Anti Mosquito and Repellant Plant

Have you heard about anti mosquito/repellant plant? Thanks, God I have it. It was given to me as gift from a friend of mine. Honestly, I am wondering if there are such things as anti mosquito/repellant plants. According to my friend the plant name is citronella eucalyptus. She bought it for Php 150 per bundle. Hmmm…I don’t know if this really works to drive away mosquitoes.

Other benefits:
The plant stem and leaves will be extracted as oil. It is very helpful when used for headaches, fevers, ailments, muscular aches and pains and in skin care.

Actually, I just placed the citronella eucalyptus plant in the vase then, add some moss, crystal jells and added ½ glass of water. I put red ribbon to be more presentable.

Alay Lakad 2011

This year we will be celebrating the 38th year anniversary since Alay Lakad started way back in 1973. The Foundation will be holding the 38th Annual walk for a cause on September 25, 2011 at 6:00 in the morning. The venue will be at Fuente Osmena.

The Theme for this year’s affairs is “Bridging the Gap...For a Better Future…One step at a time.”

The Annual walk is a fund raising campaign to raise fund for the various programs of the Foundation for the out of school youth. The Cebu City Council passed resolution no. 12-3334-2011, dated June 22, 2011 urging full support for the walk.

The activities scheduled are being done with support from the Cebu City Government and the four major civic groups: Jaycees International, Lions International, Rotary International and Kiwanis International. Funds that are being raised will be used to fund the following program and projects:

High School Educational Assistance Program
College Scholarship
Skill Training Program
Livelihood Training Program
Alay Lakad Therapy Centers
Basura Mo, Kaugmaon Ko program
Adopt a Scholar Program
Job Placement and Apprenticeship Program

13th Chancellor's Cup Bowling Tournament

The University of Cebu holds its annual bowling tournament. This is open to all faculty and non-teaching staff of the university. I am one of the high school bowlers. Finally, in eight years, we decided and come up with a new name "keglers" instead of HS bowlers. Keglers was given and suggested by one of our die hard bowler Ms. Rj. Thanks, for the new name of team.

During the opening of 13th Chancellor's Cup Bowling Tournament, people were yelling and screaming to the top their voices when the emcee presented the teams and participants of the tournament. Unfortunately, we did not make the BEST IN BOWLING ATTIRE. However, in our game the team are still doing it better.

The Bowling Etiquette that every bowler should cosider:

Give way to the bowler on your right.
Be ready for your turn to bowl.
Don,t take too much time on approach.
Confine boby english to width of your lane.
Don't distract the opponent when he is addressing the pins.
Be a good loser as well as a good winner.
Don't give advice unless it is asked for.
Please keep your temper and language in check.
Don't "loft" your ball.
Please return ball to rack and shoes to the counter.

The Basics of Ten Pin Bowling

Bowling is a sport, which heavy bowls are rolled down a long lane to knock over the ten target pins at the other end bowling down an alley at a target of ten wooden pins.
Along with players, the popular form of bowling is ten pin bowling, the other ones being ninepin, five pin, candlepin and duckpin. Ten-pin bowling makes use of a large ball.

Here are the basics that every bowler should know.

Equipments:

(10) bowling ball pins
bowling balls
bowling lane
gutter
bumper
bowling shoes

Bowling Terminology:

Approach

The area at least 15' long, on which the player walks to the foul line. Usually adjacent to the ball returns and has spots embedded in the approach to aid in lining up.

Backswing

The path of the arm behind the body during the next to last step in the delivery.

Channel or gutter

There are 2 channels on each side of the lane. Once a ball falls into the channel or gutter before hitting pins, the bowler shall receive a zero.

Count

The number of pins knocked down on the first ball.

Foul

Touching or going beyond the foul line.

Frame

One-tenth of a game. Each square on score sheet is one frame.

Gutter ball

Delivery which rolls off the lane into the gutter.

Hook

A ball that breaks sharply toward the pocket.

Leave

Pins remaining after the first delivery.

Pocket

Area between 1-2 pins for a lefty and 1-3 pins for a right hander.

Spare

Knocking down all remaining pins in the second ball or delivery.

Strike

Knocking down all ten pins with the first ball or delivery.

Target Arrows

Sighting targets embedded in the lane to help the player align start position. Usually 15' down the lane from the foul line.

Track

Path to the pins created by many balls rolled in the same general area.
