Al Fresco Dining in Shangri-La Mactan

My family went to Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa for a day tour on our second day in Cebu. We left Islands Stay Hotel at 9 o'clock without any breakfast so we had to look for a place to eat right after paying for our tags. Tides was inviting but it was already crowded when we passed by. Hence, we tried checking the Buko Bar but unfortunately, it doesn't open until 10 in the morning.
Our feet guided us back to Tides. We queued to get a table, then asked the waitress for an al fresco dining when it was already our turn. I ordered Filipino breakfast for hubby, pancakes for me and cereal with milk for my daughter. While waiting for our food, the complimentary tea, juice and a plateful of cake and pastries came. We realized there was too much food on table that we had to cancel the cereal with milk by the time the pancakes and Filipino breakfast arrived. The pancakes alone were too much. They gave me 4 pieces served with fresh fruits on the side. I couldn't finish it since I was almost full with the cakes and pastries alone. Anyhow, I managed to consume the fruits and a piece of pancake. Total bill with what we ordered: P995.
The al fresco dining during breakfast was nice so we did it again at lunch. This time, we chose a table nearer the talisay tree where we could see the birds closely. It was just fun eating while watching them flying from the tree to the empty tables, looking for some crumbs to eat. It was even more enjoying having that scrumptious buffet lunch (available from 11AM to 2PM) inclusive to the day tour tags which we paid P2500 per person; while the little one was free of charge.

Islands Stay Hotel - Mactan Branch

I was fascinated with this hotel's fun and modern design. I love its location, very near the Cebu Mactan International Airport, only a 3-minute taxi ride. If you need to go to a store or restaurant, you just have to walk for 2 minutes. There are awesome beach resorts and spas within the same island, too. Well, just some of the reasons why I chose Islands Stay Hotel - Mactan branch for our recent Cebu trip.

I wasn't able to photograph the facade of the hotel, but this is the front desk.The left side is the newly opened Zubuchon, famous Cebu lechon, Anthony Bourdain's "Best pig.. ever!"
These are the rooms with the parking lot on the right.It's more like a motel from one of those Hollywood movies, right? :)

The Islands Stay Hotel - Mactan Branch has Small P980, Medium P1450 and Large rooms for P1650 per night. Ours was a large room that could occupy up to 4 pax.

There are just a few colors you can see in this hotel.They are white, orange and green.
Each room has an LCD TV, aircon and land-line telephone.However, only Large rooms has tables and chairs and kitchenette (below).

The bathroom has hot and cold shower other than toilet and lavatory.And, supplies of clean towels, shampoo, soap and cotton buds come everyday.
Things that I DO NOT LIKE about the hotel:-Most pillows, including this bean bag lack fluffiness.-The kitchenette is bare*. There is nothing in it.-They do not serve breakfast in the hotel. Thus, the affordable rate.-There were no chairs on our first night and just a single one came the next day.
Things that I LIKE about the hotel: -All the things I mentioned above.Plus..-Budget-friendly.-There is free wifi for everyone.-They have Zubuchon at the hotel lobby. -The staff are friendly. You forget your complain after you see them smile.---
Overall, I am giving this hotel a 7/10 rating.If I were to go back to Cebu, I would possibly stay at the same place.

Hello dearies! Wow, it's been a while. Sorry for no updates.
Been busy doing errands and stuff prior to my vacation.
Anyway, here is my post on SKIN Party.

It was a glamorous party held at Genting Club in Resorts World Manila.
Celebrities, actors and models gathered for the TAO (Talent Agents’ Organization) Skin Party.

I came around 7 PM so I was able to take photos of the early birds.Here is, the “Prince of Soul", Jay-R rehearsing his number for the program.

She came to the place wearing this chiffon top and leather-like shorts.I like her top, looks very comfortable to wear.

Rehearsal is over. Came the celebrity doctor and her fiance Hayden Kho.Here, the were asked about the date of their marriage and she said, "Secret!"The secret was revealed yesterday.. Dra. Vicki Belo and Hayden just split up!Oh yeah, for the 9th time? WOW! That's a very sad Valentine!

Shopping Haul!!!

Hello ladies! How's your Wednesday morning? As for me, I am still sleepy from partying last night. I know some of you are excited to see the party photos, but I just have to prolong your excitement by posting this one first.. my latest shopping haul! :))

Last year, a shameless person borrowed my carry-on luggage and never gave it back. This is why I needed to buy a new one for my short trips. Again, I bought something that I can use for both domestic and international flights. A luggage of the same size from the brand Sky Travel. Yay, excited to stuff this one with clothes for our Valentine trip to Cebu!
Hmmm.. what do I have here? Well, just an assortment of personal toiletries and some cheap makeup to experimenting with. By the way, I wanna promote Happee products because they're Philippine made and cheaper than any other brands. At home, we have like 4 different kinds of Happy toothpaste. My daughter uses Happee Kiddie toothpaste in bubble gum flavor, then hubby and I have 2 variants of Gumtect. Lastly, we have Happee Menthol Red for ordinary use.
Recognized those maxi dresses from my post last weekend? Summer is coming and I felt like shopping already so I bought those maxi dresses and sun dresses. And, those summer shorts were very cheap. I got them for less than P200 from the kid's section while looking for a Minnie Mouse swimsuit for my daughter. Surprisingly, they fit me really well. Haha!

Now here's a replacement to our Asus Eee PC T91 which I gave to my sister-in-law last summer.. the Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus. Hubby found a reason to buy another gadget after he lost the Nokia E63 last weekend at Time Zone in Glorietta. Waahahaha! It doesn't come in pink!

Dreaming of a House

We went to Ark Avilon Zoo in Pasig a couple of weekends ago to introduce our daughter to more kinds of animals. That's after bringing here to Manila Zoo the previous week. While we were having a photo op at the entrance of the zoo, our look were directed to this lovely, lovely wooden dream house.

Hubby and I got very interested with it that we didn't leave the place without getting an information on how to get a house similar to it. The woman at the front desk informed us that it's by Trusswood and it's for sale for 3 million pesos. Read: P3,000,000 for the house alone. If you want to buy it, you should pay the rent of the lot which is P35,000 monthly. If you already have a lot of your own, you can possibly fold the house down and transfer it to your place. Problem is, the transferring may cost a lot of money.

Anyway, Trusswood is a company selling quality wood like those with termite protection. They are not the developer of this house, they are just the supplier of the wood used for its construction. Whoever is the developer or designer of this beautiful wooden abode.. I am yet to learn. My husband and I would love to own a house that's looking like this. I forgot to take photos of the interior, but it was really nice and cozy.

Buying a Maxi Dress

I know it isn't summer yet. I think the hot season will officially start next month. I just needed to buy myself a new maxi dress in preparation for my family's Valentine getaway. We are hitting the beach so I thought getting into a beach dress would be appropriate. I checked several stores and lucky to find fab summer dresses at SM Department store in Makati. These dresses are by Coco Cabana. Read: please excuse my flabby arms. Uffff!

I am not Chinese and I don't really believe in things like this. I was just curios. Anyway, blessings come to those who deserve it right? Mini Cooper: Driving is Just Cute

At EDSA, on my way SMX Convention center to attend the iPanema fashion show last year, I saw this blue car which caught a lot of commuter's attention. I don't know a lot of things about wheels, so I ask hubby about its model and I was told that it's the iconic mini cooper. I believe this one is vintage, but the owner might have customized it already.

Last night while on the way home, I spotted this vintage mini cooper again parked outside a store near our place. I saw him a couple of times before, however I was not lucky to have my camera with me.

In Philippines showbiz, actress Angelica Panganiban is famous with the mini cooper that was given to her by model/ actor boyfriend Derek Ramsey as an anniversary gift back in 2009. It was a yellow mini cooper car which Angelica named as "Baby James". That time, her mini probably costed over a million already. Oh well, what a very lucky pretty girl.
Now back to me, I still do not know how to drive and I don't think I would want to drive ever. If am only as brave as those drivers who run through EDSA, racing with buses, taxis and jeepneys. If only I have the guts, then I guess I will drive not just mini cars, I will also push myself in driving bigger cars like this Hyundai Tucson which I saw at Kotsebook.com. Cars are just too cute sometimes, right?

Hello ladies! It is has been a lazy week for me. Lazy because I had problem with my files and couldn't fix it, so decided to be a couch potato and had a marathon of Turkish movies. Well, no more problem now that's why I am back to blogging. Now look at these sweets. I know I have to watch my diet but they are very much tempting!

Hubby bought this the other day. This is one of Dunkin' Donuts newest premium donut.My daughter and I shared bites but we couldn't even finish it.If I remember it right, I think hubby said he paid P46 for this donut.

My yummy champorado or chocolate pudding with evaporated milk on top.I have to slowly finish the glutinous rice I got from the province,so I cooked this for breakfast. The little one loves this so much.

Then, hubby bought a cake BreadTalk AGAIN!This one's called chocolate passion.Like the Snowy Mountain cake, this cake also costs P600.
Later today, I am gonna be attending a couple of parties. You know in parties, sweets are always present. Very bad 'cause I'm trying to have a slimmer figure for my early summer vacation this February. What should I do? Like is too short to deprive yourself of things that's keeping you feel in love.. chocolates!!

Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown Final 5

I watched Survivor Philippines since the 1st season and until now, the Celebrity Doubles Showdown Season 4. I like Survivor Philippines so much because every episode is exciting. Each immunity challenge, reward challenge and tribal council is worth watching.

From a total of 10 celebrity couples or 20 castaways, last night, the final 5 were finally revealed. KC, Stef, Mara, Maey and Betong were left after Arnold of the Philippine Volcanoes was voted out.
On Mara: I totally agree with Stef when she said Survivor is not the place to fall in love. Poor Mara. She kinda reminds me of Jeff Gaitan from Season 2 who had a mutual understanding with her fellow castaway, Marvin Keiffer. The guy is cute and sweet so I couldn't blame Jeff. But Arnold? No!
On Stef: She is doing good. I mean, she works while in the shelter, pushes to her ability on challenges and votes wisely on tribal councils. Others call her maarte, I think she can possibly make it until the final 3.
On Maey: I can't believe this girl. She showed a lot of strength in immunity challenges and finally beaten Arnold with the balancing of pole challenge. She is just too kind that she gave back the immunity bracelet to Mara. Tsk tsk tsk!
On Betong: Very funny guy and lovable castaway too. A lot of people sympathize to this guy especially when he wanted to win a reward challenge for his very sick friend but lost it to Arnold. He didn't win anything yet, but let's see 'cause he might be a part of the final 3.
On KC: After Geneva decided to quit Survivor, KC moved on, played even without a double. I think it was better that way. His game is simple and he is also one of the most loved among the castaways. He stands as a threat to his fellow castaways but I guess his reputation as an good player will be able to take him to the final 3.
Among the five, I think I would want either KC or Maey to win as the sole survivor. Let's see!

A red pashmina and a traditional blue Turkish scarf.I requested my brother-in-law to buy these for me.They're light so they can be worn anytime of the year.
A small evil eye bracelet, reminds me of the Turkish Grand Bazaar.
Then, hubby bought this evil eye pendant as replacement to my flower pendant.Remember I wished for a J pendant? Well, I changed my mind and asked for this instead.He also bought another item (something more valuable), but I chose not to post a photo here.Thanks to my sweet hubby. I consider this his advance Valentine gift.

Some Treats and Pampering

So busy these days. I am always out to run errands and everything. Luckily, I was able to squeeze my time for some shopping and pampering. I got my hair trimmed and treated at David's Salon.

For the treats: I got myself a new pair of sexy red brassiere from Natasha.Sorry ladies.. no photo of me wearing this one. Haha!

And, some beauty products and cosmetics. Hubby requested for those bottles of Watson's Body Wash and cotton buds. Then, I emptied my Maybelline Lip Gloss so I just needed a new one. I know you know I already switched back to Nivea, but this weather is making my skin look and feel more terrible. While there is no doubt Nivea Body Milk and Nivea Hand Age Defying Q10 Plus work pretty good on me, I just have to buy A Bonne Spa Milk and Olay Total Effects again. These are two of my old favorite beauty products that work miraculously on my face and skin. Perhaps, I'll always use them from now on.

I created this post to show my support to the Department of Tourism (DOT) with their "It's More Fun in the Philippines"campaign. As a Filipino citizen, I felt the need in promoting it and telling other people about how good of a country this is. I know Philippines is not perfect and has a lot of flaws, but bottom line is, it is the only country that I have!

Last year, our family traveled local but also went abroad twice. This 2012, we are planning to have a short vacation to places like Cebu, Romblon (my province), Boracay and Vigan. I hope the list doesn't stop there though. Besides, tickets can be very cheap like that P1 base fare that I was able to get from Cebu Pacific. We'll see if we can maximize all the holiday of this year and have more fun here in the Philippines!

I just checked Sparkle & Fade dresses online and I was shocked how expensive they really are. Price ranges P5,000 and below for a smart casual dress. Something that made me very happy with this latest find of mine. A simple looking dress but beautiful when worn.

It reminds me of Kate Middleton's Issa dress.
