One iPhone developer looking to expand the capabilities of the iPhone’s home screen has demonstrated to AppleInsider a working proof-of-concept that implements the Stacks features of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard into the iPhone’s Springboard application.

Appropriately dubbed “Stack,” the project was conceived back in the early days of iPhone hacks through a basic implementation of Mac OS X Leopard’s ‘Stacks’ feature that allows iPhone users to keep a quick-launch list of their applications in their handset’s dock. It was written by Irish developer Steven Troughton-Smith.

The Dev-Team posted on their site yesterday the current status of the iPhone 3GS Jailbreak. In short they state that while a jailbreak currently already exists, they won’t be releasing it quite yet. They still need to figure out a few things and perfect the method of jailbreak before they release the final version. They also state that it’s best if it is not released at this time due to the relatively small number of people that have gotten their new devices as of today. Expect the final version to be released in the somewhat near future, but probably…

Apple has posted an online database to allow potential iPhone 3GS customers in the U.S. to check stock levels for the various models at Apple Retail Stores. Availability is updated at least hourly. Apple deployed similar tools for both the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G, although these previous versions only updated nightly with stock levels for opening the following day.

Apple’s database is currently showing solid availability, with nearly 90% of Apple’s over 200 stores having stock of all four models. Only five stores are completely sold out of all models at the moment.

Google announced today that daily YouTube uploads from mobile devices have increased 400% since the release of the iPhone 3GS last Friday. The iPhone 3GS includes the ability to record video and provides for easy uploading directly to YouTube from within the Camera Roll section of the Photos application.

YouTube also notes, however, that the spike generated by the release of the iPhone 3GS is also the acceleration of a trend that has seen the upload rate grow by 1700% over the past six months.

This growth represents three things coming together: new video-enabled phones on the market, improvements…

12 hours ago the Dev-Team announced that the use of the 24Kpwn exploit, that was originally made for iPod Touch 2G, can in fact be used on the iPhone 3GS! This is great news for anyone who can’t wait to jailbreak/unlock their iPhone 3GS!

What does this mean? Well all in all it means that the current redsn0w tool used for the iPod Touch 2G can also be modified slightly to be used for the 3GS.

The Dev-Team also stated that ultrasn0w will be useable on the iPhone 3GS without any modification whatsoever so as soon as it…

Ultrasn0w was set to come out last Friday but it was pushed back until today. Now the Dev-Team has finally released it in all its glory so those who are on foreign carriers can use the 3.0 software as well.

Here is how to install ultrasn0w:

Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0

Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)

Run Cydia or Icy

Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.

Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or…
