🐴 School’s Day Out - Have a Hay Day

School's out on the farm! Come have a hay day with us at Lockwood Park! Join us for outdoor games (weather permitting), crafts, animal interactions, and a movie and hot chocolate to warm up! Hands-on lessons will include interaction with horses, ponies, or other farm animals.

Our indoor golf practice center includes a driving range and a putting green to work on your short game during the winter months. All ages are welcome; under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Leagues are: Co-Rec Thursdays, Women’s Wednesdays, and Men's Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, all scheduled to play at Mercyhealth Sportscore One in Rockford, IL. A Wednesday league is also offered for players ages 50 and over.

Spring/summer league 12-game play begins the week of April 28, 2024, and ends with a weekend tournament.

Entry fees for spring/summer leagues are $450 for women’s, and $550 for all other leagues.

All entry fees are due at registration, which will close April 12, 2024, if capacity has not been reached sooner.

These drop-in activities are held year-round, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., excluding holidays and special events; no pre-registration is needed. Admission per person, per session is $2 for walking, and $6 for basketball, pickleball, volleyball, table tennis, and disc golf.

An 11-punch discount card is available for each scheduled drop-in sport, and a 13-punch discount pass is available for walking.

Birdie Buddies

Our Birdie Buddies program offers two levels for the beginning junior golfer.

Programs are held Monday evenings in January, February, and March at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

🏌️ Lil' Eagles | Ages 4-5

This program will offer instruction on the fundamentals of golf using fun games and teaching aids.

🏌️ Adventuring Albatross | Ages 6-8

Golfers will learn basic skills as they build confidence and self-esteem through fun and creative techniques.

Ace the Academy

Our Ace the Academy program offers three levels for young golfers to master, as well as a Winter Golf Academy.

Programs are held Tuesday evenings in January, February, and March at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

🏌️ Junior Introduction | Ages 9-14, 15-18

We’ll introduce the basics in putting, chipping, and full swing, and cover safety and etiquette like where to stand, sportsmanship, and more.

🏌️ Junior Development | Ages 9-14, 15-18

This lesson program takes what your Junior has learned about putting, chipping, and full swing and develops these skills further. We’ll be introducing pitching as well as the rules of golf, proper club selection, and golf course situations, and bunker play. Golfers will have an opportunity to get on the championship-level course and ask questions.

🏌️ Junior Elite | Ages 15+

High school and college players can maintain their game throughout the winter and summer, as well as take it to the next level. The program will cover speed, agility, fitness, course management, and golf swing analytics. Each participant will be given a practice plan and will be tested and taught on TrackMan.

🏌️ Lloyd McWilliams Winter Golf Academy | Ages 8-19

This academy not only trains individuals on their golf game, but also helps prepare them for life and golf through mental and physical training. Each week includes various training segments. Each week's lesson will include three segments: classroom, full swing, and short game or stretching. The classroom session will include rules instruction, goal setting, and power of positive thinking as well as golf course or life strategy. This program was developed by Rockford Park District's Lloyd McWilliams more than 10 years ago, and has impacted many local high school golfers and middle school players to make it to the next level.

This camp is offered Wednesday evenings in January, February, and March at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

🏌️ Adult Group Lessons | Ages 18+

Our Golf Professional will help you with the fundamentals, or we’ll help you take those last few strokes off your score to break 100, 90, 80 or even 70. Each golfer will be given one or two things they can work on with their own golf swing. Our team will mold the lesson to help each individual golfer with their own golf game. Not every golfer needs the same grip or swing. Our team will analyze each golfer’s particular swing, and help them improve using techniques that are specific to their golf game.

Lessons are held Monday evenings in January, February, and March at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

🏌️ Adult Golf Camp | Ages 18+

During this four-day camp, we will cover the basic fundamentals of a golf swing, golf course strategy and management, and provide an in-depth video analysis of your swing.

This camp is Monday - Thursday mornings in January and February at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

Indoor Golf Practice Center

The Indoor Golf Practice Center at Rockford Park District’s Mercyhealth Sportscore Two Indoor Sports Center (ISC) in Loves Park is open through March 29, 2024, and offers a driving range as well as a putting green where golfers can work on their short game during the off-season. All ages are welcome; those under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The practice center is closed Saturdays and Sundays, on observed holidays, and during special events at ISC.

The fee is $8 per bucket of golf balls (45-50 balls); bucket sales end 45 minutes prior to practice center closing time.

Memberships are available for $115 per month, and include use of the practice range and short game area (two buckets maximum per day, one issued at a time).

Group sessions for ages 3-adult of various skill levels are held year-round, and meet at Carlson Ice Arena in Loves Park.

For first-time skaters ages 18 months to two years, Baby Blades provides off-ice play and an on-ice lesson for six weeks on Thursday evenings, with required helmets provided, if needed.

Among ice skating programs offered for ages 3-16 are: First Strides, where first-time skaters will increase their confidence on the ice, and Super Strides, where students enhance their skills through games and fun. Lessons meet once a week for 30 minutes, either Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings, with skates and helmets provided if needed.

Pre-Hockey lessons for ages 3-16 provide an introduction to the sport to prepare players for the Park District’s Junior IceHogs Fundamental Hockey League. Minor Hawks for ages 3-16 serves as a transition from lessons to the Junior IceHogs Fundamental Hockey League. Hockey lessons meet once a week for 40 minutes, either Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons; full hockey gear is recommended.

There’s three levels of fun for the bigger kids and a tiny tots area for the little ones.
