This is a charging song.

This is the highlight song of the album and it has a moderate pace to it. The usage of keyboard, guitar, violin, octopad is good. The chemistry between both the singers is good and there is a techno feel to their rendering. The lyrics are written in an interesting manner and the content of melody is rich. The usage of Hindi words is another twist to the number. Overall, this is an impressive track.

This is a foot tapping number and the solo takes off with a good tone of Saxophone and from there on it picks up speed and energy. The usage of Octopad, violin and other instruments is significant and it is the pace at which the song has been composed which strikes. The singer has rendered with high energy levels and the lyrics have been written in the right manner.

Chandamama Navve

This is another highlight song of the album in terms of composition and the flavour. The track takes off with an interesting tune and then it is joined by the octopad drums along with other electronic instruments. The solo has been rendered with nice modulation and melody. The lines chosen are with simple words but then they convey the essence of the song very nicely.

Bad Boyz

This is more like the item song of the album but it is also filled with western flavour. The beat is fast and it takes off with a distinct voice of the female singer. The usage of the Octopad beats and the regular instruments is balanced and one can see a good dose of Bollywood taste in the composition. The chemistry between both singers is good and they have done their bit in sync. The lyrics are written with the required eroticism and teasing.

Businessman (Theme)

This is another highlight song of the album and is also the title track. The opening is rich with trombone and percussion instruments along with the electric guitar, drums etc. This is a perfect combo of rocking music and the rendering of both Mahesh and Puri. They have done it like professionals and it gives a solid punch to the listeners. This is a challenge for the lyricist to come up with words in rhythm and pace. Overall, this is another impressive number.

Verdict

It is never an easy task when a music director is delivering nearly six out of ten films that are arriving and that too top league big budget flicks.

However, Thaman has taken the challenge and has been proving his mettle with each passing movie. Here again, he has maintained the same energy in his composition and also with the right kind of beats and pace.

His choice of singers was also apt as they came up with a youthful rendering. Nearly three songs from the album would be catchy. If only this had one slow or soft melody, the album would have been complete. The lyrical value brought by Bhaskarabhatla is of good quality and certain words are quite appealing. Overall, this is an album which rocks and youth will love it.

Agneepath Music Review

1. Chikni Chameli - A rehash of a popular Marathi Song. Yep no points for guessing it because the beginning is pleasantly very very ’Marathi’. Never been a fan of such songs but have to

give it where it’s due so Ms. Shreya Ghosal, take a bow. The cheeky lyrics are superbly sung by Shreya and for once she is not trying too hard to convey ’look how sweet I sound’. Kudos to Shreya for this song. Just listen to her when she says ’Pauuwa’. Every time.

2. O Saiyyan - Beautiful start to an interesting track with Piano and in comes Roop kumar Rathod accompanied by a group of soothing background singers. The song has a pinch of ’Saware’ (shor i n the city) in the beginning, but a very theatrical song otherwise. A song which talks about pain. Lots of it. The heavy violins featuring in every antraas add up to the theatrical feel of the song. I love the way Roop Kumar’s voice echoes. The song starts with a lot of promise but fails somewhere in between. My view.

3. Gun Gun Guna - Hello Sunidhi chauhan! Err wait! Why the song is so below average right from the start? Wait wait! Please lift it up. Ok. Failed! No problem. We know you are capable of much more. The song is an attempt to be the ’Why so serious?’ item in the film. Might work. Didn’t for me. Udit Narayan is present just for the sake of it.

4. Shah Ka Rutba - Qawwali like starting and Sukhwinder confirms that it is a song to praise a human being as he is the special one to be blessed by the powers that be. Anand Raaj Anand & Krishna Beura give a good support to Sukhwinder and try their best to lift the song. The song is supposed to be ’inspirational’. It might look like a treat on the screen and grown then, not now. Again, my view.

5. Abhi Mujh mein - Sonu Nigam! *Hugs first* An instrument light beginning with Sonu nigam taking the song to the peak and then calming things down almost instantly. Powerful lyrics and the tune which is similar in some respects to the track sung by Roop Kumar Rathod. Still one can actually visualize a pained Male Protagonist looking back in time and breathing, or at least trying to. Do catch the slow tabla and how it flirts with Sonu Nigam in the second antraa. My pick of this album. Quite simply.

6. Deva Shree Ganesha - Yes, the anticipation of it all! Loads of chanting and an explosion of nagadas and other ’Arti’ like instruments. Atul (One of the music director for this film) goes behind the mic and blares it out, in style. The music setting is shouting only two things - Blood and revenge. The last 56 seconds of this song is what will remind us all of the iconic Aarti in the film Vaastav, the difference however is that in Vaastav, the male protagonist starts his final ’run’ to hide from his adversaries, in the case of AgneePath the male protagonist will take his enemies HEAD ON! This difference comes out quite clearly in the last 56 seconds. Good job!

Bindu is as good as Geetha Madhuri.

Vettai Music Review

The flick Vettai will yet again present fans with the hit Paiyaa jodi of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and director Linguswamy coming together. Rajapattai is quite a different film for director Suseenthiran and actor Vikram for their previous movies were based on exceptional themes. With the attempts of making a commercial movie, the duo comes together and it's a musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja with Yugabharathi penning lyrics. The album comprises of 5 tracks that includes a reprised version of Podi Paiyan Polave.

Yuvan goes for a simple composition for the beats and instrumentals are so simple. It may take some more time for the song to grab our attention. The mixing is done with excellence, but we don't find an engrossing factor with the lyrics. The song is middling and doesn't sound like a piece of work from Yuvan Shankar Raja. Haricharan does his job perfectly.

2. Laddu Laddu Rendu

Voices: Vikram, Priyadarshini, Suchitra
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

The music director has tried to rendering the Kuthu song in late 80s style as in his father Maestro Ilayaraja's style. Well, we can sense it with the bass, brass and the rhythmic accompaniment. In order to offer a transition, he goes for a DJ kind of work during second verse. The song will be a sure treat for the frontbenchers in theatres with Chiyaan Vikram shaking legs with hotties Reema Sen and Shriya Charan.

3. Villathi Villain

Voices: Mano, Malathi
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Much alike the previous track, Yuvan goes for the retro-style track. It's evident with the vocalizing pattern, Live Drums, etc, etc. The song should keep the audiences engrossed with the visuals and the scintillating appearance of Vikram in different get-ups.

4. Paniye Panipoove

Vocals: Javed Ali, Renuka
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Melodious
pick with the singers Javed Ali and Renuka adding more intensity to the romantic feel. It's a situational song and the lyrics are just average. Yuvan keeps shifting between major and minor scales. The string works can be regarded as one of the best works that occurs during the second interlude.

Rajapattai has a mixture of mediocre and good tracks. Yuvan Shankar Raja has clearly understood the nature of film 'Commercial Genre'. 'Laddu Laddu' and 'Villathi Villain' will surely arrests the senses of audiences.

While Surya and Vijay are releasing their movies, 7aam Arivu and Velayudam, as Diwali treat for their fans, Silambarasan is ready to entertain the audience with his Osthi audio. The much-hyped music of Osthi is hitting the stands today.

Sony Music is all set to release the music of Osthi in a grand manner in Chennai on October 19. The audio launch function will be attended by the cast and crew of the forthcoming Tamil film and Simbu's father T Rajender will be the special guest at the function.

Thaman compositional album has five songs for which Vaali, Silambarasan and Yugabharathi have penned the lyrics. The audio is a mixture of mass and class songs. 'Kalasala...' item number – the Tamil version of 'munni badnaam hui...' - is one of the highlights of the album, as Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat has shaken her legs.

Dharani directorial Osthi features Silambarasan, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sonu Sood, Githan Ramesh, Revathi and others in the cast.

Nandeeswarudu Music Review

The audio theme of Nandamuri Taraka Ratna’s forthcoming Nandeeswarudu has been released on Sunday at Jayabheri Club in Hyderabad.
The event was attended by ‘Movie Moghul’ Dr D Ramanaidu as chief guest. He unveiled the first copy of the audio CD. The film is being directed by Anji Sreenu and produced by Kota Gangadhara Reddy and Segu Ramesh BAbu on SRB Art Productions.
Parhu is dishing out its tunes and the audio album has Tarak trying his hands at playback singing. Sheena is the heroine, while Jagapathi Babu is playing a police officer. The movie is hitting the theatres in the third week of December.

With expectations high on first time Yuvan – Pawan combination, Yuvan lives upto them and comes up with a high energetic track.
Ramajogaiah Sastry’s lyrics like Nee churachurachura choopulE panjaa take you into right imaginative mood where one can see Pawan in action.
Expressions like Aakaasam nee panjaa, Aavesam nee panjaa.. cheDunantam chese chaitanyam.. show depth in lyrics and feel about the character.
Yuvan’s voice and his usage of BGMs keep up the pace in this song.
If this track is used in background score of the movie, it will surely haunt viewers for long time.

Neatly written and composed duet where Chandrabose’s lyrics express both lovers supressed feeling of love and lack of expression.

Content rich lyric, well composed and sung, this will more useful while narrating story visually.

The Charukesi-laced Yedho aaghudae is appealing solely because of that raaga. Malayuru naattama ends of the album the way it started – pulsating kuthu, smartly cooked up with a familiar sound we’ve heard from a sporting event! Thaman’s Mambattiyan is standard commercial fare and is occasionally, appropriately engaging.

Don 2 Music Review

Recreating classic hits is not an easy job, hence Shankar Ehsaan Loy who reconstructed hits like Khaike Paan Banaraswala, Main Hoon Don and Yeh Mera Dil for the Don remake in 2006 did not get as much of a fan following which the soundtrack of the original Don featuring Amitabh Bachchan cherishes till date. Many still prefer to listen the yesteryear's hit tracks. But now, the ball is in their court as Don 2 is a completely new concept and hence, there is no limit for creativity this time. It's always easier to draw on a blank page, rather than trace. So lets check out what the trio has for us this time.

SRK kick starts the album with Aa Raha Hoon Palat Ke and right away sets the record that the "KING IS BACK".

Follows next is the first superhit song of the album Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo. Sung by Vishal Dadlani and Anusha Mani you will not instantly like this song. On the first hearing, its is not at all appealing, but mind you, it is slow poison. The song will grow on you over the time. Anusha Mani has the calmness in her voice and Vishal's vocals are the exact foil. If you still feel it is not a good song, wait and watch. The song is set to rule in future.

Usha Uthup makes an appearance on the tracklist and she is back with a bang. Hai Ye Maya required a different voice texture and Usha does pretty well. If not for this lady, the song would have lacked the punch. Being not one of the conventional songs again this may take time to do the trick. The Remix version converts this song into the much familiar club version.

Again one more song that is not what you perceive. Shankar Mahadevan croons Dushman Mera along with Sunitha Sarathy. The song seems to have the hangover of the 80's. It is fast and racy, adrenaline pumping track. Sure to swipe off a few off there feet.

The King is Back with his trademark Don tune which is now as popular as James Bond and Mission Impossible. Sunitha Sarathy's vocals coupled up with S-E-L's sheer talent makes this theme song for an instant like.

They say keep the best for the end. K.K brings back the hit number Main Hoon Don from the 2006 remake in a new avatar. Mujhko Pehchanlo is exactly the same title track from Don but with different lyrics and minute changes in composition in the interludes. The song also appears in a Remix avatar.

The album concludes with a beautiful waltz titled The "Don" Waltz.

Javed Akhtar again has the words in the right place. Shankar Ehsaan Loy has given Farhaan Akhtar what he wanted. Although the album misses a Chammak Chhalo kind of commercially hit number, Don 2 will be hot favourite for those avid listeners of music who go beyond the item songs and mushy romantic tracks.

Don 2 is set to make a mark as far as the music is concerned. S-E-L have utilized the blank page optimally. This is one of the best albums by Shankar Ehsaan Loy in terms of creativity and novelty after the much acclaimed ZNMD. Again, Don 2 may not breathe fire instantly, it will take time to grow.

Another thing which goes against this album is that it may spur up extremely diverse reactions, if one section of listeners may applaud the efforts of the composers others may pan it badly. Don 2 needs to get as many songs promoted before release, that will help the album as a whole.

For SRK and Don fans, do not waste time, go for it.

Poraali Music Review

Yaar ivan, partly because of Shankar Mahadevan’s high-pitched vocals, is strongly reminiscent of Nadodigal’s anthemic Sambo siva sambo, but without that impact; the other version by Chinmayi is even more weaker. Vithiye potri‘s initial utterances by Sasikumar evolve into a pulsating musical piece sung badly by Samithirakani, while Vegamaai channels only the former’s music appropriately. Chinmayi’s Engirundhu is short and adequately haunting, but the soundtrack’s highlight is Vedi podu, a standard Sundar C Babu-style raucous track with excited vocals and a repetitively catchy hook! Poraali fits perfectly within the Sundar C Babu school of music; that’s not a good sign.

Balasubramaniam, Shreya Ghoshal are excellent in rendering their vocals for this number. Melodious Start!!!

Evadunnadu is a bit track which is a conversation between Valmiki and Naradha Maharshi. The song takes off with A.N.R’s voiceover followed by SPB. This time, Ilayaraja has used Tabla predominantly along with the violin so that the instruments do not dominate the singer’s voice. The track goes onto explain the traits and nobleness of Lord Rama.

Yet another melody based number rendered soulfully by Anitha and Keerthana. Jonnavithula has penned powerful words which are an additional asset to the number.

The fine composition of glowingly devotional lyrics with impressive vocals makes it a brilliant soundtrack.

Ilayaraja has scored this number in a commercial style with modern instrumentals that will leave one in surprise. Balasubramaniam for singing this song beautifully capturing the emotions.

Ilayaraja has made it even more interesting with good use of classical Indian instruments.

Sita Srimantham as the title suggests appears in the episode of Sita’s baby Shower. The track is situational just like the earlier ones and the music sounds familiar to Ilayaraja’s old hits. As per the audio, it has nothing to boast of.

Final Verdict

Sri Rama Rajyam is a mythological film and true to its genre, the songs are classical with high literary values. Every track is situational and has its own importance in Ramayana. Ilayaraja impresses the listeners with the devotional album by delivering the needful to the listeners. Sri Rama Rajyam audio raises the expectations even more on the film and if the film proves to box-office delight then this mythological album will be a big surprise in devotional music world.

The wait is finally over. After months of teaser promos and leaked mp3s the official soundtrack of Ra.One is now available for one and all.

Ra.One marks yet another attempt by Indian Cinema to tackle the genre of high budget blockbuster films featuring superhuman beings saving the world akin to its American counterpart. How the film fares at the box office is out of this document’s subject matter jurisdiction because we are solely here to give you a low-down of the much-awaited soundtrack of Ra.One.

Vishal-Shekhar are the maestros behind the music of Ra.One while Panchi Jalonvi, Nirangen Iyengar, Vishal and Kumaar have penned the lyrics. The soundtrack features 15 tracks showcasing the vocals of Senegalese American R&B singer Akon, Shafqat Amanat Ali (‘Bin Tere’ – I Hate Luv Storys), Sukwinder Singh (‘Dhan Te Nan’ – Kaminey), Clinton Cerejo (‘Hey Ya’ – Karthik Calling Karthik and ‘Kya Karoon’ – Wake Up Sid), Shruti Pathak (‘Mar Jawan’ – Fashion) and Hamsika Iyer (‘Chanda Re’ – Eklavya) amongst others.

Ra.One stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and hits cinemas Diwali 2011.
The soundtrack commences with Chammak Challo which, lets face it, needs no introduction. With a brilliant combo of Middle-eastern, Indian and contemporary music, ‘Chammak Challo’ has won the hearts of millions. It is addictive, so much so that the addicted may very well require a court-ordered rehabilitation program to divest themselves of it effects. What Akon looses in pronunciation and legibility he gains in oomph and attitude while Hamsika Iyer wows in Hindi and Tamil alike. Vishal-Shekhar without a doubt have an anthem on their hands with this one. ‘Chammak Challo’ appears in two versions, a film version which includes Hamsika Iyer and an International solo version by Akon. Unfortunately, as enjoyable the originals are, the tracks various remixes are far from it. The Punjabi mix gets off on a promising start, but falters shortly after while the other two remixes are unimpressive from the word go.

Dildara (Stand By Me) is next. A sweet little song with a brilliant fusion of classical Indian and contemporary music, ‘Dildara’, like its predecessor ‘Chammak Challo’, wasted no time in winning hearts. Shafqat’s powerful vocals are well supported by Vishal, Shekhar and Clinton and do ample justice to Kumaar’s lyrics. In many ways, Vishal-Shekhar have retained the feel of the Ben E King’s ‘Stand By Me’ and at the same time made the song their own. In short, ‘Dildara’ is all heart.

Criminal is Akon’s second number for the album and while it is not as effective as ‘Chammak Challo’, ‘Criminal’ still has its charm. It can be loud in portions and the vocals are sometimes shrouded by the loudness of the music, but the good mix of dhol-tastic Punjabi music with pumped up club-like music do not make it a total write-off. The English lyrics are a tad bit tacky but the Hindi lines are relatively good and vocalised well by Vishal, Shruti and Akon. A remix for ‘Criminal’ seems pointless as the track is quite loud and fast to begin with, but needless to say ‘Criminal’s’ remix does exist. It achieves nothing that the original did not and is rather unimpressive.

The album takes a sombre turn with Bhare Naina. It commences like any other classical track, but transforms into a powerful rock ballad. The chorus seems somewhat disjointed with the rest of song but other than that it is a brilliant track. Where has Nandani Srikar been hiding all this time? She is brilliant and with the uprise of singers like Shraddha Pandit, Rekha Bharwaj and Richa Sharma, it’s a wonder we have not heard of her before. She brings Pannchi Jalonvi’s lyrics to life nurtures it within an outstanding composition by Vishal-Shekar.

The album then lightens up with Siddhartha Coutto’s Right By Your Side. If you liked ‘Jaane Kyon’ from Dostana, you’ll love this track as it encompasses the same uplifting and warm feeling. It is rather cute and should become an instant hit with kids. Coutto’s energetic and youthful vocals are the USP of the song while Anvita Dutt Guptan’s optimistic and hopeful lyrics make the song worth your while.

Next up is Raftaarein, a supremely cool track which can only be described as the past clashing with the future in a most fantastical manner. Vishal and Shekhar have created a mind-blowing number that even R D Burman himself would be proud of. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery and an imitation of this calibre can only be termed a true tribute to the legend.

Jiya Mora Ghabraye (The Chase) is another brilliant fusion number from Vishal-Shekhar. Sukwinder Singh singing Indian classical against the backdrop of high-octane electronica is totally rad. Do not be surprised if Vishal-Shekhar are dubbed the Chemical Brothers of India very soon.

The album concludes with three pieces from the film’s background score, Comes the Light, IM On and Song of the End performed to perfection by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. ‘Comes the Light’ is a succinct little summary of the film’s emotions; sinister, powerful, sad, and victorious. ‘IM On’ is the most impressive out of the three and the shortest. It starts with bang, builds up to a brilliant crescendo and ends just as soon as it started. ‘Song of the End’ is a haunting yet beautiful piece of music that makes you soar and fall at the same time. All three thematic pieces have been brilliantly composed and can definitely challenge the likes of John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman.

In summary, Ra.One was definitely worth the wait. Vishal-Shekhar have clearly gone all out on this project. While ‘Dildara’ and ‘Chammak Challo’ are the obvious favourites it is the finer and more edgy compositions like ‘Bhare Naina’, ‘Raftaarein’, ‘Jiya Mora Ghabraye’ and the thematic pieces that take your breath away and give a true account of the talent inside Vishal-Shekhar. ‘Criminal’ and ‘Right By Your Side’, while not outstanding are still decent numbers. At the end of the day the music of Ra.One is massively entertaining so let it entertain you.

Nee Dookudu is perhaps the title and introduction track of Mahesh Babu in the film. The number takes off with energetic start with perfect drumbeats and interludes. Shankar Mahadevan has rendered the song perfectly and Vishwa has penned powerful lyrics to the number which depicts hero’s characterization. Good Start for the album!!!

2.Guruvaram

Here comes a melody track Guruvaram March Okati… which is lyrically and musically pleasing to ears. The lyrics give a romantic and relaxing feel, which is all about the hero falls in love with the leading lady and sings the number recalling her. Though, a soothing number from Thaman, the tune reminds you of O.. Sanam from Veera... Nevertheless, an enjoyable track…

3.Chulbuli Chulbuli

The track starts off energetic way with perfect drum beats. Despite the starting words which are not understandable, Rama Jogayya Sastry penned entertaining and youthful lyrics for the rest maintaining good rhyming words like buli, mali, puli, allibulli etc. Thaman tuned the song in the western style and the drumbeats in the backdrop make the listeners tap their feet.

4.Poovai Poovai

Poovai Poovai is tuned in western style yet brings the mass feel with its lyrics. The track starts off high on energy and this could be the item number where Paravati Melton will be shaking her leg. This is the family song of the album… Thaman has roped in Karthik, along with the lyric writer Ramajogayya Shastry to lend their vocals while the female singers Vardhini, Ranina Reddy, Megha accompanied them. This seems to be the wedding song of the lead pair and it reflects the festive mood. Going with the lyrics, the number recalls ‘Ninne pelladukuni…’ track from Srinu Vytla’s Ready.

Final Verdict

All in all, Thaman has scored a mediocre album for Mahesh’s Dookudu. While the Tollywood biggies are running after him, Thaman is just delivering average albums with less novelty. Though a couple of songs are good in Dookudu, Thaman failed to live upto Mahesh’s fans expectations compared to the Super Star’s earlier outings. Dookudu is not a music album which will stay with music lovers for long, at the same time it is not totally bad either. Do listen to the tracks and you might enjoy few of them…

NTR and Tamanna are pairing up for the first time in the movie ‘Oosaravelli’. The movie has been directed by stylish director Surender Reddy and BVSN Prasad is the Producer. The audio launch of ‘Oosaravelli’ took place yesterday at a glittering function in Shilpa Kala Vedika. Devi Sri has scored the music for this upcoming flick.There are 8 songs in all and 2 of them are bit songs. Let us see how the audio album stacks up.

1.Song: Nenante Naaku

This is a nice and stylish melody that is rendered beautifully by Adnan Sami. Rama Jogayya Sastry’s lyrics are nicely poetic. Pretty good music from Devi Sri is soothing to hear.Stringed instruments and synthesizer work are predominant in this track.This is a classic song that a hero uses to woo a heroine and we can expect some beautiful European locales on screen for this number.Pretty hummable and easily one of the better tracks in the album

2.Song: Niharika Niharika

For me, this song is the pick of the album. Uber cool and instantly likeable, ‘Niharika Niharika’ will be playing in your music systems for a long time.This is a soft and stylish duet.It is Neha Bhasin’s show all the way even though Vijay Prakash does an admirable job. Her voice is literally dripping with emotion and infuses life into the song. Anantha Sriram’s lyrics are pretty good. Devi Sri has come up with a contemporary and chic tune for this song. Wind and percussion instruments dominate this track. Expect some pretty stylish visualization from Surender Reddy and Rasool Ellore with this number.

3.Song: Oosaravelli Theme

Lyrics: Rama Jogayya Sastry& Devi Sri Prasad

This is the Oosaravelli Theme song. It is a short two and half minute number that is dominated by heavy metal music. It remains to be seen how well this track will be utilized by Surender Reddy on screen but not everyone will like this song when listening to it. It definitely will not reach B & C center crowds that form the backbone of NTR’s support base. Ujjainee Roy’s singing is a bit garish but it is in keeping with the music and theme of the song.

4.Song: Sri Anjaneyam

Lyrics: Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry

This song starts off with a short dialogue from NTR. ‘Sri Anjaneyam’ is a 3 minute song that serves as a motivational number. It will most likely come as an inspiration at a time in the story when the hero is faced with very tough circumstances. Siri Vennela Seetarama Sastry is a master lyricist and his words are simple and powerful. MLR Karthikeyan renders this number with enough gusto and conviction to deliver the required emotion that is so critical in such a song. Devi Sri’s music is OK and does a decent job of supporting the lyrics and the emotion.

5.Song: Yelango Yelango

Lyrics: Rama Jogayya Sastry

This song will either make you laugh out loud or make you angry. There will be no middle ground with this kind of unconventional and meaningless lyrics. And probably no one other than Rama Jogayya Sastry can come up with such stuff. This song will however give NTR ample opportunity to showcase his amazing dancing abilities. The music is fast and peppy, in a commercial way. Probably aimed at B & C centers, this song will do its job of keeping them happy. Strictly not for melody lovers.

6.Song: Brathakali

Lyrics: Chandrabose

This is a solo number rendered by Devi Sri himself. ‘Brathakali’ sounds like an extension of the ‘Oosaravelli Theme’ and that is what it probably is. This is the kind of song that is picturized in dark warehouses with a lot of oil drums and sparks flying all around the hero. Nothing to write home about as far as Chandrabose’s lyrics are concerned. A mediocre performance from Devi Sri both in terms of singing as well as music.

7.Song: Dandia India
Artist(s): Mukesh, Suchitra
Lyrics: Anantha Sriram, Suchitra

This is an out and out mass number and once again, the primary aim is to please the B & C center crowds and give NTR a chance to showcase his dancing abilities. Mukesh and Suchitra render this song with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Anantha Sriram’s lyrics are OK and do the job. Devi Sri’s music is peppy and moves along at a fast pace, but it sounds familiar. This song will be quite popular in small towns. Expect a visual feast from Tamanna in this song.

8.Song: Love Ante Caring

Lyrics: Anantha Sriram

This is a solo number and the lyrics of this song justify the title ‘Oosaravelli’. The variable nature of the hero’s behaviour is captured well in Anantha Sriram’s lyrics. Francisco Castelleno does a good job with the rendition. This is a good number to listen to and is one of the better tracks in the album. Expect a humorous and stylish picturization from Surender Reddy onscreen. Good contemporary music from Devi Sri gives the song a very youthful feel.

Verdict : ‘Oosaravelli’ is not a typical NTR album. NTR said that he is trying out something new with ‘Oosaravelli’ and it reflects in the audio album. There are some nice melodies and youthful tracks but there are some mass, commercial numbers as well.The audio tries to play to the strengths of NTR and Surender Reddy. There is ample scope for stylish picturization and room has been left for NTR to showcase his dancing. ‘Niharika Niharika’, ‘Nenante Naaku’,’Dandiya India’ & ‘Love Ante Caring’ are my picks. A pretty decent album overall but definitely not DSP’s best work. Success will depend on choreography and picturization.

Annamalai has very well understood the need of the song and has delivered it with excellent essence.

2.Molachhu Moonu

Lyrics: Vivega

Although Vijay Anthony fluently churns out fast-beat Kuthu numbers, he is always best in delivering some commendable melodies. The only melody in this album and its outstanding. Prasanna and Supriya Joshi have rendered the song with a splendid feeling. It must create more impact with the visuals.

3.Sonna Puriyathu

Vocals: Vijay Anthony, Veera Shankar

Lyrics: Siva Shanmugham

Again, it’s a song meant for Vijay and fans as the opening lines itself implies it. Vijay Anthony had earlier crooned few tracks for Vijay and they were at the best. This one isn’t an exception as it’s sure to create more mania in the theatres. Get ready for the treat from Vijay-Vijay combo.

4.Maayam Seidhayo

Vocals: Sangeetha Rajeshwaran

Lyrics: Vivega

The song sounds like a remix of yesteryear classical old Tamil song. Much more than the voice of Sangeetha Rajeshwaran, it’s the musical accompaniment and chorus that evokes more interests among the listeners. The distorted guitars and drums over the rhythmic panorama make it more appealing.

5.Velayudham

Vocals: Vijay Anthony, Mark

Lyrics: Priyan

The signature song is already famous as we have been hearing them frequently with the teasers. It looks like it will occur throughout the film during the hilarious portions.

6.Chillax

Lyrics:
Here comes the rocking song from Ilayathalapathy and he is gonna take you for a big treat for the frontbenchers. The song has heavy pumping beats and it is surpassing than ‘En Uchi Mandaila’ in Vettaikaaran. Usually Vijay Anthony picks up such tracks, but has gone for a change as Karthik croons the number. Charulatha Mani on the pars gives the right feeling of the song.

On the whole, ‘Velayudham’ has songs that are specially for the fans of Ilayathalapathy. With vigorous promotions and continuous airings on all networks, the songs are sure to reach the peak within short span of time.

Selvaraghavan-Dhanush requires no introduction as their previous films have been colossal that dates back from ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’. Moreover, the musical realms in their movies have been the greatest highlights. ‘Mayakkam Enna’ completely belongs to the Dhanush and Selvaraghavan as the duo brothers have done more than what they usually commit themselves towards their projects. They have swayed to the best with their voices and lyrics.

The album opens with a pumping number that brings us Naresh Iyer in a different style. Usually Naresh Iyer goes for a sweet mellifluous kind of songs. For the first time, we hear him shifting the paradigms and crooning it in a different style. The singer had earlier worked on similar pattern with A.R Rahman’s Telugu song ‘Ammathale’ (Komaram Puli). G.VPrakash Kumar has done an extraordinary job with the mixing of sound, which conduces more to the embellishment of this song.

2. Pirai Thedum

‘Pirai Thedum’ begins with a slow-paced note on fortepianos that slightly resembles the famous theme music of ‘Exorcist’. The vocalizing portions do carry the traces of ‘Anal Mela’ while the rhythmic pattern follows the style of ‘Kadhal Vandhal’ (Iyarkai). More than acclaiming the song to be a superb chemistry between Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay, it’s best to ennoble this number as a splendid stroke by G.V Prakash Kumar and his sweetheart Saindhavi. No wonder, G.V Prakash Kumar is always known for coming up with resplendent melodies and this one isn’t an exception.

The music composer himself is the singer here. And the director is the lyricist. Both give their best, thereby making ‘Maasamaa’ the pick of the lot. The song is an interesting mix of melody and gana. Sathya can make it big as a singer too.

4. Un Perai Theriyaadhu

What’s in a name, they say. But the adage seems to be not applicable for this song, which gets life with Sathya’s tune and Madhushree’s rendition. A romantic number, ‘Un Perai Theriyaadhu…’ seduces one. Listen to it and decide for yourself.

5. Uyir Arunthathae

Sharp and haunting, ‘Uyir Arunthathae…’ has philosophical lines from Saravanan. Sayanora’s rendition is on a high right from the beginning. A lot of instruments have been used by Sathya that makes ‘Uyir Arunthathae’ a musical treat.

The team effort from the director Sarvanan, the music director Sathya and the lyricist Na.Muthukumar has done a wonderful job. The songs are just moderate to be appreciated as from the new comer. Who knows the songs may hit the air with their varied tones and tunes. Though nothing new is in the songs, Sathya is at his helm to prove that he can be relied for more albums.
