The World's New Tallest Building

This is the first image of what's going to become the tallest building in the world by the end of the decade: The 3,280-foot (one kilometer!) Kingdom Tower. It will dwarf the 2,717-foot (828-meter) Burj Khalifa. Take a look.

Until now, there was only one blurry generic sketch. This image is an actual rendering of the finished tower. According to Chicago's Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the building's designers, construction will begin imminently. The foundation plans are now complete and "the piling for the tower is currently being tendered" in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea.

Mindblowing statistics
The Kingdom Tower's numbers are impressive. The building itself will take a staggering $1.2 billion to build, "while the cost of the entire Kingdom City project is anticipated to be $20 billion," said AS+GG. The massive 3,280-foot spire will house a 5.7 million square feet (530,000 square meters) space and will beat the Burj by "at least 568 feet" (173 meter). It will have a Four Seasons hotel, a Four Seasons apartment area, office space, luxury condos and the world's highest observatory.

There will be 59 elevators, 54 single-deck and five double-deck, along with 12 escalator distributed through the Kingdom Tower. The elevators going up to the observatory deck will travel at 10 meters per second. That's 22.3 miles per hour. It will take you one minute and forty seconds to reach the top of the tower.

There's even an outdoor space at the top of the spire which will be used by the penthouse floor at level 157. You can see it sticking out in the rendering, 98 feet (30 meters) in diameter.

While it will still not reach Frank Lloyd Wright's never-built dream of the Mile High Illinois, its hard-edged, sightly asymmetrical design reminds me more of Wright's sketches than the rounded Burj Khalifa ever did.

MS-DOS and Windows command line users can change the name of a file or directory by using the ren or rename command. Below are some examples of how this command can be used.

Renaming a file

You need to know the volume of your aquarium when adding medication or chemicals to the water. You also need that figure to work out the optimum number of fish your tank can hold or replace a given percentage of water in the aquarium.

Volume is defined as the amount of space taken up by three-dimensional object, and often refers to liquid volume—which is the amount of space taken up by a liquid filling a container.

The US customary units for measuring volume are cups, pints, quarts and gallons. The British metric system units are milliliters and liters. A large amount of liquid, such as that in most aquariums, is usually measured in gallons.
To Calculate the Volume of a Rectangular Fish Tank

It may be easier to work in inches as many tanks are built to “inches-and-feet” dimensions. Measure the length, height and depth of the tank, multiply the figures, and multiply again by 0.00433 (to convert cubic inches to gallons).

For the length, measure the front or back panel of your aquarium, from left to right. For purposes of illustration, let’s assume that it measures 18 inches.

For the height, measure the aquarium from top to bottom. (Let’s say it measure 12 inches).

For the depth, measure the side of the aquarium, from front to back. (Again, it measures 12 inches).

Volume of the tank = Length x Height x Depth x 0.00433

First, multiply the three measurements taken:-

    Measure: 18(L) x 12(H) x 12(D) = 2592 cubic inches

Then multiply this number by 0.00433.

    Result: The volume of the tank is approximately 11.2 gallons

For a more accurate measurement, you should measure the insides of the aquarium instead. There should be a slight reduction in its volume if you do this.
How Much is 20% of your Aquarium’s Water?

For example, if you have a 10-gallon aquarium:-

    20 per cent of 10 gallons = 0.20 x 10 gallons = 2 gallons

To convert gallons into cups, multiply by 16. Thus,

    2 gallons x 16 = 32 cups

    1 cup ≈ 250 mil (8 oz)
    1 liter ≈ 35 fl oz or 4 cups
    1 gallon ≈ 4 liters or 16 cups

So when you need to replace 20 per cent of your 10-gallon aquarium’s water, use a clean measuring cup to remove 32 cups of water from the tank. Now, mark the new water level on the outside of your aquarium with a marker. When making future water changes, you can simply drain the water in the aquarium down to the mark and replace it with fresh water.

1 Short Beep
One beep is good! Everything is ok, that is if you see things on the screen. If you don't see anything, check your monitor and video card first. Is everything connected? If they seem fine, your motherboard has some bad chips on it. First reset the SIMM's and reboot. If it does the same thing, one of the memory chips on the motherboard are bad, and you most likely need to get another motherboard since these chips are soldered on.

2 Short Beeps
Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

3 Short Beeps
Basically the same thing as 2 beeps. Follow that diagnosis above.

4 Short Beeps
Basically the same thing as 2 beeps. Follow that diagnosis above. It could also be a bad timer

5 Short Beeps
Your motherboard is complaining. Try reseating the memory and rebooting. If that doesn't help, you should consider another motherboard. You could probably get away with just replacing the CPU, but that's not too cost-effective. Its just time to upgrade!

6 Short Beeps
The chip on your motherboard that controls your keyboard (A20 gate) isn't working. First try another keyboard. If it doesn't help, reseat the chip that controls the keyboard, if it isn't soldered in. If it still beeps, replace the chip if possible. Replace the motherboard if it is soldered in.

7 Short Beeps
Your CPU broke overnight. Its no good. Either replace the CPU, or buy another motherboard.

8 Short Beeps
Your video card isn't working. Make sure it is seated well in the bus. If it still beeps, either the whole card is bad or the memory on it is. Best bet is to install another video card.

9 Short Beeps
Your BIOS is bad. Reseat or Replace the BIOS.

10 Short Beeps
Your problem lies deep inside the CMOS. All chips associated with the CMOS will likely have to be replaced. Your best bet is to get a new motherboard.

11 Short Beeps
Your problem is in the Cache Memory chips on the motherboard. Reseat or Replace these chips.

1 Long, 3 Short Beeps
You've probably just added memory to the motherboard since this is a conventional or extended memory failure. Generally this is caused by a memory chip that is not seated properly. Reseat the memory chips.

1 Long, 8 Short Beeps
Display / retrace test failed. Reseat the video card.
