい。

で、私がいちばん「お〜！えーっ？」って思ったのがこれ。

CGみたい。こんな鳥ホントにいるんだ。こっち見てるし。すごいなー。

ちょっと幻想的で素敵な写真。でも来年はきっと、3月の地震と津波と原発のつらい写真がいくつか選ばれるんだろうな…

一通り見終わって本棚に入れている時に2000年のが抜けているのに気がついた。
あれ、持ってなかったっけ？と思いながらAmazonで見たら、Usedでお安いのがあったので早速注文しておいた。2000年のということは1999年に起った出来事の写真。私がアメリカに来た年。どんなことがあったのか全然思い出せないので、届くのが楽しみ。
