pregnancy update - weeks 34/35.

How far along?: This week I'm 35 weeks so I thought I'd recap both 34 and 35 weeks.

Baby is the size of:
34 weeks - Butternut squash, cantaloupe melon - 17.2-18.7 inches and 4.2-5.8 lbs.
35 weeks - Coconut, honeydew melon - 4.2 - 4.8 lbs and 17.2-18.7 inches

What I'm wearing:

Dress: Forever 21 / Necklace: Forever 21 / Sandals: Call It Spring

Symptoms: Unfortunately, this week and last I've been bombarded with intense low back pain. It's so, so uncomfortable especially when I've been in one position for awhile. It's making being at work extremely difficult. I've been trying to change positions frequently but even that doesn't alleviate it completely. By far, this has been the worst pregnancy symptom to try and overcome.

I've also had some sciatica in my left leg - which usually affects me most in the evening. Another weird thing that I've had this past week is a really painful right foot. I'm guessing it's from swelling (although I don't see huge amounts of swelling in my feet) but the pain runs over the top of my foot sort of wear it bends when you walk.

And of course of just had the usual uncomfortable feelings that go along with pregnancy- a bit of heartburn/indigestion, lots and lots of trips to the bathroom, braxton hicks contractions, third trimester tiredness, a fullness feeling that only comes with being pregnant, some rib pain - and really just aches and pains in general.

Sleep: Honestly, my sleep has not been great for the last month probably. Between having to pee and just being super, SUPER uncomfortable my sleep has not been very restful. I seem to just be waking up constantly.

Best moment this week: I got our hospital bags all packed and ready to go and did the last few things that we needed to do at home so we're totally ready for him to arrive whenever!

Worst moment this week: I can't think of a specific moment but probably just being uncomfortable (especially with the low back and foot pain) - I hate complaining but it's pretty tiring being in pain all the time.

Miss anything?: Feeling comfortable and sleeping on my tummy (and back for that matter)

Movement: Yes! But movements now are like big rolls and jabs (that almost hurts). I constantly see my tummy moving and looking lopsided.

Have you started to show?: I think it's safe to say (especially from these photos) that I look like I'm ready to go at any moment!

Wedding rings on or off?: On! Oddly, however, I have not been wanting to wear any of my watches (and I'm a watch girl). In fact, I haven't been loving necklaces against my skin either. I guess with the heat and just being uncomfortable I want as little as possible touching me!

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy mostly but I've also started feeling a bit anxious and scared for the actual labour/delivery part. I don't do well with the unknown so not knowing what I have ahead of me is freaking me out!

Looking forward to: My baby shower! My girlfriend is throwing me one and it's a spa theme - she's even having a spa come to her house! How fun is that!

pregnancy update - week 32.

OMG. How am already 32 weeks along?!? And how have I not posted an update since week 26 - I've actually had a couple of people asking how I was doing so I thought it was about time to provide another update.

How far along?: 8 months, 32 weeks - however you want to say it, that's FAR along. Only 8 weeks until we meet our little man - I seriously can't believe it!

Baby is the size of: Squash, as long as a stalk of kale - 2.5 - 3.8 lbs and 15.2 to 16.7 inches long

Maternity Clothes?: Yup - everything that I've been wearing lately has been maternity (apart from cardigans, jean jackets, etc). We've had a ridiculously warm June so I've been sporting all of my Summer shorts and dresses a littler earlier than I had anticipated.

Symptoms: Lots of back pain, feet are a bit swollen, needing to pee all. the. time.

Sleep: My sleep has definitely taken a hit in the last couple of weeks - between feeling baby move, having to pee, the constant back ache and just generally being uncomfortable, my sleep has definitely not been the most restorative. Just getting me ready for when he's here, I guess!

Best moment this week: Realizing that those super low little jabs were actually hiccups - the cutest thing ever!

Worst moment this week: Can't think of a specific moment but probably just the general uncomfortableness that goes alone with being 32 weeks...and the lack of restful sleep.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Everyone knows!

Miss anything?: Being able to sleep on my tummy or back and just generally being able to move around easier.

Movement: Oh yes - he's definitely an active little guy. The movements have gone more from swift jabs and kicks to full body movements - where I think he's actually rolling around in there. This past week I also experienced him hiccup for the first time. Actually, I had felt those "movements" before but I didn't realize what it was until I read about it - no mistaking it now though.

Food cravings: Strawberries, plums, cherries, smoothies, banana bread, Fibre One Bars, chocolate, water - I have found myself to be so thirsty lately.

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Bananas - the thought of eating bananas seriously grosses me out but when I made banana bread I couldn't get enough - go figure!

Have you started to show? lol - at 8 weeks, yes I definitely look pregnant.

Gender: Baby Boy!

Belly button in or out?: Still in but super shallow

Stretch marks?: Happy to report, still none!

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy, with a few emotional ups and downs thrown in (just to keep my husband on his toes ;))

Looking forward to: Our babymoon to Whistler this weekend (actually as this post is being published, we're on our way up there). We're going to spend 3 days relaxing by the pool, eating too much, wandering the village, pure relaxation and enjoying each other's company alone one last time!

pregnancy update - week 26.

How far along?: 26 weeks (actually 27 weeks along as I do these a week behind)

Baby is the size of: Head of lettuce, length of a green onion

Maternity Clothes?: Yup! I've moved all of my non-maternity clothing to the back of my closet now. I have to say, it's been quite nice to just be working with a smaller amount of clothing. The choices are way easier in the morning - lol!

Symptoms: Back pain, some leg cramps, general comfortableness, general aches and pains. I'm also finding it increasingly more difficult to bend down to put my shoes on, get up from the couch and I, unfortunately, think I'm starting the pregnancy "waddle". I also have had a little bit of right hip pain too.

Sleep: If I'm being honest, it hasn't been the greatest this week sleep-wise. I have been extremely uncomfortable in the night and am having a hard time sleeping. Baby boy also seems to think it's party time in the middle of the night too!

Best moment(s) this week:

1) Going to our 26 week doctors appointment and finding out that I'm progressing well and my results came back negative for gestational diabetes (yay!). It also never gets old hearing the little babes heartbeat!

2) Starting our prenatal classes. It was great being in a room of couples entering the very same stage that we're starting. I'm really looking forward to the next five weeks of classes.

Worst moment this week: Probably just being uncomfortable at night.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Everybody knows!

Miss anything?: Sleeping on my tummy - I'm just so darn uncomfortable at night.

Movement: OMG - I feel movement all the time! And especially in the evening and middle of the night. One night I literally was awake off and on all night because he was wiggling, kicking and squirming all night. Then I thought for sure he'd settle down during the day (since he'd been up all night - lol!) but, nope, he just continued his party all day. I also tend to feel him at work when I'm sitting still.

Food cravings: Ice cream, bananas, bagels with cream cheese. I don't seem to have those "gotta have that now" pregnancy cravings though.

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Nope - not this week.

Have you started to show? Haha - yes. No denying it now.

Gender: Boy!

Belly button in or out?: In but super shallow

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy but a bit emotional.

Looking forward to: Getting to see him again as we are having another ultrasound this week. I'm measuring a little big so they just want to be sure my dates are correct.

Not sure why, but I've been loving navy lately. Maybe it has to do with my new Kate Spade bag I got for my birthday, but whatever the reason, I've been loving me some navy.

I'm so thankful that the warm weather has finally hit us - I'm hoping that being pregnant and all I won't be too bothered by the heat because that would be a shame to miss out on summer just because you're too uncomfortably warm all the time. C'est la vie, I guess!

pregnancy update - week 25.

How far along?: 25 weeks (I'm actually 26 weeks but I do these a week behind)

Baby is the size of: Cauliflower or rutabaga

Maternity Clothes?: Yup! Exclusively, apart from jackets and cardigans

Symptoms: Oh man - this week was the week my feet decided to swell up. Honestly, I thought my feet would be the last thing to get big and that my Springy flats and sandals would be the perfect thing even if they did get a bit swollen but I'm hear to tell you that not all sandals work with swollen feet and ankles. I had a couple of days this week where my sandals looked as if I had poured myself into them - pretty! :( I can't imagine what the impending hotter weather and bigger belly will do to my poor feet (and my shoe collection!). I also had lots of dizziness and lightheadedness (see my worst moment this week).

Sleep: Pretty good still! Apart from needing to pee (only once per night though)

Best moment this week: Definitely Mother's Day - not only did my husband spoil me but my stepson made me the sweetest gift at school that I will cherish forever.

Worst moment this week: I had a fainting spell on my commute to work one day this week. Seriously, it was horrendously awful. I don't know how I made it to the train bathroom without actually fainting but, let me tell you, everything was going black! I think it was low blood pressure but I'm happy to be seeing my doctor next week to rule out anything more serious.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yup!

Miss anything?: Sleeping on my tummy and just the feeling of being comfortable.

Movement: Yup - constantly! The funniest movement moment this week happened during a work meeting. I was sitting in a very serious meeting when all of a sudden baby boy started kicking and punching and my whole belly was moving - lol!

Food cravings: Peanut butter and banana toast, DQ Blizzards, grapefruits, Granny Smith apples

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Nothing specifically. But I definitely have felt a bit more quesy this week. Especially on the train - almost a bit like motion sickness.

Have you started to show? haha - yes, it's obvious now!

Gender: Boy!

Belly button in or out?: In - but very shallow

Wedding rings on or off?: On! I'm hoping my hands don't swell up like my feet have.

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy and a bit emotional at times - it was a hard week for my little body and there were a number of moments where I felt completely and totally overwhelmed. But nothing that a good cry, supportive husband and a DQ Blizzard can't fix though!

Looking forward to: My 26 week doctor's appointment next week.

There's an unspoken truth to pregnancy that nobody hears about until you're living it. Pregnancy is definitely a miracle and the changes that your body goes through are incredible. And while I'm loving being pregnant those changes that happen to your body are no joke. Each day tends to bring a new symptom and it's been simply incredible getting to watch my body transform. Some days, I feel great! And some days, well, I feel not so great! But I wouldn't change any symptom, challenge, unspoken truth because it's giving me the biggest miracle yet and I couldn't be more excited.

But while all that excitement is happening, I've also felt a sense of longing for my old body back - how I wish I had cherished my body more last Summer - if I had only known that that Summer would be the last Summer I'd have that body, well, I would have enjoyed wearing all those cute non-maternity clothes more, I would have had more fun with styles and trends and not been so uncomfortable in a bathing suit. And while I know I won't be pregnant forever, it's inevitable that some things about your body change after pregnancy forever.

They have to.

And I get it.

But it doesn't make it any easier to let go. Right now, I'm sharing my body and I will be for awhile and I'm MORE than happy with that but, sometimes, it's hard! I just keep telling myself to enjoy this time - it'll be gone before I know it and our little boy will be with us and I'll no longer be pregnant. And while, I'm excited to meet him, I also just want to enjoy every part of my pregnancy - even the hard, annoying, uncomfortable parts. Because, that's just it, all those hard, annoying, uncomfortable parts are part of pregnancy - and I want to experience pregnancy to it's fullest....and not just wish it away.

And while I admit that pregnancy is hard, I also wake up each morning to little kicks and punches. And just in that moment when I feel the uncomfortableness of pregnancy, I feel hims kick, or see my tummy move from the outside or I place my hand on my tummy and feel his tiny little arm or leg punch my hand and it's as if he's letting me know it's all going to be worth it.

And in that moment, there's no where else I'd rather be.

No other body I'd rather be in.

Pregnancy, it really is an incredible thing.

pregnancy update - week 24.

Well, it's been a couple of week since my last update and I can't believe how fast time is going by. It's hard for me to believe that I'm actually 24 weeks along (well, now 25). Here's what's been happening the past two weeks...

How far along?: 24 weeks (16 weeks to go!)
(I'm actually 25 weeks today as I do these updates a week behind)

Baby is the size of: Cantaloupe

Maternity Clothes?: Yup! I had to do another round of maternity shopping this past weekend as I was finding I didn't have enough for work...and I desperately needed a new pair of black pants. Thankfully, I found a ton of items for Spring and Summer and some great deals at Thyme Maternity.

Symptoms: Movement, movement and more movement, some back aches, shallower belly button, some weird pains every now and again when I go to stand up and a pain when I walk sometimes (like a stitch you get from running - and always on the right side)

Sleep: Sleeping has been really good this week! Other than a few very vivid dreams, I can't complain. And Ironically enough, I'm more comfortable now then I was earlier on in my pregnancy. I'm wondering if it's because I can no longer roll onto my stomach. When I was smaller, I would roll over in my sleep and wake up uncomfortable. Now, I simply can't roll onto my tummy. I haven't been using a pillow in between my legs now for a few weeks,

Best moment this week: We've had a number of happy/exciting moments in the last couple of weeks!

1) Realizing that 24 weeks = 6 months! Six months! To me, that seems far along and I couldn't believe how quickly time has gone by. Plus, this week marks the week that baby could be delivered at our hospital if I happened to go into labour (knock on wood that I don't though)

2) Going crib shopping with my mom. We found a couple of cribs that we really like. Now husband and I just need to pick out which one we like best.

3) My husband painted the nursery this week. A very lovely light grey color - and we're adding white stripes to one wall.

4) We also got the baby's crib bedding - my mom actually got it from Target and we absolutely love it! If you couldn't guess, our accent color is going to be yellow.

Highlight from week 22: 22 week doctor's appointment - hearing his little heartbeat never gets old. He's such an active little guy. Just like my ultrasound the doctor had a hard time finding and keeping his little heartbeat on the doppler long enough to count his heartbeat. They ended up basically having to chase him around my tummy to get it. And speaking of moving, this week was the first week we actually saw my belly moving from the outside - what an incredible thing to see!

Worst moment this week: We've also had a couple of stressful moments this week (but nothing to do with the baby). We are getting new flooring installed in our house and while this is very exciting everything has had to be moved and right now we're living in chaos. Plus, my stepson is sick with the flu - why do kids seems to get sick at the most inopportune times!

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yup - everybody knows now!

Miss anything?: Maybe a glass of wine every now and again. Oh and sleeping on my tummy.

Movement: Oh yeah. Tons - morning, noon and night but mostly when I'm sitting. And he's kicking super low this week too.

Food cravings: Subway. Still.

Anything make you queasy or sick?: The smell of raw meats, cooking chicken

Have you started to show?: Lol - definitely! I now have a number of people each week ask me how far along I am or when I'm due. Plus, did any other pregnant ladies notice people looking more at them when you were out in public. I seem to be a magnet for wandering eyes!

Gender: Boy!

Belly button in or out?: In still but it's getting shallower by the day.

Wedding rings on or off?: On.

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy with a few moments of stress and worry.

Looking forward to: Getting our house back in order after the flooring is finished, getting the stripes painted and buying the crib :)

We had a pretty nice week celebrating birthdays!

Onto week 21 in review....

How far along?: 21 weeks (I do these a week behind so I'm actually 22 weeks today)

Baby is the size of: Pomegranate, or the length of a carrot

Maternity Clothes?: Oh yes! Most things I wear are maternity now - apart from cardigans and jackets.

Symptoms: Low back pain, tailbone pain one day (I'm wondering if he was close to my tailbone or something), peeing often

Sleep: Ugh. My sleep has not been the best this week. I've had a cough (thanks to my husband) so I've been coughing around the clock at night. So with the cough, having to pee and baby kicking I've had some very restless nights.

Best moment this week: Seeing my hand move when it was rested on my belly, thanks to his little movements. In the evenings, I find myself watching my belly more than watching the t.v. - lol!

Worst moment this week: It's been a pretty good week!

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yup! Everyone should know now :)

Miss anything?: Not having to pee so regularly - The game of seeing if I can hit every bathroom while we're out, is getting kinda old.

Movement: Oh my gosh - so, so, SO much movement! I think we have an active little guy on our hands! Most days I feel him kick/move off and on all day. And some moments, he's more active than others. But any tiny movement makes me feel the most incredible feeling - it's hard to explain, really.

Food cravings: Chocolate, chocolate ice cream, granny smith apples, Subway (still)

Anything make you queasy or sick?: The smell of ripe strawberries - I had a gagging moment when I opened up a package of them the other night.

Have you started to show? Oh yeah. No mistaking it now!

Baby is a: Boy!

Belly button in or out?: Still in - but definitely getting more shallow. The belly button transformation has been incredible in and of itself - lol

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy!

Looking forward to: 22 week appointment next week.

If you've been following my blog lately, you'll know that it's been overturned with all things baby/pregnancy related. And, frankly, that's how my life's been too - and I wouldn't want it any other way. Everything and anything baby is a perfectly lovely topic in my books!

Anyway, on this day, my birthday, the day I turn 28. The day 28 years ago my own mama gave me life, I want to share some exciting news....

We could not be more thrilled with this news and cannot wait to meet our little man!

So on this special day of mine, I want to say thank you to the universe. Thank you for this little life of mine. I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and I could not begin to feel more blessed with the life God has given me - for my husband, my stepson, our families and this new little boy in my tummy - life couldn't get much better.

All of my birthday wishes have come true.

pregnancy update - week 20.

We're officially half way there! I can't believe how quickly time has gone by and, quite honestly, I'm a little nervous as to how fast the next half is gonna go. While I'm super excited to meet our little one, we still have so much to do!

How far along?: 20 weeks (I do these one week behind so I'm actually 21 weeks today)

Baby is the size of: Length of a banana

Maternity Clothes?: Yup! Everything I'm wearing is pretty much maternity except for cardigan, jackets, etc...

Symptoms: Some back discomfort, and just random pains here and there - same "stitch" pain in my lower tummy especially after I've walked for a long period of time.

Sleep: Pretty good - apart from the very vivid dreams, a bit of tossing and turning and some back pain.

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby at our 20 week ultrasound and finding out the gender! More on that next week!

Worst moment this week: Can't really think of a bad moment this week - it was a pretty darn good week!

Have you told family and friends yet?: Close friends and family know - we're making our announcement on Facebook next week. My grandparents were in town for Easter so it was fun to share in their excitement, show them my bump and progress so far!

Miss anything?: A glass of white wine every now and again would be nice.

Movement: Oh yeah - baby has days of being super active (like off and on all day) to days where I only feel movement a couple of times. At my ultrasound it took a good hour to get all the shots they needed as baby was moving like crazy. They had me up and down walking around, changing positions just to try and get the baby to move to the right positions. I think we have one active baby on our hands!

Food cravings: Still chocolate ice cream with strawberries, granny smith apples, Subway. I've also been loving Raisin Bran and oatmeal.

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Pretty well the same as last week.

Have you started to show?: Oh yeah - I've had two strangers ask me when I'm do this week so I think it's safe to say that I officially look pregnant.

Gender prediction: No more predictions - since we already know! Again, more on that next week!

Belly button in or out?: In.

Wedding rings on or off?: On!

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy!

Looking forward to: My husband's birthday, my birthday (all next week!)

Pregnancy update - week 19.

How far along?: 19 weeks - I do these a week behind so as you read this, I'm actually 20 weeks - which means I'm officially half way there!

Baby is the size of: Mango or heirloom tomato

Maternity Clothes?: Oh yeah! I've been loving my new maternity wardrobe I got last week!

Symptoms: Some back pain, pelvic pain and a couple of days after work I noticed my feet were a little swollen. Lots of odd pains in my lower tummy - feeling sort of like a stitch you get from running. I also can get bad heartburn/indigestion - especially when I eat citrus foods

Sleep: Some crazy, vivid dreams and because of those I haven't been having the most restful of sleeps.

Worst moment this week: I had a scary couple of days in the middle of the week. I woke up in the middle of the night to quite severe pains in my lower abdomen. It bothered me most of the night and was still there in the morning. I went to work as normal but was extremely uncomfortable and the pain only got progressively worse as the morning wore on - I'm talking quite severe/extreme pain. When your pregnant, you can't help but fear the worst - immediately. Anyway, long story short after a trip to my maternity clinic and then my GP's office I was put on antibiotics for a bladder and/or kidney infection. I felt pretty rough for a good 4 days - as the pain only got progressively worse in my back before I started to feel better. Thankfully I'm back to normal now and am feeling great! I really hope I don't experience another scary incident as it was no fun worrying so heavily about the baby's safety - in saying that though, I guess as a parent you constantly have a worries so I guess those worries are only beginning!

Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's heartbeat after some scary severe abdominal pain.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yes - close family and friends

Miss anything?: Not much I can think of - I'm mostly craving what I can actually eat. Except for maybe citrus foods. I'm trying to stay away from those due to the heartburn/indigestion that comes with it. I love a good 7Up or lemon water!

Movement: Not much yet - but every now and again I'll feel a little flutter.

Food cravings: Still chocolate ice cream and strawberries, granny smith apples, Subway, Ruffles all dressed chips, cranberry juice

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Still the thought of my husband's stew and butter chicken

Have you started to show? Definitely!

Gender prediction: Still a girl!

Belly button in or out?: In.

Wedding rings on or off?: On.

Happy or moody most of the time?: With my infection (and worrying about the baby) my emotions were a bit on a roller coaster this week. But I definitely had some good happy moments as well!

Looking forward to: Our 20 week ultrasound next week, finding out the gender and our party with our families to reveal the gender - so fun!

pregnancy update - week 18.

How far along?: 18 weeks (I do these a week behind so I'm actually 19 weeks)

Baby is the size of: Sweet potato or bell pepper. Sometimes these fruit/veggie references don't make sense to me. I mean, a sweet potato can really vary in size!

Maternity Clothes?: Yes! Last week I spent the majority of the week trying to fit into my regular clothes for work so on Saturday I went shopping with my mom and sister and found some great maternity things for work, along with some cardigans and maternity tees. So now I should be good to go for awhile. My mom's best advice so far - stop trying to fit into your regular clothes and embrace the maternity clothes! I think I don't have a choice but to heed her advice - lol

Symptoms: Feeling pretty normal this week - apart from a bit of back pain and pelvic pain.

Sleep: Weird, very vivid dreams but other than sleeping okay and pretty comfortable.

Best moment this week: Feeling baby kick "officially" for the first time. I thought I had been feeling the baby for awhile but I was sort of "iffy" about whether or not it was in fact baby. Well, Sunday there was not mistaking it! Those little flutters were definitely baby!

Worst moment this week: Coming down with a bad case of pink eye - of all things! My sister-in-law told me that she had it as well when she was pregnant (twice actually) so that definitely made me feel better.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Close family and friends

Miss anything?: Glass of wine here or there. But thankfully the majority of what I've been craving has been things I can in fact eat.

Movement: Yes! I definitely have felt the baby move. It's always in the evening and some nights it's more active than others. Sunday, was a particularly active night! It's such an incredible feeling!

Food cravings: Chocolate ice cream and strawberries, Subway,

Anything make you queasy or sick?: A few certain foods that really made me nauseous during my first trimester but not very many.

Have you started to show? Oh yeah. No way of really hiding it anymore. I love it :)

Gender prediction: Everyone still thinks it's a girl

Belly button in or out?: In

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy!

Looking forward to: Finding out the baby's gender on April 7 and announcing it to our families on April 11!

pregnancy update - week 17.

Oops....missed week 16! Oh well - not many new symptoms to report that week anyway. Onto week 17...

How far along?: 17 weeks (I do these a week behind so I'm actually 18 weeks)

Baby is the size of: Onion. My step-son always asks what size the baby is and when I said an onion he said - an onion cut in half or a whole onion. When I told him a WHOLE onion he seemed shocked. I guess he thinks an onion is really big - lol

Maternity Clothes?: Yes! Been loving my maternity leggings, tighter tops with cardigans - I find these outfits to be the most comfy and flattering. Also wore some maternity jeans this week and loved them as well.

Symptoms: Itchy tummy, vivid dreams, hungry - all. the. time.

Sleep: Sleeping okay - most comfortable on my side with a pillow between my legs. I've been having really weird, vivid dreams lately that leave me not with the most rested of sleeps but it could be a lot worse.

Best moment this week: Getting a diaper bag - and a Kate Spade one at that! Love, love, love it!

Worst moment this week: nothing to report this week - it was a pretty good week all around.

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yes - well, close family and friends.

Miss anything?: Every now and again I would love to have a glass of white wine, sleeping on my tummy and maybe a turkey breast Subway sandwich.

Movement: It's hard to know but I keep feeling this same feeling in the evening (not every evening though) and I'm wondering if it's the baby. It also could just be gas - lol

Food cravings: fruit, fruit and more fruit, peanut butter and banana toast, strawberries with chocolate ice cream

Anything make you queasy or sick?: Nothing specific - I had a quesy feeling day on Saturday where not much appealed to me. Sort of felt like the first trimester again.

Have you started to show? Yes!

Gender prediction: My husband still thinks it's a girl as do most of our family. I still have no idea!

Belly button in or out?: In

Wedding rings on or off?: On!

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy!

Looking forward to: next week's 18 week doctor's appt. Can't wait to hear it's little heartbeat again!

pregnancy update - week 15.

How far along?: 15 weeks (I do these a week behind so I'm actually 16 weeks today)

Baby is the size of: Naval orange and/or an apple

Maternity Clothes?: Yes. Still can get away with some non-maternity dresses and tops for work but I've learned to love things that have lots of stretch in them.

Symptoms: Acid reflux after eating certain foods, frequent pee breaks and my tummy has been itchy. I've also been stuffed up this week. I'm not sure if it's a cold or pregnancy related but I'm guessing the latter as I have no other cold symptoms.

Sleep: Still using a pillow to rest up a against and since I've been using the pillow all the time I've been sleeping much better

Best moment this week: Not really a specific moment but just the feeling of actually looking pregnant. I don't just feel bloated or "chubby" anymore but actually pregnant.

Worst moment this week: Intense acid reflux - blah!

Have you told family and friends yet?: Yes!

Miss anything?: Sleeping on my tummy.

Movement: not yet (or not that I'm aware of anyway)

Food cravings: grapefruits, pineapple, bananas, peanut butter toast with banana, fruit roll ups

Anything make you queasy or sick?: The thought of eating stir fry or certain soups grosses me out. I also seem to be hungry all. the. time.

Have you started to show? Yes! I'm noticing that I no longer just have a little bump in my low tummy it's now sort of my whole tummy that 's a bump. I can't get over how hard it feels - lol

Gender prediction: Everyone seems to still think it's a girl.

Belly button in or out?: In

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Happy but a little emotional here and there.

Looking forward to: Hitting the 20 week mark! We also get to find out the baby's gender during that week so we're super, SUPER excited for that!

pregnancy update - week 14.

Now that my energy is picking up, I am so excited to be starting my weekly pregnancy update series! I'm not exactly sure how to run this but I think it'll probably work best to summarize the last week (so do these one week behind).

I am starting with week 14 and will update every Friday since that is when I switch over to the next week. So technically, today, I am 15 weeks pregnant, but this post is a summary of week 14.

I will also try and do a bump photo(s) as I think it will be fun to document the progress of my growing bump

How far along?: 14 weeks

Baby is the size of: Lemon

Maternity Clothes?: Yes - I've been wearing maternity pants for awhile and I just started buying a few maternity tops. I can still get away with some of my regular tops. And I'm sure this will be the case for a while but I have been surprised at how many of my tops are not fitting. Not only in the tummy area but also in the bust area. I guess they do fit per say but they are just extremely uncomfortable. And if you've ever been pregnant you know how much comfort is key.

Symptoms: headaches, a bit of nausea, dizziness (biggest issue this week)

Sleep: Sleep has been okay. I've been finding that I am most comfortable sleeping on my side with a pillow between my legs. I've also been noticing that I've been waking up a few times a night just due to discomfort - especially back pain discomfort.

Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's heart beat for the first time. We had an utlrasound done back at 8 weeks but the baby was too small to actually hear the heartbeat. Like the ultrasound and seeing the baby for the first time, hearing it's little heartbeat for the first time confirmed there is really is a baby in there - what a special moment it was!

Worst moment this week: Dizziness episode when I was out shopping - I think I came very close to fainting. What a terrible feeling!Thankfully I was with my husband and we were able to find somewhere to sit until the feeling passed. Since then, I've had dizzy spells on and off.

Have you told family and friends yet?: We've told close family and friends.

Miss anything?: My regular jeans. I have a couple pairs of maternity jeans but they just aren't the same as regular jeans.

Movement: No - still too early.

Food cravings: Grapefruit juice, grapes, fruit roll ups (weird, I know)

Anything make you queasy or sick?: I was cooking chicken the other day and the smell made me feel queasy. I was fine to eat it once it was cooked though.

Have you started to show? Yes

Gender prediction: My husband and all of our family seems to think it's a girl. I tend to be leaning towards a girl as well - but I wonder if I'm feeling this way simply because everyone else thinks it's a girl!

Belly button in or out?: In

Wedding rings on or off?: On

Happy or moody most of the time?: Mostly happy

Looking forward to: Getting our stroller delivered in the next few days.

Wow. Have I ever been MIA lately. But I have a good reason - let me explain...

The term positive can be described for a variety of things. I'd like to think that I've always been a positive person. I see the glass half full most of the time. But sometimes, life can throw curve balls and we find it hard to stay positive all of the time. But, on the other hand, life can be so positive that we feel almost ready to explode from sheer joy.

And that sheer joy is what I've been feeling as of late.

You see, this past year and a half has brought so much positiveness to my life. Life has just been so darn lovely - I met a boy, fell madly in love and got married in Hawaii with the people we love most in this world as our witnesses. I gained a stepson and have enjoyed my new role as wife and stepmother tremendously.

I truly have felt blessed beyond words. That is, until the ultimate in positive happened on December 17, 2014....

I happened upon two positive pregnancy tests.

That's right, we found out we're expecting and I am now 14 weeks and 5 days along and due in August! Life doesn't get much more positive then that!

We're excited, nervous, overjoyed, happy, scared and blessed beyond words.

Seriously, I didn't think life could get anymore positive and then this little miracle happened and life got 100% sweeter.

Happy 2015 all! I can't believe we'll already nearing the end of January! Time sure flies by....

Lately, I've been all about comfort. Leggings, cozy sweaters, roomy knits, blanket scarves and boots have all been on the top of my list as of late. There's nothing quite like being cozy in the Winter months.

....from my little family to yours.

You know what I feel today? Complete and utter peace. Like this exact moment, in this exact place, with these exact people, is EXACTLY where I'm supposed to be this Christmas. It feels like one of those moments where I'd like to just bottle up and save forever and ever. It's just that good.

I feel so blessed, fortunate, happy, excited, loved, content. And while, I'm sure there are a few presents under the tree for me, I just feel like I have everything I could ever want or need sitting right here beside me.

My two boys are my everything and some how, this Christmas, santa brought me exactly what I wanted and needed most in my life. Or maybe it was God or some power of the universe I am unaware of. But whatever it is, I gotta send a little gratitude out into the world because it's this moment and every other moment this year and the people that have shared in those moments that remind me how beautiful life really is.

So Merry Christmas and, in fact, Happy Everything.

Because, really, happiness is what makes life so beautiful.

Is everyone ready for Christmas?

It's been so fun this year having a little one to buy for - he's five so we're right in that perfect stage where he believes wholeheartedly in Santa. He's had an advent calendar that he opens everyday and is counting down each day with full anticipation and excitement of what's to come.

He told us the other day that he wanted to make a Christmas list for Santa (we better get on that!) but that he wasn't going to make the list too long as he didn't want to be greedy - gotta love him and those Berenstain Bear books for teaching him not to be greedy!

On Thursday, we're taking him to see the Christmas train that is pulling into our city that evening. He loves trains and Christmas lights so put them together and you've got yourself a pretty spectacular evening on your hands (well, for a five year old at least!).

Christmas through the eyes of a child - it really is the best.

Want to know another thing I'm loving this Christmas....turtlenecks. That's right. There's just something so warm and cozy about a turtleneck - plus there's no need for a necklace or anything so makes for a pretty easy outfit!

wedding - the ceremony.

We recently got our professional wedding photos back from our photographer and OMG - they are beautiful. I could be a bit bias and, really, how terrible could pictures be in Hawaii, but honestly we couldn't have ask for anything better. There were so many incredible shots that it's been very difficult to narrow down my favourites.

Our photographer was so great. It actually rained immediately following the ceremony so we were a bit bummed thinking that our photo session would be cut short given the rain. Well, our photographer was kind enough to offer to shoot us the following day. There is something to be said for wanting to be natural on your wedding day - I sure wasn't concerned about having to do my hair and make up again for the photo shoot the following day.

These photos hold such special memories for us. We couldn't have ask for anyone more perfect to capture our special day.
