Beginning on October 22, 2026 and continuing in a phased approach, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Palo Trattoria will transition away from the Prix-Fixe dinner menu to a selection of our guests’ favorite items. The prix-fixe dinner menu transition away on the following schedule:

· Oct. 22: Disney Wonder

· Oct. 23: Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, Disney Wish

· Oct. 24: Disney Magic, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny

· Oct. 26: Disney Adventure

With this change, Platinum and Pearl Castaway Club Members and their guests staying in the same stateroom can continue to use their $55 USD per person credit toward a broad range of a la carte dinner menu offerings. This exclusive benefit is limited to DINNER ONLY. As a reminder, brunch is not included in this offer. Guests are responsible for beverage charges, gratuities, and any amount exceeding the credit. Why are they doing this?

Simple:

Castaway Club members have learned that Brunch is a better deal than Dinner.
People like Brunch so they don't miss the Main Dining Room at night. This leads to more people having brunch than dinner.
Dropping the Prix-Fixe dinner menu will make it cost more so DCL makes more money. Upper Castaway Club Members still get a $55 credit towards it.

I'm not a fan of Italian food but I LOVE the experience. Is it worth $55 for the experience? YES! Is it worth giving up a Main Dining Restaurant? Not in my opinion.

Let’s talk about what everybody has been waiting to hear. The Maiden Voyage will be December 18^th, 2027. Believe will sail out of Fort Lauderdale on 4/5-Night sailings. The length of the Maiden Voyage has not been announced as of yet. It will go to both Lookout Cay and Castaway Kay.

The Disney Believe’s first gigablock floated out of the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Mid-September, and progress on Disney Cruise Line’s next ship hasn’t slowed down! Construction on the second gigablock is now underway, and the ship has reached yet another milestone – the keel laying ceremony.

The longstanding maritime custom dates all the way back to ancient Greece and Rome, and it involves a specially crafted coin that is ceremoniously placed, temporarily, under the ship’s keel.

Did you know? A keel is the structural center beneath the ship that runs all the way from the bow to the stern.

The tradition is said to bestow good fortune to the ship and its future crew before setting sail. What makes this ceremony extra magical is the custom minted coin depicting a portrait of Tinker Bell, a mirror or the artwork that will soon grace the bow of the Disney Believe.

Tinker Bell’s image is bound to imbue the ship with a sprinkle of faith, trust and pixie dust, helping future guests believe in the promise and possibility of their dreams coming true.

We have known for a few weeks that the Grand Reveal of the Disney Believe will happen on October 7^th, 2026. It will take place on the Disney Wish. We finally have an actual time!!!

What we know about the Believe so far:

1. Tinker Bell is on the bow of the Believe

2. Woodie and Buzz are on the stern of the Believe

3. Moana and her pal Pua will be the Grand Hall statue.

4. We can assume 2 of the 3 Main Dining restaurants will be the same, 1923 and World of Marvel.

5. We can assume that Seas the Adventure will be one of the 3 live stage shows

a. This show is on all the other Wish-Class ships

6. Believe will join the fleet at the end of 2027

a. My guess is late October to end November but it could be as late as December

What we don’t know and can expect and hope to have announced on October 7^th:

1. Maiden Voyage Date

2. Maiden Voyage and Early Inaugural Season Itineraries release date for booking

3. 3^rd Main Dining Restaurant theme

a. It will be a musical based on a Disney/Pixar movie with lots of music, lots of options

a. If the show is only on one other ship it may be brought to Believe

What is current construction status of the Believe at right now.

1. The Midship Giga Block is complete and sitting outside of Myer Werft Shipyard

a. This includes the Grand Hall, 1923, some of the shops and any venue in that area

b. This area is not completed as of yet

i. Hull and basic interior Construction is done

ii. Internal work like painting, wall coverings, carpet, lighting, artwork, decor, and furniture is not in as of yet

iii. Decks with cabins have the cabins and they are fully completed with paint, carpet, furniture, and artwork

iv. The majority of the finishing work will be done after “Sea Trials” when the ship is officially turned over to DCL

v. After Sea Trials the ship will dock and Disney will start to add their final touches to the ship while Meyer Werft finishes up the last bits

vi. The things Disney itself will do are things that are highly tied to intellectual property and must be done by Disney and nobody else

vii. Some of the finishing work will be done while they sail across the Atlantic

2. They are working on the next Gigablock

3. While the hull construction continues and public areas are being constructed at Meyer Werft the Cabins are being constructed at an offsite facility

4. Fully constructed cabins will be added to the hull as it is being built

Cabins are built offsite and shipped to the shipyard fully ready have been painted, carpeted, furnished, and artwork hung

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Believe, is taking shape at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany! Earlier today, the first of three gigablocks was completed and floated out of the shipyard, marking an important step in the construction process for the 2027-expected ship.

In case you’re wondering what a Gigablock is, you can think of building a cruise ship like putting together a giant 3D puzzle. Instead of building the whole thing in one piece, shipbuilders construct the vessel in large sections – gigablocks – complete with walls, plumbing, and wiring. Once the sections, which can weigh over 31,000 tons, are finished, they’re welded together like puzzle pieces to complete the ship.

The first section contains the midship of the Disney Believe, which is home to some familiar places like the Grand Hall. The next gigablock to be constructed will be the forward portion, followed by the aft.

Fall 2027 to Spring 2028 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries are OUT

DCL released the September 2027 to May 2028 Itineraries 2 days ago!! When you can book is based on your Castaway Club Status.

Pearl – August 31^st

Platinum - September 1^st

Gold – September 2^nd

Silver – September 3^rd

Eligible DVC and Adventure Insiders – September 3^rd

General Public – September 8^th

Here is why you should book as close to the release date for your status as you can. As the cabins are booked the prices will go up. The closer to the actual 1^st date you can book the better. It is a10% of the voyage fare deposit to hold the cabin at that price. If you need to cancel for any reason, you will get a 100% refund from DCL as long as it is cancelled before the Pay In Full date. If you book insurance the premium payment is nonrefundable.

I’ve not posted before this because I’ve been looking at the itineraries and trying to figure things out. Some things are just not adding up with information I know that is confirmed by DCL and ports.

Lets start of with the timeframe of the Fall 2027 to May 2028 itineraries. The itineraries start for most ships in September of 2027. Disney Treasure does not start until October 2027. Treasure’s September itineraries were released with the last set of itineraries. For most ships of the DCL Fleet the Fall 27 to Spring 27 itineraries end in early to mid May. Magic and Wonder have their last shown cruises in the last 2 weeks of April 2028. These two cruises end in Vancouver, Canada and are repositioning cruises so the ships can go to Alaska for the summer. Dream also ends its listed sailings in late April The rest are in early May from May 5^th to May 19^th.

Historically the ship who has the itinerary ends in mid/end of April is the ship that goes to Europe. This would tell me that Dream is heading to Europe again. Magic and Wonder end in April as well but are not positioned to go to Europe in the allotted time and they are contractually required to be on the West Coast of the USA, specifically one sailing out of San Diego at all times and 2 from September to May starting in 2027.

The contracts Disney has with San Diego and Catalina Island in California require 2 ships be in California September to May and 1 ship in California May to September. Again, this contract starts mid-September 2027. There is also the fact that as of today the Port of San Diego can only accept ships that carry 3,000 guests or less. That is the reason Magic and Wonder are specifically named in the contract. They carry between 2,400 to 2,700 guests. The new class of ships, with the first 2 joining the fleet in 2029 and a 3^rd in 2030 carry 3,000. Why is this important?? Disney Cruise Line Dream and Wish class ships carry 4,000 guests. What ship will be in San Diego May to September of 2028??

I know there are plans to expand the Port of San Diego. I’m trying to find out if enough of the expansion will be done so the port and accept a larger ship by May 2028. I’ve reached out to the Port of San Diego Press team but have not gotten a response as of yet.

Dream could come to San Diego with a 2-week Panama Canal trip. She would get here early May 2028. Historically the end time of her itineraries is more like the ships going to Europe. The ship does not need to be in San Diego until mid-May. Wish itineraries end May 8. She could be in California by the 21^st of May. Treasure has schedules ending May 6^th. Treasure could be at San Diego by May 19^th. That is closer to mid-May. Destiny’s schedules end May 5^th. This makes Destiny the ship with the closest date to mid-May, May 18^th. Fantasy is off the list because her itineraries are listed until May 19^th. She would not get to San Diego until June.

Just a quick recap of what I think will happen at the end of the new itineraries. Magic and Wonder are doing the Summer of 28 in Alaska. You can tell by their ending location being Vancouver, Canada. Dream will most likely will go to Europe for the summer. Fantasy will stay where she is in Florida. The Wish-Class ships are the wild cards. I am going to assume one will go to California and one will go to Texas. The third will stay in Florida.

The next ship that joins the fleet, Disney Believe will be officially added to the fleet sometime between September and December 2027. Disney has not released the date of the Maiden Voyage yet and it will most likely announce it October 7^th, 2026, during the grand reveal livestream. Once the dates are released they will set up a schedule for release with Castaway Club Members being allowed their early booking windows. I’m hoping it is in October or November of 2027 but not Thanksgiving or Christmas weeks.

Your Pranking Pixies Thoughts On D23 Expo DCL 2029 Release of 3 New Ships

Consider this as speculation/observation and unless stated as already announced by DCL realize it is my opinion.

As stated during the 2026 D23 Expo and before there are going to be three ships joining the Disney fleet in 2029. Two of the ships will be of a new class of ships. They will be the 5^th class of ship built for Disney. They will be slightly larger than the Magic
-Class and 20% smaller than the Dream-Class ships. Magic-Class ships carry between 2,400 and 2,700 guests. The Dream-Class ships carry 4,000 guests. The 5^th-Class of ships will carry 3,000 guests. The size of the ships does matter. There are many ports that are not equipped to handle a ship with more than 3,000 guests. The Port of San Diego, Ca is a good example of this.

Knowing the size of the ships and the fact that DCL, San Diego & Avalon, Catalina Island have agreed to year-round homeport (San Diego) and visits with preferred mooring (Avalon, Catalina Island) we have a good idea of the need for these ships. These agreements start Mid-September 2027. This will require two ships in California Mid-September to Mid-May. And one ship in California Mid-May to Mid-September until the contract ends. Interesting side note here is the contract with San Diego expires in 2031. Maybe DCL is considering moving their ships to the Port of Los Angeles or Long Beach for a new home port at that time? Only time will tell. That move would enable the larger ships to come to California.

Mid-May to Mid-September 2028 is a huge question mark. With the Port of San Diego limited on the size of a ship DCL can’t bring a Dream or Wish-Class ship there. DCL will have to make other arrangements while still maintaining the contracts. They could bring a Dream or Wish-Class through the Panama Canal and make a stop at either the Port of LA or Long Beach. Then the ship could continue to Vancouver Canada and do Alaskan cruises with one of the Magic-Class ships. One of the Magic-Class ships would stay at San Diego to fulfill the contract there for year-round usage of the port. They would reverse this process at the end of the Alaskan season with the larger ship stopping at Port of LA or Long Beach not San Diego before going back to the East Coast.

If the first of the 5^th-Class of ships joined the fleet in April or early May 2029 that ship could do the Panama Canal and go the San Diego for the summer season. It could either stay in San Diego while the two Magic-Class ships go to Alaska, or it could go to Alaska with one of the Magic-Class ships while the second Magic-Class ship stayed in San Diego. Either way works. At the end of the summer the ship would do an East Bound Panama Canal cruise to go back to the East Coast.

The Wish-Class ship scheduled for the OLC, the company that owns and operates Tokyo Disneyland is scheduled to be completed in late 2028 OLC is scheduled to get their ship “early 2029”. This ship may come out before the first of the 5^th-Class ship or shortly after. This ship will go straight to Tokyo, Japan where she will carry the Japanese flag and do 2 and 4-Nights at sea cruises out of Tokyo. It could also go into service between the two 5^th class of ships scheduled for that year.

The second 5^th-Class ship will come out later in the year. Where exactly she will go I have no idea. DCL said at D23 that the 5^th-Class of ships will allow them to go to new people and places. What exactly that means I don’t know. Ships of this size have a lot more ports they can visit. Older ports were not designed for the massive mega cruise ships. The infrastructure cannot handle the number of guests and sometimes the port itself is not large or strong enough to handle a larger ship. In the recent years some of the megs ships have caused damaged to ports due to size and weather.

Sad reality check. Magic turns 30 in 2028, and Wonder turns 30 in 2029. This is important to note as 30 years is the active life expectancy of a cruise ship. After this point the ship can cost more to run and maintain than it makes and becomes a liability. The way ships are built it is hard to do major upgrades on technology that is installed when it was built. You are limited on how far you can upgrade. It also starts to smell inside. Disney does a great job of maintaining these ships and I believe they can stay in service longer than 30 years. I don’t think they will retire until the mid-2030’s at the earliest. I believe that at least two of the 5^th-class of ships will be “replacing” the Magic and Wonder. That is why I was surprised the announcement at D23 did not include an order for more ships. I honestly do expect to hear they are ordering more ships in the near future.

On a side note, they did show some concept art for the new 5^th-class of ships but did not give any more information. These pictures have caused speculation among fans and bloggers/vloggers. It appears that the ship may have a 3 story high glass window where the Grand Hall/Atrium Lobby is located. There is also speculation that a full promenade deck will return with these ships. It is hard to tell from the pictures alone. I can see the glass where normally there was walls and “missing” lifeboats where the window is. Remember, this is just “concept art” and not an actual depiction of what the ships will look like. The picture that shows the full ship is purposely low resolution. The second picture is a lot clear and you can see more detail.

During “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” at D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, Neil Patric Harris brought a few special guests out to tell us about the new sights coming to Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“Welcome to Monstropolis,” written by Disney Legend, Randy Newman, is the first song that Randy has composed for a Disney theme park, and you’ll hear it next year when Monstropolis opens to humans.

That’s right, while work continues on the door coaster, parts of Monstropolis will be open to guests in 2027. Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative, and Cris Beatty, Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering, were played onto the stage to talk about the dynamic moments and locations you’d expect to see in Monstropolis.

Glob Theater

Chris explained that humas are invited to attend a new show at the Glob Theater, titled “Welcome to Monstropolis,” just like Randy Newman’s new song.

Chris also revealed that the monsters in the show will introduce humans to Monstropolis, and highlight how similar monsters and humans really are.

“Mike and Sulley will be our hosts,” Chris said. “Sulley has been working on a small, homespun show, but Mike – ever the showman – has a few surprises up his sleve that he thinks will bring down the house. Hopefully and literally.”

Watch his many tentacles whip up delicious-looking Monster-worthy creations, but don’t worry, there’s more than just sushi on the menu.

Discovering Monstropolis at Walt Disney World

Monstropolis is starting to take shape as construction continues at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort! Steel rides behind the walls, new details emerge almost daily, and with every milestone, the world of Disney and Pixar’s Monster, Inc. is roaring to life. Through a creative collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios, guests will finally be able to take in all the monstrous sights, tastes, and sounds of Sulley and Mike’s world.

But this isn’t just a new land taking shape it’s the beginning of a new story.

Monstropolis – the monster city now powered by laughter – is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from the world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … the city’s official newspaper, monsters are talking about a “historic decision” that’s about to seriously mix things up for monster kind.

A Laugh That Changed It All

For generations, Monstropolis ran on fear, and not just because the monsters used screams to power their society; monsters were scared of us, too! Humans were seen as dangerous, toxic, and completely off limits. I mean, who could forget the decontamination protocols for a 2319!

When James P. Sullivan and Mark Wazowski (you know, with one eye) discovered that human laughter generates far more power than screams, it didn’t just transform the energy crisis, it transformed Monstropolis itself. Fear gave way to curiosity. Caution gave way to connection. And for the first time, the doors separating the monster world from ours no longer felt like barriers.

What started as breakthrough inside Monsters, Inc. quickly became something much bigger: a citywide shift in how monsters viewed humans. Scales felt from their eyes – well at least for the monsters with scales to shed.

Enter: The Department of Human Relations

As Monstropolis evolved, so did its connection with the human world. You may hve heard of the HR department, but you haven’t heard of this HR department – the Department of Human Relations. This new team established by the city has been tasked with sinking their teeth – and in some cases, their very BIG teeth – into helping monsters better understand humans into Monstropolis for the very first time. And that invitation has a name.

H.U.M.A.N. Day: A Celebration with a Purpose

H.U.M.A.N. Day, short for “Humans Understanding Monsters Are Nice,” marks a historic milestone for the city. Part celebration, part cultural exchange, the event is designed to introduce humans to life inside Monstropolis while helping monsters discover that humans are not so frightening after all. Now that’s something to smarl – ahem, smile about!

Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaley, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams but by laughter.

Exploring the Streets of Monstropolis

As more of Monstropolis comes into view, one thing is clear: move over, cities of the human world! Monstropolis is going to be the next big vacation destination!

Storefronts line the streets, industries hum alongside every life, and every corner reflects the quirky, character filled world fans fell in love with. New details have been revealed about the high-octane attractions and spectacular scenery coming to Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom!

Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along

Making its public debut, the second attraction coming to Piston Peak was announced: Miss Fritter’s Spin-Along.

Inspired by the “Diva of Demolition” from Cars 3, the ride will feature Miss Fritter as a School-bus-Sized animatronic who hosts a stampeding bash at her “wildest demolition derby yet.”

Cars Ridge Run Rally

Further details were also revealed around the Piston Peak’s previously announced racing attraction. On Cars Ridge Rally, racers will travel through the rugged beauty of America’s national parks, including a climb up Piston Peak itself, where an icy, snow-covered mountaintop awaits.

After reaching the top, racers will plummet down for a camelback descent and later navigate an exhilarating geyser field. The race ends by circling the Old Tankful geyser before a sprint to the finish line where Lightning McQueen and Mater are covering the race live on Racing Sports Network.

Revolutionary Ride Technology and Construction

Cars Ridge Run Rally will debut a completely new ride vehicle, designed not to simulate an off-road car, but to be one. The attraction design is unlike the typical theme park system, and guests will “feel every bump, drop, and rock because the vehicle’s tires and suspension are truly driving over a reacting to them.”

Piston Peak National Park Builds on the Story of Frontierland

Cars from around the country are fueling up to be the wildest racer in the “wheelderness.” Of course, we know that fans are curious to see how the exciting new backdrop for the big rally race will fit into the waters, landscapes, and storytelling at Magic Kingdom. What is the Storyline of Villains Land?

References from classic characters from Walt Disney animation Studios will inspire Villains Land, while the overarching story is a brand new, original take on those iconic villains. The Magic kingdom invites you into a fairytale and Villains Land is no exception…

In many fairytales, the real journey begins when you stray from the safe path and instead turn towards the vast, foreboding forest. If you dare enter the forest of Villains Land, you may soon come across a Wishing Well that’s been torn asunder. Under most circumstances, a Wishing Well would indicate pure and good energy at work, but something dark happened to this one. Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke oopen the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic through the forest.

This sinister setting is tempting for those with wicked intentions, so, one by one, the villains have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power. Villains Land will be shaped by those who have used the dark magic to conjure the perfect new lairs for themselves. Villains Land will have two major attractions, in addition to shops and restaurants.

The first is an exhilarating coaster experience, where guests will come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. Guests will race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress – if you’re feeling brave enough to answer her invitation. This coaster will include elements they’ve never attempted before on similar attractions, so it is set to be a truly groundbreaking project.

Some information is not exactly new as it has been out for a while or could be seen from ship itineraries at the end of posted itineraries.

Things Already known:

It was reiterated, there will be 13 ships in the Disney Fleet by 2030, 1 year earlier than originally expected!
DCL will double its ships in California sailing out of San Diego.
Wish will go to Europe for the first time for the Summer of 2027.
Magic and Wonder will go to Alaska, Summer of 2027.
They will double the number of ships sailing out of San Diego, California.
They announced the new class of ships that will start joining the fleet in 2029.

2 in 2029 and 1 in 2030.
The new ships will allow DCL to go to new ports.

I believe that tomorrow they may announce the theme of the 3^rd Main dining Restaurant and maybe Maiden Voyage Date. Honestly, I believe the Maiden Voyage Date, Homeport and general itineraries will be given during the Grand Revel, October 7^th. I don’t think much more will be said about Believe.

I think tomorrow they may announce more ships ordered, but I could be wrong. I will follow up tomorrow.

What is the Expected Lifespan of a Cruise Ship?

To be honest the expected lifespan of a cruise ship is 30 years. What happens next is up to the cruise line that owns it. Disney Magic will turn 30 in 2028 and Disney Wonder shortly thereafter in 2029. What is going to happen to them? Honestly, we don’t know. When will the ships retire? Again, we just don’t know.

Here are the options:

Many cruise lines are sold off to a lower quality cruise line. They go to an extended dry dock for a complete inspection and the ship is completely reworked. They are cleaned up, renamed and rechristened.
Scrap the ship for whatever you can get for the parts and components.
They may sink the ship to make a new coral reef.
There is a 4^th option that cruise lines have not availed themselves of but there are rumors about Disney doing it. None of these rumors are from a source who can verify this. I have heard enough to know Disney has heard about this idea and is possibly considering it. The 4^th option is to turn it into a seaside hotel docked somewhere.

Lets go back to when will they retire. I personally believe Disney will keep the ships sailing as long as possible. They will balance the cost of maintenance, standard operating expenses against the money earned continuing to use the ships. If they see if it is worth keeping them going rather than retiring them they will. Just because they can keep them going does not make it financially wise.

I strongly believe Disney is already looking at the ships last and maybe next standard, legally required, drydock/maintenance reports to make the decision. These drydock checks happen every 5 years. Magic had her last one May of this year. She will not be due for another drydock until 2031. So, I believe we will know about Magic’s fate around that time. They may already know it is time to retire her. That could be why the construction timeline of new ships was sped up. Disney Wonder had her last drydock in 2024. Wonder will be due for her next drydock until 2029. We will know then if she will retire or not.

If both ships pass inspection and dealing with maintenance and desired upgrades is not too expensive DCL may keep them running until the next Drydock inspection. I believe as long as they pass inspection they will keep them running. I can see Magic sailing until 2031 or 2036 and Wonder continuing her travels until 2034 or maybe longer. We will have to see.

I’ll be honest I’d love to see the two sisters eventually retired and turned into seaside hotels. Host them like a cruise ship. You can check in or out on a schedule like the ships normal Itinerary. Check in on Fri and check out Monday. Check in on Monday and out on Friday. Have the shows in the theater like you do at sea. Deck Parties, all ship board entertainment as normal. The Kids Clubs would be open and Rotational Dining would be served. They could even offer Port Adventures to local places. You can stay on the ship or go explore during the day. Totally up to the guest.

Having them as a hotel would allow people to experience the fun of a Disney Cruise without sailing. This would be good for people who are afraid of sailing. It would be great for those with medical conditions that do not allow for sailing away from shore. It would be wonderful for those who get seasick! Everyone could experience what a Disney Cruise is like, or at least get a sample.

What Do We Know About Disney Cruise Line West Coast and Alaska Expansion?

There are people saying that DCL is not planning on continuing past 2031 or so sailing out of San Diego or the West Coast. Information I read shows DCL is committed until at least 2040 to sailing out of the West Coast and to Alaska.

Here is what we know for sure:

·       2025 DCL signed a contract with Avalon, Catalina Island, Ca for preferred portage that will include 2 stops at Catalina Island each week min-September to mid-May and 1 stop per week mid-May to mid-September. This starts mid-September 2027. The original contract expires in 2030 but can be extended with 2 five-year renewals until 2040. Magic and Wonder are specifically named but there is a clause for a unnamed ship(s) to be added. This shows a strong commitment to the West Coast, Baja and Southern California sailings.
·       2026 DCL signed a contract with the Port of San Diego, Ca to have up to 2 ships calling San Diego home port. This contract will expire in 2031 and has no stipulation for extension but that does not mean it could not be extended. This shows at least a limited commitment to San Diego that could be extended.
·       2026 DCL and Icey Straight, Alaska announced a contract had been signed that gave DCL preferred portage there once per week. This contract expires in 2040. This shows long term commitment to Alaska.

What does this mean for 2028 and beyond?

· 2027 & 2028 DCL will have Magic and Wonder do mid-September to mid-May, Mexico 3, 4, 5, & 7-Night cruises with stops at Catalina Island.
· Summer 2028 is a question mark. This season is completely up for speculation. New Itineraries coming out soon may give some answers. For the past several years DCL has had both Magic and Wonder in Alaska. Mid-May to Mid-September we do know 1 ship MUST stay in San Diego. It will have to be Magic or Wonder. I am assuming it to be Magic due to the fact Wonder was retrofitted back in 2011 to make her more comfortable for guests in Alaska. They could bring a 3^rd ship from the East Coast and take it to Alaska, but it cannot port at San Diego. San Diego has a limit of 3,000 guests per cruise ship. It cannot handle a ship with 4,000+ guests unless it is an emergency. At this time, only Magic and Wonder are currently under 3,000 guests. They carry 2,400-2,600 depending on what source you look at.

With this information about San Diego limits on ship size, I see a couple options for 2029:

· Only one ship goes to Alaska while the other stays in San Diego. I will assume Magic will stay in San Diego.
· They bring a 3^rd ship from the East Coast through the Panama Canale and stop at Port of Los Angeles or Long Beach and sail from there to Alaska. They may or may not do a couple cruises out of the Port of Los Angeles or Long Beach while there. This could be either a Dream or Wish-Class ship. Magic would stay in San Diego and Wonder will go to Alaska. This would allow them to maintain 2 ships in Alaska and still have one in San Diego.

What could happen beyond 2029?

· 2029 the first 2 of the 5^th-Midsize-Class of ship will join the Disney fleet. I am assuming the first will be added before mid-May of 2029. I’m guessing this because there are 2 ships of the same class being released in 2029. The new ship can dock in San Diego or even go to Alaska. That means it is a toss up who stays in San Diego.
· 2030/31 may be a sad year for us DCL fans, especially those of us who love the Classic Ships, Magic and Wonder. A Cruise Ships expected lifespan is 30 years. Magic turns 30 in 2028 and Wonder in 2029. It is possible they will retire these ships from the fleet. To be honest I think Disney can keep them going until mid 2030’s. If they do retire then I think 2 of the newest ships being released in 2029 will take their place here in California with the 3^rd being here in the summer months. I’ll share more on this is another post.
· 2031 may have some new things happening. If DCL does not renew the contract with San Diego they may move the ships to the Port of Los Angeles, Port of Long Beach or even the Port of San Francisco. I’m opting for LA or Long Beach more than San Francisco. If they do this then any ship of the Disney Fleet can be here in California.
· If my thoughts are right the West Coast Disney Cruise Fans will have BRAND new ships to sail!! West Coast may also have it’s first Christening and Maiden Voyage when the newest ships arrive. Only time will tell!! Maybe D23 will give us more information.

Disney Cruise Line Changed the Construction Schedule!!

I have seen this all over the internet but I would not post until I saw confirmation from a reliable Disney related source. I will state clearly what is my opinion and speculation.

If you have been keeping up with the Disney Cruise Line Fleet you know the fleet is expanding and a crazy rate!! Between 2027 and 2031 there was to be a ship a year delivered. By 2031 there was to be 13 ships in the Disney Fleet. That has changed!!! I will first share the original schedule and then the change along with what I think it may possibly mean. Between all the expansion and the addition of Galveston Tx, and San Diego, Ca as new year-round homeports things are going to be exciting for DCL!

First off let me tell you what was to happen. Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure joined the fleet at the end of 2025. This brought the fleet to 8 ships. What was next?

2027 – Sometime towards the end of 2027, October to December, Disney Believe the 4^th Disney Wish-Class ship will join the fleet.
2028/29 – A 5^th Wish-Class ship was to join the fleet. This ship is being built for the Orenthal Land Company that owns and operates Tokyo Disneyland. It will be homeported in Tokyo, Japan.
2029 – The first of a new unnamed class of ship was to be released. This will be the first in the 5^th-Class of ships in the Disney Fleet. We know it will be larger than the classic ships, Magic and Wonder and 20% smaller than the Dream-Class ships. It will hold approximately 3,000 guests. That is 400-600 more than the Classic-Class and 1,000 guests less than the Dream-Class ships.
2030 – The second of the new class of ships was to be released.
2031 – the third and final of the new class of ships was to be delivered.

This is what has changed:

2027 - Disney Believe will join the fleet at the end of the year, between October and December.
2028 will have no new ship released.
2029, I believe this is order of the three ships joining the fleet that year!

First of the 5^th-Class of ships. (Early 2029, January-February)
5^th and final Wish-Class ship for Japan. (More may be ordered later if OLC finds it lucrative. I believe it will also be delivered early 2029)
Second of the 5^th-Class of ships. I think it will be delivered near the end of 2029.)

2030 – the Third and final 5^th-Class of ships will be delivered. This ship is hard to pin down a time for delivery. We will need to wait until we see the construction start date.

Why did Disney change the schedule? Here is my speculation. During the 3^rd QC earnings call Disney said things are being moved up because the Cruise Line is very profitable, even with the costs of building all of these ships. I believe more ships will be orders because the more ships the more money they will make.

These are my thoughts and opinions! Nothing is fact here. What does this mean for the future of DCL? I honestly believe that the order of even more ships will be announced! I believe this and more information about the Disney Believe ship that is currently under construction will be made during the D23 Expo this month. Yes, I will be following and sharing the news and my thoughts about it.

This is complete speculation! Disney Cruise Line truly has a global reach. They have been in Europe, South Pacific, Singapore and all three coasts of the USA. (East, West and even Gulf Coasts have had Disney cruises.) The possibilities are endless!! More West Coast cruises? For sure!! That is in the works but even more could happen! More cruises in the Gulf Coast? That is the plan already but more could happen! Florida having more Disney Ships? It is possible for sure! That is their major location! Maybe sending a second ship to Europe for the summers? May happen! Head back to Austrillia? Austrillia LOVES their Disney Cruises and misses having the Disney Wonder there! I would not count it out. We will just have to wait and see where DCL goes from here!

What do you need to take in your Carry-On bags for a Disney Cruise?

What do you need to take in your Carry-On bags for a Disney Cruise?

Understand that Carry-On bags need to stay with you until your cabin is available. They will sit in the dining room with you while you eat lunch and be dragged around while you look around the ship. Your Cabin will not be available until sometime between 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm, maybe even later. Why even bother with Carry-On bags? Just carry your ID/Citizenship docs and paperwork. That is all you need to carry on. The rest will be delivered to your cabin so why fuss. Remember checked suitcases will start arriving at the cabins around 2:30 but may not even show up until the next morning. Because of that I suggest making sure you have everything you need until morning. This way if the bags don’t show up you are not stuck without your necessary items. You have clothes to change into for dinner if you wish, PJ’s, Toiletry Items and medical items. Have littles? This includes things like comfort items like blankies and stuffies. Have someone with a disability? Besides their medical items think about comfort and communication items. Anything that helps them and you is worth carrying on. Be aware that having prohibited items in your checked bags WILL delay your bags getting to your cabin because they require further screening due to the found prohibited item.

Make sure you have your ID and Citizenship Documents available in easy reach. I suggest taking things you don’t wish to risk losing or having damaged in carry on. Disney does a great job handling your bags. Disney crew is not the only set of people handling your bags. You hand your bags to the port works between handing them over and them being delivered to your cabin. Things go missing and even go into the deep blue sea. There are items you can’t check in like Wine, Beer and Bottled Water and food items, unless the food item is medically necessary.

If it is valuable, fragile, would be damaged if it goes for a swim, medical related (equipment and/or medication) or something you will need like swimsuits or a change of clothing for later in the day MAKE SURE TO CARRY IT ON!

Minor side note. I personally know of 2 separate incidences when bags fell off trolleys into the ocean when being removed from the ship by the port staff. I have heard of more. First a family lost a couple bags that fell off a trolly. It had a communications device and comfort items for a young lad on the spectrum. I also know of a FULL TROLLY of suitcases that went overboard! The Port and Disney had divers go looking for the bags. The ship was delayed at the port. The 2 families we know were affected by these mishaps lost everything in the suitcases. First family was disembarking the ship and the second family was boarding the same ship!

From this video I’m giving my opinion on what the 3^rd dining room could be. I believe it has to be a musical type movie so I’m leaving off anything without a good sound track. I’m also leaving off any that have already had a show done in a restaurant on another ship.

My guess is either Moana or Encanto with the possibility of Snow White.

For a new stage show just for Believe, again looking at the movie list and thinking of Musical Movie and there is not another ship with that on it. Little Mermaid and Moana because they are on other ships already.

If they choose to go non-musical they could do, Inside Out, Big Hero 6, Zootopia or Monster’s Inc

The Lobby Statue could be any of the main characters from the stated moves. The Stern Character could be Tinker Bell or any character that represents Believe.

When Should You Fly Into the Port Area Before Your Cruise?

You have booked a cruise! Does not matter the port or line. Now you need to fly to the nearest airport to the port to get to your ship. You don’t have to be on the ship until sometime between 3 and 5 pm, your cruise documents will tell you when the latest is you can board. Remember, going on a cruise is not like going to an Amusement or Theme Park or a Resort. If you miss boarding on time you miss the cruise! The ship will not wait for you! Your choices are to pay out of pocket to meet it at the next port or hopefully you have trip insurance and can recover the money spent for the cruise.

You have the choice of flying in the day of boarding the cruise if you can get an earlier enough flight. Example you find a flight that comes in at 9 am. The port is a 3-hour drive from the airport. You have a last boarding call of 3pm. Why not fly in early in the morning? You can be at the port by noon or maybe 1 pm. You have 2-hours of slush. That should work, right??? The other choice is to fly in the day before or maybe add another day. Fly in early and stay at a hotel.

Pros and Cons of Flying in the same day you board:

Pros:

Less time away from home/job.
Less money because you are not paying for a hotel.
Less money spent on eating out because you are staying at a hotel.
Many cruise lines have transportation from the airport to the port, so transportation from the airport is easy.

Cons:

Just the stress alone of trying to get through the airport(s) and making any connecting flights can ruin your attitude for the entire trip, destroying your vacation.
What happens if there is a flight cancelation or delay of any kind? (Just check the FAA records for the number of flight delays and cancelations that are happening daily right now. It is a scary high number!) You could miss your cruise and lose the money you spent on your vacation!
What happens if there is a luggage issue? The airline would not have time to possibly find it and get it to you before the cruise.

Pros and Cons of flying in a day or 2 before you board the ship:

Pros:

Less stress.
You can explore the local area or just relax at the hotel.
Even if there is a flight delay or cancelation you should have time to catch the next available flight or make other travel arrangements.
If there is a time zone shift it allows your body a chance to compensate.
You are already near the port giving you less stress getting to the port.
You may be able to board earlier than flying in the day of embarkation and therefore start the vacation/cruise early!

Cons:

You have to pay for a hotel room.
You have to pay for meals on the days you are there at the hotel.
You need to find transportation from the hotel to the port.
What do you do for the extra days? Explore the area or stay at the hotel?

Things to look at while making the decision when to fly.

How far is the Port from the airport? Some ports are 5 minutes away from the airport and some are 3 hours away.
Can you find a hotel that the cruise line picks up from?
Can you find a hotel with a low cost or even free shuttle to the port?
Some hotels have free shuttles from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport. Maybe stay at one of the hotels that has an airport shuttle and take it back to the airport to catch the cruise line transportation to the port.
Would renting a car be a better option for you and your travel party? Most Cruise Lines charge for their shuttle from the airport. If your party is on the larger side renting a large vehicle to use from the airport to the hotel then turn it in and get another vehicle to ride back to the airport.
What is the weather like when you are flying? Hurricane Season, Snow Storms?
What is going on with the Airline industry and TSA. Are there known problems causing delays and cancelations.

What if you are driving from 2 or more hours away? Personally, I do believe you should go the day before and stay at a hotel to make embarkation more relaxed. I know where we live traffic can go from bad to complete stand still and stay there for hours! What should be a 1 hour trip can turn into 4 or 5. The only time I think it is ok not to go at least the day before is if you live locally to the port you are sailing from. 2 hours or less. Even at 2 hours I say watch traffic and leave early.

In the end it is up to you what you decide. You know what is best for your family/travel party and life situation. It is your vacation and your money. If you MUST fly in the day you board I highly recommend you have trip insurance and make sure it covers flights and other travel related problems keeping you from boarding the ship.

Disney Cruise Line Shows Commitment to Sailing Alaska!

On July 22^nd, 2026 Disney Cruise Line and the Huna Totem Corporation signed an agreement for preferred docking at Ice Straight for DCL ships.

Here are the known take aways:

Disney gets their choice of dock location once per week.
Disney agrees to stop at Icy Straight once per week during the summer season.
Disney agrees to bring a predetermined number of guests of guests each season.
This contract will be up for renewal in 2040.

Here is what we don’t know:

What day each week DCL will port at Icy Straight.
How much extra is DCL paying for the preferred dock.
How many people does DCL agree to bring to Icy Straight each week/season.
What ship will be going there.

What does this agreement tell us about the future of DCL and Summer Alaskan Cruises:

DCL went from 1 ship to 2 ships sailing in Alaska for the summers with Magic joining Wonder in this year, 2026.
DCL is committed to continuing sailing to Alaska in the long term.
Alaska Cruises are lucrative for DCL and other lines.

What do I see happening:

At this point in time there are 3 different contracts, both involving Disney Magic and Wonder that, when looked at together give us some very interesting possibilities for West Coast and Alaska Cruising.

First DCL signed a contract with Catalina Island for preferred port status in 2025:

There are several interesting things. DCL will pay extra per guests when they port there for the preferred port status.
This contract is good for 5 years with 2 possible 5 year renewal clauses. It will last until 2035 but could be lengthened.
Starting mid September, 2027 and continuing to mid May, 2028, DCL Magic and Wonder will stop at Catalina Island twice per week. Both ships are named in the Contract. Starting mid May 2028 there will be 1 ships stopping at Catalina per week. To make it simple. Mid September to Mid-May 2 ships will stop at Catalina. From Mid-May to Mid-September only 1 ship will stop at Catalina.
The contract between DCL and Catalina specifies Magic and Wonder will be the 2 main ships porting there but it does says there may be a 3^rd unnamed ship docking there.

The second contract signed was with San Diego, Ca. DCL has signed an agreement to have as many as 2 ships at San Diego year-round.

The San Diego Port Contract is like the Catalina Island Contract. It states that Magic and Wonder will be there.
It does not mention any 3^rd ship but that does not mean there can not be.
It says the same schedule of 2 ships vs 1 ship as the Catalina Island.

If we put the 3 contracts together I believe it is saying there will be as many as 3 ships between San Diego, Ca and Alaska sailings. Let me break that down.

Starting in 2027 Mid-September to Mid May both Disney Magic and Wonder will be sailing out of San Diego doing Baja and Mexican Cruises of various lengths. They will continue doing this until 2040 at least.

Starting 2028 Mid-May to Mid-September

I believe a 3^rd ship, this is my speculation, will join Magic and Wonder in San Diego in April or Early May doing one or 2 short sailings to Mexico/Baja.
Mid-May 2 of the 3 ships will go to Alaska for the summer season.
The 3^rd ship will stay in San Diego for the summer sailing season going to Mexico and Baja.
In 2028 Mid-September the 2 ships that went to Alaska will return to San Diego. Disney Magic and Wonder will go back to sailing Baja and Mexican cruises from San Diego. The 3^rd ship will go to the East Coast or maybe Texas to do sailings from one of those 3 ports.

Cruising Disney with Special Needs

As with anything/anyplace advocate for yourself.

Make your needs known and do not feel ashamed for asking for assistance.

Remember, no business or person can help if you do not express the need.

What are Special Needs? Here is a short and not totally inclusive list:

· Limited Mobility and use of Mobility Aids that includes; cane, crutches, walker, wheelchair or scooter.

· Hearing Impaired

· Visually Impaired

· Cognitively Impaired

· Neurodivergent

· Medically Fragile

· Diabetic

· Food Allegis

· Sensitivity to Lights and Sound

What does DCL offer in the way of help?

Again, this is not a complete list! It is an huge overview of what is available from DCL and a suggestion to an outside vendor who can assist with what DCL can’t help with. It is NOT an all inclusive list! Feel free to contact me with any questions about your specific needs. What I don’t know I’ll be happy to find out.

Mobility needs:

Accessible cabins:

· Cabins have more space to move in with a wheelchair or scooter and a lower threshold on the door for ease of entry with wheels.

· 2 emergency pull lines that can call for help if needed. 1 in the main cabin area and 1 in the bathroom.

· Accessible Closet with a hanger rail that comes down for a wheelchair user.

· Rollin Shower, Shower Seat, Grabrails and lower sink you can roll up to.

· Shower Chairs (for non-Accessibcabins), Steps for the Bed, and Bed Rails upon request.

Other Mobility Information:

· All public spaces, including shops, decks and shows are accessible by those using mobility aids.

· Using your own scooter that breaks apart on the cruise? That is fine and you MAY not need an accessible cabin for it. Measure the width of the scooter and contact DCL and ask them if the cabin door will accommodate your scooter.

· All public spaces have seating for those in scooters and wheelchairs. There are 2 places with special entrances for those using mobility aids. Triton’s Main Dining Room has a door on the Port Side (Left Side of the ship as you face forward) of the ship. This door has no steps and is not just an accessible entrance. It is just a secondary entrance. If you wish to sit at the front of the Walt Disney Theater go to the Cadillac Lounge on Deck 3 Port Side and let them know you need accessible entrance to the theater. They will arrange for you to enter through the backstage area to the front row. After the show wait and they will bring you out.

· You may request a lift to get you into a pool or hot tub. Make the request several hours ahead of time so they can arrange for it to be at the pool you wish. They will minimally assist with you transferring.

· They only provide temporary use of a wheelchair if you are injured during the trip. They generally only have a few and they are not comfortable.

For the Visually Impaired:

· Brille is widely placed on signage around the ships.

· In the Restaurants you can request Large Print Menus.

· Ships elevators announce what deck you are at when the door opens.

· Cast Members will assist you at places like the Buffet and other quick-service locations.

· You ask for headsets that will give you discerptions of what is going on during shows and movies. There is a refundable deposit for this.

· Disney allows Meta Glasses as a visual aid for those who need them. Some cruise lines have banned them over privacy concerns.

For the Hearing Impaired:

· There are staterooms designed for those with hearing loss. They include the following things:

· Doorbell that flashes lights in the cabin when someone is at the door.

· Ships Emergency Alarms will set the lights in the cabin flashing.

· The alerts for the doorbell and emergency alarms will also shake the bed to wake the guest.

· As in all cabins Closed Caption is available on the in cabin TV set.

· You can request headsets that make it easier for those with limited hearing to hear the shows and movies. You place a small refundable deposit.

· At some venues there are digital closed captioning devices available.

Neurodivergent Needs:

These are harder to find:

· For the young and young at heart there is a book you can download and print. I love it! It is called my Disney Cruise Adventure.

o Before you go use this book to let your neurodivergent traveler know what they will see and hear on the ship and the trip to and from.

o While traveling this book is wonderful as a backup safety item for your kids. You fill in your flight/travel plans and contact information in the how I’m getting there and who I’m with sections. This gives them something to show an appropriate person to ask for help if they happen to get separated from you. It is also there for memories later. Then teach them how to identify “helpers” such as airline employees, airport security, and any business employees at locations they may be around. Look for work ID tags and go to a cash register are good options.

o The book teaches words like Port, Starboard, Aft and Bow so they can understand the ships crew members. It warns them that the toilet is loud so it doesn't scare them as much when they use it on the ship.

o It gives them a place to write down people and things they wish to remember. It acts as a scrapbook. They have a spot they can write the contact information for friends they make in the kids clubs! Best idea EVER!

o During travel it allows them to color and draw, so bring those crayons and colored pencils along to keep them happy and excited!

· I’ve found the best thing to understand and know for the neurodivergent is the need for a quiet space. There are plenty of quiet spots on the ships. You can always find a empty area with less noise and stimulation when needed. Before shows ask Crew Members where the best place to watch for your needs.

· Be aware that Kids Clubs ages are not negotiable, even for disabilities. This may seem ruff and hard to understand but truly they are considering the safety of all those using the areas. You can take your older Neurodivergent traveler to the kids areas during open house to check them out.

· DCL does have lines to see the characters. Usually, these lines are much shorter than the ones at the parks. You can have one person stand in line while the other entertains your neurodivergent party member, then join when they reach the front of the line. Photographers, characters and handlers are very patient and will work hard to get great pictures and special moments.

· DCL is well aware that food issues are a real issue with Neurodivergent guests. They will help in anyway then can and make it easier for you. If your neurodivergent travel partner limits food call ahead of time to ask if they have what they like most. Many love chicken nuggets or mac & cheese. Both are available.

· There are a very limited number of Autism at Sea sailings on DCL. Other cruise lines do more of them. Check Autism at Sea or ask your Travel Agent if they can assist with an Autism at Sea Sailing with support staff to give caregivers breaks during the cruise.

Bringing Medical Equipment or Medications:

· Do you need to keep medication cold? Request a small fridge from special services before boarding. Don’t worry if it is not there when you arrive, just ask your room steward or call Guests Services.

· Use a CPap and need distilled water? Let them know before you go and they will have it in your cabin. Need more while sailing? Just ask your room steward and they will bring you some.

· Need an extension cord to plug in your medical equipment? Remember extension cords are a banned item for safety reasons. DCL does have a limited number power cords available to borrow. There is a refundable deposit that is returned when you return the power cord at the end of the cruise.

· Use a sharps container? There is one in the cabin bathroom. Fill it up? Ask for another when you need it.

· Call and ask about any special accommodations you may need for your equipment. Ask about special loading and unloading plans you may need to make.

· By policy medication should be in it’s original bottle/package with the prescription label on it. But I have found if you wish to make a travel pack and keep pictures of the pills with the original packaging label with you that usually is not an issue.

Food Allergies/Dietary Needs:

· Have a food allergy, diary, wheat, and nuts are just the short list of allergies. Do you have diabetes, Crohn's disease or gluten intolerance? DCL has you covered! They do not what you to have an allergic reaction or food related illness while at sea!

· Let DCL know at least 6 weeks ahead of your cruise. This way they can provide what you need and make notes not to put your health at risk.

· First night tell your serving staff at dinner. They will make a note and help you. Often this means ordering dinner the night before so you don’t delay dinner for your table.

· When you order at the buffet or quick-service locations or room service let them know and ask what is available.

Service Dog Accommodations:

Service dogs are allowed on DCL ships. It does not matter if it is a Guide Dog, Medical Alert of any kind Dog or a Food Allergy Alert Dog they will be allowed to sail.

· All Service Dogs must pass a FDA medical check up with a FDA cleared veterinarian and have proof of all vaccinations. This is at the guest’s expense.

· Dogs may not be left alone in the cabin or tied up on a deck.

· Dogs must be under the control of their handler at all times.

· A relief station is provided for the dog to use and it is required to use that location only. The guest must clean up after their animal. Proper disposal containers are appropriately located near the relief station.

· You are responsible for the food and care of your service dog.

What does DCL not provide:

· Wheelchair and other mobility aids. (They do have 1^st come 1^st serve limited number of Sand Wheelchairs on their private islands.)

· Patient Lifts for getting in and out of mobility devices.

· Hospital Beds.

· Lift Recliners.

· Oxygen Concentrators and Oxygen Supplies

· Ability to repair your equipment easily. (DCL will try and do their best to assist if necessary. No promises made.)

· If you need a wheelchair or scooter and do not have one rent one ahead of time. Special Needs Group/Special Needs at Sea is top rated. They work worldwide and will do their best to provide what you need at any hotel, resort or cruise line. There are other providers that cost less, but I’ll make it simple with mentioning what I think is the best. You do pay for the quality service you get.

· All the above listed items are available from Special Needs Group/Special Needs at Sea. Yes, they have walkers, rollators, wheelchairs (both transfer and standard), scooters, Beach/Sand Wheelchairs, patient lifts, hospital beds, lift recliners and if their equipment has an issue there is a way to contact them and they will be at the next port to assist. They will deliver the mobility aid to you at the terminal and pick it up from you upon return. Beds and other equipment will be set up in your room/cabin for you. They can deliver to a pre or post-cruise hotel as well. They also do land destinations such as Disney and Universal Destinations.

Special Needs Group may be higher priced than other companies, but they provide the best service available. You can be sure the equipment will be in good condition and if something happens they are there to assist. DCL Cast Members have also recommends Special Needs Group because of the quality of service and equipment they provide the guests with.

at is the DCL Navigator App? Do I really need it on my cruise?

What is the DCL Navigator App? Do I really need it on my cruise?

Simply put the DCL Navigator App is your best friend during your cruise. Every member of your travel party should have a device with this app on it. It works off the ships WiFi and is free to use. If traveling with someone who does not usually have a smart device I suggest using a old tablet or phone with no service attached and put it in WiFi mode. This is a great option to keep in touch with younger cruisers in your party while on board.

At home the Navigator App will do the following:

1. Give you a daily count down for the cruise. It counts down to midnight the day we embark on the cruise.
2. Let you see your PIF (Pay In Full) date, Booking Window Opening Date (date you can start booking your adventures.), and Online Check-In Date.
3. Will take you to where you can make payments, access to booking activities once your Booking Window opens, gives you the information you will need to do your Online Check-In and when that opens you will be able to access it from the app.
4. Let you explore the Online Gifts you can purchase and have delivered to your cabin. Some of these are limited to preorder and some you may find in the shops.
5. You can explore the cruise itinerary. What dates will you be in what port and what adventures can you book for that port?

On the Ship:

1. Gives you your Main Dining Room Rotation and Dining Schedule, Time and Table number.
2. Gives you your Muster Station Location. Where you will go for the Muster Drill and during an emergency.
3. Gives you a schedule for the day and the entire cruise! This is wonderful because you can see if an event you want to do on the 2^nd day is available on another day of the cruise.
4. Let’s you highlight and set alerts for events you don’t want to miss.
5. Allows you to send messages to others in your travel party and those outside of your party that you share your chat code with. (To be honest, this feature is spotty at best.)
6. Allows DCL Crew Members to send you important messages.
7. Check your Shipboard Folio to see how much you have spent and make payments.
8. Book a Placeholder or Onboard Offer Discounted Cruise. (2 bookings can be made per cabin.)

Post Cruise:

1. Allows you to access your purchased photos to download them.
2. Allows you to download your Shipboard Folio so you can check your charges.
3. Let’s you see your Castaway Club Status and cruises.

Ships of the Disney Cruise Line

Let’s start off by saying that as of today July 11, 2026 there are 8 active ships in the Disney Fleet. With a 9^th currently being built right now. Here they are in order of the date they joined the fleet:

Classic/Magic-Class Ships:
Disney Magic – Maiden Voyage July 1998
Disney Wonder – Maiden Voyage December 1999
Dream-Class Ships:
Disney Dream – Maiden Voyage 2011
Disney Fantasy – Maiden Voyage 2012
Wish-Class Ships
Disney Wish – Maiden Voyage 2022
Disney Treasure – Maiden Voyage 2024
Disney Destiny – Maiden Voyage November 2025
Adventure-Class (This is a one and done class)
Disney Adventure Maiden Voyage 2026

That is the current 8 in order of joining the fleet.

There is one ship being built at this moment, Wish-Class, Disney Believe, This ship will bring the fleet to 9 ships by the end of 2026. Disney Believe will have its Maiden Voyage towards the end of 2026. The exact date has NOT been released as of yet. It should be released by September 2026 but could be in October depending on the status of the build. My guess is sometime in November for the Maiden Voyage. I’m hoping it is not in Thanksgiving Week. Watch for announcements from D23 for updates on the Believe’s build progress and possible theming of restaurants, venues and shows.

Now hold on to your lifeboats because things are not done YET! Again, this information is as of today, July 11, 2026 and based on only Disney Officially Released or other confirmed information. 4 more ships will be joining the fleet between 2028 and 2031! We know class and general specifications for one of the ships. The last 3 will be an entirely new and smaller class of ships. This will bring the total number of ships to 13 by 2031. None of the last 4 ships have been named as of yet. Their themes have not been announced. The exact date they will sail, home ports or itineraries have not been announced. It takes between 18-24 months to build a ship. Number 10 should start its build soon to stay on track for delivery. I’m guessing in the next 3-4 months for the OLC Wish-Class ship to start being built.

Ship 10 will be the 5^th and most likely final in the Wish-Class ships. This ship is being built for OLC that owns and runs Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea in partnership with Disney. It will sail exclusively out of Tokyo, Japan.

Ships 11-13 will be a smaller set of ships that is sized between the Classic-Class and the Dream-Class. They will start joining the fleet in 2029 and the last will join the fleet in 2031. These will be able to go to more ports than the larger ships.

As of today, July 11, 2026, Disney Ships are all over the world. Magic and Wonder are in Alaska for the summer. Dream is in Europe, Fantasy, Wish, Treasure and Destiny are in the 2 ports in Florida. Disney Adventure is in Singapore sailing 3 & 4-Night cruises as sea. They will continue this until at least 2030. The contract with the port ends in 2030 but can be extended. End of summer Dream comes back from Europe and will stay in Florida. Magic will move from San Diego, Ca to Galveston Tx at the end of 2026 and return to San Diego Spring of 2027. Wonder will stay in San Deigo until Summer 2027. Summer 2027 is not out yet but I have educated guesses for where they will be. Spring of 2027 Wish will head to Europe for the first time! The other sips will stay where they are in Florida. Disney Believe is completely unknown on Home Port and itineraries she will have as of today.

Educated guesses for Summer/Fall 2027. Know information for the Summer Wish will be in Europe, Magic and Wonder will be in Alaska. Dream, Fantasy, Treasure, Destiny and Believe will most likely be in Florida using the 2 home ports there. This is just until the end of the summer of 27!

Fall of 2027 DCL has announced that there will be a minimum of 1-2 ships (Magic & Wonder officially named) sailing year-round out of San Diego. Starting Mid September 2027 and going until Mid May 28 there will be 2 ships in San Diego. 2 stops per week will be made at Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California doing Baja and Mexico cruises of 3 to 7 nights. Mid May of 28, by contracts, there will be 1 ship in San Diego with one stop per week at Santa Catalina Island. This pattern will continue until mid Sept 28. This will repeat with until sometime around 2040. I believe the summer limit of DCL at San Diego says DCL will continue with the very popular Alaskan cruises.,

As said the San Diego expansion and stops at Catalina only mention Magic and Wonder. The contract with Catalina specifically mentions a possible 3^rd unnamed ship may go there. Here are some educated guesses. DCL will continue to send 2 ships to Alaska during the summer months. The Alaskan Cruises are very popular and I see that continuing. I believe that a 3^rd, yet to be named ship of unknown class will be sent to take over one of the positions. It will either stay at San Diego while Magic and Wonder go to Alaska or 1 of the Classic ships will go to Alaska with the newcomer while the other stays in San Diego.

I believe there may be a big announcement at D23 increasing the number of ship orders with Meyer Warft Shipyard. If they will continue making more of the 5^th-unnamed class that is yet to be built or if they will go with another new class or more Wish-Class ships I have no idea.

Why do I think they will increase the order? DCL is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. The demand is growing for new ships and destinations. Disney wants to respond. Add to that the fact that the historical life span of a cruse ship is 30 years. Both Magic and Wonder should retire soon. They will reach 30 in 2028 and 29 respectively. I do believe they can keep them running for another 5 or maybe 10 years the way DCL maintains their ships. Still there is a shelf life to cruise ships to be in top working order and top of the line. Disney is considered a higher class of cruise ships and strives to maintain that. Older ships take that standard down, no matter how well maintained.

Disney Cruise Line 24 Hour Website and Call Center Maintenance Shutdown

Disney Cruise Line has announced that they will be shutting down the website and call center for 24 hours. This is to make upgrades to the functional system to help DCL with reservations.

There system will be down from 4am July 9^th to 4am July 10^th. Travel Agents and guests will not be able to book a cruise, make payments, special requests or modifications to an existing cruise, do Online Check-In, book Port and Shipboard Adventures, or pre-order Amenities and Gifts. The entire site will be down and unavailable, as will the Navigator App.

If you have a payment due on July 9^th, 2026 make sure you make it the day before. Make any special requests and deal with any issues you may have with a reservation that must be made by July 9^th done ahead of time. Online Check-In, Port Adventures and other things can wait an extra day without any issues.
