Emily, from Crazy Old Ladies designed this adorable Hashtag quilt from her new Technicolor fabric, a Michael Miller fabric. I love the modern yet bright look of her new fabric collection.

Emily brought me the quilt and asked me to custom machine quilt some hashtags in the negative space and other than that I could have fun and do whatever I wanted with the quilt.

So, I did!

I machine quilted feathers, pebbles and some random swirls in the background, all of these techniques are taught in my book, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting.

I love how Emily's quilt turned out.

I can't wait to see photos of her booth!

Arrow Quilt ~ Spring 2013 Quilt Market

This cool arrow quilt is another quilt that I custom machine quilted for the Moda Fabrics booth at Spring 2013 Quilt Market.

I love the simplicity of this quilt. I NEED to make this one for myself!

In this quilt I used Babmoo batting, I love the texture that the batting created.

This darling quilt is another quilt that will be hanging in the Moda Fabrics booth at Spring Quilt Market.

The darling quilt is made from Moda's new pre-cut fabric the Honeycomb, they are 6" hexagons that are laser cut, and trust me, they are fun to work with.

I custom machine quilted this quilt for Moda Fabrics and I had a fun time really making that center section pop!

This quilt has bamboo bating, bamboo batting is quite heavenly to work with, it has a nice amount of loft to it so it really qives you a gorgeous finish.

I'm a little crazy over solid fabrics right now so I'm LOVING this quilt.

Now that Spring Quilt Market is here I get to start sharing the awesome quilts that I had the opportunity to machine quilt.

Today I'll start with one that I machine quilted for Moda Fabrics, this quilt is made from Moda Bella Solids, I love bella solids so this quilt was super fun to machine quilt.

This quilt is a pretty simple pattern, so I decided to really enhance the half square triangles I love what the feathers created and added to this quilt.

I used Quilter Dream Wool batting, and it's just what it sounds like, a dream to quilt with, the little bit of loft that it creates is AWESOME!

Wrapped in Red ~ A Red and White Quilt

One of the most flattering things as a machine quilter / pattern designer is for others to re-make your quilts.

A year or so ago I designed "Wrapped In Red" and the pattern was published in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

Beverly made this version of Wrapped In Red, I LOVE red and white quilts so of course I love how Beverly's quilt turned out.

I machine quilted an all over swirly pattern and I love the simple detail that the quilted gave to the quilt.

Late last year I decided that I was going to skip this spring quilt market. Now that I've finished quilting all of my customer quilts for quilt-market and seeing little peeks on their blogs I'm starting to feel sad about my decision. Oh well, it won't be long until fall market and we've already booked our flights and hotel. :)

Holy cow! It's already mothers day weekend, and for the first time in my life I feel like I'm really a mom, the other night just before I fell asleep my husband said to me, what do you want for mothers day, and my first response was, "I want you to help me go through the kids drawers and get rid of the clothes that no longer fit". WOW! I can't believe I just said those words, I'm a real mom! lol

Americana Quilt

Marna pieces a quilt for each one of her grandchildren when they get married. I've machine quilted several of them for her and each one is uniquely beautiful.

This is her most recent quilt. I love American quilts, even though I haven't made very many myself I love the classy look of them.

I think this pattern in particular is pretty cool!

I machine quilted an all over loops and stars pattern, I love the little simple detail that it added.

While Kimberly and Chelsey from Fat Quarter Shop were in my studio they filmed a video of me machine quilting.

As much as we all dislike seeing ourselves on video I really do appreciate the work that the girls at Fat Quarter Shop did in putting these videos together, it's really interesting to see yourself through a different perspective. :)

Star Sampler Quilt

Rita, from Mochi Studios pieced this beautiful quilt, it's a collaboration of block exchanges and other star blocks that she's made.

The quilt itself is just gorgeous. I was so flattered when Rita asked me to machine quilt it for her and told me I could pretty much do whatever I wanted with it. So, with those large borders and beautiful blocks. I had fun!

The blocks really ended up "popping" I love that result.

I used Quilters Dream Wool batting and that gave it just a little bit more texture.

This photo was right after I had begun the machine quilting, it's always fun to share little snippets of what I'm working on over on instagram and facebook.

This is the quilt back, seriously how awesome is that back. I love the giant star!

Lastly another picture of the back. I really do love this quilt!

The girls over at It's Sew Emma have been VERY busy piecing darling quilts for quilt market. This quilt and wall hanging are their new All Aboard pattern featuring Flats by Angela Yosten.

I machine quilted both the twin size quilt and the wall hanging and I totally fell in love with the pattern.

The size of the blocks makes the quilt fun to make and any little boy, or girl, would love to have this quilt! :)

Embroidery Applique

Over the past couple years Kathleen and I have been playing around quite a bit with embroidery applique, we love the fresh, clean, fun look that it can add to simple creations, like our favorite burp cloths.

Recently Kathleen has been designing her own embroidery applique designs, more about this in the next few months, and stitching them out on burp cloths.

Yesterday she stitched out this darling butterfly, yes, on a burp cloth, how adorable!

She also stitched out this fun fish a couple weeks ago, so fun isn't it! :)

Boxes of quilts.....

Have you been wondering why things have been a little quiet around here lately???

Well, here's the reason... quilt market!

Even though I'm not going to be attending spring quilt market a little part of me will be there, lots and lots of quilts that I've machine quilted.

I've been putting in a lot of hours here at the studio machine quilting and I wish I could share photos of every quilt as I finish them, but they are top secret.... for a couple more weeks. :)

Last Friday I'm pretty sure the UPS man decided he hated me..... well, not really, but the boxes in the photo above all arrived the same day. Inside were 26 quilts!

After I shared the photo of the boxes over on instagram a few of you were a little worried about me, not to be too alarmed, 21 of the quilts that arrived I had already machine quilted, whew!

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week! I cannot believe it's already almost MAY! Where has the last month gone?

Little Tools

When I bought my long-arm quilting machine 6 years ago I never imagined that I'd have to learn to become a mechanic as well as a machine quilter.

I can't complain, my machine has been awesome and for as much abuse as it deals with every single day, and some nights, it's an awesome machine.

However, last night I had decided to stay late and work, planning to get a lot done and try to catch up on some quilt market quilting. After about an hour of quilting in silence, meaning with no kids, my machine quit, just quit, it was doing all sorts of crazy things, like stitching when I wasn't even near it and not stitching when I wanted it to. I was so stressed out, and of course it was after the dealer had closed. I went home and didn't sleep well because I was so stressed about the machine. So, this morning I called the dealer, of course they were busy, so I waited a while. Finally I was able to talk to them and they easily could tell what was the problem. The start button had broken and so my machine thought that I was holding down on it. I am so proud of myself, the tools and parts for the long-arm are tiny, but I replaced the button all by myself!

Maybe I was born to be a mechanic......okay, never-mind, I'll just stick with machine quitling. :)

Darcy pieced this darling Flower Girl quilt as a gift for her mother. I love the bright happy fabrics that she used.

Darcy sent me the quilt and asked me to machine quilt an all over flower type pattern.

I love the final result. So dang cute!

This morning I ran to the grocery store to pick up a few items before I started the day. When I was there I decided to pick up a copy of the Summer 2013 issue of Quilts and More.

When I opened it up I was super duper excited to see the Moda Bake Shop ad right inside the cover, squee! I love Moda Bake Shop!

Then I flipped through a couple more pages and was so excited to see Kimberly of Main Street Market Desings, Circus, Circus quilt pattern featured inside!

Last spring I was able to machine quilt this darling quilt for Kimberly featuring her pattern and her darling fabric.

It's always such a huge honor to see your name in print.

Yesterday I spent most of my day machine quilting a darling quilt for Karen of Nellie's Needles, for her quilt market booth.

Since the quilt is for quilt market I can't share the whole quilt, but it turned out fabulous, and my very favorite part was the machine quilting on the dresden plates.

I just love how they turned out....so I had to share!

All Night Sewing - Finally Complete!

Well, about 3 years ago... gasp... I pieced this darling little quilt in an all night sewing class. It was super fun to make and I really love how bright and happy the little quilt is. For some crazy reason, like life in general... this quilt got pushed to the back of the line and I've never gotten around to machine quilting this quilt.

Last week when my friends from Fat Quarter Shop were here filming me in action we needed a little quilt to show machine quilting on. Well, this little beauty finally got it's day to shine!

Now it just needs a binding and I can finally enjoy it!

YAY!!

I'm back from a 3 day workshop and getting caught up on machine quilting. Hope you're all having a fabulous day!

2013 will be the year I learn!

I've been spending lots of nights so far this year learning.... learning to create in ways I've never before done.

Today, and the next few days Kathleen and I are spending in the beautiful Handi Quilter offices.... learning..and my brain is currently mush!
