Institution Visit - IISc Bangalore

In continuation to the visit to Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore dated 16th August 2019, another team of Interested students were allowed to interact with the Mr. Ranganathan Sathishkumar, Senior Scientific Officer, regarding the research avenues in the field of Science and Engineering.

The students team of PKIET, comprising of 12 members were permitted to discuss with a Third Year student of National Institute of Technology, Karaikal and with faculty member of Kendriya Vidyalaya. The basic phenomenon in the field of Physics and Solid State Structural Chemistry were discussed and the students were promptly responded to the queries raised by the faculty team.

Visited various departments and laboratories and the facilities and achievements performed were highlighted to the students.

The team was supervised by the Chief Research Scientist, Dr. M. Nethaji. Being an expert in the related field of Chemical Crystallography, he emphasized the importance of the research activities and the viable opportunities in publishing the research works in International Journals and Conferences. The students were highly motivated by his speech.

Ms. K. Sushmitha and Ms. P. Nivedha of the department of ECE, PKIET had participated in the Mock Placement event conducted as a part of GENESIS 2019, a National Level Technical Symposium held during 17th and 18th October 2019. The event was conducted in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry.

Further, they had presented a paper of title "" in the Genesis 2019.

Industrial Visit - Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum

As a part of the curriculum, arrangements have been made for the students to visit various Industries, Institution and Government companies related to their field of studies. In this regard, the team of interested students after vising the IISc, Bangalore, they were visiting the Government Museum in Bangalore, which was established in 1865 by the Mysore State with the guidance of Surgeon Edward Balfour who founded the museum in Madras and supported by the Chief Commissioner of Mysore.

A team of four students from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and Technology (PKIET), headed by Dr. R. Sathishkumar, Assistant Professor had visited the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for knowledge updation and for assessing the project opportunities, during the month of August 2019.

The students had visited the Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit, in the Inorganic and Physical Chemistry block. The students were precisely mentored by Mr. Ranganathan Sathishkumar, Senior Scientific Officer, and explained about the State-of-the-Art laboratory equipment and its operations.

The Scientific officer imparted the students about Molecular Diffraction in X-ray Crystallography and demonstrated its operation. The students were exposed to the project opportunities in the Image Processing domain, in Identification of crystalline structures.

The students interviewed the Scientific officer, over walk-and-talk around the IISc Campus and were visited various departments and laboratories. (Pic: J N Tata Statue in Admin Building)

The resource person shared the experience in IISc and motivated the students for pursuing the research in IISc. Further, he shared the information on IISc's Contribution to Early Industrialisation, Sir CV Raman and Physics at IISc, Gandhi at IISc,

The students were tested with their basic knowledge in X-ray Crystallography and were guided to identify the project domain, in his field of research.
