how to wear: ring stack

2013-12-16T17:18:00.000-08:00

While the saying 'more is more' doesn't always ring true, when it comes to accessories, more is better. We're currently obsessing over stacks (and stacks) of rings on our fingers. But there is a fine art to combining just the right rings for your own signature look. Have some fun with it and mix the new with the old, combine metals and stones and juxtapose statement rings with knuckle rings.

style tip

Gather an assortment of rings in similar and varying hues. Midi, statement, knuckle and stacked rings are go-to's for any well-curated jewelry box.

style tip

Start with your largest statement rings and layer on each hand. Then, balance out the look with the rest of the rings and top off with a few midi and knuckle rings. And voilà! You've got your stack on.

Want to do some stacking of your own? Shop our rings!

wrap party: DIY bo-ho-ho gift wrap

2013-12-15T17:32:00.003-08:00

Some gifts are just too good to be wrapped up in ugly holiday paper. You've already bought a little something for all the babes on your list, so now it's time for the presentation. Grab some feathers, glitter and lace for this gift wrap DIY to keep the Bo-Ho-Ho spirit rolling.

stuff you'll need:

craft paper

metallic paint

glitter + feathers

clear tape

prezzies ready to be wrapped

paint brush

lace + ribbon

Sharpies

how to:

1. Wrap your prezzies using the craft paper and the clear tape.

2. Paint the feather tips using the paint brush and metallic paint.

3. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle the glitter on top. Let dry for a few minutes.

4. Tie the ribbon or lace around the wrapped gift.

5. Tuck the feathers into the tie and sign with a Sharpie. Boom!

pb muse: ali mitton

2013-12-13T12:00:00.000-08:00

Considering that Instagram is our current obsession, it's no surprise that we were instantly smitten with photog and dreamer, Ali Mitton, when we stumbled across her snaps. We've been trailing the pb muse across the globe - from Australia, to NYC and now to our LA hood - to get the inside scoop of the wunderkind's jetset life.

How did you get started?

I've been shooting since I was about 16. I took a photography class in high school and loved it.

What makes an image iconic to you?

I love the work of Ryan Mcginley, anything spontaneous, raw and real - images that breathe!

What are you most inspired by?
I find that inspiration mostly comes from the situations I'm in and the people I'm around. Also environments - love my rugged landscapes, the mountains and the sea. Lately I've been stripping everything back, shooting film and keeping it real.

Any locales you love to shoot at?

Northern New South Wales, [the] Californian coastline, and India

If you could have any other career, what would you be doing?

I'd like to get more involved in creative direction and production! If I were to leave the scene all together though, I'd probably do social work or psychology.

Tell us something that not a lot of people know about you.

I'm always losing my shoes. I kick them off at any chance I get and often leave without them. I have shoes scattered across the globe. I'd be barefoot all the time if it were socially acceptable.

Describe your style with 5 words.

minimal // boyish // bohemian // effortless // overalls

Got any style tips to share with our PB babes?

Always dress comfortably- that way you can climb trees, run really fast or break dance at any moment. Comfortable and confident = mega classy babe.

What is the first thing you want to do when you get to LA?

SHOOT! I'm dying to shoot there!

What are you most excited about for the holidays?

It's my first white christmas and my first Christmas in America. I get to spend it with my wonderful boyfriend and his lovely family in boston. Can't wait!

What can we expect from you next?

So much fun stuff coming! I'm leaving the NYC grind for a sunnier existence in California and couldn't be more excited to explore new shoot locations and make new friends. Also, lots of roadtrips and international shooting. Hooray!

#pblifeoftheparty muse: Brandy Redd

2013-12-05T12:00:00.000-08:00

Model and #pblifeoftheparty Brandy Redd has got the model/actress/it girl look down pat. We sat down with the babe of the moment to find out her ultimate crazy nights (you'll want to keep reading for her answer) and what her holiday plans are. Get to know her...

What's your signature look?

Black on black on black. Black tights, black jeans, old vintage t-shirt and a black leather jacket.

What's your secret spot in LA?
I am a huge fan of the Korean Spa, Natura. Theres is nothing better than a massage and a good ol' scrub down to make you feel rejuvenated.

How are you spending the holidays?
I usually spend the holidays sledding in Ohio with my family or ice skating in NYC. However this year I will be staying in LA rehearsing a play that I am producing! Keeping it artsy.

What's your New Years resolution?
I don't do New Years resolutions. I just don't like to set myself up for failure.

Where do you like to eat and drink in LA?
One of my fav spots is Black Market Liquor. You can find me there from time to time drinking a bourbon and eating some fish right off the bone. :) mmmm

What's your theme song?
Goin up the Country by Canned Heat!

Best pick up line
"You wanna run lines together for auditions?" (...they never want to just run lines)

What's one of the craziest things you've done?
I spent 2 weeks on a yacht in the South of France with people I barely knew. It was a free vacation and they flew me out on a private jet. The best part was when Busta Rhymes showed up to give us a private concert for someone's birthday. I jumped on stage and sang backup for him all night while we took shots of tequila. BUSTA IS THE SHIT!

What would the title of your autobiography be?
I lived. I died. Details inside.
