Last weekend, for our Easter break, I drove to our family's beach house and spent Thursday through Sunday with my nana, Uncle Jack, Aunt Debbie, and my "baby" cousin. That is what I will always call her even though she is 10 1/2 already!

I really want to live at the beach this summer as my mom did the summer before she left for college and as my Uncle Jack did the year after his freshman year of college. I did get some beach time, but I also went out job hunting. Being Easter weekend, it was difficult. My mom did say she would give me a week or two after school gets out (May 10!!! WOOHOO!!!) to find a job down there. If not, it is home for the summer.

I went home Sunday evening. It was rather late when I arrived so I basically headed on to bed. Monday, my mom and I headed off shopping. We needed to exchange a dress that she purchased for me (wrong size) for sorority stuff when I have to wear a white dress. This one has cap sleeves so I can wear my quill without having to wear my sweater or shrug all of the time. I really do like it, but am still going to hunt down the perfect white dress for such occasions. Something a little fancier.

However, we did shop! I have weddings coming up 3 weekends in a row starting May 14th. That is my cousin's wedding and I will be wearing this dress:

It is a Jessica Simpson dress and I love the way it looks and feels. I just need to find the jewelry and other accessories to go with it. I may just end up wearing bone colored heels for the wedding. The best part of this dress is I can dress it up and dress it down. I think it will be great next year for socials!

The next weekend, my daddy's twin sister is getting remarried. It will be outside by the pond and a big barbecue afterwards. We were told to wear anything and feel free to be barefoot. Well I just can't see myself wearing shorts (as some people will be wearing) and going barefoot. So I choose this seersucker sundress I purchased last year. I am in the blue. That is my friend Piper who blogs at Tarleton West. We were in Myrtle Beach last summer for the July 4th holiday.

The final wedding is actually the wedding of my 10th grade biology teacher. We became very close through the year and have remained very close. She left school to pursue some more advance education but we still kept in touch. I was so excited to receive an invite to her wedding. It will be black tie and after the ceremony, there will be dinner and dancing at the Carolina Country Club.

In this day and time, it is hard to find a true cocktail dress with appropriate length so I went with a long gown. The following pictures do not do this dress justice at all. I am absolutely in love with this gown and it fits perfectly, and unlike the pictures, it is the perfect length.

It is actually purple, and I love it!

And here I thought most weddings took place in June!

Apparently there was a blip with Feedburner and I had to reset the entire account. Several people who usually received email updates did not receive them with the last post. I do apologize. Now that Feedburner has been reset, I need you to please do me a favor and re-subscribe to the email updates, if you wish to continue to read them. Thanks to everyone who still comes and checks on my blog. I truly intend to update more as soon as my laptop is fixed, and I finish my lit paper!!

When you are having fun and when you aren't.

This week is Greek Week and we are currently in second place! Tonight is the big night... the talent showcase! We have been working hard on our routines and the show will be amazing. I can't wait... and hopefully the different routines will be posted on YouTube very soon!! We usually win the showcase and we have won Greek Week for 3 years now.

As for not having fun!?!?!? My computer has been in the capable hands of one of our tech ladies. At first we thought it was just the fact that I somehow had over 300 viruses. YES, I have very good virus protection and it updates constantly and consistenly runs in the background. Most of them came from apps and links on Facebook! Alas, the damage had also been done to the hard drive. Dell is sending me a new hard drive and the Dell hardware tech is coming Monday to install the drive. HOPEFULLY, he can save some of the items on my hard drive. Specifically, all of the documents I have saved. My music, pictures, and links will probably be gone. And on top of that... I had been slaving over my Lit paper. Haven't had access to my notes and such and have started over on my roomie's computer! Thank goodness for flash drives!

One other item of note for this past week, we received our housing assignments for next year. I made it into Jefferson Apartments (all students must live on campus... dorms for frosh, different sets of apartments for all others) and we even get my "big brother's" apartment which has been my second home this year.

We have our quad and right across the quad is the outdoor swimming pool where I spend quite a bit of time and the "beach" volleyball court. And parking is right our my back door! My current roomie and I will still be together, and we have 2 more good friends moving in. Best thing...W/D for only 4 to share. And a good size kitchen and LR. The kitchen has a full size fridge and even a dishwasher!! WOOHOO!

But first things first, finishing up my freshman year!!

Early American Literature

In Early American Literature I am having to do a research paper and presentation on the Scarlet Letter. If anyone knows of any good information of this story feel free to let me know. My paper is on Pearl and Chillingworth. I chose the topic because of the name Pearl, you can truly see how southern I am because I have not read the story yet, I chose it based off of the pearl being my favorite jewlery.

November has had its ups and downs so far for sure..

Good News:
I am now an initiated member of the Iota Zeta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta. I was initiated this past weekend with the other 23 girls in my pledge class.

Bad News:
My knee has given me my fair share of problems this month. Turns out I tore my hamstring in a couple places and I am working to get it fixed. Crutches, a knee brace, physical therapy, and a shot that hurt really bad. Please keep me in your prayers as I am going through this rough time during my first semester in college.

Fall Break

It's hard to believe my first fall break has come and gone. I must admit, I was a little disappointed when I got home because no one was there to meet me. My Mommy and Nana had gone shopping and Daddy was working. I put my stuff in my room and I was definitely surprised. My mommy had rearranged my room and cleaned it up. The furniture was moved, the stuff on the walls were moved or removed (eek!), but except for the bedding, everything was all mine! It looked amazing!! However, she did admit that she was going to paint the room soon.

Daddy had baked me an entire pan of brownies! He would not even let mommy touch them the night before. He even told her they were for me. Thank you Daddy!

Mommy and Nana and I met for dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant and then home. I was actually exhausted.

Saturday, we just hung out. Daddy grilled steaks for dinner.

Sunday I went to church with an old "new" friend, if you get my drift. Another day of relaxing and watching movies.

Monday, was not the best day of fall break. I had to go have a consultation with an orthodontist. I have had braces twice already but my teeth have moved again, even wearing my retainer. So it appears, I will be getting some braces again for about six months but then will have permanent retainers. Mommy and I ran a few errands then ate lunch, ran by the fabric store to get some fabric and monogramming thread. I have a few things to be monogrammed, and we were going to make me a stitched shirt for my sorority. I went with Mommy to her doctor's appointment and then home.

Tuesday, I went to my last job, which is a dry cleaners, to drop off a coat to see if a stain could be removed. It is a wonderful winter coat and will be perfect for my little cousin. I also dropped off a dress to be hemmed. After that I ran by my old high school and surprised my best friend, who is a senior. When I came home, Mommy and I went to my Nana's house to start the monogramming but we ran out of time. It should all be done when I come home for Thanksgiving.

That's about it...uneventful but wonderful all the same. I hated to leave but looked forward to getting back to school. I definitely will not be coming home again until Thanksgiving because we have something every weekend with my sorority to get ready for initiation. I can't wait for that!! Now I am on the hunt for a white dress and white shoes!

At least my family is planning to come down Halloween weekend for our Homecoming!

I think I am going to take a nap before my next (last) class of the day: Phys Ed. Ugh. At least there are some cute guys in there. : )

Recruitment Update #2

Last night was Philanthropy and Financial night. Afterwards, they Pi Chis told us they would call us around 3 if we didn't get any invites back for this morning which was our "Sisterhood" session. I was so excited when I got to our location this morning and had received all 3 invites. We had the Sisterhood session and then ranked the sororities in order 1-3. Tonight is pref night and you can only get a max of 2 invites. I am so excited. When I arrived tonight, I got 2 invites and they were from my top 2. If all 3 issue you a bid, you only get the 2 that matched your top 2 if you are lucky enough to still have that option. As you read this I should be at the second "house" for pref night. After that we aren't allowed to talk to anyone about it, so....

tomorrow I will post who I am pledging!!

Last night went great! It was Open House round and we spent 30 minutes with each of the 3 Sororities.

We had been requested to wear our Recruitment tees and I tried to dress it up a little.

I am so excited. Finally, at last, formal recruitment starts tonight! I have been waiting since summer for Recruitment to begin. Since I attend a very small, private school, we only have 3 sororities on campus. As for the frats...the same, only 3. As you can see in the picture above, AZD, Chi-O, and Tri-Sigma are the only sororities represented at WU. Our Recruitment schedule is as follows...

Sept. 22 @ 7 PM- Recruitment Orientation

Sept. 23 @ 7 PM- Open House Round

Sept. 24 @ 7 PM- Philanthropy and Financial Round

Sept. 25 @ 9 AM- Sisterhood Round

Sept. 25 @ 7 PM- Preference Round

Sept. 26- BID DAY:)

I have met so many girls in each sorority (I promise, no dirty recruiting going on here...you just can't help it when Recruitment is so late) and right now, I know the order of preference in my head, but I am going in completely open-minded!!

I will TRY to post an update each night or day after a round, and hopefully a picture or two, but no promises.

Let the fun and frenzy begin!!

Fashion Friday

When I went home for the Labor Day weekend, my mommy had me a huge box of Lilly!! I was so excited. She bought me the following at the Lilly Endless Summer Sale.

First off I received 3 Halle Cable Sweater in Navy, Green, and Pink.

She also bought me the following skirts:

She also purchased the Pandamonium skort. It looks like a skirt with the shorts inside. This is the skirt, the skort is straight across the bottom with hot pink trim.

And last but not least is this adorable dress:

Mommy and I can wear all of them plus everything she purchased for herself. I have a feeling we will be doing some sharing in the future. Right now, I am super pleased with what I have.

First of all, I want to apologize for my lack in posting and how sporadic it has been. My heading above states, "Follow me as I embark on my journey through college." I am not holding up my end of the deal. I do have good reason, I am too excited about school and everything that is going on that I forget to sit down and post what I am doing. I promise to start that immediately!

Now for the "Tickled Green" part. My sweet friend, Piper, over at TarletonWest gifted me with this award on Monday. So as a recipient of the Versatile Blogger ward, I am to share seven things about myself and then pass on the award to seven other blogging buddies!

Here goes:

1. This one isn't necessarily about me exactly, but my high school colors and my college colors are exactly the same.

2. I absolutely adore the color pink, "It is my signature color." (Shelby, Steel Magnolias)

3. I paid my car off 1 year and 4 months early

4. I am truly loving college and everything about it.

5. I can't wait until Sorority Recruitment starts.

6. I can hear the music start on any of my favorite movies and I know the movie immediately, and probably all the words.

7. I am finally turning into the true prep my mom always wanted...I love just about everything preppy...love my Lilly, Vineyard Vines, etc.
