I have to say that it was extremely difficult to choose the photos that I thought would qualify as ‘Super Shots’. While these may not exactly be my best photos, I think they best fit the categories and I am very proud of them. Considering this is a photoblog of Philadelphia, I wasn’t sure if I should include all Philly-related photos…so I settled on mostly Philadelphia. Hope you enjoy!

1. A photo that takes my breath away

The Philadelphia skyline taken from the South Street Bridge. I love Philadelphia. And every time I look at this photo it further solidifies that love. I have tremendous pride for my home city and the beauty of the skyline almost literally takes my breath away.

2. A photo that makes me laugh or smile

Taken at the Ninth Avenue Festival in New York City. This guy was a hit, as tons of people gathered around him and his friend. He was asking for money so he could ‘feed his cat’, but gladly accepted the leftover food my friend and I had. How can you can not laugh or smile at this?

3. A photo that makes me dream

Taken in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia this past December. While I’m not a cold weather person, Christmas is by far my favorite holiday! This photo makes me dream for the excitement, decorations, and holiday cheer that will come next December.

4. A photo that makes me think

Taken inside Independence Hall in Philadelphia. This photo shows the entrance to the Assembly Room and the table where George Washington sat and signed the Declaration of Independence. I can’t help but think what was going through the minds of those men as they entered this room to sign a document that would change this country forever.

5. A photo that makes my mouth water

Taken at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies. I have to admit that I don’t really have many photos of food, but anyone from Philadelphia knows that Chickie’s & Pete’s Crabfries are an absolute must. I know, I know…you’re thinking, no photo of a cheesesteak? Sadly, no. Haven’t been to Philly yet? When you finally are, do yourself a favor…head to a Phillies game and enjoy some crabfries while you’re there. And maybe a cheesesteak.

6. A photo that tells a story

This was taken in Center City, Philadelphia the day the world was supposedly going to end this past year. This man was desperately preaching to anyone who would listen in the ‘last hours’ that we had on earth. I love the intense look on his face…that is definitely a man filled with conviction. I was torn between choosing this photo or this one of the Hurricane Irene aftermath.

7. A photo that I am most proud of (aka my National Geographic shot)

Taken at Penn’s Landing with the Ben Franklin Bridge in the background. I’ve always been very proud of this photo and the people for the Philadelphia Belle even liked it so much that they used it for all of their marketing material. I don’t know if I’d say it’s National Geographic worthy, but it definitely stand out as one of my favorites. Again, I had a tough time not choosing this shot of Route 66 in Albuquerque.
