What is “Training” and what is “Support”?

This was posted in our support section but I thought it was important enough to blog it because it’s the heart of our PlanSwift family.

You Download PlanSwift free demo for 14 days, then you will get a call sometime in the next day or two from one of our support reps that talks to you about the following (You can also contact us at 1-888-752-6794 option 1 for training or demo for instant help).

Training:
The sessions are normally scheduled for 1 hour blocks. The session is a live link where you are talking on the phone and sharing your screen with an experienced trainer on how to use PlanSwift or how to customize PlanSwift to your company needs.

Normally they build a few parts to show you how to make your templates to calculate what you need for your business. While they make the Template materials, labor, or parts the trainer will teach you how to make your own parts the way you want the takeoff items to calculate what you are trying to calculate.

For Example:
If you are a “Drywall” company we will show you how to calculate drywall with your templates.
If you are a “Concrete” company we will show you how to calculate concrete with your templates.

Support:
Support is for if something is wrong or displaying errors with the PlanSwift program.

Support reps know about the program and how it works and how to fix it if there are issues. If the support rep isn’t able to fix the issue they will create a ticket for a developer to take a look at and determine how to resolve the issue, the customer is then contacted and the fix explained.

For Example:

• PlanSwift will not open.
• PlanSwift isn’t activating.
• Not able to open jobs on the network storage location.
• Power goes out while you had a job open corrupting the job files.

It took about 11 years for most homes to invite the TV into the living room, remember when they called the cell phone a “brick” we look back now and it actually is compared to what we have today.

In an instant we can check email, update our status on face book, create word document stored in the cloud on Google docs, read the latest steamy romance novel from our Amazon Kindle account, track our every move or have a nice lady tell us how to get somewhere with our navigation package, and on and on, oh yea I forgot we can also answer a call on the same device.

Why talk about cell phones on a contractor based platform?

Because PlanSwift is in the same area.

How many people still pull out the ruler a sharp pencil and a calculator and spend hours sometimes days to figure out how many square feet of sheet rock they will need, how many 2×4’s should I order, carpet, how many yards, if I can cover this many square feet with a gallon of paint how many gallons should I buy “I really don’t want an extra 20 gallons of pink lemonade on hand, don’t think there will be a call for this color again.”

1. The inside or “core” of the pyramid roughly cut block stabilized with gypsum mortar that doesn’t even bind the block together, it’s more of a “filler” to keep the blocks positioned correctly.

3. They could have used copper chisels but none have been found on site to date and definitely no iron tools available on the market yet.
4. Water in trenches for leveling (possibility).
5. Pounding with dolerite, drilling and cutting with quartz sand as an abrasive.
6. Moving materials as heavy as 60 tons or more.
7. Exterior aligned with specific objects to incredibly accurate placement.
8. Interior, a labyrinth of mazes, hidden rooms, air shafts, shafts pointing in specific directions to possibly view celestial objects at a specific time of year.

The list goes on concerning the difficulty each so called department had to do, similar to what we experience when we build a home now, there’s a roofer, a framer, an electrician, a sheet rocker just to name a few of the subs that have to take into consideration just like the above tools and materials, how much do they need of what kind of materials and where its positioned?

Now days in consideration of the pyramid builders plans are drawn up using specialized software and emailed out to the sub contractors that have been hired to do a certain part of the job, that’s good news, its work, its money.  Now you have to take building plans that were drawn up by an architect that might have a different vision than you do and being accurate in what your part of the pyramid building is completely crucial.

I have worked in the construction area for a long time; we get clients all the time wanting “quotes”.

I understand the wanting a quote and all but for us that meant work, the customer only has to call and ask for a quote then send you the blueprints, you’re the one that has to take the blueprints they provide and from there calculate all the materials you would need to do the job.

Now days “bids” are much closer than ever, you’ve got the guy that has a ton of business so he just takes the blueprints and comes up with a number in his head, he doesn’t care if it’s high or not because he’s already busy.

You have the “low bidder” someone that does a bit more looking at the material it would take and an estimate of labor hours it would take to do this job, usually based off of past experiences, there’s a huge possibility that he might cut his own throat and actually go bankrupt in the right circumstances, if there are “difficulties” or his bid was so low that now the material in the last 30 days has gone up 3%, not much, just enough to make him lose any profit that was going to come in, so basically he’s just kept his guys fed while he struggles.

There is a better way.

Estimating technology remains among the most viable investments in the construction industry today. Results of the most recent Constructech survey are indicative of this trend, showing 63% of construction professionals consider this technology to be of high priority.

As for functionality, the latest version emphasizes digitizing, allowing users to quickly digitize various sections of a plan with the click of a mouse, helping to speed the overall digitizing process. There are now two methods for digitizing for linear—there is the click and point, which most users are accustomed to using, as well as clicking and dragging your mouse. The latter helps digitize individual segments while you are on a linear object

Take pouring a sidewalk as an example, because the base lay of material will not be perfectly flat and solid the amount of cement on top to create a smooth level walkway will vary. If the base was laid well the variance should not be much, but is the foundation is off the cement thickness will vary greatly.
