I have been working on a

custom order for

two dog crate pads

for Jordan's bus driver.

"Miss Pat" shows Irish Setters.

The white print fabric is an old Moda print,

"Pampered Pooches."

The finished size is 23 1/2" by 33 1/2,"

with a layer of batting,

and solid denim on the back.

I finally made the decision to send my

Babylock Esante Digital Embroidery Machine

on to its next owner.

It never fails.

Just when we have committed ourselves to

purchasing laminate flooring for the family room,

and we chiseled out the tile in the front hallway,

our refrigerator decided to die.

The part that failed,

was the same part we had repaired,

and replaced, three years ago.

The part that was supposed to last another 15 years.

Well, sooner than we had planned,

we purchased a new refrigerator.

When the delivery men brought it into the kitchen,

we realized the new refrigerator was

1/4" too wide for the opening.

We had to remove the wood trim in order to slide the refrigerator into its opening.

Alls well that ends well in the kitchen for now.

Tomorrow the installation of the new flooring!

We have now commited ourselves to purchasing laminate flooring in our Family Room.

So we decided to remove the tile

in the foyer and entrance hall to the Family Room,

and put laminate there too.

And no, our tile did not pop out easily

like it does on EVERY home improvement show you see on TV.

It was glued with the most adhesive tile glue that was ever invented.

My poor husband had to break every tile into millions of pieces.

Our hallway looked like an earthquake had demolished it.

And the dust and mess was everywhere, especially in my sewing room.

Over Father's Day weekend,

I finally convinced my husband to rip out the carpet in the Family Room.

In true DIY fashion,

we would use concrete "etching stain,"

and,

in about a day,

we have a beautiful Family Room floor again,

something just like the picture!

Beautiful,

low maintenance,

and totally achievable.

Right?

Wrong.

We cut the carpet out, removed the padding underneath in sections.

This is what we found when we finally saw the concrete slab.

Someone started to spray paint their name.

Someone else spilled the paint bucket,

then set the bucket in the spill,

then moved it around a couple of times,

and tried to unsuccessfully to clean it up.

Totally dashing our hopes for staining the concrete floor.

Our only option now was to take the plunge and get laminate flooring.

Right now

A birthday quilt

My daughter is going to be seven the first week of March.

I thought a pretty quilt,
made with prints from the same fabric collection as her duvet,
could be one of her birthday presents.

I also wanted to try my hand at free-motion quilting again.
(I sent my Christmas quilt to be long-arm quilted
by Russ and Rhonda at The Backporch Quilters.)

Now to finish the quilting and then add the binding.
I found the perfect pink polka dot fabric for the binding.

I am excited to see it finished,
before her birthday,
which is in a couple of weeks.

A pretty little duvet

Just before Christmas, I convinced myself to complete a project
which had been floating around in my mind for a while.

I made a twin-sized duvet for my daughter's bed to cover her down comforter.

Which is white.

Which is why it needed a duvet.

The fabric is from "A Beautiful Time" from RJR fabrics
and I love how pretty and feminine it turned out.

And I just loved how excited she is when she gets in her bed now.
