Finally out on the lake, and Lead Survey

Some people may have seen that I actually got out fishing in the middle of this week, and finally got into a fish- not a carp as I was targeting but a nice 5lb 8oz tench!

It's not the greatest photo of a stunning fish, but was the best my phone would do at 4:30am! Hopefully when I get down there next week I'll get a carp, and then get a better photo with a help of someone else!

In other news, there are plenty more fish being caught around the UK- keep an on the Catch Reports page on the P4YTS website to see who has been hooking what!!

So, finally gone for the plunge.. And P4YTS now has a forum!

HERE!

The site is very new, and we are very new at running a forum so please bear with us if there are any technical difficulties!! Rob is also the only member of there at the moment so sign up and give him some company!

It is primarily a (carp) fishing forum, but anyone can sign up and if there are enough people talking about similar topics then we might make a new section just for you guys!!

The main thing (apart from enjoying the fourm) is to keep it reasonably clean please! Although there is no filter on swear words, please don't use them as it is designed to appeal to everyone.

Finally, this is only a temporary site for the forum as we are hoping to integrate it into the main P4YTS website in the future to make it easier for all of you!!

... and then it is back to the wonderfully manic world of Formula 1!!

Hands up all those of you who are excited to see what the new season has to bring.. Personally I'm hoping for a nice close season, so that it is as exciting as possible for all us fans to watch, (when we can, when it isn't just on Sky!) and considering the number of former champions we have on the grid we should all hope that it will be!

The cars all look pretty similar standards as well, but the styling is a completely different matter! Only McLaren have really managed to pull of a good-looking car, and time will tell whether the speed it there to match it...

Good luck to all the teams and drivers on the grid, we all hope that it will be an exciting (and safe) year of F1- and hopefully even the three new(est) teams can get amongst the points this year...

The Sitch Open Access

The latest news from RH Fisheries regarding their water the 'Sitch'.

"Following the success of the 'Open Access' of Weston Park and Acton Burnell, we have decided to introduce the 'Open Access' format onto the Sitch for the six weeks of the closed season next year; Mid April 2012- End May 2012.

The carp in Weston and Acton have shown huge progress since 'Open Access' was introduced a few years ago, simply due to the massive amounts of additional quality bait that they receive.

We are confident this will help these young Sitch carp maximise their potential.

Richworth Linear News- 13 March 2012

Oxlease, Hunts Corner and Gaunts Lakes be closed on Tuesday 20th April for weed control. You can start setting up on any these waters from 3pm on the 20th but must not cast out until the boat has cleared the water.

Lake Closures

Brasenose-Two will be closed from 9am Friday 23rd March until 2pm Sunday 25th March for a Royal Marines match.

Brasenose-Two, Swims 1-16 will be closed from 9am Friday 20th April until 8am Sunday 22nd April for the Linear Open Day.

St Johns, Swims 26-31 will be closed from Tuesday 24th April until Sunday 13th May for filming.

**The drinking water tap is now working again.**

Football Predictions 2-4/1/2012

And so the barmy Christmas and new years fixtures are nearly over, and next weekend is FA Cup weekend, so all the teams will be hoping to go into the league break with a win under their belts! Both Sunderland and Blackburn will also be hoping to build on their Manchester-killing from this weekend, and speaking of which they will be wishing to bounce back to winning way and gain an advantage over one-another. Spurs will be wishing for another late Christmas present with the top two teams not gaining maximum points this time and so to close the gap at the top even further.

In the Championship both top teams will be hoping to come back from their losses this weekend with Southampton away in a south-coast derby at Brighton, and West Ham at home against Coventry. Reading and Cardiff also have a playoff place battle in Wales, whilst both Leeds and Doncaster both wanting to put their 4-1 defeats in the past.

Top Shock..!

So everybody will know the big news from this weekend- Blackburn coming out victorious from New Years Eve at Old Trafford and Fergie's 70th birthday and then Sunderland's last minute 1-0 win over Manchester City. Seems odd when Steve Kean gets a call from Sir Alex in the week to wish him his support in the turmoil of managing Blackburn and then they come out with a surprise win...! This means that things are still all square and Tottenham are drawing even closer to the two Manchester clubs and still have a game in hand.

Championship leaders Southampton also suffered a shock defeat at home to struggler's Bristol City, which West Ham failed to capitalise on by also losing 2-1 away at Derby. The league was a lot more free-scoring this week which is great for the highlights reels, but not so good for those teams who have had to keep picking the ball out the net!!

As for me, I had a howler in the predictions, with only one correct score and a couple of right results but wrong scores, I'm just hoping for a better couple of days as the festive fixture madness draws to a close over the next couple of days.

Who knows what Sir 'Al' is trying to focus on through those glasses, but it may well be the big '7' '0' that are flashing above his head as of today! There are not many people who would not say that the man is a modern legend in the footballing world having lead United to TWELVE Premier League titles and countless other pieces of silverware in his time at the club. Today I'm sure he'll be wishing for a happy day at Old Trafford, and a win over struggling visitors Blackburn would be a perfect gift for the great man!

Football Predictions 30-31/12/2011 and 1/1/2012

And a New Year is nearly upon us... So that means that the loony football fixture feast is still rolling on!! Plenty on games this weekend, and hopefully plenty of goals to go with them! I'm hoping to build on the average success I had in the last round of games, and am expecting tonnes of goals in the Premier League especially from both of the Manchester clubs after City were held goalless for the first time this season, and United have bottom of the table Blackburn for company.

Also hoping to see some great scraps in The Championship as well, with many clubs wanting to make sure that they are in the precious play-off places at the start of the year.

Manchester are on top again...

So, after my first week of predictions how did I do?! Well not too shabby if I am perfectly honest! Getting up a good run in the first few fixtures in the Premier league with correct scores as well as winners, I ended the two days with THREE correct scores, THREE correct winners but different scores, and FOUR wrong scores.

The Championship on the other hand was a bit of a disaster with EIGHT incorrect scores, and FOUR correct winners but wrong scores!

The main difference about this set of fixtures was the lack of goals in the usually fruitful football league, however Manchester United made up for all the clubs in another 5-0 hammering of their opponents as they caught rivals City at the top of the table. This brings the total number of goals scored by the reds up to 16 in the four games since getting knocked out of the Champions League whereas City have only put 5 past opponents in the same time period. Tottenham are the only other team that are getting close to the scoring prowess of the two northern clubs this season as Gareth Bale again showed why he is so prized to the London club in their 2-0 win over Norwich.

The rivers are up... I'm home, and back to work!

It's most definitely getting towards winter, as the River Wye is providing- the first proper rain in a good few months has really filled it up!!

Well, as you can see from the photos of the river above, the weather hasn't exactly been great over the last week or so, but then again it hasn't been for the anywhere in the UK! If anyone saw the photo of the clouds forming over Scotland then they could have likened them to the scenes from the film 'The Day After Tomorrow'!!

I was up early when I came back on Monday, and was greeted by the sun blinding me through the window then I drew back the curtains! The photo doesn't quite do it justice, but it really was quite spectacular!!

Anyway, since I have been back I've been at work... Although I wasn't working at the cricket yesterday I popped in to see Ali and luckily just missed one of the many crazy hail showers that were flying around Bristol yesterday! The pitch was completely green about two minutes before the photo was taken and it got even whiter than this which goes to show how bonkers the British weather can be!!

Fishing has been put on hold for the holidays (not that it was really doing much before the holidays!!) but hopefully I'll have a chance to dig out the golf clubs and the camera to keep everyone entertained!
