My friend Adi (he also writes here) recommended me an online store that you can but hundreds of gadgets for very very cheap price and free shipping!! Its name is DealExtreame.

Since then I made several transactions and I’m very happy about the stuff I received. And one of the best, at least for me is that you pay with PayPal. So you don’t need to give you credit card to this Hong-Kong based online shop.

Here are several items I bought:

	2-in-1 LED + Pointer Flashlight 4 PACKS $4.78 This is the first item I bought. It is a nice led+laser keychain and I gave the other 3 to my family.
	LED Headlamp 8 LED $5.21 Where can you find such cheap Led Headlamp. I used it last when we went hiking and entered to unlighted cave. It gave very bright light. picture from the cave
	Mini Lightsabre LED Keychain $1.76 I ordered this gadget in order to put it in my bag, so when I’m going to trek and I’ll to look for stuff at night in my bag I won’t have to use the flash light.

There are more stuff that I ordered but write about them next time. So if you are going to buy something, first check this site and then decide were to buy it.

In case you didn't know, Facebook sometimes uses your profile picture in advertisement impressions shown to other Facebook users.

You can control the exposure of your picture from your settings, but by default Facebook is allowed to do that.

If you want to protect your picture from appearing in Facebook ads, this is what you have to do:

Click on Settings up at the top right corner (where you see the "log out" link).

Select Privacy - Manage.

Select News Feed and Wall.

Select the tab that reads Facebook Ads. There is a drop-down box - click it and select No One.

Even these days when the share of Internet Explorer is declining, there are sites that weren't built according standards, but were built, designed and tested specifically for Internet Explorer. I really hate those sites. If you are building a site don’t just limit your visitors to be IE users. Build it using the web standards and it will work for the modern browsers (IE 8, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera).

For now there is a workaround for those sites that work only in IE. If you use Firefox there is add-on called IE Tab. When you visit a site that works well only in IE, just click on add-on IE icon and Firefox will change the current tab to IE that is embedded in Firefox.

Firefox Add-ons - Flashblock

We are starting a series that covers Firefox add-ons. Firefox add-ons is one of the best features that come with firefox. You can browse through a vast collection of add-ons here, and start benefit more from your browser.

Today we will show you a must have add-on called flashblock. This add-on replace all the flash animations in the site with an empty white box and “play” icon inside. Only when you click on the play button the flash animation start to play. That way all the CPU-hungry flash advertisements are removed from the site, and the page loads much faster. When you click play then you see your desired flash animation. Another feature when you are tired on clicking play is the ability to add a site to a white list so each time you enter this specific site flashblock will be disabled and all the flash animations will work regularly.

Install flashblock and enjoy cleaner (ads-free) and faster internet browsing experience.

עד עתה כשהיינו רוצים להעביר פריט כל שהוא לתווית היה צורך בפעולה הצורכת מס’ קליקים היום לאחר שידרוג קטן של גוגל בגימייל הפעולה כל כך פשוט, להקיש על ה- :: ליד הפריט (סמן העכבר יהפוך לצורה של יד) ולגרור אותו לתווית הרצויה או להפך, להצמיד את התווית הרצויה אל הפריט.

Drag and drop
You can now drag messages into labels, just like you can with folders. This does the exact same thing as "Move to" -- it labels and archives in one step.

You can drag labels onto messages too. It's the same thing as using the "Label" button. To label or move many messages at once, first select the messages and then drag and drop the label.
It's also possible to drag labels into the "more" menu to hide them and vice versa. If you only want to move a couple labels around, I've found it quicker than going to Settings.
All of these changes also mean the end of Right-side Labels, an experimental Gmail Labs feature. This is the first Labs feature we're retiring. (The idea behind Labs was always that things could break or disappear at any time or they might work so well that they become regular features. More on that soon...) Now that labels aren't in their own little box and take up much less space, moving them around the screen didn't seem as important. We realize quite a few of you used and liked Right-side Labels, so if you feel strapped for left nav screen real estate without it, try turning on Right-side Chat in Labs instead.

I bought this pen tablet to my sister as a birthday present (she likes to draw). It was easy to install and it was so much fun using it to draw, and even for everyday usage as a mouse.

For those that need their first digital pen for drawing I recommend to buy this model. Its good and relatively cheap.

והגירסה שמועומדת להיות הגירסה שתימכר (Release Candidate) תפסיק לעבוד בראשון למרץ.

אז אפשר להזדרז ולהנות עוד עם גרסת RC או פשוט לקנות היום ב50% פחות באמזון לפני שזה יתחיל להיות יקר.

הרבה פעמים אני נשאל ע”י אנשים, איך אתה מספיק לקרוא את כל מה שפורסם היום בכל כך הרבה אתרים? (התשובה הראשונית שלי היא: “קסם”)

התשובה פשוטה: גוגל רידר (Google Reader)

זהו אחד מבין כל שירותים החינאמים של גוגל שאין בוא פרסומות שזה מקרה דיי נדיר אצלהם.

השירות דיי פשוט, למרות שאינו תומך עדין בשפה העברית.

קודם כל יש להתחבר לשירות ע”י חשבון גוגל פעיל, ניתן להגיע גם דרך תיבת הגימייל.

ולאחר מכן להוסיף כתובות אתרים שאנחנו רוצים להאזין להם בדרך הבאה:

כל אתר שמפרסם תוכן בדר”כ נותן תמיכה בעידכוני RSS, (בדר”כ תופיע התמונה שתראה שהאתר תומך בRSS ולחיצה עליה תשלח אותנו לכתובת הRSS) ברגע שיש לנו את את כתובת האינטרנט (URL) של ה-RSS מעתיקים אותה לגוגל רידר (Add a subscription)

כאשר נוספה לנו הכתובת שהקשנו לרשימת הכתובת שאנו רשומים אליהם.

כעת בכל פעם שהאתר שנרשמנו אליו יפרסם תוכן חדש (בדר”כ חדשות, מאמרים, ופוסטים של בלוגים) יופיע ליד שם האתר שמופיע ברשימה ספרה עם מספר הרשומות שלא נקראו עדין.

מה שנשאר הוא לפתוח כל בוקר את הגוגל רידר ולראות מה חדש בכל האתרים שמעניינים אותנו.

הרידר מאפשר לנו לבצע על כל פריט מספר אפשרויות:

לתייג את הפריט לנושא כל שהוא (כדי שנוכל למצוא אותו אח”כ).
לשלוח לחבר דרך הודעת דואר אלקטרוני.
לשתף עם עוד חברים שיש להם רידר (כולל לכתוב מה דעתנו על הפריט).

גוגל משיקה בימים אילו שירות חדש (כרגע רק בארה”ב), השירות יאפשר קבלת מספר טלפון שברגע שיתקשרו אליו יפנה את השיחה לכל מקום שנבחר ע”י הצבת פילטרים, תנאים ועוד. אודות השירות.

השאלה הנשאלת האם זה שירות שאנחנו צריכים?

כידוע לכל שירות חינאמי של גוגל יש מחיר (הצגת פרסומות בחיפושים, הצגת פרסומות ליד הודעות המייל שלנו) .

מחיר של שירות כזה אני מאמין יהיה שמירת השיחות שלנו והמרתו למלל, שזה יכול להיות נחמד לקבל SMS עם הפרטים של ההודעה קולית שהשאירו לך, אבל מנגד זה יכול להיות בכלל לא נחמד אם זה ישמש כראיה משפטית נגדנו.

איני יודע איך הציבור יקלוט את השירות. במיוחד באירופה שיש דגש רב על פרטיות, אבל הולך להיות מעניין.

TeraCopy - תוכנה להעתקת קבצים

שלום,
תמיד הייתי משתמש במנגון ההעתקה הרגיל של הwindows אבל ברגע שהייתי צריך להעתיק קובץ גדול או תקיה כבדה הייתי פותח תוכנה אחרת ומבצע את ההעתקה דרך שם.
עד שמצאתי תוכנה שנקראת Tera Copy שעושה בדיוק את הדבר הפשוט הזה העתקה של קבצים רק בצורה נוחה יותר ומהירה יותר.
אני ימנה את הדברים שמצאו חן בעיניי בתוכנה:

התקנת התוכנה פשוטה ונוחה, והשטח שהיא תופסת בדיסק הוא קטן ובלתי מורגש.
התוכנה מתלבשת על האופציות ההעתק והדבק, כלומר בשביל להעתיק קובץ אין צורך לפתוח אותה במיוחד , אלא ברגע שסימנת קובץ להעתקה ועשית לו הדבק במיקום כל שהוא התוכנה אוטומטית ונפתחת ומבצעת את העתקה.
התוכנה מראה את הסטטוס האמיתי של ההעתקה וגם את קצב ההעתקה (אם יש hard disk בעייתי אז רואים שהעתקה אליו או ממנו איטית יותר).
כאשר עושים העתק/עותק של אותו קובץ לאותה תקיה/מיקום שם הקובץ החדש הוא לא "COPY OF FILE" אלא שם הקובץ נשאר אותו שם רק נוסף לו מספר סידורי אחריו FILE1,FILE2...
ניתו להוסיף עוד ועוד קבצים להעתקה במהלך העתקת קובץ אחר , לאותו מיקום כמובן.

בקיצור תכונה מומלצת לכל מחשב, התוכנה מגיעה בשתי גירסאות : חינאמית , ובתשלום אך אני לא רואה צורך בכך הגירסה החינאמית מצויינת.

מאז השקת הטלפונים הסלולרים עם צגי המגע לא קיבלנו את תגובה מצד סוני-אריקסון.

כעת עפ”י דיווח סוכנות הידיעות רויטרס סוני-אריקסון עובדת על פיתוח מכשיר חדש שיתבסס על קונסולת המשחקים הניידת וגם יהיה טלפון סלולרי.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp is considering developing a cellphone-game gear hybrid in a bid to better compete with Apple Inc's highly popular iPod and iPhone, the Nikkei business daily said on Saturday.

The Japanese electronics and entertainment conglomerate launched its first Walkman three decades ago, dominating the portable music player market, but it has been running far behind the iPod and iPhone in recent years.

Sony plans to set up a project team as early as July to develop a new product that combines functions of its portable game player and Sony Ericsson's mobile phones, the Nikkei said.

Sony Ericsson is a cellphone joint venture between Sony and Sweden's Ericsson.

A growing number of game-makers including Capcom Co Ltd and Square Enix Holdings are now offering software for the iPod and iPhone to take advantage of the Apple products' popularity, posing a threat to Sony's PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Co Ltd's DS.

A Sony spokesman declined to comment on the report.

When you work long hours behind computer screen you feel that your eyes are getting tired. Adi found a great program that reminds you to take a break from the computer based on interval that you can define.

Just don’t forget to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 before (probably you already installed it in the past).

It’s an utility that helps avoiding eyes-related problems when working at a computer for several hours. Concentrating your eyesight on a computer screen can cause an eye strain. You can prevent this by taking regular breaks during the work and look at distant objects.

Eyes Relax is a tool that reminds you about taking those breaks. It a very flexible utility, which allows you to specify two independent (short and long) work periods, the length of the breaks, break types, notification sounds and many other settings.

Eyes Relax has also the parenting features. It can enter the password-protected Parent Mode in which the user is forced to take breaks (during the break the computer is locked). This is very useful since children often forget about the real world and play video games much too long.

What’s New in Firefox 3.5?

Soon Mozilla will release Firefox 3.5 and here is a list of the new features:

Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.
Better performance and stability with the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
The ability to provide Location Aware Browsing using web standards for geolocation.
Support for native JSON, and web worker threads.
Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
Support for new web technologies such as: HTML5 <video> and <audio> elements, downloadable fonts and other new CSS properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 offline data storage for applications, and SVG transforms.

“Private Browsing Mode” is something that all modern browsers already has.

The boost on performance is very good, and another reason to stay with Firefox (the other is the add-ons) and not to migrate to Chrome or Safari (don’t even think about Internet Explorer).

It will be interesting to see websites such as YouTube use the HTML 5 <video> tag instead of flash plug-in. YouTube already prepared a page featuring this technology http://www.youtube.com/html5.

It seems that the 3.5 release is not a major breathtaking features but mainly improvements to catch up with the other browsers.

Icy – Cydia Replacement for Jailbroken iPhone

If you have an iPhone and you performed Jailbreak you probably use Cydia for downloading additional apps that you cannot find in the official Apple appstore.

I feel that Cydia is too slow. Sometimes it takes ~2 minutes only to start Cydia. Luckily Ripdev team made a replacement for Cydia called Icy. The great thing about Icy is that it works on the same packaging system that Cydia use. So you’ll see the same sources and apps installed both in Icy and in Cydia.

What is Icy?

Icy is our take on the freeware package manager that uses APT repositories to install and remove packages available in another free iPhone installer application, Cydia. The goal was to create a fast, lightweight and more slick solution that is easy and cool to use. Icy is already at version 1.3, and we're working diligently on more improvements.

Microsoft Windows 7 – part 1 – installing

שלום,

אני אתחיל לכתוב סדרה של פוסטים על מערכת ההפעלה החדשה שעומדת לצאת מבית מייקרוסופט , אפרט את ההתרשמות שלי לרעה ולטובה בתור אחד שמשתמש במערכת הפעלה כמעט מרגע ראשון שיצאה לעולם.

אני מניח שלכל אחד יצא לשמוע על המערכת או לפחות את המילה “שבע” מתרוצצת באוויר (ואם לא כנראה שאתה עדין משתמש בוינדוס 98), מערכת הפעלה זאת באה על “כישלונה” של מערכת ההפעלה ויסטה , לא אפרט האם ויסטה טובה רעה או בינונית משום שהיא לא העניין.

ההתקנה:

לאחר הורדת קובץ ההתקנה מהאתר הרשמי של וינדוס 7 (שהיה תהליך לא קצר משקל התקנה 2.4 גיגה)

הרצתי את ההתקנה שרצה חלק בלי יותר מדיי שאלות מיותרת ולאחר בערך כ- 20 דקות יש לי מערכת חדשה מותקנת.

לאחר בדיקה קצרה גיליתי שכל הרכיבים החומרתיים מותקנים כבר ללא צורך בחיפוש אחר דרייברים באתרי היצרנים למיניהם.

הרושם הראשני היה וואו זה נראה טוב וזה הותקן טוב בוא נראה אם זה גם עובד טוב.
