Fresh Mini Quilt Club - Playing Catch-up

Sometimes life just gets in the way of my "fun" sewing.

This has been happening a lot here lately.

A few months ago I joined Megan's Fresh Mini Quilt Club. I was super ambitious in the beginning and got my first one made quickly, I love how it turned out, it's on my kitchen table now. But, since I made that first one I've been slacking and haven't made the next three...until last week. Kathleen had a day off from her "real" job, she and I spent some time and got all 3 of my Fresh Mini Quilt Club quilts all pieced. Now I just need to quilt them.

Here are some little snippets of them. :)

When I made my first one I used some of Sue Spargo's darling fabrics from a fat quarter bundle that I had picked up. I've decided to continue with that theme and make all of my Fresh Mini's from the same bundle. So far I'm loving what I'm seeing.

Hope you're all having a great week, I've been busy machine quilting quilts for my customers, quilts for magazines and other publications that I can't share here, just yet. I'll have more eye candy soon! :)

Yummy Quilt

MaryAnn pieced this darling version of "Yummy" for one of her granddaughters.

She sent it to me for some machine quilting, I quilted an all over flower pattern. I love how happy and cute it turned out.

The machine quilting pattern is one of my new designs that will be available to long-arm quilter in digital and paper pantograph patterns in August. I can't wait to share more about that. :)

Pattern for Yummy is designed by Julie of Jaybird Quilts.

Kelly Marie Quilt

Kimberly from Main Street Market Designs designed this darling Kelly Marie quilt.

It's a fun quilt with a modern yet traditional feel.

Kimberly brought it to me and asked for some modern custom machine quilting, something to really make those white squares pop and give the quilt a more modern feeling.

I think it turned out really cool!

I mentioned a couple months back that these Scrappy Trip Along quilts are on my bucket list. I still love them and totally want to make one.

MaryAnn made this darling version, I love the color scheme that she has going on here, even though it's scrappy it flows so nicely.

MaryAnn asked me to machine quilt an all over pattern, she loves circles so I machine quilted an all over circle & swirl pattern, I love the softness that it added to the quilt.

Transforming a Simple 9-Patch Quilt

This super cool quilt was pieced by my friend Jamie. She pieced this quilt as a gift for a friends 50th birthday. How sweet is that!

Jamie sent the quilt to me and told me that she wanted custom machine quilting, but basically I could do whatever I wanted. So I just did whatever I felt like at that moment. :)

I really wan't too sure how I was going to quilt it in the beginning, so I took a picture of it, sometimes when I see quilts in a photo then I can see the pattern better and get more ideas how to machine quilt it.

It's kinda cool to see the before and after pictures.

Jamie did ask me to machine quilt a 50 somewhere in the quilt. Since it is a birthday gift. I love how it turned out, it's there, but it's very subtle.

It was a very fun quilt to custom machine quilt.

I thought the back turned out really cool too, so I had to share a picture. :)

Applique Flower Quilt

Terry pieced this beautiful applique quilt.

She sent it to me for some custom machine quilting, she really likes swirls and pebbles so I quilted all the background in tiny pebbles and swirls, I love how they made the flying geese and flowers just pop.

All of the background was pieced so I did add in a few little quilting designs in those areas, just to add extra interest.

I love how your quilt turned out Terry! Thanks for letting me machine quilt for you!

Car Quilts ~ Quilts for Little Boys

A few months back Becky had me machine quilt a couple of little car quilts for some grand-babies. I thought they turned out pretty dang cute and so did she, she loved them so much that she sent me 3 more!

I custom machine quilted these just like the first time. Seriously aren't they the cutest little quilts!

My brilliant friends over at It's Sew Emma have designed some fantastic quilts....again!

This time they have 3 patterns in the Spring 2013 issue of McCalls Quilting, America Makes Fast Quilts.

I custom machine quilted all 3 of these quilts for them and it's always so much fun to see something that you've worked on appear in a magazine. :)

Summer Still Life ~ American Patchwork & Quilting ~ August 2013

I am so beyond excited and flattered today to share our quilt today! Seriously, how huge of a compliment is it to have a quilt in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, yes I'm blushing! :)

Kathleen and I designed this quilt, Summer Still Life, a few years back, it's still one of our very most favorite designs ever. We just love the crisp, freshness of it.

Summer Still Life quilt & pattern is featured in the August 2013 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine. Be sure to check out the pattern and photos, the staff over at American Patchwork & Quilting did an awesome job putting it together!

A fun fact about this quilt: this quilt was the first time I did a double batt when machine quilting, the quilt has one layer of Hobbs 80/20 batting and one layer of Quilters Dream Wool batting, so it has some really awesome texture and is also super heavy!

Another fun fact, for those of you that know me know how much I strongly dislike turning my applique, well, the applique on this quilt is all turned! :) But still sewn on by machine.

Modern Neutrals

Amy Ellis has a new book that was just released, Modern Neutrals ~ A Fresh Look at Modern Quilt Patterns.

Over the years Amy has become a great friend of mine, I was again honored to be able to machine quilt all of the quilts in her new book.

Amy's book features 15 adorable quilt patterns all made from neutral fabrics.

I love, love, love this, Placid Curves, quilt, I love the illusion of curvature when it's all straight lines! So cool!

Sliced is another one of my favorite quilts. I really love the background in this quilt.

Baby Girl Quilt

Michelle pieced this darling baby quilt for one of her nieces.

She brought it to me for some machine quilting, Michelle wanted to keep the quilt more modern looking but also soft, she liked how I had machine quilted my "Over Under" quilt so we decided to quilt this one the exact same.

I love the final result. Soft, yet modern!

Stephanie pieced this darling, bed-sized flower quilt.

It's such a fun and happy spring quilt.

Because the quilt has several borders I machine quilted something different in each border.

It's a fun quilt to add little details to.

Of course I have to share a couple pictures of the machine quilting on the quilt back. :)

My friend Sherri, from It's a Quilting Life, pieced this awesome Marcelle Medallion quilt. Seriously, how awesome is this quilt!

She sent it to me for some custom machine quilting, I decided to go with some more modernish type quilting, lots of straight lines and pebbles to tie it all together.

I really love how it turned out.

Kimberly from Main Street Market Designs designed this beautiful "Allyson" quilt.

I'm not much of a curved piecer but this quilt makes me want to become one!

Kimberly brought me this darling quilt and asked me to custom machine quilt it for her, doing basically whatever I wanted just making the flowers stand out.

Of course I love how the quilt back turned out, so I have to share a little picture of it. :)

I was privileged to machine quilt several quilts for Kimberly of Main Street Market Designs for Spring 2013 Quilt Market. I believe that all of her quilts were hanging in the Riley Blake Designs booth.

Starry Dreams

I custom machine quilted Starry Dreams for Kimberly, it's a beautiful play on a traditional quilt pattern with some more modern type machine quilting.

Richelle

Richelle is a beautiful mix of modern and traditional, I machine quilted this quilt with a "modern cross-hatch" I really love how this quilt turned out.

I love this tulip quilt of Kimberly's I love the colors, the simplicity, everything about it!

I custom machine quilted this quilt with a large scale pebble in the background and then some custom quilting on each of the tulips to make the pop!

Triangles & Hexagons

Another one of Kimberly's darling boy quilt designs.

I love how fresh this quilt is.

I custom machine quilted this fun quilt with a heavy background filler to make each triangle really stand out. What a fun quilt.

Check back in tomorrow I have one more of Kimberly's quilts to share, it's my very favorite one of her designs.. so far!

Hashtag ~ Spring 2013 Quilt Market

Emily, from Crazy Old Ladies designed this adorable Hashtag quilt from her new Technicolor fabric, a Michael Miller fabric. I love the modern yet bright look of her new fabric collection.

Emily brought me the quilt and asked me to custom machine quilt some hashtags in the negative space and other than that I could have fun and do whatever I wanted with the quilt.

So, I did!

I machine quilted feathers, pebbles and some random swirls in the background, all of these techniques are taught in my book, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting.

I love how Emily's quilt turned out.

I can't wait to see photos of her booth!

Arrow Quilt ~ Spring 2013 Quilt Market

This cool arrow quilt is another quilt that I custom machine quilted for the Moda Fabrics booth at Spring 2013 Quilt Market.

I love the simplicity of this quilt. I NEED to make this one for myself!

In this quilt I used Babmoo batting, I love the texture that the batting created.

Fall In Love with Moda ~ Spring 2013 Quilt Market

This darling quilt is another quilt that will be hanging in the Moda Fabrics booth at Spring Quilt Market.

The darling quilt is made from Moda's new pre-cut fabric the Honeycomb, they are 6" hexagons that are laser cut, and trust me, they are fun to work with.

I custom machine quilted this quilt for Moda Fabrics and I had a fun time really making that center section pop!

This quilt has bamboo bating, bamboo batting is quite heavenly to work with, it has a nice amount of loft to it so it really qives you a gorgeous finish.

I'm a little crazy over solid fabrics right now so I'm LOVING this quilt.

Now that Spring Quilt Market is here I get to start sharing the awesome quilts that I had the opportunity to machine quilt.

Today I'll start with one that I machine quilted for Moda Fabrics, this quilt is made from Moda Bella Solids, I love bella solids so this quilt was super fun to machine quilt.

This quilt is a pretty simple pattern, so I decided to really enhance the half square triangles I love what the feathers created and added to this quilt.

I used Quilter Dream Wool batting, and it's just what it sounds like, a dream to quilt with, the little bit of loft that it creates is AWESOME!

Wrapped in Red ~ A Red and White Quilt

One of the most flattering things as a machine quilter / pattern designer is for others to re-make your quilts.

A year or so ago I designed "Wrapped In Red" and the pattern was published in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

Beverly made this version of Wrapped In Red, I LOVE red and white quilts so of course I love how Beverly's quilt turned out.

I machine quilted an all over swirly pattern and I love the simple detail that the quilted gave to the quilt.

Late last year I decided that I was going to skip this spring quilt market. Now that I've finished quilting all of my customer quilts for quilt-market and seeing little peeks on their blogs I'm starting to feel sad about my decision. Holy cow! It's already mothers day weekend, and for the first time in my life I feel like I'm really a mom, the other night just before I fell asleep my husband said to me, what do you want for mothers day, and my first response was, "I want you to help me go through the kids drawers and get rid of the clothes that no longer fit". WOW! I can't believe I just said those words, I'm a real mom! lol
