Family of Three with Covid

27-Mar: It was a lovely Sunday. Decided to bring my BabyErn to mom's house to meet up with my nieces & nephew. The children had a great time playing. Brought them to the field to run and sweat. Such a good evening for the children to be outside, enjoying the scenery without any electronic gadgets.

Late that night, BabyErn had a fever; 38°C. Probably from playing and sweating too much. Did the self-test. Negative. Fever couldn't subside even after 3ml of Avadol ( children's panadol ). Doesn't seems right. So, we drove back to in-law's house immediately. ( She stays with her grandparents on weekdays )

28-Mar: Took her to A&E at Island Hospital midnight. Temperature went up as high as 39.7°C. Nurses immediately inserted voltaren into her rectum. Did RTK Test & confirmed positive around 1AM.

BabyErn's temperature was like a roller-coaster ride, up and down & up and down. Her temperature was very dependent on her intake of avadol & voltaren.

29-Mar: Taking care of a sick toddler was not easy. Tired!

30-Mar: With the support from Panadol, her temperature was under control. However, I myself started to feel unwell. Tested with self-test kit; negative.

31-Mar: While the lil one recovered, both the parents were finally positive. Fever, cough, sore throat...

Since this post is way overdue, let me summarize;

The first 5days since confirmed positive was challenging. My throat was swollen. I cough non stop.. PCR result showed CT Value below 18. I also lost my voice. I was being advised to eat the Chinese med, Lian Hwa but I did not take it. I only take medicines from clinics. Ooops!

Anyway, recovering from cough took longer, probably 2-3 weeks. The rest was history...

The Covid-19 Impact Part II

Getting infected by Covid-19 is no joke. Yet, there are still people out there who doesn't give a damn on taking extra precautions to avoid this deadly virus.

Since I started this new job, I've been working from home for these past 8 months. Fortunately, I am grateful that my family and I are still safe from being infected.

But unfortunately, my dad & grandma were infected in Sept'21. Thank God that they were just level 1 with mild symptoms.

Days later, my bro-in-law was found to be positive after he went to take his 2nd dose of AZ. Two days later, it was my nephew's turn then niece and the last one was my sister....

At least their symptoms were mild and there were no further complications.

Unfortunately, my ex-boss in P was tested positive after returning from Johor for his mom's funeral. His condition went from bad to worse thus he was admitted into Adventist Hospital. From Level 3 to Level 5 and to the extend of incubation and sedation. Witnessing it first hand was NO JOKE. It was so heart broken to see him lying on the bed with all these ventilation machines and piping everywhere. And with god's blessing & the professionalism of the medical team there, he managed to survive and currently resting in normal ward after being in ICU for almost 3 weeks.

But my best friend's grandma didn't make it. She was category 4 and she passed away in private hospital within a week....

I am writing this post to remind people ( who still reads my blog ) to continue to practice social distancing & avoid going out if it's unnecessary. We do not want to be the carrier and cause others to suffer..

hey hey hey! What's up, what's up?!!

It's time to blog again. Got the inspiration from Sex/Life on writing again but unfortunately I ain't Billie and my husband ain't Brad or even Cooper. So sad!

Anyway, what has changed since my last post? Hmmm....

- I'm a married woman ( no longer the teenage I used to be in the picture above. Sob sob )
- Still with the same boring man that I've dated back in high school ( well, loyalty has been one of my UNIQUE traits )
- A mother to a 3-year-old daughter with a birth date that falls on 911.

Sadly, we are all now facing a pandemic with thousands of people dying daily worldwide. It sounds just like Thanos trying to wipe off half of mankind population with no mercy.

So, how does this pandemic effects me and my family then?

- We no longer go to shopping malls weekly like we used to.
- We no longer hang out with families& friends anymore even at home.
- No more clubbing. This one damn sad weiii... ( partly because I am a mother also la )
- Wearing face masks are mandatory just like wearing bras when you step out of the house.
- Avoiding people & maintaining social distance as if they are contagious regardless age, race etc ( who cares if this is consider unfriendly now )

Practically I am home 24/7 since I started a new job & role that allows me to WFH ( trendy short form ). What else can I do besides sleeping, eating, working, Netflix-ing, Shopee-ing, Lazada-ing and watching Hotel Transylvania over & over again!?

Oh ya.. What is trendy questions/statements now?

" You cucuk already?"

" You cucuk which brand ahhh?"

" SPICE not AZ nia meh? Got Pfizer ahh? "

Our Last Goodbye - Part I

I'm writing this post to honor and reveal what actually happened to my late grandma who passed away on 25-5-2015. This is the least I can do as I still grieve over her death.

This is my appreciation message as posted on my Facebook account:

First and foremost, I would like to convey my gratitude towards people around me who text me with words of encouragement, people who came to the wake service to provide us the moral support that we need, people who sent us flowers and gave white gold. We truly appreciate it.

Everyone was telling me that we should be thankful that she was able to live for more than 80 years, a little longer than most of the Silent Generation these days. But did you know she suffers before she leaves this world? She was an ordinary old woman with health problem but able to take care of herself. Eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom was not an issue to her. She took care of herself when my aunt who is single goes to work every day.

It all started about months ago when she fell down and fractured her legs. She was admitted to the ICU in one of the private hospitals in Penang. Besides having her diabetes problem, she was advised to undergo a surgery on her legs. According to the doctor, if we were to say no to the surgery, she will be bedridden forever. If yes, she will need months to recover besides needing to go for physiotherapy sessions. At the end of the day, we decided to let her undergo the surgery with her consent as well. So, the surgery went smoothly. All she needs was plenty of rest on the bed. With that being said, she then suffered from the bed sore. We sent her to a nursing home near the Penang Turf Club during the recovery period as all my relatives are working.

Little did we know that this is the most regretful decision we made. During the first week there, she was being well treated. The next two weeks, she was being ill-treated to the stage where the caretakers (the maid) did not feed her with food. Before I jump into any conclusion to make my readers misunderstand, my grandma did mistreat them by scolding them vulgar words and dirty the room. But does an old lady like her deserve to be left on the bed all the time with no food? When the nursing home representative followed my grandma to the private hospital for her check-up, she couldn’t give a definite answer on her condition when the doctor asked. Even the bed sore condition was getting worse. Come on, we paid the home around RM3, 000 per month without including additional charges for her necessities and her medical needs.

On the third week at the nursing home, her condition was getting worse.We had to re-admit her to the private hospital as she was lack of blood and lose a lot of water in her body. We were shocked to see how much weight she lose during that time frame. My uncles confronted the owner of the nursing home and she apologized. She is in-charge of the main branch near the General Hospital while her son is taking care of the second branch where my grandma used to stay.

You think an apology can make up to the damaged you’ve done to my family?

If you think is so difficult to take care of her, you can tell us straight to the face and we will look for another nursing home for her. My aunt even wants to resign from her job to take care of my grandma. Bear in mind she was a bed-ridden old lady who needs medical attention especially her diabetes and bed sore. How much damage can she do to your maids?

Gratitude

Gratitude.
Gratitude doesn't exist anymore.
When you are no longer valuable, people will push you away.
They will only remember the burden you gave them,
not the wonderful things you had done for them or their family.

Lesson learnt.
Like it or not, money is the root of all evil.
People changed once they have the power and money.

We will wait and see.
I believe in karma.
What you do unto others will be done unto you.
Time will show you that we are at the mercy of God.

Tough Working Life

It's been a month since i started working in the new company.

Everything is still so new to me.

And the fact that i have to start to "fly" without learning to "walk"
makes me regret my decision of resigning from J.

It was indeed a very tough decision to quit from J.

I was very happy there.

I have a "family" there who i can talk to about almost everything.

I have awesome colleagues who are in the same generation as me.

And people kept questioning me why i choose to leave since I am happy there.

The reason is simple.

"No headcount to convert you to a permanent employee"

This is the answer from my previous manager.

So she sent me to another department and this is how i met new awesome colleagues.

I was happier to be in Purchasing Dept than Business Dept.

It took me some time to decide to start looking for new job and give up this.

On my last day there, my tears dropped as my family give me some advises.

They told me that they're sad that i have to leave but
they do want me to explore and learn more for my future.
They want to see me grow as an individual.

And my Mama Ong hugged me and cried too.

My Daddy Chong looked very sad as well.

It was a indeed a very touching moment and I feel so much love from them.

As i walked out the company,
both my parents stood at the lobby and waved goodbye.

I do not want to look back.

It sounded so dramatic right?
Hahahaha!

I don't know about them but I really care about them from the bottom of my heart.

I believe timing is everything.

I entered the new company and I'm assigned to a project related to Aerospace.

And the manager just left this project and a new hire became the manager.

She came in one week earlier than me.

And there are a lot of things which are new to her as well.

Her expectations on me are too high.

I can hardly breath as she pushed me beyond my capabilities.

And my colleagues are too busy to guide me.

No proper learning process at all.

Will I survive in this company?

Time will tell......

My internship program gonna end in less than a month from now.

Was given the opportunity to stay.

One of the main reasons I choose to stay is because of my manager who is like a father-figure to me.

And also my colleagues who treat me like their daughter..

They make me feel so comfortable there.

But things have changed now.

A new opportunity is given.

A shortcut to achievement.

A new environment.

Never mind. Let me write this just like a diary!

Today, I want to talk about my internship in an EMS company.
It's been three months since i started my internship.
I remembered attending the interview session last year
during my preparation for L'Oreal Brandstorm 2013.
Schedule was tight, time was limited and I feel so tensed up.
I do not know what to prepare for the interview.
I was thinking,
"I sudah attend so many interviews before. All also get! takut apa?"
(Overconfident perhaps?)

Guess what?
I was bombarded with so many tough questions until I was speechless.
It was one of the toughest job interview I had so far.
And i was like....... DIE ALREADY LA!!
Will I get the offer to be an intern there?
At the same time, I was quite confident as well.
"He's keen to hire me la since he bombarded me with so many question"
Hahahaha! Mixed feeling obviously!

Second round interview by Business Unit Director.
No questions were thrown on me.
He basically explained what we have to do there.
Wah! Chances are high now!
Hahahaha!!

And i got another offer from another company.
DILEMMA!! Which offer should I accept?
P or J?
Both are competitors!
In the end, i decided to go for J and I have never regret doing so!!

I am soooooooooo grateful to be where I am right now.
My manager is a very capable leader who never stop giving me valuable advice.
He even prepare me a personal progress tracker to ensure
I am able to learn a lot during my six months here.
He also can siau-siau with me and my colleagues.
Honestly, I am very impress with his capabilities.
He is also like a father figure to me.
Sometimes, things weren't going according to the plan.
He did not panic or freak out.
Instead, he calmly figure out a way to settle the issues.
(no wonder his white hair is getting more! hahaha!!)

And my awesome colleagues. I only have two for my team in my department.
(FYI, our company uses workcell design)
Both of them have been guiding me throughout my three months there.

As you know, I am a SLOW learner.
I lack the capacity to absorb information fast! haha!
And both of them have been very patient in coaching me.
They never throw tantrum at me.
They never scold me when I made mistakes.
They never push me away when I needed help.
They even treat me like their own family.
Where to find such a good team to work with?!!

I FEEL SOOOOOO BLESSED!!
I want to thank Him for giving me this opportunity and made me who I am today.
If I am still the "me" 10 years ago,
I will never get the chance to experience all these.
Of course I thank my family and friends who have been very supportive.
And also my high school teachers!
I believe my life has changed drastically since I became a counselor in Form3.

Rambut is Hair

I'm actually blogging from a hair saloon!

Lol. I know this is so lame but I'm bored!!!

HOLIDAY!!! Yeah babe! It's holiday!!

Have I been productive during this semester break?

Obviously NO!!

I seems to be proud of that...

I've been busy rotting..

And not to mention, fishing too..

Have been fishing with my boy at Esplanade for several nights.

And we actually managed to get about 9 fishes so far..

It's a good achievement for us as we are newbies and know nothing about fishing.

We actually met some experts there and they did teach us some techniques.

They aimed for big fishes while we aimed for fishes regardless of the size.

Fishing is not my passion but since my boy enjoys it, I choose to 'pursue' it with him.

Sounds so 'wai tai' hor? Hahahahahahahaha!!!

How about you guys?

Most of my friends are working part time or undergoing internship.

While they earning money, my money is 'burning'.

Watching movie every week and supper almost every night okay!!

Hahahaah!

Hmm, what else should I update?

Oh ya! My grandma!!

My grandma was hospitalized for almost a week Island Hospital.

Apparently, her glucose level was too low.

Not to mention, her diabetes level was not stable as well.

Anyway, I wanna thank all those who shows concern.

Appreciate it.

One day after she was discharged, we went to StoneBay Restaurant to celebrate her birthday.

Honestly, she did not seems happy about it.

An the reason we did the birthday dinner is because 'ang kong' said so.

The purpose is to prolong her life and must do the big and grand dinner 2days before the real day.

This might sounds ridiculous to certain people ( and to me as well) but what to do?

We need to respect the decision made by the elderly.

Friendship

To those who know me well,
i am that type of person who is very concern about friendship.
I mean..... real friendship.
not those "hi bye" friends......
at times, I do feel "mistreated" which lead to disappointment

i used to be a counselor
and still is to certain people.
i asked myself repeatedly,
"why you can counsel your friends and even strangers but not yourself?"
"what will you say to the so called 'victim'?"
i repeatedly this to console myself
Am i being silly? LOL

(i am not a good counselor FYI)

so i try putting myself in their shoes.
will i do the same thing?
perhaps yes, perhaps no..
i will never know until i experience it myself.

new hobby

Yes! my new hobby is fishing!

hahahaha!

all my friends keep asking me the same question.

"what's so fun about fishing?"

the truth is, fishing is a boring hobby!

hahahahahaha!!

we need to sit and hold the rod for hours.

and the disgusting part is,

you need to use worms or "ham" as bait.

Ewww... imagine the blood splat on your hands!!!!

and still, i am having fun fishing.

WHY?

there's only one reason.

The reason is the feeling of satisfaction when you finally catch a fish.

The feeling is indescribable!

My boyfriend and I regularly visit the beach or seaside to see people fishing.

About a month ago, we decided to fish ourselves! hahaha!

Our 1st bait, prawns!

Unfortunately, we did not manage to catch any fishes that night

2nd bait, worms!

And we got it!!! 2 fishes within 15minutes!!

Fishing activity has been postponed due to exams and low tide!
