lately, i have been drawn to details...mostly in upholstery, pillow designs, and window treatments. things that take an ordinary piece to the next level. most of them are really simple: adding a contrast color for cording or as a banding on a solid upholstery piece, using a mini flange (i love it w/ ruffle pleat corners) on pillows or chair cushions, adding a stripe (or pattern) fabric banding to simple roman shades or down the leading edge of panels give an extra oomph, or simply using another fabric on the backs of chairs adds an element of surprise to any space. simple details like these make all the difference in the world!! try one next time your thinking of updating a piece!!!

it's spring break here and so i'm taking the kids to beaufort to visit my parents and to relax (my parent's screen porch is calling my name)!! hoping that the weather stays nice enough for us to go to the beach and not freeze.....we love looking for shark's teeth. i also plan on eating breakfast at lowcountry produce market (best ever and the interior design is to die for).

well hello weekend. it's so nice to see you.....
i've been having a moment with this song....apparently taylor has too b/c she ask me to play it over and over again.
i want to make this tonight b/c it looks oh so good....to eat of course, while we watch the last homeland of season 1...dying over this show. excited to still have season 2 to watch next!!
tomorrow, i'm putting on my sunday's best to go carolina cup...the last time i went i think i was on a frat bus...i'm thinking this time will be a little different (but you never know).

i think it's spring outside but it's freezing here!!! this weekend, i'll celebrating w/ my hubbie as he turns a year older tomorrow. and walker has his first soccer game in the AM...so far practice has been a lot of crying and not much kicking of the ball....should be quiet interesting....have a fabulous weekend!!

last night, warren and i started watching homeland. my mom and dad told me we would like it and it is good stuff!! we only watched two but i was on the edge of my seat the entire time (probably b/c i am a scary cat and that stuff freaks me out)! can't wait to watch more tonight!! i hope y'all had a wonderful weekend!! btw, brooke did a post on her favorite foods to cook and i made her salmon recipe...it was amazing!!!

lately, my eyes have been drawn to florals...kind of the granny chic vibe. i really want to add some to my house....my only problem is getting it pass the husband.....men and flowers don't mix well. i have my eyes on this wallpaper (maybe behind a bookshelf) and this one. and i am dying to get one of rifle paper's new iphone cases....and still holding out for a lulie wallace painting that would totally brighten my day!! when i was out shopping this weekend, we noticed a lot of floral in fashion as well...j crew was definitely rocking it!!

i stepped out today for the first time since Sat. i kind of felt like the girl up top....big smile on my face, wind blowing in my hair, sun gleaming down...see when you've been cooped up for 14 days w/ everyone in your family having the flu, the first day out feels like heaven. so what did i do.... after my meeting, i headed straight to target! and went right to the beauty aisle with my phone in hand, on pinterest, searching for natalie's recommendations for "cheap buy's" (i don't know why i think that is so fun...but i do love a bargain :) i guess everyone else does too b/c half the stuff was bought out!! it didn't matter though b/c it was great just getting out again...cheers to being almost well!!!!

the winter blues has totally taken over our household...everyone in our family has gotten the flu over the last 10 days....i thought i was safe until i went to bed last night and then i knew that i had succumb to it as well. but instead of moping about how miserable it has been, here are a few things that have shed some light our direction:

netflix has two good documentaries that you must watch: first position & the queen of versailles

i may or may not have eaten half of this cake by myself (what would you do in a house full of sick people??)

and i just found this song this AM and i can't stop playing it....

alright i'm off to go grab my blanket and a box of tissues....see you on the flip side.

i am so sorry for being away for so long!! my entire family got taken down with the sick bug last week and we were just worthless!! needless to say, we are feeling much better and i'm thankful to finally be able to eat and drink a cup of tea again!! hope your monday is starting off right!! and for everyone in the northeast, i hope the snow has let up and starting melting...think of y'all!!

my week's been stressful and i'm ready to CHILL OUT..... this seems quite fitting right now :)

tonight, we are hanging out w/ good friends and i think this guy would be fun to take over to their house...i love a good cheese plate!!

another thing i want to do this weekend is go buy cheap beauty products....i have pinned all of these "great lipsticks" and everytime i'm in target or a drug store, i cannot find them.....any pointers? anyone found these?

while i'm buying cheap beauty products, i think i need to make my bathroom cabinet look like this...seems simple enough. if i could only keep it like this!

and i wish i could do my hair like this...they call it an ombre bun...but that's just fancy for "letting your roots grow out", right (mission accomplished here)!!

as for the rest of the weekend, i plan on haning out w/ my fam....b/c i love those people.

i need a calming factor this monday morning....avett brothers, coffee, and a pale blush color palette is doing a decent job.

good morning!! happy MLK day! i hope everyone is able to enjoy this holiday at home!! if you're luck enough to have it off, run don't walk, and go and see silver linings playbook. it is seriously the best movie i have seen in a long time!! maybe it was b/c we NEVER get to go to the movies and so when we do it's a treat or maybe it was b/c we got to drink a bottle of wine in the movie theater we went to.....either way, it's a great flick (one worth paying a babysitter for)!! happy monday!!

i'm so sorry i have been absent lately. it seems life has been going a mile a minute and leaving little time for me in between!! i hope y'all are having a fabulous start to 2013! here's some things that are going on current in my neck of the woods.....
my house on Sullivan's Island is almost complete and the clients moved in over Christmas break....

how cute is this doggie??!!

btw, i am obsessed w/ the lews hardware that we used in jack and jill bathroom....she didn't disappoint!! so go buy some!!

i got a new worm pillow made for my bedroom...my husband says i have a pillow problem....he might be right.

for christmas warren surprised me w/ a coffee table that i have been coveting forever...the problem was it belonged to one of my friends and she had it custom made...luckily she was ready to get rid of her :)

this weather has been amazing so the kids and i have been spending lots of time outside....Sat we headed to the zoo. the flamingos are always a favorite of mine...their color is just amazing.

well hello there.....it's been awhile. i needed a little break!! i am so thankful for the holidays. it was the best 2 weeks ever and luckily my husband had it off so we just enjoyed being a family....

we made lots of cookies...apparently walker was not a fan of the reindeer headband i thought was festive....

we saw christmas lights....

we attempted christmas crafts.....

warren and taylor fished from our front porch....and caught some bushes.

we played lots w/ our christmas presents (and cleaned out lots of old toys...thank goodness for goodwill!!!)

we even got in on the action and played w/ the kids toys once they were asleep....might say 6 and up but this game rocks...especially w/ some vino :)

for new years the kids went and stayed w/ my parents and my dad surprised them with some little extras....a two hole golf course for walker b/c he got his first set of clubs for xmas....

and a mini look alike bed for tay's new american girl.....

warren and i headed down to the beach to spend New Years with great friends....

and last but not least, i did manage to squeeze in a little charleston work....

kitchen's almost finished.....

and b/c charleston is 2 hrs away, we do a lot of texting photos back and forth....this one cracks me up...

and then when the client sent this, i begged for him to bend those library lights more!!! it was killing me!

but then i got happy when he sent me the front door :)

surely you aren't still hanging around (sorry that was so long)....that's the end of this official phone dump.....bring it 2013....we're ready :)
