As he continues his MVP-caliber season, James has been a workhorse for the Cavs, who boast the best record in the NBA and are in great position to wrap up the year as the overall number one seed.  Before rolling his ankle against the Detroit Pistons last week, James was leading the league in scoring and also averaging more than seven rebounds and eight assists per game.  To put those numbers into perspective, only five top-tier point guards in the league are averaging more assists than James, who is the only small forward in the top 30.  James is doing everything for a Cavs team that now has a fairly well-balanced squad, complete with two scorers in Jamison and Moe Williams to go along with the most dominate player in the NBA when LeBron suits up.

Not only does sitting LeBron give the Cavs’ best player significant rest heading into the playoff push, it also gives Brown some time to evaluate the rest of the team.  Brown already knows that all of the players can score when LeBron is on the floor, due to LeBron’s freakish abilities to see passing lanes in addition to scoring himself, but this gives him more of an opportunity to see who can create their own shot and carry the Cavs when LeBron is on the bench.

Despite losing to the Bucks, Brown and the rest of the Cavs were reminded that Jamison is capable of being a very strong scorer if he has to be the number one scoring option.  Jamison put up 30 points while shooting only 18 times from the field.  Adding 11 rebounds and five steals, Jamison easily had his best overall game as a Cavalier, giving his new teammates an opportunity to see the type of game he brings to the floor when LeBron isn’t there to run the offense.

Also posting a big game in LeBron’s absence against the Bucks was guard Delonte West, who put up 27 points on 11 of 18 shooting and was a spark plug off the bench.  If the Cavs want to have a chance at capturing a title over deep Western Conference teams like the Lakers, Mavericks or Utah Jazz, players like West will be called upon to provide solid bench scoring.  The days of winning a title with one superstar carrying the load are clearly over, and no matter how dominant LeBron is on the court the rest of the team needs to step up and play important roles during their title run.  As they continue to move closer to their championship hopes, Cleveland Cavaliers tickets will only increase in popularity as they look to wrap up the number one slot in the Eastern Conference.

With Zydranus Ilgauskas likely to return to the team sometime soon and Shaquille O’Neal set to make it back to the court early in the playoffs, the Cavs may just have a deep enough team to bring LeBron his first NBA championship.  Though no one in Cleveland wants to see LeBron sit for very long, it appears that the Cavs for the first time have a well-rounded team that can at least compete on a nightly basis without him.  With contributors like Jamison, West and Moe Williams, LeBron has his deepest and most talented overall team, which will pay tremendous dividends come the postseason.  And if LeBron can play that well without ever getting a day off to rest his legs, just imagine him with a full head of steam.
