Hello lovely readers...and people who just happen to stumble onto my blog because they googled "beer review".

Today is the day I am hanging up my blogger hat. It has been an amazing two years of finding myself through this world of blogging. I have tried many things and found a few niche's that are really fun for me! That is why I am going to continue to publish my beer reviews, fitness tips and overall awesomeness in a once a month newsletter!

Where I get way too excited about a workout...

GET EXCITED YA'LL!!

If you are wanting to lose a ton of weight, get toned or just need a change of pace from the gym you MUST WATCH THIS! It is a little under 10 minutes but it's worth the time to see people actually talk about their results.

As a busy mom of three I am SO PUMPED FOR THIS TO COME OUT!!!

Only 25 minutes a day...

that equals only 2% of your day! Seriously ya'll, I'm really excited. Can you tell?

Personal Update

Hey everyone! New things are happening in my life as of late and I wanted to share them here on my blog. As you know I love beer. Duh. So I obviously need to work out to combat the extra caloric intake from all those tasty brews. =)

But did I?

No.

So I made a choice to become a Beachbody Coach so I can keep myself accountable by keeping others accountable. It's a totally rational approach, I promise.

Peche Lambic and Homemade Honey Mustard

As the weather warms up I get more and more excited about summer food and beer. We start eating more salads, cous cous, and ice cream. {I know, that last one is not healthy, moderation right?} My friend Ashley had recommended an organic peach limbic for me to try but I couldn't find it at the store, so Lindemans Peche Lambic was what I bought.

Let's just make it known right now...it was GOOOOOD!

The fizzy, slightly peachy beer was the perfect compliment to the salad..."salad and beer?" you say...I know, but trust me, this works.

If you are looking for a great warm weather brew, look no further. Give any Peche Lambic a try, I'm sure you will love it.

Now for the salad, my husband is a huge fan of making his own salad dressing. The dressing we used on the salad shown is our Homemade Honey Mustard.

Homemade Honey Mustard

1 Tablespoon Organic Mayonnaise

1 Tablespoon Local Raw Honey

1 teaspoon Organic Dijon Mustard

Mix and pour on salad!

Anchor Steam Beer Review

I'll admit, the reason I tried Anchor Steam Beer in the first place was because of its history.
Anchor was first established in San Francisco during the gold rush. Because of the lack of ice they were forced to warm ferment the brew on roof tops. The steam would rise from the hot beer thus giving it the name.

This beer really has a complex style. I love the creaminess that is accompanied by an almost fizzy feeling from the carbonation. It does have a hoppiness to it, but not overpowering...I'm not a huge hop fan so this was just the right amount.

If you enjoy light beers but want to try something a bit more robust give Anchor a taste.

Friends and Farkel

So this post is LOOOONG over due. As you can tell by the Christmas tree in one of the photos. I kept staring at these pictures on my computer, a constant reminder of how little blogging I have been doing. Not that these photos are amazing, or that the post is life changing...no, neither. But that night I was able to spend quality time with two of my oldest and dearest friends Lerin and Lindsay. {minus one twin, Linze we missed you!}

I also learned how to play Farkel. Sorta. I honestly just drank a bunch of wine and threw dice until I was told to stop.

Wine, friends and Farkel. What more do you need? {Ok, don't answer that}

Mustang Brewing Company: Winter Lager {Beer Review}

Mustang Brewing Company has come out with an amazing Seasonal Selection. It's called Winter Lager and it's reminiscent of the classic English Winter Warmer.

Now typically when I take the first sip of a thick, malty beer I am immediately hit with a strong iron taste that dissipates as I drink, however, the Winter Lager was different. The malt and hops had a great balance and it was very smooth. The Black Strap Molasses gives it a hint of sweetness, and compliments the Chocolate barely perfectly.

True to it's predecessor, it "warmed" me right up and at 6% ABV it's not your typical wimpy Oklahoma beer.

If you live in the state of Oklahoma or a surrounding state, keep your eye out for Mustang Brewing Company. They are true to their slogan "Making the World a Better Place, One Beer at a Time."

A Fall Weekend

I've been drinking Dunkin' Donuts coffee for awhile, but the other day I tried something new. I ordered a regular coffee with pumpkin spice syrup and cream. O.M.G. It's better than Starbucks and CHEAPER!! Try it.

After 5 years of living in our home we finally planted some shrubs. It's so pretty!

We had our first garage sale...ever!

My best friend Brooke came and brought me a coffee. She is awesome.

I picked up a shift at the Y.

Brandon and I found a book that we MUST buy. It's our dream.

I hope your weekend was as fun and productive as mine. But geez I'm wiped out.

I hope to have another pumpkin beer review up this week. =) I need it after the weekend.

Almond Butter Oatmeal Cookies

The PERFECT cookies to make ice cream sandwiches with or to dunk in a glass of milk.

What you will need:

1 Cup Butter

2 Cups Brown Sugar

2 tsp. Vanilla

1 Cup Almond Butter {can sub Peanut Butter}

2 Eggs

1 1/4 Cups All Purpose Flour

2 tsp. Baking Soda

1/2 tsp. Salt

2 Cups Oats

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In large bowl cream together butter, sugar, vanilla and almond butter till smooth.

Beat in eggs one at a time.

Mix together dry ingredients in separate bowl.

Stir wet ingredients into wet ingredients, add oats.

Spoon onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-15 minutes

This yields about 3-4 dozen cookies. {like, a ton of cookies}

Pumpkin Beer Review Week 1: Shipyard Pumpkinhead

So, along with Autumn comes pumpkins and with pumpkins comes pumpkin BEER!

First up, Shipyard Pumpkinhead, coming in at 4.7% alcohol volume.

My first sip was full of cinnamon...and it was awesome. I hate it when I try a pumpkin beer and it lacks the quintessential cinnamon and nutmeg flavors of a good pumpkin spice cake. This one does not lack those flavors at all.

Pumpkinhead is very easy to drink, with it's low alcohol content and yummy spices. Try it with a piece of pumpkin pie or with more beer.

Pizza in Paseo

Sometimes pizza, a beer, and company of a good friend {who is not shown because she is 9 months pregnant and if I took a photo of her I may have been slapped} is all it takes to make a good day great.

The weather is changing here in Oklahoma and I am thrilled! Patio eating time at it's finest.

Triple Moine: Beer Review

When I {aka: when I made Brandon} pop the bottle of Triple Moine open and poured my first glass I was instantly excited because of the smell. It smelled sweet and citricy and full bodied.

The smell didn't lie. This blonde beer is a perfect balance of light and heavy. The flavors are very crisp with a hint of bitterness.

This beer is PERFECT for fall. And at just 7.3% alc. vol. it's not too potent. Triple Moine has this unique apple taste that would compliment a great steak, oooo, or pumpkin seeds!

Go buy a pumpkin and enjoy!!!

For my birthday I was not feeling especially great about my body. I haven't been running and it shows. I'm tired, I feel chubby...just all around yuck.

So when my amazing sister in law said I could raid her closet I took her up on the offer. I chose a cute polka dot dress and cardigan then paired it with my new yellow tights. I felt amazing!

Oh and did you notice I went back to ombre? Yup, I was ready for a change. This way I don't have to color my hair foreeeever.

Sweet Treat Fridays

With Holland starting school for the first time, I wanted to begin a tradition for the kids.

Every Friday we have a sweet treat after school. It helps me say no to other sweets during the week because I can just remind them that we get our treat on Friday!

Having a ritual like this is one of those things I really looked forward to doing as a mom.

Modelo {Beer Review}

Unless you live under a rock you know that this weekend is Labor Day. The "end" of summer if you will. This however doesn't mean that you have to cozy up to a brew that is for cooler weather, instead, let me introduce you to a beer that will be good for your wallet and your final summer celebration, Modelo Especial!

Our wonderful neighbors, Dennis and Gail, brought down Modelo last night as a little payment for watching there dogs while they were out of town {yes, I get paid in beer, are you surprised?}. I had never had this cerveza before, because frankly, it wasn't Corona!

First sip I was sold. This beer is everything a good Mexican beer should be. Light, refreshing, with that nice kick to it. Modelo is also very smooth and not overly filling.

Plus side, you sorta feel like a Columbian drug lord with the gold top and awesomely shaped bottle. {like Johnny Depp drug lord mmmk? I'm not weird.}

Foret Organic Saison {Beer Review}

I'm a sucker for an organic beer. And I'm also a sucker for anything that is fermented in its own bottle. Foret Organic Saison is both...so you know I had to have it.

This yeasty beer has some great fruity elements to it, but not overpowering. It also has a caramely taste that is replicated with it's caramel color.

A saison is a French style beer that was originally created in the winter to ferment in it's own bottle, then ready to drink in the summer. It's refreshing and you should totally try it. Especially if you like yeasty, crisp beers.

Hoegaarden {Beer Review)

Hoegaarden is one of my new favorite beers. Oh those Belgian's, they sure do know how to make beer.

It has this amazing balance of fruit and wheat and cream and spice. All the perfect things a good fall beer should have. Yes please!

At 4.9% alcohol volume this beer is light enough that you can just keep drinking and drinking and drinking. hehe

Tripel Karmeliet {Beer Review}

One of the many perks of having French friends {other than they are just plain amazing} is that they know a lot about beer...and wine and bread and crepes....yeah, they know a lot actually.

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing the many beers that the Batail's introduced us to. First up, Tripel Karmeliet.

This wheat beer is light in appearance, yet heavy in texture. {make sense?}

This brew has a very strong wheat flavor to me, however I was loving the white peach notes that I tasted towards the end of a sip. And make sure it's a sip! At 8.4% alcohol volume this beer will sneak up on you.

Gain cool chick points with this fact: Tripel Karmeliet is bottle fermented, that's what makes it extra fizzy!

Shiner Ruby Redbird {Beer Review}

Last night {yea, that's why this post is late} my friend Sarah came over with some beer she wanted me to try. And of course I obliged. She arrived with Ruby Redbird, a summer time beer from Shiner.

First taste you totally get grapefruit, but then after that subsides you taste a hint of ginger. I'm usually not a fan of these types of beers but this one for some reason hit the spot on a hot day. It's not bitter, just the right amount of sweet and tart.

Brandon on the other hand is not a fan. He doesn't care for grapefruit or fruit beers.

At 4.2% Alc. Vol. it's a good one to sit and enjoy with friends like Sarah.

In other news, BLOGHER is less than a week away and I'm SO excited. Our friend from France are still visiting so it's been a wonderful distraction from all things blogging. I am slowly preparing my suitcase and figuring out outfits. I am sure I will post about it. Also, my computer hates me. I couldn't edit any of my photos. Frustrations.

BlogHer is quickly approaching and this dress is a perfect idea for any of the evening events. I love it's simplicity in the front, with the wow factor in the back. I'm also in love with lace, so that helps. Pair it with some aviators and you have an edgy outfit perfect for any occasion.

In other news my internet is all wonky. So if I am slow in posting you know why. Brandon fixed {for the 8th time} my computer cord so at least I have a computer! {I'm trying to see the positive side in this, haha}

Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier {Beer Review}

Today's beer was actually shown to me by my mom! She typically drinks your average brews like Coors or Michelob Ultra Light. So when she told me she liked Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier {say that five times fast} I was a little shocked.

I figured that the taste would be ordinary since my moms pallet is not like mine for beer, but trust me, it's anything but that. As the worlds oldest brewery it adheres to the Purity Laws of 1516. That means that Weihenstephaner is only brewed with hops, barley, water and yeast.

It totally fascinates me that this beer, so complex in flavor, is only a few ingredients. The flavors that captured Brandon and I were clove and vanilla. It's a very creamy beer, in flavor, not in texture.

I really like this beer, and will be buying it regularly.

Mustang Brewing Company {Beer Review}

I feel like this is Oklahoma week around here. The beers I'm about to share with you are from a local brewery called Mustang Brewing Company. I first ran across their beers in a local store and then started following them on twitter. I then begged them to let me try their beer and they obliged. {No, I'm not below begging for beer.}

They gave me two of their brews to try, first was one of their staples, Washita Wheat. "A gold medal winner at the 2011 World Beer Championships and Silver Medal winner in 2010! Brewed with Oklahoma Red Wheat, American and European barley, and Cluster and German Hallertauer hops."

This beer has crispness that I liked and a hopiness that Brandon loved. This beer is great for avid beer drinkers who long for a clean, easy to drink, wheat beer.

Next up was Mustang '33, formerly known as Session '33. "This beer is brewed exclusively for Oklahoma in honor of the 1933 state legislature's decision to partially repeal prohibition by allowing the sale of beer containing 4.0% alcohol or less (3.2% ABW). "

I have to say that this one was my favorite. Even with it's low alcohol content I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of flavor. Most beers when taken to a 3.2%, end up tasting very watered down. {the downside to living in Oklahoma} So for my locals you need to try this beer out when you see it in the gas station! It is easy to drink and very refreshing.
