The victims marched from Norzagaray to Metro Manila Monday to denounce Sen. Manny Villar who they said took their lands through underhanded means.

The group also held a rally in front of the Office of the Ombudsman to prod it to act on the graft and plunder cases filed against Villar, his wife Cynthia and their cohorts.

They claimed that Villar, presidential bet of the Nacionalista Party, could be using his power and influence to keep the cases dormant. They said the complaints have been pending for three years.

The protesters dared Villar to come out and face them and explain what really happened in the transaction entered into by their group with the Central Bank resulting in the mortgaging of some 480 hectares of their properties amounting to P1.5 billion. The Dumagats claimed that Villar used spurious documents to mortgage their property. However, Villar failed to pay the loan thus the CB acquired the property.

They are looking at the possibility of staging a hunger strike in front of the Laurel Mansion House in Mandaluyong City that serves as the NP campaign headquarters to dramatize their protest.

“Kung totoo na wala siyang kasalanan ay dapat na magpakalalaki siya at harapin kami at sabihin sa amin na wala siyang kasalanan pero dahil sa ginagawa niyang pagtatago at pag-iwas ay lalong nabubuo ang hinala namin na may kasalanan siya,” Sergio Cruz, a chieftain of the tribe said.

Valentino Amador said their protests have nothing to do with the coming elections. “Hindi po namin sinasadya na panahon ng pulitika ngayon at napilitan lamang kaming lumantad dahil matagal na din namang panahon na kami ay nagtiis at inapi,”Amador said. “Kung talagang para sa mahirap siya gaya ng ibinabandila niya sa mga patalastas niya ay dapat hindi na siya tumingin ng malayo para humanap ng mga taong dapat niyang tulungan. Kami na iyon dahil kami naman ang una niyang pinahirapan at pinahihirapan pa din hanggang sa ngayon.”

Prospect of Manny Pacquiao returning back to the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas for his next fight late this year is highly probable following the historic attendance generated by his welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey last week.

The 12-round bout won by the Filipino behind a lopsided unanimous decision, attracted a crowd of 50,994, the third biggest in modern day boxing history after the Muhammad Ali-Leon Spinks rematch at the Superdome in 1977 and the Julio Cesar Chavez-Pernell Whitaker showdown at the Alamodome in 1993.

That Pacquiao was able to pack the marvelous stadium billionaire Jerry Jones built at a cost of $1.2 billion despite taking on an opponent who has not really established a fan base in the U.S. is a tribute to the status of the Filipino southpaw as boxing’s top attraction today.

What more if Pacquiao was to face next a marquee challenger who considerably has a big cult following especially in a predominantly Latino state such as Texas.

Pacquiao has not minced a word about his desire to fight again at the Cowboys Stadium, which he describes as an ‘amazing arena.’

“It’s a great experience to fight in Dallas. I want to fight back here,” he said shortly after the Clottey bout. “I hope this would not be my last fight here. So it’s up to Jerry Jones. That’s his decision.”

Jones is also amenable to seeing Pacquiao fight in his multi-billion stadium again, saying the record attendance of his meeting with Clottey was beyond his expectations.

“The crowd can be special to boxing. I believe we can have a fight that can do that in boxing with Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum around,” said the Dallas Cowboys team owner and general manager.

Roach made Edwin Valero his premiere choice for Pacquiao’s next opponent, saying that a fight against the knockout artist from Venezuela is the next best marketable deal if talks with Mayweather, Jr. do not push through.

“I’ve been watching him a little bit. I know he’s a big puncher. He’s a southpaw and does pose some difficulties,” said Roach in an interview with boxingscene.com. “He’s better than just a guy who could punch but I think that’s the best marketable fight out there for us.”

Valero’s name has been floating years ago as one who could give the current pound-for-pound king a match the boxing world would likewise want to see. He’s undefeated in 27 bouts, all by knockouts with 19 coming in the first round.

Valero, too, has moved up from one division to another. He was a former super featherweight champion before moving to the lightweight class where he was able to defend his title twice, and now has a chance to prove his mettle when he fights as a junior welterweight in June or in July probably against Lamount Peterson.

Margarito, too, has no license to fight across the U.S. after the California State Athletic Commission found a pasty white substance in his hand-wraps before his bout against Shane Mosley in 2009.

“Margarito has no license. They said we could fight in Mexico but that’s not going to happen. That would be a real bad move for Manny Pacquiao – to slap the commissions in the face,” said Roach.

Personally, though, there is one man Roach would like Pacquiao to challenge before the seven-division champion hangs up his gloves for good.

“Personally, that’s the fight I want. Nacho [Beristain] (Marquez’s coach) is a good trainer and we’re competitive and I’d love Manny to knock him [Marquez] out,” Roach said.

Pacquiao had a pair of close fights against Marquez, a boxer Roach describes as ‘smart’ but not smart enough when the Mexican decided to go on with the bout against Mayweather, Jr. even though the American exceeded the weight limit of 145 pounds in their non-title match last year.

“Walang sumbatan o anumang away nang magkita kami. I gues, mas mature na kaming dalawa ngayon. Alam na namin i-handle ang aming mga sarili . We saw a copy of the decision and it says the justice department found no basis in the allegation that Richard was driving at “mind-boggling speed” when the accident happened.

If this were true, then the two passengers seated in front (Richard and his other assistant) would’ve been incapacitated by the accident.

They were saved by the fact that they were wearing seat belts when the mishap occurred, whereas the unfortunate Nomar failed to secure himself with a seatbelt at the back of the car.
