Jason consulted the Swell Season's Marketa Irglova for songwriting tips and she told him to "include as much personal information as you can." As you can tell from this new tune - which includes Jason's full acting CV, phone #, and some other (very) personal details - he took the advice to heart.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have just released an exclusive iTunes Originals album which features some old stuff, some new stuff, and some different versions of stuff. Here is one standout from the release, an acoustic version of "Hysteric".

Karen O is best known for her charismatic leadership that often commands attention on high energy tracks that make you want to move. What makes her such a rare creature is that her leadership shines just as brightly on acoustic tracks like this. Sometimes it lies in the little things -the way she says certain words, when she let's loose and when she holds back. She's definitely one of the greatest frontwomen out right now. Saw this at PMA.

Errr! Remix from Dr. Rosen Rosen. This is dope. It's one of those hard-to-pull-off remixes that changes the whole vibe of the song and still sounds natural. Not a replacement, but definitely a nice addition. Thanks to WLII.

The Chairs - "David"

Now don't take this the wrong way, but The Chairs have all the elements of your typical "indie rock" band before all these motherfuckers started getting "psychedelic" "electro" or "unclassifiable". Before you felt awkward about labeling certain music indie rock because it has too many synths or because you have to ask yourself "Can it really be indie if it was featured on Gossip Girl, the OC, Grey's Anatomy, and the New Moon Soundtrack?" or "Is indie rock a genre, or an abbreviation for independent?" We may never be able to answer these questions, but I can tell you I feel comfortable labeling this album as indie rock for the following reasons:

1) Singer that sounds a little nerdy, a little nasal at times, in a charming way.
2) Slightly experimental, but nothing that you can't comprehend by the end of the song.
3) Very little testerone. (This overlaps with #1 at times.)
4) A drum. A guitar. A bass. Keys. All identifiable in each song.
5) Quirky lyrics that you may not relate to, but pretend to because you like the melody.
6) Makes you want to put on a flannel shirt that's a little too small and a pair of shoes that doesn't look brand new.

Am I missing any indie rock elements? Again, don't take it wrong, indie rock. I love you, and I am feeling this new album by The Chairs. Check out "David" below. Stream the entire album here.

I've talked about this documentary, so I'm not gonna go into it again, but it looks like an interesting look into the life of a pop culture icon. Next week: the 10th to 20th minutes of The Carter. Not really. I haven't watched this yet, so I'm about to check it out now. Thanks to FirstUp.

Felt 3 - "She Sonnet"

If you didn't know, Felt 3 dropped today. Felt is Slug of Atmosphere and Murs of Living Legends. For this project, Aesop Rock is the producer. From the second I heard this beat in some promo video, I couldn't wait to listen to this song in full. It's definitely one of the immediate standouts on the album to me.

As for the whole album, it's a great release and it's unbelievable that Slug and Murs have continued to make music on their own terms. The album stays true to the roots of both artists and Aesop Rock's production adds a slightly dark, industrial element that's more Def Jux than Rhymesayers, but the two veteran emcees ride that wave nicely. Catch me with this song on repeat for the next 3 days!
