'Legacy' and 'Survivor Philippines' Overpower 'Walang Hanggan' in Mega Manila Primetime TV Ratings

AGB Nielsen Mega Manila People Ratings (Jan. 24-26) – "Legacy" scores its first overall lead in Mega Manila primetime last Tuesday (January 24) overtaking previous leader “Walang Hanggan”.

On the next night, its fellow Kapuso show “Survivor Philippines” takes the lead but it was immediately regained by “Legacy” on the ff. night. Can Legacy uphold its no. 1 position next week?

The lead star of Star Cinema’s upcoming romantic movie “UnOfficially Yours” talks about doing comedy, John Lloyd, and Phil in this latest magazine issue of MOD.

Angel’s highly-anticipated film with John Lloyd Cruz under the direction of Ms. Cathy-Garcia Molina will hit theaters nationwide by February 15. This is her 3rd movie under Star Cinema after “Love Me Again” last 2009 and “In The Name of Love” last 2011.

About upcoming primetime series on ABS-CBN, there are rumored reports now that she will be going to star in a drama series together with Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos. While from others said it’s probably another action-fantaseries will be assigned to her.

Star Cinema has released the official theme song for their upcoming romantic movie entitled “UnOfficially Yours”.

“If You Asked Me To” is the title of the song. (Short History) The very first version was recorded by “Patti LaBelle”. Celine Dion covered it on April 1992. From our pinoy singers, it was revived by M.Y.M.P on the year 2006.

And now for the said film, there are two new version of the song. One was sung by Angeline Quinto while for the male version it’s Erik Santos.

UnOfficialy Yours is Star Cinema’s valentine offering this 2012. It stars John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin under the direction of Ms. Cathy-Garcia Molina. The movie is set to open in theaters on February 15, 2012.

Survivor Philippines Update: 15 Castaways Down, 5 Still Standing

Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown is now down to its final five castaways after Philippine Volcanoes’ Arnold Aninion gets voted off in the recently concluded tribal council last Tuesday night.

This leaves Apolaki members KC Montero, Stef Prescott, Mara Yokohama, Maey Bautista and Betong Sumaya as the remaining castaways aiming to outwit, outplay and outdone each other to become the next Celebrity Sole Survivor and bring home P3 million cash prize.

Considered one of the strongest castaways in his batch, Arnold said he believed he was a big threat to other castaways and despite being voted off, he is happy because he's given his all in the game. Arnold is the now the 5th member of the Jury House. He joins Chuckie Dreyfus, Arthur Solinap, John Odulio, and Gino dela Pena. But will Arnold be warmly welcomed by the jury members?

As their journey continues, the remaining Apolaki members will again face another set of challenges that will truly test their strength and endurance.

'A Mother’s Story' Earns P24.81-M in 2 Weeks

The first local film to be shown this year, “A Mother’s Story” starring Pokwang registered a box-office gross of P24.81 million in two weeks.

As of January 22, the family-drama movie “A Mother’s Story” has accumulated a total of P24.81 million at the box-office from 50 major theaters. This is according to third party tabulator Box Office Mojo (click HERE to see the full figures). Well not bad at all, considering the presence of the 3 big foreign films – “Underworld Awakening,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked”.

A Mother’s Story is the only local film currently screening after the Metro Manila Film Festival. It was produced by The Filipino Channel and distributed by ABS-CBN International and Star Cinema. "A Mother's Story" which also stars Rayver Cruz and Xyriel Manabat has been Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

Pokwang Topbills Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) this Saturday

After the success of her film A Mother's Story, comedienne Pokwang will make TV viewers cry as she topbills Maalaala Mo Kaya this Saturday (January 28).

In this family drama episode, she portrays the role of Tita, a devoted wife and mother who pursued working as a field health worker to support her family. Her job took a toll on Tita's life when she discovered her husband's infidelity, which later on led to their marriage's annulment.

Things got worse for Tita when she lost the custody of her children. Pokwang's MMK episode also features Gardo Versoza, Perla Bautista, Dexter Doria, Jacob Dionisio, Izzy Canillo, Marissa Sanchez and Cheska Billiones. It was researched by Alora Ramos, written by Mark Angos, and directed by Dado Lumibao.

Don't miss this episode this Saturday in the longest running drama anthology of Asia, Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), after Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition on ABS-CBN.

Pagkatapos ng ilang linggong haka-haka at spekulasyon, eto na! Dramatic Actress Iza Calzado is now officially a Kapamilya!

Tama po ang nabasa niyo! Ang isa sa pinagmamalaking actress ng GMA-7 na si Iza Calzado ay opisyal ng isang Kapamilya Star! Pumirma na ng 3-years exclusive contract sa ABS-CBN ang 29-year old Award-winning actress kaninang umaga lamang. Present sa nasabing contract signing ang kaniyang Manager, Ms. Cory Vidanes, Ms. Linggit Tan, Director Laurenti M. Dyogi at ang ABS-CBN President & COO Charo Santos-Concio.

Hindi rin naging madali para kay Iza na iwanan ang Kapuso Network. Hindi katulad ng ibang artista na lumilipat sa ibang istasyon, may mga current shows naman siya na nilalabasan katulad na lamang ng noontime show na "Eat Bulaga" at musical variety show na “Party Pilipinas”. Ang huling primetime series na kaniyang pinagbidahan ay ang “I Heart You, Pare!” with Dingdong Dantes. In terms with movie ay ang MMFF Entry ng GMA na “Panday 2” with Bong and Marian. Throughout the years, maganda naman ang pangangalaga sa kaniya ng GMA-7.

Although wala pa naman tayong naririnig mula sa kaniya kung bakit o ano ang dahilan ng kaniyang paglipat, I think very reasonable naman yung ibibigay niya. Like other stars na lumilipat, siguro.. sa mas ikagaganda ng kanilang career sa mga susunod na mga taon. Subaybayan na lang natin ang mga interviews ni Iza sa mga Kapamilya shows.

Sa pagpirma ng kontrata sa ABS-CBN, anong shows ang dapat abangan sa kaniya? Well, malakas ang bulungan na siya ang papalit kay Sharon bilang host ng “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Season 2”. Ang first live appearance ni Iza bilang isang Kapamilya ay magaganap ngayong darating na linggo sa ASAP 2012 kung saan may grand welcome na ibibigay sa kaniya.

The 26-year old singer-actress almost shows her butt in her cover picture for the January-February 2012 issue of ROGUE Magazine. Whoo! What a sizzling 1st issue from Rogue this 2012! Another talk of the town! : )

KC has graced many magazine covers in the past but this one in Rogue I think is her most fierce, daring and controversial yet. This is actually her second cover for the magazine as her first was last February 2008.

Beginning January 29, Sunday nights on GMA-7 become more amazing with “iBILIB”, an infotainment program unraveling many bizarre and interesting trivia on the world of science.

Hosted by all-around TV personality, athlete and youth icon Chris Tiu and Kapuso actress and host Isabelle Daza, iBilib features scientific experiments presented in a magical manner as seen on Japan’s Wonders of Horus.

Joining Chris and Isabelle in exploring different scientific facts and theories surrounding everyday events are the comedic pair of Moymoy Palaboy.

The four of them are set to perform and participate in actual experiments on the show – with absolutely no camera tricks involved - making way for a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Know how a person can walk on water without getting his feet wet, or how a PVC pipe can make a plastic tinsel float in mid air!

'Kapamilya Deal or No Deal' Returns on Philippine TV with New Host Luis Manzano

Muling nagbabalik ang gameshow na minahal ng sambayanan, ang Kapamilya Deal or No Deal!

Noong nakaraang taon pa lamang ay usap-usapan na ang pagbabalik TV ng gameshow na “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” sa ABS-CBN. Sa pagbubukas ng taong 2012 ay sinimulan na ng Kapamilya Network ang paghahanap sa mga bagong 26K Girls na hahawak sa 26 brief cases na kung saan nakapaloob ang halagang mula P1 – P2-M.

Ang “Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal” ay nagsimula umeere sa Philippine Television noong June 2006 hosted by Queen of All Media Ms. Kris Aquino. Nakatatlong season ang nasabing gameshow at huli itong nasilayan sa TV noong March 27, 2009.

Pagkalipas ng halos tatlong taon ay muling ibinabalik ng ABS-CBN ang Kapamilya Deal or No Deal. Ngunit hindi na si Kris ang magiging host nito. Gaya na rin ng nabanggit sa kaniyang sariling morning show na “Kris TV”, ang anak ng Star for All Seasons na si Luis Manzano na ang bagong host ng gameshow sa pagbabalik nito. Ayon kay Kris, magsisimula na siyang gumawa ng isang primetime drama series entitled “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with Anne Curtis and Mr. Robin Padilla starting February kaya hindi niya magagampanan ng “full-time” ang paghohost ng nasabing gameshow.

Well deserved naman na maging host si Luis Manzano ng Kapamilya Deal or No Deal. Napatunayan na ang galing niya sa pag-hohost sa mga previous shows niya sa Kapamilya gaya ng “Panahon Ko 'To!: Ang Game Show ng Buhay Ko,” “Laugh Out Loud,” “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2” at “E-Live!”. Dahil na rin sa kahusayan sa pag-host ay naparangalan na si Luis ng ilang beses bilang “Best Male TV-Host,” “Best Male Showbiz-Oriented Talk Show Host” at “Best Game Show Host”. Maliban sa kahusayan sa pag-host ng isang programa, meron ding “karisma” ang 31-year-old actor sa taong bayan kung kaya’t hindi nakakapagtaka na marami ang humahanga at sumusuporta sa kaniya.

Kasalukuyang ipinalalabas na sa Kapamilya Network ang teaser ng nasabing pagbabalik ng “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal”. Ang latest chika namin, after Kris TV daw ito i-eere samantalang ang “Showtime” naman ay balik noontime slot na.

After “Reputasyon” and “Angelito: Batang Ama”, ABS-CBN is all set to launch another high-quality afternoon drama series this upcoming January 30 via “Mundo Man ay Magunaw”.

ABS-CBN’s newest Kapamilya Gold drama series, “Mundo Man ay Magunaw” sets the bar higher for afternoon soaps as it presents a compelling family drama featuring a formidable ensemble cast of young and seasoned actors that include Empress, Nikki Gil, Ejay Falcon, Sylvia Sanchez, Allan Paule, Pinky Amador, Jason Gainza, Dianne Medina, Alex Castro Tessie Tomas, and Eula Valdes.

According to Valdes, mothers can surely relate to the story of their new series. “I play the character of a loving mother who would sacrifice everything just to be reunited with her daughters,” she said.

Meanwhile, Empress shares her happiness over her new afternoon soap. “I’ll be playing a more mature role here. I’m a good daughter who is driven to fight for her family and who is willing to do anything to keep her mother happy. Viewers should also watch out for Ms. Eula in the soap because this time, she is not the villainess,” said Empress.

Gil, on the other hand, will give life to a power hungry character whose underlying goal is to gain the acceptance and appreciation of the people she loves. She shared, “As Jennifer La Peña, I will fight to prove that I am the rightful heir of my grandmother.”

“Mundo Man ay Magunaw” shares the entwined lives of Olivia (Valdes) and her daughters Sheryl (Empress) and Jennifer (Gil). After 20 years of imprisonment, Olivia is off to restart her life and rebuild the family she never had. Brought together by circumstances, the three women will realize that no matter how big their differences and conflicts are, they still have to reunite to save each other.

Will Olivia be willing to sacrifice everything just to win the love and bring her daughters back to her arms? Will Sheryl and Jenny surpass the tests of love and ambition when they finally discover the truth?
