Hello Picture Book Lovers! It’s Black History month, and the titles are coming in! I’m doing things a bit different this time, in that I’m spotlighting a book I haven’t read yet. But I’m familiar with this author, plus…well, you just viewed the spectacular trailer that goes along with this book. Can’t you just feel the love; the family pride? I say we’re all in for an unforgettable experience. This one is definitely on my TBR (To-Be-Read) list. Penned by author Kelly Starling Lyons, Ellen’s Broom seems perfect for Black History Month, the American History and Social Studies classroom, or for any child’s private library collection. Kelly is also the author of One Million Men and Me, a lovely book I had the privilege of reviewing for Black History Month 2011. WHAT??? You missed that review? A HUGE Apology!

Hello Picture Book Lovers, I’m coming to you with a HUGE – and I do mean HUGE – apology this morning. I woke up to an email from a writer named Robin Follette, who was kind enough to visit The Depot. It seems that when she tried to “right-click” to open something in a new window, she received an accusatory message. Robin, I’m so sorry! I also apologize to anyone else that has ever received this message. That’s what happens when you try to be your own webmaster. I was just learning word press a couple of years ago, and installed a bunch of plug-ins as I was building this site. But until this morning, I had no clue what this particular plug-in did. You see, when I’m putting content on the site, everything’s unlocked. But after I got Robin’s message, I tried right-clicking, and was immediately accused of trying to copy content that wasn’t mine. Needless to say, I’ve deactivated that plug-in. All I can say is…Wow, I apologize! I can’t imagine the number of writers or publishers I’ve reviewed for who might have received that message, because until now, no one ever brought it to my attention. Robin, thanks again!
