Paella Marinara Bueffet P250

We ordered Callos and Paella Buffet Lunch which can be availed for only P250 per plate.

Callos

The buffet Paella Lunch was served on refill basis and they will only serve you another plate of Marinara Paella upon request.

Complimentary French Toast

While waiting for the Paella Marinara, Callos was served together with the complimentary french toast. The Callos was extra ordinary, the meat was so tender and the taste is truly unforgettable.

Banana Shake

After almost 25 minutes, the Paella was finally served. Its a perfect blend of rice, squid, clams, and shellfish but the taste is too plain for me.. nothing extraordinary.

Spanish Restaurant in Boracay

The Restaurants location makes this place very relaxing since its far from the party area and the crowded D’Mall. I’ll probably go back and tryout their Tapas and their famous Sangria.

After attending a Kraft Eden Cheese event at the Manila Hotel, we headed to The Stock Market in Bonifacio High Street for another exciting event – The “Century Corned Tuna Bloggers’ Cook-off“.

Century Corned Tuna in Fusilli Pasta

Being a Chef Wannabe, I always find time to attend an event specially if there’s a Cook-Off or any activity that involves cooking or baking. We arrived way too early in the venue since there’s surprisingly no traffic in Roxas Blvd and Edsa. Upon arrival, I met old friends in Print Media and I was introduced to Chef Rosebud – the beautiful host of Quickfire, one of my favorite among local cooking shows.

The cook-off concept was prepared ala Iron Chef. A similar set of ingredients were provided to both competing teams with the goal of creating an appetizer and a main dish using Century Corned Tuna which should be finished in an hour.

Century Corned Tuna Canapes

After the food preparations, the food will be judged based on the following criteria : Plating (20%), Originality (20%), Taste (25%) and the Innovative Use of Century Corned Tuna (35%).

Our team decided to prepare Corned Tuna Fusilli Pasta and Corned Tuna Canapes since its easy to prepare and the taste is already somehow familiar.

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs

While the two teams are busy cooking, Chef Rosebud and JM Rodriguez prepared some exciting games for the bloggers and celebrity guests. We were able to finish first and while waiting for the other team to finish, I decided to prepare additional set of Corned Tuna Canapes for others to enjoy:)

The Ingredients

Team B which was headed by Ajay were able to cook Corned Tuna Quesadilla for appetizer and Asian-inspired Tuna Pasta with Spinach, Asparagus, Almonds and Miso.

Team B was declared as the winner for the Food Bloggers cook-off and after the announcement, I congratulated Ajay and the rest of her teammates. Our team got Century Bangus Fillet (box of six) for each member as a consolation prize.

Fresh Asparagus

That event was actually one of the best food event that I have attended this year. Now I’m so eager to look for recipes that I can cook and feature in this blog with the use of Corned Tuna and Century Bangus Fillet. Soon!!!!

*Apologies for lack of photos, we were busy cooking during the event:) (I’m still requesting from the PR if they can provide some event photos)

Thank you Century Corned Tuna, Rogue Digital and The Stock Market.

Aga Mulach with Jolly Toy Scouts

For the past couple of years, Ive been supporting this project because I think donating a single toy can create a happier Christmas for Filipino Children. Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko is the country’s longest running toy and book donation drive. This project aims to continue spreading Christmas cheer to even more children in need, especially those affected by the recent unfortunate events.

Last year, Pinoy Kinds were invited to be part of the Jolly Toy Scout team in which kids took part in collecting toy and book donations within their neighborhood. Pioneering the effort to involve the youth and young at heart as advocates of MaAga ang Pasko, Aga Muhlach himself was honored as a Toy Scout Troop Leader during last year’s campaign.

Jollibee Toy donations

“Seeing young kids and grown-ups pitching in to make other children happy never fails to brighten my day. These young Jolly Toy Scouts get to really understand the value of sharing and that’s what I want my own kids to learn especially at a young age. I’m very proud to be a Jolly Toy Scout myself,” shared Aga.

This year Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko 2009 aims to be an even bigger platform for sharing happiness by collecting an unprecedented number of donations for this year. To celebrate its 15th year, Jollibeewill match every donation with a Jollibee toy, effectively doubling the number of gifts to be collected this year.

Aga Mulach

This year’s MaAga ang Pasko becomes even more meaningful as it opens up new channels to encourage donations, spark volunteerism and implement activities that foster goodwill and sharing this Christmas time.

The campaign introduces a component: the ADOPT-A-SCHOOL program that encourages schools and various institutions to become a partner of a beneficiary school. All toys and books that they collect, as well as the corresponding toys to be given by Jollibee to match their collection, will be given to their partner beneficiary school.

Worlds Famous Childrens Choir

This year’s MaAga and Pasko also aims to help schoolchildren affected by the recent natural disasters, as they will become part of the beneficiaries of the toys and books collected. Both Jollibee and Aga Muhlach– together with the Jollibee Foundation and the Jollibee Franchisees Association – have also committed to help renovate or construct several classrooms this year particularly in schools severely damaged by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

Throughout the years, Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko has grown bigger with even more supporters and partner institutions that have become one with the campaign’s objectives. For this year, the campaign has tapped over 30 schools nationwide and over 20 partner companies to help spread the Christmas spirit of making children happier during Christmas.

Dancing Jollibee and Friends

“MaAga ang Pasko has made Christmas more meaningful not only for the children receiving the gifts, but also for all those who have helped make the campaign what it is today. It has allowed all of us to experience the joy of giving even more, which is what Christmas is really all about,” says Jollibee Marketing Manager Aileen Ricasata. “And we’re really glad that MaAga ang Pasko has been growing even stronger throughout the years, thanks to everyone who have helped give kids more reasons to smile every Christmas,” she adds.

Anyway, I was privileged to be invited in the bloggers launch of San Marino Corned Tuna a couple of weeks back.

Spicy San Marino Corned Tuna

This newest product of CDO seeks to provide consumers with a better and healthy alternative to existing products of its kind while at the same time preserving the natural goodness of tuna that we have enjoyed through the years.

Tuna is abundant in the Philippine seas and as a matter of fact we are exporting some of our produce to Japan and other neighboring countries.

During the bloggers launch, we tasted the newest Tuna product available in the market called “Corned Tuna”. I was actually impressed and surprised that this tuna product somehow taste like my favorite corned beef brand except that its not made from beef.

Spicy Corned Tuna is Love

San Marino Corned Tuna is not only tasty but is also healthy. Its Omega 3 content is 390mg more than other brands, making each serving beneficial to the body. It helps prevent heart diseases and reduce the risk of heart attacks. Plus there is less oil in every can, which makes people enjoy more of the healthy goodness of corned tuna.

San Marino Corned Tuna is available in 100g, 150g, and 180g in supermarkets and sari-sari stores nationwide. There is also the San Marino Chili Corned Tuna which is available in 100g, 150g and 180g.

While having an interesting conversation, I took the opportunity to ask about her favorite restaurant in the island and she immediately suggested “Ole Spanish Tapas Bar”.

Gambas al Ajillo P349

Ive been seeing this restaurant since my first Boracay trip but I guess the facade and interior design of the restaurant never attracted me to tryout their offerings. There are several food joints in the island that offers Spanish fares but only Dos Mestizos and Ole Spanish Restaurant remained authentic and popular.

Paella Mixta P659

To start with, I ordered Gambas al Ajillo – Its a humongous serving of Pan fried medium sized shrimps in olive oil and garlic with eight spicy medium sized shrimps served along with complimentary garlic toast. Lesson learned – if you don’t know the serving size of the food, make sure to order appetizer first so you will not end up eating as if there’s no tomorrow (LOL).

After couple of burps, my Paella Mixta was finally served. I dont know how to start eating honestly coz I’m still full after finishing a plate of spicy and juicy Gambas. It took me five minutes before I finally lifted the serving spoon from the Paella plate and while transferring the food on my plate, the rain suddenly pour and the Habagat winds changed my mood so I decided to pair the Seafood Paella with what else? A cold San Mig Light.

Gambas al Ajillo P349

Being alcohol free for almost two months made me finish four ice cold bottle of my favorite beer but too bad I was only able to finish half plate of Boracays’s best Paella. I just love their Paella Mixta – Imagine an authentic Paella loaded with Pork, Chicken, Spanish Sausage, Mixed Seafood and fresh Vegetables.

Chocolate Mousse – P159

I thought I’m ready to jump and head back to Taj Guesthouse which is less than 100 meters away from the restaurant but the super friendly waitress served my dessert – a frozen Chocolate Mousse. Best way to enjoy Chocolate Mousse? Another bottle of SanMig Light haha!

En is right, this restaurant is one of the best in the island. No wonder, you will see different nationalities enjoying and recommending the restaurants food and overall service.

Forget about the price, Its all worth it!

I’ll probably have a Paella Hunt later:)

EnsayMada P65

Last week, I tried the Ensaymada from The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and I think it is one of the best tasting Ensaymada in the Metro.

Would you believe this Spanish pastry has evolved over the centuries? The original Ensaymada from Majorca is typically flat unlike the ones we usually see in famous bakeshops nowadays which is usually round shaped. If you want to see an Ensaymada that looks similar to “Ensaïmada de Mallorca”, try to look for it in small panaderia’s in your neighborhood.

Genmaicha Green Tea P95

Ordinary Ensaymada’s are only topped with margarine and refined sugar while the upscale versions uses butter, butter cream and quick melt cheese and or “Queso de Bola.

Ensaymada is traditionally paired with “tsokolate” or hot chocolate but I recently tried to pair it with GenMaicha Green Tea and its also good. Ok enough enough, I’m sure you know what I’m craving for right now..

Breakfast in an hour.

New Jollibee Chicken Barbecue

The launch was held in Astoria Plaza and was attended by a lot of Print, TV and New Media personalities. Everyone in the function room knows what Jollibee will be launching that day but the curiosity is still there and of course most of us are all excited to taste their newest offering.

The Launch

After a not so short presentation, Jollibee (the mascot) finally entered the function room and the brand manager finally announced the newest product of Jollibee. They started serving their new Jollibee Chicken Barbeque and while we are waiting, The Company – one of the countries best vocal group started to serenade us with their lovely set of songs.

Ang Huling El Bimbo

I love “The Company’s” version of “Huling El Bimbo”, too bad I lost my iPhone I should have recorded that song.

In less than a minute, our table was full of Chicken Barbecue and literally don’t know which to grab:) I am a huge fan of Jollibee Chicken Joy but after tasting their Chicken Barbecue I am now a convert. Imagine a freshly grilled Chicken Barbecue that is so tender and juicy with a special barbecue dip and a hot java rice on the side. You should really try it!!

Everyone’s favorite Mascot

Is it affordable? A one piece value meal will only cost you P89 while the 2 piece barbecue chicken value meal is available for only P139.

My Favorite

After tasting it in the recent launch, Ive been having a 2 piece Chicken Barbecue value meal almost thrice a week and that’s how I’m addicted to it:) The Jollibee Chicken Barbeque is currently available in Metro Manila stores only.
