Guess Who's Back, Back Again...

2011-03-26T11:19:00.000-07:00

So if you didn't pick up on that because you weren't ever a kid when Eminem was cool, I did in fact use his lyrics for a blog title.

Since that's out of the way now...

I've been gone for a lot longer than I should have, and I won't go into details why (it's not exciting, so don't ask), but in my absence, my Pokemon Yellow got erased. Not a big tragedy since it's just a game, but I really don't feel like going through all of that, so I'm going to pick a new game to play. Or I could just play a bunch of quick ones for a while, we'll see how I feel.

I've gotten a ton of e-mails, and I will be replying to all of your comments throughout the next couple of days, because that's just the nice thing to do.

AP, out!

Quickie - Give Up, Robot! (+ Update)

2011-03-09T19:15:00.000-08:00

Hey there! Things have gotten incredibly busy with work and school, which I predict will start to calm down by Friday. I'll be playing a couple quickies in the meantime, so hang tight - things'll be back to normal soon.

Onto the damn game already, AP, nobody cares about your schedule!

Alright, so. You're a robot who's getting told by another robot to "give up". The game starts off relatively easy, then gets progressively harder the farther into it you get. Visually, this game is pretty cool, although the colors might get on somebody's nerves after a while. Sure as hell not mine!

So how far can you get before you give up? Play it here: http://games.adultswim.com/give-up-robot-twitchy-puzzle-online-game.html

Pokemon Yellow (Day 8)

2011-03-08T13:00:00.000-08:00

Well! Now that I've re-ground out some levels and re-kicked Koga's ass, it's time to tackle Silph Co. Ran into our good friends Jesse and James (who get called Rocket, as if they were generic...), and that dickwad Gary Oak. I call this, AP's little gallery of kicking ass and taking names.

Whatchu know about weaknesses, son?!

But how? I just wrecked you.

These guys are relentless...

...and weak! Look, Pikachu's bored with their crap too.

I bet he wants to lose, too.

Huh, what a surprise.

Gyeah! Infinite items glitch? Leave a comment.

Oh yeah, AND I got a Lapras.

Now it's time for Sabrina. I wonder if she can predict her loss.

I bet if I threw a Pokeball at it, it'd teleport away and save me a couple PP.

That's right!

Me too, I just beat you with a freakin' Charizard.

You know what that means? More grinding is in my future.

Now for the Fighting Dojo. I don't give a damn if it's out of order.

Heck yeah! I want that Hitmonlee.

Ha!

Nope!

That concludes our adventure for today, Dear Reader. Food for thought: Giovanni's typically an Italian name, and the mob is stereotypically Italian. Team Rocket's a mob, and Giovanni's the boss. Hmm...

I'll try to actually do some Pokemon catching tomorrow to help fill out that Pokedex, I figured I'd do what I could to help progress along in the story, ESPECIALLY after not having saved my data yesterday. Sheesh!

Quickie - Mountain Maniac Xmas Edition!

2011-03-07T22:46:00.000-08:00

Bad news folks, I didn't save my game yesterday! So while I'm recovering lost time, here's a quickie.

What's better than destroying towns with a magical hammer that makes boulders? Not a whole lot else, it feels gratifying to let out a little rage - especially when you're dressed as Santa! Think pachinko on steroids with wacky sound effects and pixel graphics, along with combat interludes and bonus points for destroying certain objects.

I'll teach you, Yeti bastard!

Wanna see how much chaos you can cause? Check the game out here: http://games.adultswim.com/mountain-maniac-xmas-twitchy-online-game.html

Pokemon Yellow (Day 7)

2011-03-06T21:25:00.000-08:00

Hey Everybody!

Due to unforseen circumstances over the weekend, I wasn't able to get as far as I would have liked. However, this week looks like there's potential to get to the Elite Four, so exciting times are afoot! Well... depending on your idea of exciting.

I've realized something when it comes through this playthrough. Games are never the same the second time around. Don't get me wrong, Pokemon's awesome, but I remember being a kid and wanting to explore every possible aspect about this game. Hell, I even prided myself on having battled every trainer in Red, and I even thought talking to every person was an accomplishment. Now, I'm just looking to get through this game in a reasonable amount of time, but that innocent spirit of gaming is gone. In an attempt to bring back the excitement and "relaxing" aspects of Pokemon, I spent some time in the Safari Zone. I forgot how awful Safari balls are. Seriously, don't ever use them, you'd have a better chance of catching Pokemon with your bare hands. Onward we go!

Oh yeah - I got to Fuschia City!

I had to wake up Snorlax, first.

I hate to waste perfectly good Pokemon, so I caught it!

Shoutout to Rinns, 'cause she mentioned the frustrations of never having enough room.

But wait. AP, what are you doing getting an Old Rod in Vermillion? Aren't you in Fuschia now?

Dear Reader, lest you mistake me for someone who remembers the nuances of this game, I forgot the bike, and I had to go talk to the creepy head of the Pokemon Fan Club.

Oh, and apparently I really like to fish.

Hurry it up, old man, I've got a bike that needs some riding.

OF COURSE MY INVENTORY'S FULL, THAT WOULD MAKE THIS GAME TOO EASY, WOULDN'T IT?

OKAY, now we can ride our stupid bikes down stupid Bike Road. Which, I might add, is horrible to go up on.

Almost there!

No time to mess around, I've got a Soulbadge with my name on it, and you're gonna hand it over.

You brought a knife to a gun fight on this one, Koga!

That's more like it. Ninja training mah butt.

Eastward, ho! Saffron, here we come. Oh right, we need something to drink for the guards.

Hey, as long as it gets me where I want to go, help yourself.

Aaaaand here lies our next adventure, this awful building!

That's it for today, if there's anything you've taken away from it, it's this: take time to explore old games again, you owe it to yourself to get the same enjoyment out of it that you once did.

Quickie - Vegetable Game!

2011-03-05T14:13:00.000-08:00

Here's another great pixel game on Kongregate! It's called Vegetable Game, and immediately on pressing play, it explicitly warns you: don't play Vegetable Game.

From what I understand, you're a bear that defeats bad people with hugs. How this has anything to do with vegetables is beyond me, but I guess that's why we shouldn't play it?

Check it out on Kongregate: http://www.kongregate.com/games/TerryCavanagh_B/vegetable-game

How far can you get?

New Blog with a Twist!

2011-03-05T00:13:00.000-08:00

Quick update for you guys! I started another blog so that I wouldn't have to crowd this one.

But, what's it about?

Well, Dear Reader, it's about the petty things in life, and why they piss me off. I've noticed that we have a lot of serious blogs floating around because they deal with topics that actually matter. This is more or less intended for the sole purpose of inducing a few smiles, as well as letting out some unnecessary ~~rage~~ ~~anger~~ ~~hatred~~ feelings.

Check it out here: http://irritatingthings.blogspot.com/

Let me know if you get a laugh or two!

P.S. Big Pokemon update coming tomorrow (technically today), as well as a new quickie! See you around!

Pokemon Yellow (Day 6)

2011-03-02T16:08:00.000-08:00

So it looks like I forgot ANOTHER thing about Pokemon in regards to how things progress. It's Celadon first, THEN Lavender. Ah well, at least I was able to get some more training done. Guess who I saw in the Pokemon Tower?

Thaaaat's right. I took the liberty in beating him, 'cause I'm already tired of him.

And this is why we need to go to Celadon first, lest we run into the generic ghosts...

...that you can't even catch! Argh!

On the way to Celadon via underground tunnel.

Alright! We made it, now let's go waste all our money.

If it weren't for this guy, I wouldn't have questioned the Rocket guy standing in front of the poster in the Game Corner. Honestly.

No kidding.

Oh look, it's ~~these clowns~~ our friends!

We even paid a visit to Giovanni, he wasn't too thrilled to see us though.

Oh, and I beat her too.

Can't forget Eevee! It's kinda weird that you're supposed to take it without asking first...

Can't forget Fly! Probably one of the biggest time savers in the game.

Gotta put Marowak's soul to rest, too bad it dodges Pokeballs.

So close to the Poke Flute, only to discover that Team Rocket's back.

At last, the Poke Flute!

The Team Rocket thing got annoying quick, but it wasn't near anywhere as bad as the Zubat problem I encountered the other day. Lavender Town is such a depressing place, which is why I hate being there for any amount of time. Thankfully, it's a quick area to get through.

Tomorrow we get to deal with Sabrina, hopefully without much in the way of distractions. See you then!

Quickie - Hot Throttle!

2011-03-02T10:46:00.000-08:00

Back again with another pixelated quickie, but this is no game. No sir, definitely not a game, as it better falls under the category of nightmare fuel. Don't know what I'm talking about? Here's a screencap of the splash screen:

This... I really don't know what to say. It's like... Aw hell, you're an insanely sweaty pink guy (sweat not pictured) who thinks he's a car, and you have to race these other cars. Play it here if you dare: http://games.adultswim.com/hot-throttle-twitchy-online-game.html

Alright, I don't even care about your score this time around, but I would like to know if you're able to sleep later.

New Blog!

2011-03-02T09:47:00.000-08:00

I've gotten quite a few e-mails lately asking me what kind of music I listen to. Instead of replying with a massive list of names, why not make a blog about it?

Check it out here: http://whatsinmyplaylist.blogspot.com/

Pokemon Yellow (Day 5)

2011-03-02T00:35:00.000-08:00

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who's been following along. I'm thrilled at how many of you have been joining me for the ride through old and newer games alike. Maybe a YouTube channel for Let's Plays is in my future?

Second... I hate how many dead ends there are in caves, especially when you're out of repels!

You know what sucks even more? Having to backtrack because you forgot to pick up HM05.

That's right folks, I forgot about Rock Tunnel. Clearly it's been way too long since I've played this. You know what else I forgot?

Bulbasaur! Damn! Spent a little time training it into an Ivysaur just so it wouldn't feel left behind. Here's my current team as well:

Oh, and you know what else I forgot? Road's closed. Always. Crap.

Alright, so I've lost my touch over the years, but I will say this: Yellow is just as fun as I remember it, stupid dead ends and all. Tomorrow (later today, technically) I'll make my rounds in Lavender Town, then I'll be headed over to Celadon's gym so I can raise my level cap again.

Quickie - Pipedreamz!

2011-02-28T21:32:00.000-08:00

Here's an interesting game you can waste some time on: Pipedreamz! It appears to be a game about an individual who's only goals are to successfully flip burgers, eat mass quantities of meat, and surf. In a strange way, this game almost makes sense... Almost.

Check it out here: http://games.adultswim.com/pipedreamz-puzzle-classic-online-game.html

How high can you score?

Pokemon Yellow (Day 4)

2011-02-28T18:17:00.000-08:00

Hey Everybody!

I took the day off on Sunday to catch up on some sleep, but we're back and in full swing. I've been grinding like a madman to keep my team as near as possible to the level 30 limit that the Cascade Badge gave me. Good news though! I've gone ahead and defeated Lt. Surge with this Diglett (now Dugtrio) I found. It was a disappointing battle, to say the least, as the super effectiveness of Dig on Raichu was a one-hit kill.

Alright! Welcome to Vermillion City! Too bad we don't have Cut yet.

If memory serves, we should be able to find HM01 amongst other things on the S.S. Anne...

Well, I was partially right. We found this asshole!

After demolishing Gary and rubbing the captain's back, we can wave the ship goodbye.

Back to the Gym we go, only to find that Surge has just one Pokemon to fight us with.

Here's my current team:

And last but not least, here's my current Pokedex standing:

Went back for some more grinding to get Squirtle into a Wartortle, and just as a general way to get everyone's level up to par. Tomorrow we'll find out what Celadon has in store for us.

Pokemon Yellow (Day 3)

2011-02-26T17:19:00.000-08:00

Alright! So a little progress was made today. Made it from Pewter to Cerulean in no time, but now I remember why I hate going in caves. Zubats. Everywhere. It was funny at first, but smiles quickly turned to frowns every three steps. I took advantage of the opportunity and ground out some experience points for my party. I try to make sure I have my team as evenly leveled as possible, since it'll make important battles a bit easier.

This gets old, very fast.

Found a Clefairy though, so that was pretty cool. I still hate Mt. Moon.

Here's where I'm currently at, this'll be fun to get through.

So far on my Pokemon Yellow adventure, I'm two badges in and my team is assembling quite nicely. I'm thinking that I should try to fill up my Pokedex as much as possible, but maybe do that after I beat the Elite Four? What do you think I should do?

It's Saturday!

2011-02-26T10:20:00.000-08:00

Hey Everybody,

Unexpectedly busy weekend on the horizon, but I'll do my best to keep bringing you the games!

Pokemon Yellow (Day 2)

2011-02-24T17:14:00.000-08:00

After what seemed like forever to grind everyone up to the same level bracket (10+), I've finally gotten my Boulder Badge! Shout out to Nidoran for making it almost too easy with Double Kick, I forgot that Fighting-type attacks are super effective against Rock Pokemon.

Here's my current team:

Current Pokedex standing:

Depending on how busy I am tonight, I may or may not be able to get to Cerulean.

Quickie - Don't Sh*t Your Pants!

2011-02-24T11:29:00.000-08:00

Here's a quick game to play if you've got some down time, and hey - it's pixely! It's called "Don't Shit Your Pants". Check it out on Kongregate!

See if you can get all the achievements!

Pokemon Yellow (Day 1)

2011-02-23T16:25:00.000-08:00

Hey Everybody!

I wasn't sure what I should kick this blog off with, so I figured a classic would be a good place...

I'll be starting off with Pokemon Yellow on the Gameboy Color, but since this is kind of a long game, I might trail off and play some shorter games in the meantime to keep people interested. What works best for you?
