Extra Income means an income that you can earn apart from the regular income coming in from employment or normal work. This earning can be used to payoff your outstanding debts or build up a capital account or spend it on luxuries that you could only think about before. Everyone seems to want a second income but no one wants to work a second job, so the extra income is normally seen as a windfall.

When we compare income levels in different countries, it is evident that the average income per person is less than $15,000 a year--in other words, where many people are near the breadline -- Extra Income really does make people happier and improves their lifestyle.

But countries which have average income above the normal subsistence level of approximately $15,000 a year, happiness seems to be income independent. For example, an average American ranks richer than an average Indian or an Austrian, but also less happy.

Why does this happen? People always look at their income relatively with some norm or the other and the norm keeps rising all the time. And this norm is what increases the spending, more or less in direct proportion to the income. Two things drive up the norm with which people compare their incomes. One is the income that they themselves have experienced -- which habituates them to higher standards of living. And the other is the income that their colleagues or neighbors get, and which they try to outdo.

The extra income options available today are targeted to generate employment and are targeted specifically at people who can use their skills that are lying dormant to make some more money for themselves. To achieve a moderate success in generating an extra income one should be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. This would greatly help in selection of a most suitable way to generate extra income.

The selection process consists of logical steps. Firstly one should ask themselves of an honest opinion of their strengths, what they excel at? What do people around them keep complimenting or criticizing them on?, are they perfectionists?, For example, if you are a computer literate you could help your neighborhood in upgrades, repairs or installation of software.

The extra income can also be augmented by doing extra seasonal chores like raking leaves in the fall or clearing snow in winters. These are just a few ideas, but making an extra income augmented with self analysis will take away the need for a second job.

State Farm announced its plans to integrate a new monitoring device, called In-Drive, into its Drive Safe & Save Plan. Currently, participants in the plan get discounts only for having low mileage. But use of the In-Drive device would give the insurer access to driving data and consumers access to discounts for displaying safe driving habits. The program will be available only in Illinois in 2011 but will be expanded in 2012.
Though Hurricane Irene did wreak serious havoc on parts of the East Coast, it is expected to cause much less damage than was initially forecast. State Farm reported having more than 4,400 auto claims spread out over 12 states and D.C. as of noon on Tuesday.

My Review about BUM marketing

My Review

Let me start off by saying that the information in this course is pretty good. Nothing exceptional but pretty informative. It's priced well, at $29, which is a good thing since you can find much of the same information in free ebooks.

My biggest issues with this course are: The recordings are substandard at best. The volume is low on most of the videos, the course creator is really tough to listen to since he speaks low anyway and finds it necessary to actually clear his throat about every 30 seconds! I think it's more of a "tick" things than a necessity but very irritating to listen to for 15 hours anyway!

One other issue is that the course creator rambles on and wastes time in his narration and constantly makes errors in his speaking which only adds to the irritation of listening to the recordings.

He also has an ebook he strongly suggests you read before you go through the videos since it will help you understand better. Personally, I see absolutely no benefit from the ebook titled "Conversation with Travis".

The book is a fictional tale of a single mom trying to make money so she can stay home with the kids, interwoven with tips on making money using BUM Marketing. Personally I see no benefit from reading it before viewing the videos.

I have to be honest and say that BUM Marketing, which this course is about, is a pretty straight forward marketing system. I think BUM Marketing is great and it is what I am currently using.

However, you really get this information in ebook form for a very low cost as well or even free. I actually got a hold of free BUM Marketing books that go through most of what the 4 Day Blueprint does!

In summary, the course is OK-ish. I rate it a "B" just because it is decent information, albeit basic enough to get it free pretty simply. If he had transcribed the course into PDF format, I may have rated it higher because the recordings are so substandard as to make the course "un-buyable" and it would be better off read.

Becoming an entrepreneur means more than just getting an idea and finding the financing to do it. Running a business on your own requires skill and knowledge. The question is what skills and knowledge? Do you really need an MBA? Stories abound about entrepreneurs who have set up and run a business without a college degree, some without even finishing high school. Are they the exception or is being an entrepreneur an art that you either have or don't have?

While there is no definitive answer to any of these questions, enough educational programs exist to indicate that a considerable number of people believe that establishing a successful business requires a learnable set of skills and knowledge. Even creativity can be nurtured. Having been down that path myself, I tend to agree, even though there are some intangibles that entrepreneurs possess that are not teachable. In my book you can't be an entrepreneur without those intangibles, but you may not be a successful one without the skills and knowledge component.

Looking at what is taught, there is a tremendous spectrum of knowledge being covered. The degree programs usually include the standard financial and managerial accounting, statistics, economics, strategy, management, marketing, finance, technology, and business law courses required by most business schools. To graduate with an emphasis in entrepreneurship, at least one course is required which covers the essentials of starting a business including writing a business plan. Additional coursework in small business management, negotiation, high technology or global business may also be included.

Other programs - high school, community college, continuing education, special purpose seminars - emphasize more practical aspects of running a business. Some teach how to find financing, others creativity or internet applications. The one common factor in every program is learning how to write a good business plan. But that can't be all that there is to being an successful entrepreneur (although it does indicate just how important knowing how to write a good business plan is). Which of these areas are necessities that you need to either learn yourself or partner with someone who has these skills or knowledge. And note that I have said partner, not hire, someone with these skills or knowledge. The necessities someone in charge, preferably you, needs to know or you are setting yourself up for problems down the road.

While this may seem like a long list, each is critical to running a business successfully. All are covered in the Small Business Channel of About. The Small Business Administration provides courses and materials in each of these skills. Interestingly, a number of them are not covered in many business degree programs so just because you have a degree, don't feel you can give these items short shrift. What many business degrees cover are what I label "useful extras," items that a nice to have in your bag of tricks, but aren't crucial to the success of the business.

Once you have the necessities in place, you should be able to make any business a success. However, your education should not stop there. There are plenty of other areas of knowledge that it is useful to have in your pocket to pull out when you need them - or to give yourself new perspectives on some of the challenges you face. For starters, there is always more to learn about the necessities themselves. Keep hands on in how they are managed in your business, meaning you may hire a bookkeeper or subcontract it out, but go over the books regularly yourself - and continue learning more about current bookkeeping practices.
