Oh its party time...and the NFL ballers are were in full effect last night at Kelly Rowland's Surprise Birthday Party Hosted By Tank & LaLa Vasquez at Opera in Hollywood, California. I know a lot of folks think Beyonce attending the affair was big news after Kelly fired her dad as her manager, but I beg to differ. Anytime a baller is on the scene, the party is H-O-T!!

Ovie Mughelli (Falcons), TO, and newcomer (to my blog at least) Matthew Hatchette.

TE Vernon Davis of the San Fransisco 49ers. I wonder if he consulted with TO before attending, their outfits are oddly similar.

So back to Matthew Hatchette..he's a baller turned actor. He played in the league for 6 years as a WR for the Vikings, Jets and Jaguars. Excuse me because I didn't know. Currently, Matthew lives in Los Angeles and has a promising acting career. He has been in several films. Recently he released "The Take" staring John Leguizamo, Rosie Perez, & Tyrese Gibson, which he executive produced and appears in, under his film production company Hatchet Films. Great example of 'life after football'.

FINALLY...Favre calls it QUITS!!

Brett Favre is retiring 'again'. He instructed his agent to contact the NY Jets organization and inform them of his plans. Good, now maybe the NFL and ESPN can move past the "Favre Era." Can you tell how sad this makes me?

Check out what Favre had to say: In an email to ESPN's Ed Werder, Favre indicated he had no regrets about finishing his career with the Jets rather than with the Green Bay Packers franchise he represented for his previous 16 NFL seasons. He specifically praised Tannenbaum, Jets owner Woody Johnson and fired coach Eric Mangini _ and even mentioned Thomas Jones and Kerry Rhodes, both of whom were publicly critical of Favre after the team's collapse in the final month of the season prevented the Jets from making the playoffs.

"Mike and Woody, as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding," Favre said in the email. "My teammates_Thomas and Kerry included_were a pleasure to play with. Eric (Mangini) could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance."

In other news...Troy Aikman will graduate from UCLA this June. :-)

Lawrence Julius Taylor born February 4, 1959, nicknamed L.T., retired Hall of Famer is about shimmy and shake for the upcoming season on Dancing with the Stars. ABC revealed their line up and its appears that having a pro football player on the show is a prerequisite and I LOVE IT! Taylor has some big shoes to fill since Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Jason Taylor and Warren Sapp all did a phenomenal job.

Yup the NFC pulled it out in the end, thanks to Larry Fitzgerald. Dude is the QUINTESSENTIAL WR. I know teams are plotting their coverage for him next season...they have too. Other than Larry's great play, I'd like to make one more observation. Jay Cutler should have sat this one out. This is all.

The 51st Annual GRAMMY's went down in LA last night but you already know there were a few parties happening prior too. Check out which NFL ballers and significant others were spotted on the red carpet.

First, Reggie Bush stopped by the Cash Money's Pre-Grammy Party Honoring Lil Wayne at the Montage Hotel. You know he hooked up with Kim later....

Then...Reggie Bush & Kim Kardashian were spotted at a private residence arriving at Russell Simmon's "Celebration To Grammy Award Nominees" in Beverly Hills.
Now this is more like it!! A couple that coordianates always looks great.

Actress Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete arrive at the House Of Hype Island Def Jam Grammy Party at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills. These two have been together forever. I can love it.

Despite the sentiments of some (I won't mention names), fans are flocking to the practices of the AFC/NFC Pro Bowlers. For the locals, letting go of the Pro Bowl is not easy. Despite bring $14M to their country, they love the game. I totally understand and after 2010 they can have it back. I just need one, affordable chance to see a Pro Bowl.

Troy Polamalu and James Harrison are still going strong. They'll collapse once the game is over.

NFL Pro Bowler Justin Tuck of the New York Giants signed the sleeve of Zondra Baker’s shirt yesterday after a reception held for the new NFL Youth Education Town (YET) in Nanakuli. Zondra is the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii Youth of the Year nominee. The facility will serve youths ages 7 to 17 with a library, learning center, computer and technology center, garden, amphitheater and more. The official opening and blessing will be held in March.

Sometimes, if you sit still long enough, what you're looking for will come to you. I didn't have anything to blog about today, and then low-n-behold..another ex/retired/washed up baller makes the police blotter.

According to TMZ, Former NFL superstar Terry Glenn was arrested in Dallas last week after cops say he was running around a hotel drunk out of his mind and carrying weed -- oh, and he may have been naked. Glenn, who was released from the Cowboys over the summer, was charged with public intoxication and marijuana possession at the Extended Stay Deluxe Hotel around 10:30 PM.

For those wondering much like myself, what kind of hotel is that? 'Stay Deluxe' is a hotel that has oversized suites with full kitchens and wireless web. It's all designed to make you feel at home. Maybe that why Terry thought he could get drunk, smoke weed and fall out on the floor...smh

Don't Forget the Pro Bowl!!

I know, I know…a lot of you feel this game is a waste of time. I however, refuse to do so. It’s still a part of the NFL and dammit, I’m watching. I understand that the game moves slow and there’s not much to see, UNTIL the 4^th quarter when the money is on the line. That’s when its gets serious. But for the newbies, they don’t understand that. Let’s not forget Sean Taylor’s huge hit on a punt return or Adrian Peterson’s performance last year. I also enjoy watching the interaction of the players who for 17 weeks were bitter enemies, high-five one other and chit chat on the side line. Next year's Pro Bowl is set for Miami after 30 years in Hawaii and will be played a week before the Super Bowl. Although I’m very excited with the change, some players aren’t all that happy with it.

Ray Lewis, the Baltimore Ravens' 10-time Pro Bowl linebacker, said it is "sad" that the NFL All-Star game is being moved from Hawaii for at least one year. Next year's game is in Miami and Lewis, who lives in Florida, said he might not play in it if selected.

"Yeah. Seriously. That's no vacation going to your same city," said Lewis, who played college football at Miami. "I live in Florida, so why am I going to drive my car and say 'Hey, I think I'll go play in the Pro Bowl right down the road.'

Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez, another 10-time Pro Bowler, could see the virtues of spreading the game elsewhere. "I understand why they're doing it," Gonzalez said. "I think it's giving those fans on the mainland a chance to be a part of this game. Kind of like the NBA All-Star game, or baseball or hockey or whatever. Give those fans a chance. Especially on the East Coast, it's hard to get to Hawaii, especially in these economic times. But at the same time, I'm going to miss Hawaii if I'm a part of it next year."

Please understand that for the next couple of days my blog might as well be an ode to the the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are the champions and I'm giving them all the recognition they deserve. It's hard out here for a pimp, but its much harder to win the Super Bowl. *wink*

It's not even Friday but the parties in Tampa Bay are in full swing. Ray Lewis and Reggie Bush were tabbed to host the Moves Magazine party at the Venue Club and Ray was asked countless time on the red carpet about him being a free agent. He never did answer the question. His response, “I just want to enjoy my party." So, don't worry about Ray Ray, he'll be alright!

Yes, yes, and yes! That's my answer to everthing today. We're hours away from the weekend, which brings us closer to Sunday and minutes away from the Super Bowl. I hope you've enjoyed my post this week. For my final thoughts in regards to the 2008-09 season and Super Bowl prediciton, I teamed up with "the producer" of Pigskin Pundits for a podcast (my first ever) for a nice conversation about Twitter, Tom Brady, the surprising Arizona Cardinals. I was so nervous and you'll hear that with all of my umms and yeahs.

Are you getting excited? The big day is almost here! I've shared rules, food recipes and if you like vodka as I do, here's a drink I'm sure you'll like. woot! woot!!

The Grape Fizz

2 ¼oz. Three Olives Grape Vodka (this is about a shot and a half...so be mindful)

½ oz. Grape Schnapps

1 oz. (freshsqueezed) lemon/limeade

½ oz. soda float
Combine all but the soda in a shaker tin full of ice and shake vigorously.

Strain into a martini glass with a Sugared Rim (purple if you have it)
add three frozen grapes (red)
Top with soda.

To serve Punch style...
1 1L bottle of Three Olives Grape Vodka
1 L Simply Lemonade
1 L Simply Limeade
1 20 oz bottle of soda
1/2 Bottle of Grape Pucker
combine all but the soda in a large bowl of ice....
Strain off into Pitchers and add soda on top along with frozen (red) grapes.

He has three sons, two he has during the summer and one who is due in June, 2009.
