first car I ever striped

found some 35 MM slides the other day and got this pic of my bug at the time . I ordered a pinstriping brush {Grumbacher} through the museum where I worked and went home and striped my car. ......summer of 1977
you can barely make it out but it was chrome yellow on the red car...a combination I'd never use now..

..forgot to post and tell all that there is a 3 page article on me in the latest "Pinstriping & Kustom Art" magazine from the UK. It's sold at Chapters in the Art section of the magazines.

...the Bonneville car I lettered did 167 MPH at the salt flats...they could have gone quicker , but they got the car licenced for 200 MPH but weren't allowed to go that fast until they make a few "upgrades"...(larger wheel studs , etc.}

...first Bonneville salt flats car I ever worked on...it's down in Utah right now and as of today , it has run a best of 167.73 MPH . Not bad for a 4 cylinder Mercury marine engine !!

Here's a link to an article that was written by the Horton's on their site while I was lettering their Project 32.

ALSO : there's a magazine article on me supposed to be coming out in the next issue of Pinstriping & Kustom magazine from the UK. It should be on the stands at Chapters around the 14 th of August .

...finished # 5 today , it's 428 Ghost Squadron RCAF. H. A. Shewfelt was a pilot with a Lancaster in 428 that that collided with a Halifax on the return run from a bombing mission in 1944. Both crews were lost.

With the flourescents, it all has to be done in white first , then the colors go on top of the white so for 4 different colors I take 8 different steps !

..here's the back of thew latest septic truck I did,...I'm in the middle of a new flourescent panel, a litle more complex than the last one . And another first , I lettered and striped a Bonneville car last week , but didn't quite get it finished so I'll get pics when I finish it this week .

finished up this panel a few days ago, it's done in flourescents but they don't show up well in a photo. In person they are REALLY bright !!
