The name's Father, Father Christmas: Pierce Brosnan shows off Santa inspired white goatee
December 2012

It's just a week until Christmas and it appears that one Hollywood star has decided to grow a white goatee, perhaps in a nod to Father Christmas.
Pierce Brosnan,59, was seen showing off a spot of light coloured facial hair as he shopped in Malibu.
As well as the festive facial hair, the former Bond star was sporting greying locks as he strolled in the sunshine in casual clothes.

The name's Father, Father Christmas: Pierce Brosnan was seen sporting a bright white goatee as he went shopping in Malibu
The British actor may well have been stocking up on some Christmas gifts.
Brosnan starred as James Bond in films from 1995 until 2004.
While Pierce's best known role is playing the secret, his last film saw him turn all emotional for a romantic role.

Too much beard for Bond: The 59-year-old actor looks almost unrecognisable now compared with when he stared as a secret agent

Whistle while you work: The 59-year-old star was wearing a pair of chinos and a sports jacket for the shopping trip
The actor plays a widower who meets, and subsequently, falls for a hairdresser in Love Is All You Need.
Brosnan's next film is A Long Way Down starring Toni Collette and Rosamund Pike.
The film will hit cinemas in 2013.

Out and about: Later in the day Pierce was seen with his wife Keely Shaye Smith

OCTOBER 25, 2012
Here’s your first look at A Long Way Down, directed by Pascal Chaumeil, a frequent collaborator with Luc Besson whose directorial debut was 2010’s Heartbreaker with Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis. A Long Way Down is a dramatic comedy based on the novel by Nick Hornby (About a Boy, High Fidelity), in which four people meet on top of a London skyscraper on New Year's Eve and form a surrogate family to help one another weather the difficulties of their lives”. They had all intended to commit suicide by jumping from the building, but forego that plan and decide to live and help each other instead.
The film boasts a very impressive cast that includes Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Sam Neill, Rosamund Pike, Imogen Poots and Aaron Paul (who replaced Emile Hirsch). We have pics from the set as they film at Camp de Mar in Spain.
We can expect A Long Way Down sometime in 2013, although as of now it only has a confirmed release for Sweden in September. We’ll keep you posted. Enjoy the pics!
Licence to Splash: Pierce Brosnan shows off his fun side as he dunks co-star Toni Collette in the sea during filming
23 October 2012

During his years as the ultra suave James Bond, Pierce Brosnan appeared calm and collected, never letting his demeanour slip.
But now he is free from the super spy role the British actor seems to be finding his fun side.
The 59-year-old was spotted shooting his latest movie, A Long Way Down, in Mallorca, Spain, on Monday.

Splashing around: Former Bond star Pierce Brosnan shows off his fun side while filming new movie A Long Way Down on a beach in Mallorca
He was seen getting into a much different character as he larked around with his co-stars and giggled with delight as he splashed around in the sea while fully clothed.
Pierce even dunked actress Toni Collette's head in the water at one point as he splashed around with a large grin on his face.
He wore shorts and a red short-sleeved checked shirt as he ran into the water.

Take that! He threw himself into character as he dunked co-star Toni Collette in the sea while they were both fully clothed

Having fun? Pierce looked ecstatic as he ran through the water in his shirt and shorts on Monday

You call this work? The former 007 has spent this week on the Spanish island filming more scenes for the upcoming movie
Once he was fully immersed in the sea, Pierce then jumped up and down as Toni joined in the fun.
She was also fully dressed as she had her head and body put under while wearing a dress and cardigan combo.
Brosnan was later seen drying himself off with a towel and enjoying some more leisurely time as he sat on a sun lounger.

Back on dry land: As soon as the splashing scenes were over he grabbed a towel to dry himself off once the excitement had ended

No longer his target: Toni Collette also dried off after getting dunked by her male co-star

Heading back in: Brosnan looked serious once more as he got back out of character and the cameras stopped rolling
Taking some time out form filming, he ensured he was protected from the Spanish rays with a hat on his head and sunglasses over his eyes.
Cutting a much more serious figure, the actor looked on as he enjoyed his surroundings.
Only a day earlier the 59-year-old was spotted with a much more worrying look as he displayed a painful looking black eye.

Hard day at work: The actor spent Monday afternoon on the beach and in the sea as part of the movie schedule

Grinning: Toni was also on set for the whole afternoon as the film slowly comes together
The former 007 star's left eye was noticeably black and blue.
However, fans of the actor can breathe a sigh of relief - it was just make-up for the same film.
He flashed a wide grin to photographers as he got into a car after filming for the day finished, seemingly forgetting he was still sporting his bruised make-up.
A spokesperson for the actor told MailOnline: 'The black eye is not painful. It is movie make-up. Pierce was shooting a fight scene on Long Way Down.'

Dried off: Pierce wore a flat cap as he later took a stroll around the shore covering himself up from the sun

And relax... Brosnan rested on a sun lounger for the rest of his day dressed in the same outfit
The film, based on Nick Hornby's book, also stars Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, and revolves around four people who make a pact to kill themselves on New Year's Eve'.
The 007 actor was making the most of filming in Mallorca.
He was also spotted enjoying a game of golf on Monday.

Cameras rolling: Collette headed to the director's chair to see the outcome of the filmed scenes

Eyeful: Pierce showed off his tough side as he emerged on set with a fake black eye courtesy of the make-up department

Pierce Brosnan: Beauty is limiting
Sunday, 7 October 2012
Pierce Brosnan says some of the beautiful women he has dated were "a bit limiting".The James Bond actor has been married to Keely Shaye Smith since 2001, a decade after the death of his first wife.

Pierce has reminisced about his earlier dating days, admitting he now has a different outlook on the opposite sex.

"I've dated very young models, but that was a long, long time ago, when I was young as well. But since then I have realised what life is really about and I have discovered that a woman is really sexy after 35," he told Italian magazine A. "I've dated some young girls, beautiful like models, but too ordinary and a bit limiting. I prefer not to give names because it wouldn't be elegant and it was a long time ago."

The 59-year-old star believes experience is sexy in a woman. He thinks the world would be a better place if people stopped worrying about the ageing process.

"I think women who know a bit about life are the most interesting. I don't think people in their 60s have anything to envy of those in their 20s," he said.

Soft-spoken Pierce Brosnan has totted up the highest number of kills as James Bond out of the six actors who have taken up the role of the iconic spy till yet, it was revealed on the 50th anniversary of the famous film franchise.Roger Moore and Sean Connery closely follow with 51 kills
His next two Bond films, Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997 and The World Is Not Enough in 1999, unfortunately didn’t match the success of the first, but his fourth and final film Die Another Day again broke a box office record in 2002 taking 431,971,116 dollars.Moore also holds the record for the highest number of kisses with 20 onscreen clinches, closely followed by Connery (18), and Brosnan (12).The statistics correlated for the 50th anniversary of the Bond films come just a few weeks before the latest instalment ‘Skyfall’ is set to hit big screens.
Pierce Brosnan has been reminiscing about his time playing James Bond, ahead of the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, the first 007 film.

"That was a mighty chapter in my life. It was a great chapter," recalled the actor.

"It's the gift that keeps giving, really, because once a Bond always a Bond in some respects. You know, it's a small group of men now who played this role.”

He added: “It was epic, really epic.

“[It was] just a magnificent dream that came true and that one was part of, and that I didn't screw it up, that it seemed to work and make sense and live on."

Brosnan became the fifth actor to take the iconic role, starring in four movies - GoldenEye in 1995, Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997, The World Is Not Enough in 1999 and Die Another Day in 2002.

He followed in the footsteps of Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton.

The new Bond film Skyfall, which stars Brosnan’s successor Daniel Craig, is set to be released at the end of October.

The director thinks Pascal Chaumeil perform adaptation of the novel by Nick Hornby: A Long Way Down. The story revolves around a group of strangers who meet by chance in the top of a skyscraper in London on New Year's Eve in which individuals had gone to commit suicide. The four strangers make a pact to stay alive until Valentine least, and the story follows this group of quirky friends.
The cast includes Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Paul Aaron, and Imogen Poots, with Sam Neill and Rosamund Pike. The movie is being filmed in England and Spain.

The actor stars in Danish director Susanne Bier's Toronto and Venice film festival entry "Love is All You Need".

The film tackles tough topics with humor and warmth.

Brosnan plays Philip, a middle-aged Englishman living in Denmark who has tragically lost his wife.

At the airport on the way to his son's wedding in Italy, he literally bumps into the mother of the bride, Ida.

Ida is a recovering breast cancer patient whose husband has just left her for a younger woman.

After a difficult start, the two are drawn to each other at the shambolic wedding of their children.

Brosnan himself lost his first wife to cancer.

[Pierce Brosnan, Actor]:
"The script really touched my heart, I loved the joy of it, I loved the sadness of it, I loved the romance and me, my own life, being a father, having lost a wife to cancer...to fall in love with this woman who has breast cancer.”

In the movie, Brosnan stars alongside a Danish and Italian cast.

[Pierce Brosnan, Actor]:
"Susanne really intrigues me. I had seen her film In a Better World that year, last year, the winter last year and my agent called me and said 'she wants you for a movie called The Bald-headed Hairdresser, that title alone was kind of intriguing. And then I read it and I said 'yes'. Then I got a little apprehensive because I wasn't sure how I was going to fit in with Danish actors.”

But everything turned out just fine, and Brosnan was welcomed by the other actors, contributing to the feel-good factor of the film.

"Love Is All You Need" premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday to wide acclaim.

Pierce Brosnan halfway through an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival he spontaneously breaks into song.

“Lemon tree very pretty…“ he begins, in his now infamous tenor, before a broad smile curls across his rugged features.

Granted, he’s no Harry Belafonte, but after howling through Mamma Mia! to both cheers and jeers, he was confident enough to offer Danish director Susanne Bier the option of a brief musical exchange in her latest film, Love Is All You Need.

A romantic comedy that also includes the dark cloud of cancer and mortality, Love is All You Need features Brosnan as an uptight widower working in Copenhagen. He’s a produce trader with a penchant for lemons, and over the course of the bittersweet saga set in Southern Italy, he falls for a hairdresser recovering from chemotherapy and a mastectomy.

The Oscar-winning director of In a Better World politely turned him down on his Calypso, but the man who inhabited the persona of James Bond for the better part of a decade says he’s still got a proverbial song in his heart, and a lust for living in the moment.

It’s a conscious thing, he says.

“Some things will give you pain one way or another, but on a professional level, this is a nice place.

“I love being an actor,” he says. “I wanted to be in movies. I wanted success, fame, fortune and all the grand things in life — and I got it.”

The tough part is to figure out what to do next, he says, because fame and fortune come and go. Everything is uncertain.

“But that’s why I love it,” he says. “It’s a constant challenge. And you can lean into that drama, or not lean into it and be subdued and befuddled by it, and have huge resentment about it,” he says.

“I’ve had good success. I got to be centre-stage as James Bond, and I got away with it, one way or another. And that’s a gift that keeps on giving in many respects. It’s a small group of men who have played the role, and now is a time to do interesting work and have the unexpected surprises and really, just play,” he says.

“My wife calls it legal cheating: The whole Bond experience of it all let me play it all out as a man and as an actor, and then go home to my wife and my family. It’s what we all strive for in a way. But sometimes, you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone,” he says.

“Hopefully, you have a sense of humour about yourself, and can exercise some grace under pressure, but in the end, for me, it’s about the joy of making movies and being in a situation like this, where I get to work with a director like Susanne Bier to make a story of life, love and middle age —- and a son who doesn’t know if he is coming or going…”

Brosnan is wearing an azure jacket that looks like denim, but seems to be made of raw silk. His watch is one of those rose-gold timepieces that silently ticks away the seconds of a good life, and his entire demeanour suggests a man who’s eaten the world’s oyster raw and saved the pearl.

“I am happy,” says Brosnan, who turns 60 next May. “But there’s a fragility to it.”

Perhaps it’s this awareness that makes his lemon-man in Bier’s film so charming, and so convincing.

“Well, I know something about loss,” he says of his portrayal of a widower. Brosnan lost his first wife, Cassandra Harris, in 1991. The former sister-in-law to Richard Harris and a Bond girl in For Your Eyes Only lost her battle with cancer, leaving Brosnan with three children.

He remarried a decade later, and started a new family.

“I also know something about cancer and I know something about being a father, and I know there are times in your life when you end up with romance and affairs of the heart,” he says.

“But then somebody truly captivates you, and so, it can be as simple as that, and as complex as that.”

Brosnan says when he can, he prefers to keep things simple rather than complex. “I’ve always been grounded by my Irishness. I’m the same person I was when I started out. And I have a wonderful wife and children.”

Working with Bier let Brosnan explore the details of the everyday tragi-comedy called life through the lemon-man as he turns all the bitterness in his life into lemonade.

The key to squeezing it all out, he says, is love.

“Love is a very hard thing… and a very gorgeous thing. To feel something so strong in your heart and in your belly when you see someone who makes your world happy, it’s beautiful. I think Susanne captures it in the film,” he says.

“He finds someone who makes him feel alive again.”

Brosnan doesn’t think there are enough movies like Love Is All You Need, a romantic comedy laced with dark threads of mortality and sexual identity. Most films in a lovey-dovey vein turn away from the pain.

“Life is harsh and getting harsher, and there is a lot of confusion and bleakness. Susanne understands that, but she has such humanity, so that when you see a movie like this, it’s a breath of fresh air.”

Love is All You Need will be released in Canada by Mongrel Media in 2013.

The actor says he was the widower lost, but then he met his current wife, Keely
VENICE. - At 59, Pierce Brosnan maintains a magnetism that Danish director Susanne Bier took advantage well in his romantic comedy Love is all you need, he presented at the Mostra.

With a white shirt, beige pants and a martini in hand, Brosnan jokes and sincere with El Universal on the terrace of Hotel Villa Laguna del Lido.

"I was very happy when I saw the film for the first time five weeks ago in Paris, a rainy Sunday morning. You never know how these things are going to be and how you will get the work you did so I sat there, I held my breath and I got carried away, "says Irish actor.

Pierce is generous in speaking. So, do not hesitate to tell how this movie played important aspects of your life, because like its protagonist, Philip, he also lost his first wife (Cassandra Harris), who died of ovarian cancer.

"I met Keely in a very difficult time in my life when I felt like a character in this movie, Philip. I was lost after my wife died and I spent at least three years trying to get by until this woman came into my life and even though I resisted there was a time when I caught "recalls Brosnan, who confesses a hopeless romantic and states that as the title of the film, love is all you need in life.

"Love and only love. Now more than ever it is essential, especially by the doubts and confusion being created by electronics and media. There are many things that make you lose contact with friends and family, so I think that yes, love is vital, "he says smiling heartthrob who managed to keep their marriage for over a decade.

The secret to keep, he says, is in the everyday. "I love my wife every day, in the morning, in the afternoon, at night. I have next to a beautiful woman and could not live without it. It is the mainstay of my life, my family. "

He would not be Bond, but Connery

Another thing that is vital is the fact Brosnan have been fortunate to pursue his passion, acting.

"The truth is that when I became an actor never particularly wanted to be James Bond, but I confess that as a kid from the suburbs Irish," James Bond "was among the first films I saw in 1964. You can imagine what I was seeing Sean Connery for me, the magic of movies, film intoxication. When I saw it, I was very clear that he wanted his job, "says laughing.

Yoga and good genes

About the word most feared by everyone in Hollywood, aging, Pierce is confident, as it remains one of the sexiest men on the big screen, something which he is due to genes.

"How have I done to age so well? I do not know! I think I have good genes Irish and also due to the moderation in life. I try to stay well, do some yoga, eating a good diet and exercise, "he says.

We spotted actor Pierce Brosnan having a little wet and wild fun while filming in London, England. The former 007 star is shooting a comedy drama or “dramedy” as we say in the biz, called A Long Way Down with Toni Collette and Imogen Poots.

According to IMDB, it’s about “four people meet on New Year’s Eve and form a surrogate family to help one another weather the difficulties of their lives.”

We have seen Irish actor Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. In fact, in India, it is not the Remington Steel television series or Dante’s Peak or The Thomas Crown Affair that Brosnan got noticed and written about. It was Ian Fleming’s Bond that caught people’s fancy. And not just in India as the

legendary film critic, Derek Malcolm, now into his eighties and with the Evening Standard in London, tells me. Malcolm narrates an incident in London when especially young girls went crazy seeing Brosnan after one of his Bond adventures. “This is my audience”, he told Malcolm. Probably, he should have added, and “they are fans of 007”.

After his action sequences as the British secret agent that kept us at the edge of our seats for many years before a new Bond emerged, it was wonderful to see a relaxed Brosnan in a Susanne Bier-helmed movie, Love Is All You Need, which premiered at the ongoing Venice Film Festival.

The work was as refreshing as Brosnan was in his new avatar: with much of cinema on the Lido talking about violent Japanese Yakuzas, incest, torture and other form of human degradations, Bier’s movie was a delightful love story set in extraordinarily pleasing part of Italy, and the occasion, a great wedding that to me seemed as exciting and trying as one in India.

Danish director Bier, whose sober thriller, In A Better World, won the foreign language Oscar in 2011, makes Brosnan so human that one is bound to forget what a ruthless guy he was in his Bond shoes. He plays Philip, a rich widower and big shot in the Copenhagen fruit and vegetable market. He is hosting his son’s wedding in his villa at Sorrento, and there is also the bride’s mother, Ida (Trine Dyrholm), who is just recovering from cancer. Somewhat nervous as she is awaiting the final “cured” signal from her doctors, and also devastated by her husband deserting her for a younger woman, Ida’s first brush with Philip at the airport parking is far from pleasant. It is quite disastrous.

But well, into the marriage – where Philip’s sister-in-law is trying to revive an old romance with him – he finds Cupid darting arrows at his heart which he thought had gone cold.

There are many aspects in Love Is What You Need which are predictable as there many which are not. But the work is not a comedy. It is more a romance, a serious romance that can only happen between two mature and middle-aged adults.

Some great picture postcard settings, some sorrow, some harsh truths laced with fun and wit make Bier’s creation something quite memorable.

Sunday September 2, the film from Denmark/Sweden “Love Is All You Need” premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. The film is directed by Susanne Bier and stars Pierce Brosnan, Trine Dyrholm and Kim Bodnia. “Love Is All You Need” is being featured in the “out of competition” category.

In “Love Is All You Need,” two very different families meet in a beautiful, old Italian villa, in the middle of a lemon grove. The occasion is a romantic wedding, meticulously planned to the smallest detail. Of course, nothing goes according to plan and yet everything works out in the end.

View slideshow: "Love Is All You Need" red carpet premiere at the Venice International Film Festival. In the 69th edition of the International Film Festival of Venice, but out of competition, Irish actor Pierce Brosnan presented on Sunday his latest film, "Love Is All You Need," which tells a story of love and overcoming of an already mature couple.

The film, which follows the same spirit of Mediterranean bliss of "Mamma Mia" (2008), in which Brosnan plays the character Sam, counts toward the Danish Susanne Bier, winner of the Golden Globe and the Oscar for Best Picture speech not English in 2011 as "In A Better World".

"I think there are some similarities between this movie and 'Mamma Mia'. Both speak of love, family and marriage. But this film has a much more realistic aspect. Speaks much of our time," the Irish actor in press conference of presentation of the film in Venice.

In this new feature, the former agent 007, 59, plays Philip, a businessman widower who runs a company in Copenhagen and see your life change after meeting the family of his future son during the wedding even in southern Italy.

Philip, who is still suffering the sudden loss of his wife in an accident, ends up being surprised to know the mother of his daughter, who, in turn, also arrives at the wedding of his daughter in a complicated time of marriage. Performed by Danish actress Trine Dyrholm, character, called Ida, still fighting cancer. "If you read the script, that's enough. Enchants If the words of the character and begins to let the character come to you. Has a connection with my personal life. Did I miss a woman cancer patient - his first wife, Cassandra Harris - a man and I know how it feels to lose a woman so tragic, "said Brosnan.

"I'm halfway through my life and Philip (his character) is also in the middle of his life. There are many aspects that made me feel attracted to the character, which I can relate," added the actor, who explained that for him the film also speaks "of hope, faith and trust" between a father and a son.

The plot is mainly acclimated in a village of the Italian peninsula of Sorrento, perfect setting for Philip and Ida. To give an even greater atmosphere of romance, the soundtrack features popular Italian songs, perfect for legitimizing this love Mediterranean.

"This character is a challenge, since I've never done a comedy before. Much drama and I made this woman smiling, body and soul alive and very feminine was a different thing from the point of view of my interpretation. Was a challenge.'s A character very beautiful, "said Danish actress.

"Pierce Brosnan is very charming, bright and fun. Was nervous to meet him. After all, he is a star. But from the first test, he took me by the hand, looked me in the eyes and recited. This relaxed me completely. Then set all women were enchanted by it, "said Trine.

Already a director Susanne Bier, who reverts to Trine as its protagonist, the film points out that, despite involving a fight against cancer, it is still a comedy. "From the beginning we agreed to do a comedy. But, as we talk about cancer, we thought it best to treat it lightly. More of a comedy as such, would say it's a love story with a very strong comic vein "noted filmmaker.
