Eye Color Effects - Photoshop Tutorial

This tutorial shows you how to change someone's eye color using image adjustments and masking.

Using Adobe Photoshop CS this effect is quite easy to achieve though I see no reason for this effect to not work on any other version.

Step 1:

Open the picture you want to edit the eyes of.

Of course higher quality pictures give out more fabulous results.

Step 2:

Select the part of the eye you wish to edit.

I used the masking tool to select the eye, you can do so with other tools.

Just hit q and brush part of the eye and to refine your selection you can bring out

the eraser tool and erase the unneeded parts.

Step 3:

Use Image Adjustments > Color Balance and adjust the sliders to your preference.

For better results you should adjust both Shadows and Midtones to your desired results.

Outputs:

Magenta Eyes

Red Eyes

Classy Red Text Effect - Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to create a classy red text effect that can be applied to any digital or printed media.

Step 1:

Start off with a 500 x 200 pixel canvas then select the text tool and with a decently sized font type any text you want. For this example I have used the font Arial Black but you can use another font if you want just as long as it is not cursive or really narrow.

Step 2:

Then add a stroke effect to your text. I see 5px as ideal but of course you are free to adjust it to suite your needs. Be sure that the position is set to outside and the color is red.

Step 3:

Add a gradient overlay to your text. The colors you put here are really up to you. Just make sure that they go well together.

Step 4:

Add a bevel effect with this settings:

And hopefully you will end up with something this classy. :D

The amazing Pen tool has a lot of uses and as such it deserves a place on this month's Tool Spotlight.

The Pen tool is highly useful in making precise illustrations and paths. Curved , Straight or Wiggly you name it! with a little skill you can probably do it. The Pen tool is usually used to select parts of an image by making paths around it or draw lines with various thickness and this tool is also useful in making out shapes or polygons for that special artwork of yours. No matter how you use it you can't deny how useful it is for you. So be sure to thank those people in the production studio for this one of a kind tool.

Here is one of my earlier works.
This picture was taken during our class field trip when I was in high school.
I played around with it and this is the end result, I know its kinda rough around the edges and a few things could probably make it better but hey its good enough when I made a long time ago :D

Fire in your eyes | Photoshop Tutorial

Do you have the burning desire in your heart? Do you have the Flame within? Well why not let other people now that by "Enhancing" your picture with this photoshop and this easy to follow tutorial.

Let's start with this picture.

Step 1
Zoom in on the eyes (or eye in this example)

Step 2
Paint over the part of the eye you wish to turn red.

Step 3
Change the "Blending Options" to Soft Light

Step 4
Then Paint a symbol over the red part of the eye. It might not look like much when you are zoomed in but it will make sense when you look at the whole picture.

Final Output
Here is my "Final" output. As you can see i have made a few other "Enhancements" to the image. If you want to know more about this particular style of my work, Please tune in to my rss feed to keep updated.

Digital Phantom Signing out...

Background Removal in Adobe Photoshop CS CS2 CS3

So you want to remove a background of an image eh? Well I guess you have found the right Hubpage ^_^. There are a lot of ways to do this but today I'm gonna show you how to do it using Quick Mask Mode. In Quick Mask Mode you can easily select parts of an image just by painting over it. So lets get started shall we?

Step 1

Open the image you wish to edit, It can be anything you want

Step 2

Click the Quick Mask mode in the toolbox or just hit 'Q' on the keyboard, Then brush over the part of the image you wish to extract but don't worry about any mistakes or painting outside of the part you want because you can just as easily use the Eraser tool (E) and erase what you do not want the selection.

Step 3

Hit Q to exit Quick Mask mode or click the icon in the toolbox.

Step 4

Now that you have made the selection you can press delete on the keyboard or invert the selection to highlight the image and cut it instead of the background it really depends on what you will do to your image and take note that in Quick Mask mode the parts NOT in red will be the one selected once you exit quick mask mode.

Bonus

Now its really up to you what you want to do with your image, You can add a little flavor to or making it a little scary. Its all up to you you can plainly change the background to black (Bonus 1) or go overboard (Bonus 2)

The Interface

The Menu Bar:

Represented by the color red in the reference image, it is where the menus for performing tasks are located, they are arranged according to what they do for example the Images menu contain tasks that control the settings of the image such as Color Adjustments and trimming and cropping.

The Options Bar:

Represented by the color green in the reference image, it is where the options available are displayed depending on the tool selected like in figure 1.1 the rectangular marquee tool is selected so the options displayed are related to how the tool will be used to select stuff in the image you are working on.

The Palettes Area:

Represented by the color purple, It is where palettes are located they provide tools to modify and monitor images. More on this later.

The Toolbox:

Represented by the color blue, The Toolbox contains the tools for creating and editing images. More on this later.

The Active Image Area:

Represented by the color yellow, The active image area is where you make stuff happen this is where your image will appear. This is where it all matters. The active image area will give you an overview of your work.

Take a closer look...

The Toolbox:

Take a close look at the highlighted tool. It is the rectangular marquee tool and you might notice that there is a little black mark on the lower right of the tool this means there are other tools available that is related to that tool. To access the other tools you just need to Right-Click the tool and the you may select from the available tools. You will find out that when you right click the Rectangular marquee tool you will see The Elliptical Marquee tool, Single Row and Column Marquee tool.

On to the Meat

The Marquee tools are used for selecting parts of your image.

The Move tool as the name implie, moves tools that are currently selected

The Lasso tools much like the marquee tools, are also used to select parts of your image but in a different way and the lasso tools require more precise movements.

The Magic Wand tool is also used to select but it can only select parts of your image that has the same color.

The Crop tool pretty much self explanatory, this tool crops images this means that when you use it the part of the image that is cropped will be the only part of the image that will remain the other parts will be deleted.

The Slice tool, it is used to slice and separate an image into different parts.

The Healing Brush tool, it is commonly used to "Heal" parts of an image it can be used to remove blemishes and tattoos. You first need to define a source point with the alt key. Source points are used to determine what the healing brush will change in your image.

The Patch tool is used to patch up images by defining a place you want to patch then selecting where the patch will come from.

The Brush tool, It is used to apply brush strokes to your image.

The Clone Stamp tool is a lot like the Healing brush. It takes a sample of a part of an image then applies it to the part you select again you will need to define a source point with the alt key.

The History Brush tool is used to restore parts of an image into its previous state.

Eraser tool, It erases parts of an image

Magic Erase tool, It erases parts of an image with same color in an instant

Paint Bucket tool, It is used to fill part of an image with a single color

Gradient tool, It is used to apply a gradient to part of an image

Blur, Sharpen and Smudge tools, These are used to manipulate the image according to what the name implies.

Dodge and Burn tools, These are used to lighten or darken parts of an image

Path Selection and Direct Selection tools, These are used with paths produced by the pen tool or the shape tool.

Text tool, It is used to add text to an image

Pen tool, It is used to draw precise paths

Shape tool, It is used to put create figures from pre-defined shapes

Eye dropper tool, It is used to select colors.

Hand tool, It is used to move across a zoomed image

Zoom tool, It is used to zoom in or out of an image
