Here’s my temporary space. I moved all these from my office. This way the moving folks won’t be confused and accidently pack any of these up when they stop by next week.

To the left is my work computer and to the right is my photo studio. The Dell (2209WA — IPS screen <– best type of monitor screen for graphic/photography work) is hooked up to the Macbook Pro (13″ — it’s a great size for traveling). The MPB is in clamshell mode. Basically you can have the lid closed while hooked up to an external monitor. The older model used to warp due to the heat. The new models are not suppose to do that. I hope so!!

My tablet is an Intuos3 6×8. I LOVE it! I have a 12×19 at work but obviously I don’t (and will never) have enough desk real estate for such a thing. I love the 6×8 because I can stick it in a laptop bag if I need to.

Today I have a lot more crap around my desk. I have my camera, a work EHD, a work Flip, and some CDs.

My only complaint are all the cables. They are driving me NUTS!!!

For our move we’re allowed a total of 11k pounds of stuff to be moved. There are three parts to it… the big motherlode (55-60 days to get there), unaccompanied baggage (40-45 days, up to 350# for anybody age 12+ and 175 for under 12, and no furniture), and luggage that you take on the airplane (two carry-on and two suitcase at 70#/ea.). If needed you can also have storage and transport. So if we want to keep our washer and dryer we can store it for free as long as we’re within our 11k pounds. The same with transport. If I want my mother-in-law to take care of our vintage stereo we can arrange it so that a moving company does that for us. Oh, there’s one more thing… you can mail things yourself too. I want to mail our important documents that are not too hard to find replacements over to the UK. I can do that and as long as we haven’t gone over the 11k pound limit the Air Force will reimburse us. Now, see the black bag and the tote? I think I’m going to mail them a few days before we get on an airplane he he he…

The above is my part of unaccompanied baggage. My 350# will consist of clothes, craft stuff, pots and pans, and a computer. My craft room and kitchen’s ready to go. I have clothes to tackle still… I need to get rid of a few more things.

I was working on something on the computer that night. I know that one day this is going to catch up to me but for now I really don’t care because I still have my wonderful metabolism, I need the calories cause I’m still nursing, and I do work out every other day with the P90X. I quit doing it everyday because I couldn’t keep up with the eating… it effected my ability to make enough milk for Jovie.

I really don’t need Microsoft Office but since we got it from hubby’s work for $20 (home use program), why not. The apps I do need are: Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver (it’s nice to work in education, education prices are so much less for Adobe products). I use the other apps in the CS4 Adobe Suite but not as much as the ones I mentioned. I purchased my laptop from B&H. It was cheaper for me than buying from Apple, even with the student discount, due to tax. Also, B&H included Parallel with the purchase. Not bad!

I am now up and running again. Goodness, you never know how good you’ve got it in terms of technology until all your computers break down on the same week! My iMac is ok again. I need to pick it up from the Apple store.

After looking, pondering, looking, pondering, looking, pondering… you get the picture… I finally went and got the fastest 13″ laptop that Apple has to offer right now. I was flip-flopping between this and the 15″ but after visiting the Apple store a few times and thinking about all the stuff I’d be carrying I opted for the 13″. I have a desktop already and I do want something light to travel with. I would have gone with a netbook if it had more memory but due to my needs for power I went ahead and paid a little bit more.
