Borough of Charnwood – Group Leader Plans, Policy & Place making

PO4 (SCP 47 49)
£39,855 up to £41,616 – 37 hours per week
+ Essential Car User Allowance

About us:

Charnwood Borough sits within the three cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. One third of the 167,000 population live in the thriving university town of Loughborough, with most of the remaining two thirds within the small towns and villages of the Wolds, the Soar and Wreake Valleys, Charnwood Forest and on the edge of Leicester.

There is a challenging agenda for growth but the council is committed to driving forward its new local plan. As part of this it is considering proposals for a number of large sustainable urban extensions as well as an extension to the existing Loughborough University Science & Enterprise Park. It is expected that a submission draft will be published before the end of the year.

About the role:

Following the retirement of the existing post holder, the Planning and Regeneration Service requires an enthusiastic, motivated and organised planning professional with significant recent experience in the preparation of local development frameworks to lead the Plans, Policy and Place Making Group and its approach to localism. This role includes the day to day management of the LDF, economic regeneration, sustainability, conservation and landscape functions and will make an important contribution to the Management Team for the Service.

You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people and work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision, exercising tact and diplomacy at all times. The role will require you to deal with complex planning and regeneration issues and to develop creative solutions.
