<title>Murder Party</title>

<itunes:summary>We realize that some of our listeners might detest the cynicism of our show, so this week we decide to turn over a new leaf and accentuate the positive!

First, we learn to trust total strangers and accept an invitation to a MURDER PARTY! We believe in our immune system to protect us from the devilish effects of absinthe. We kindly inform the level-headed people on the internet that everything Rare ever made (excluding Killer Instinct) was stupid and awful, and expect them to take our comments gracefully. Finally, we explain how to use forged checks and counterfeit money for fun and profit, and somewhere in between all that soul-searching, we even found time to play some games this week.

00:12 -- You've got an invitation to a MURDER PARTY!!!
05:15 -- Still didn't see Indy, but Arrested Development is still awesome.
09:10 -- "24", never better, or worst season?
14:20 -- Whipping skills.
17:45 -- Haw haw, remember that human tetris show from a year ago? That's still hilarious, right?
19:10 -- Kicking back with the green fairy.
21:55 -- Reminiscing about Club Vandersexxx
24:05 -- We approve of the new Chun Li.
28:00 -- Taking the piss out of Rare, and pissing off fanboys in the process.
30:30 -- Is that a No. 2 pencil in your pocket?
32:15 -- Breaking into prison.
35:15 -- Much, much love for Half-Life mods.
39:15 -- Trust me, STALKER really is fun.
48:50 -- Murder Party invitations and chastity belt keys.
51:30 -- On the subject of counterfeit money and blank checks.

<title>F*ck You, Pay Us.</title>

<itunes:summary>Goodfellas is ALWAYS relevant.

This week's show features a whole bunch of gaming discussion, including a mini review of LDW's latest entry into the Virtual Villagers series. Spoiler alert - it's really good. Amazingly, even though Lost and Battlestar Galactica took the week off, the boys still manage to talk about them.

Also, Anthony and Nikolai delve into the whole debate over voice acting and residuals. It's a pretty big topic and most people have no idea what they're talking about, so check out Nikolai's article on Kombo to get smart.

The Play it Loud! in Spaaaaaaace saga continues...

00:00:30 -- Vice City memories and GTA talk
00:06:09 -- Without Lost and Battlestar, does P-Lo exist?
00:08:24 -- Play it Loud, sponsored by Netflix
00:10:42 -- We talk about Lost and BSG, even though they took the week off.
00:18:57 -- Roman History class is now in session.
00:20:34 -- Virtual Villagers - The Secret City
00:38:52 -- The "Tycoon" franchise isn't actually a franchise... and dinosaurs.
00:43:50 -- From Narnia to Santa to midgets and beyond.
00:45:30 -- Drinks, drugs, and hats.
00:50:05 -- The GTAIV voice acting saga.
00:58:30 -- 90-minute cutscenes in MGS4?
01:07:30 -- Starting to wrap things up...
01:13:00 -- We haven't seen Indy 4 yet
01:17:03 -- Still trying to give away those gifts.
01:19:47 -- Redeeming tickets for prizes.

<title>Back from Africa</title>

<itunes:summary>Houston, we've got a problem.

At 12:48 AM PST, two men armed with AK-47s and plutonium hijacked a rocket ship and blasted off into outer space. Six hours later, we received a message from the culprits, who identified themselves as "The Handmade Koala" and "Genius Camel". They offered to return the ship and deliver fourteen 80-minute podcasts about film and video games in exchange for Hilary Duff, Scarlett Johansson, and 12 cases of Bling H20. Unfortunately, we don't have any choice but to give these self-proclaimed "freedom fighters" what they want.

00:00:28 -- Formal introductions, for once
00:03:38 -- Tales of the break
00:11:41 -- P-Lo fan fiction, where is it?
00:13:32 -- Speaking of Lost...
00:19:20 -- Nikolai's worried about the next season of Heroes
00:22:18 -- BSG: Season 4... more disappointment.
00:23:44 -- From podcast to hip-hopera
00:26:00 -- Dolemite Explosion and much, much more...
00:34:43 -- Try this at home!!!
00:37:06 -- WiiWare is surprisingly awesome.
00:40:15 -- We tried to keep the GTAIV talk to a minimum
00:44:46 -- Thoughts on the MGO Beta and its awful timing.
00:51:53 -- "Speaking of things that don't work so well..."
01:59:03 -- EURO 2008 - totally awesome. Buy it!!
01:03:58 -- Virtual Villagers creates the Nobel Prize winners of Tomorrow.
01:10:28 -- That last contest didn't work out so well.
01:12:05 -- No, we didn't forget Indy... But, we're worried.

<title>Going Commando</title>

<itunes:summary>Season Five has been a crazy, wild ride, but it's finally come to a close. Thankfully, we end with a bang.

This week, we discuss the crazy adventures of our old webmaster, back when our show was a Nintendo Revolution podcast...boy, how times have changed. "Whatcha' been Watchin'?" is a backlog of "Commando", "The Beat that My Heart Skipped", and "Kung Fu Hustle". Moving on to games, we go on a rollercoaster ride from the giddy heights of Super Stardust HD Solo, down to the aggravating lows of installing the MGO beta. Then we top it off with our announcement of the (two!) winners of the Play it Loud: Season Five contest, and give you an idea of what to expect when Play it Loud: In Spaaaaaaaace! drops on May 20th.

Oh hey, remember how music CDs in the 90s would always have a "secret song"? Just making conversation...

00:00:20 -- "Your show, minus your beginnings and ends, is awesome."
00:03:30 -- The Adventures of Ramsey Kobeissi
00:05:45 -- The season's over? Weeeeeeeird.
00:13:15 -- ZOMG, the Commando episode!
00:21:00 -- Kung Fu Hustle, and a million other Chinese movies.
00:24:45 -- "The Beat That My Heart Skipped"...can be skipped.
00:29:45 -- It turns out we both love Marky Mark.
00:31:45 -- Uh, BSG SPOILARS?
00:37:45 -- More Stardust! Not Stardust, the movie of the same name, or Stardust, the Amiga game of the same name, but Super Stardust HD!
00:48:15 -- And on top of all that, it's delayed!
00:56:00 -- Must...match...colors...
00:59:00 -- Liberty City ain't no Paradise City
01:02:45 -- PRIZES! And if that weren't enough we have ADDITIONAL PRIZES!
01:09:30 -- Planning for Season Six
01:16:20 -- The End....or IS IT?

<title>Less is More</title>

<itunes:summary>As the finale of Season 5 draws ever closer, you'd naturally assume we'd become retrospective and become more focused.

Wrong!

In one of our rare, under-an-hour episodes, we manage to cover an unusually diverse -- even for us -- range of titles, such as our developing love of triple-threat Zooey Deschanel, Play it Loud's unexpected use in a Viennese techno anthem, Bollywood films, Orangina, and the mind-bending plot of the Metal Gear franchise.

Oh yeah, and we pimp our upcoming Dualshock 3 feature for Kombo. We're not saying that you're not a true fan if you don't read it, but...well, I don't know what else to say.

Show Notes:

00:10 -- Our newest guilty pleasure: She and Him, Volume One
01:45 -- Play it Loud! tearing up the German rave scene.
03:50 -- Two of our favorite things: Blokeymon and Orangina
06:45 -- Ah...self-congratulation.
11:00 -- Play it Loud: Live from Bollywood, with even more dance numbers!
13:00 -- The Podcast Forum: Wild and un-motherfkin'-censored!
16:30 -- Arguments over movies get ugly.
19:00 -- Darwinism wins out in "Grizzly Man"
24:30 -- Why is my controller shaking?!
31:15 -- The Play it Loud! Mansion grand opening: Ladies drink free!
33:15 -- Seven years later...and we still don't get Metal Gear Solid 2.
44:05 -- An abrupt end.

<title>Back to Civilization</title>

<itunes:summary>Frack! Did you know that Gaius Baltar listens to Play it Loud while getting it on with Number Six? It's true, the man can't get it up without the sweet sounds of Anthony, Nikolai, and the P-Lo Jazz Section coming at him in faux-stereo. Seriously though, Battlestar is back with a vengeance and in a totally uncharacteristic move, we talk about it.

Here's three reasons why you should listen this week;
	1) Where else are you going to find people still talking about Civ. 4?
	2) The boys share some world exclusive "World of Sports" beta impressions.
	3) We're in no way affiliated with Chris Cagle.

Tune in for some Grammy Award nominated podcasting awesomeness.

Show Notes:

00:00:30 -- High on MILF weed
00:06:25 -- Return of the King: BSG back on TV (major spoilers!!!)
00:16:40 -- Contrary to popular belief, Chris Cagle is an impostor
00:19:35 -- Nikolai: Battle of Agincourt > Harry Potter
00:25:05 -- Pour a 40 on the curb for Charlton Heston.
00:27:00 -- More Sci-Fi talk.... we're so cool.
00:28:55 -- "Speaking of small people...."
00:32:15 -- Uncharted sans rumble.... and more Burnout Paradise.... again.
00:40:15 -- YES!!! We got into the beta for "Empire of Sports"
00:48:30 -- The longest Civ. 4 conversation of all time.
01:01:00 -- Prey was definitely worth $5.
01:05:30 -- Contest notes, Thanks for the new reviews in iTunes, and another stellar ending.

<title>It's Showtime</title>

<itunes:summary>This episode is so totally not brought to you by Netflix and GamingLagoon...but we're still working on that Bling H2O endorsement deal.

This week, we skip the news again, because, dude, you guys already know all that stuff. We know you really keep coming back for our thoughts on premium cable shows like "Sleeper Cell" and "The Wire", our slowly-developing romance with the 4X strategy game genre (oh yeah, there's a LOT of Rome: Total War talk this week :P) and a surprisingly lively conversation about a shooter you may have played on 360 two years ago.

As far as NEW stuff is concerned, keep on the lookout for our upcoming feature on the lovely, Ceramic White Dualshock 3s we'll be getting, and find out why Nikolai, after weeks of hype, just can't stand Hot Shots Golf.

You know what to do. Play that s@!# loud.

Show Notes:

00:00:40 -- Nic Cage needs to fire his agent.
00:04:10 -- Next week's show: Live from Gitmo!
00:14:10 -- Goddamn, people, why haven't you got Netflix yet?!
00:17:35 -- One more joins the rabid "The Wire" fandom.
00:21:40 -- Why is my controller shaking?
00:30:00 -- Hitting up Warhawk again.
00:33:50 -- Hail, Caesar!
00:45:00 -- Nikolai's love/hate of Prey (yes, Prey.)

<title>Play it Loud, je t'aime</title>

<itunes:summary>It never fails. Every time we commit to doing a "short" show, it turns into an 80-minute blabfest. Quantity over quality, folks!

This week, we eschew the second segment in favor of talking about...well,
kind of everything. After an adrenaline-pumping marathon discussion of
Russian cinema and French short film collections, we cover everything from
how tasty burritos are (very), to how awesome it would be to live in Dubai
(very), to how ridiculously INSANE one of the new Personas in FES is
(uh...very.)

You'll want to listen aaaaaall the way to the end, too, as Nikolai decides
on the fly to give away the best prize in Play it Loud! history. Write in,
newcomers!

Show Notes:

00:20 -- WAAAAAAAAAAAALT's ghost: Real, or dead-end mystery?
07:00 -- How would you categorize us on iTunes?

<title>8% Fresh</title>

<itunes:summary>Ahoy!

In a long tradition of not going by our own plans, what was supposed to be a brief, one-segment show turns into a 90-minute extravaganza. That means more awesome material for the fans! Or...maybe just...more footage of us talking.

Proving that you really can keep on beating a horse well after it's dead, we have even more gushing praise for Virtua Fighter 5, a game that's been out for more than a year. We also get into some obligatory Lost talk, Nikolai explains how he turned a pyramid scheme into a method for getting free, Eastern European shooters, Anthony critiques the terrible accents on Showtime's "Brotherhood", and we bring it all home by finding common ground with our audience: we didn't buy Smash Brothers.

What's that? What are you doing with that Captain Falcon statue? Why are you yelling at me? Why are you..

Ow.

Show Notes:

00:20 -- Friday Night Lights 'n Lost talk
05:00 -- Billy Mitchell - King Douche
11:30 -- Showtime's "Brotherhood" is wicked awesome.
17:50 -- Anthony's 10,000 B.C. bet comes back to bite him.
22:40 -- Hook us up with concert tickets, Lupe!
28:15 -- Speaking of drinking a lot...
30:20 -- Hope none of you guys are into Kwanzaa...

54:00 -- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.I.N.G. F.O.R. F.R.E.E. F.T.W.
1:01:00 -- Those issues of EGM might be real valuable in a few years...

1:12:00 -- Yeah...uh...we didn't get Brawl.

1:16:10 -- Tailzo, Play it Loud! Superfan of the week.

<title>Major League Eaters</title>

<itunes:summary>We kick the show off by catching up on Lost and agreeing that Kate looks way better on a desert island than in the court room. From there we move onwards with some thoughts on Apocalypse Now: Redux, King of Kong, and Persona: Trinity Soul.

In video games, Anthony talks about his less than erotic encounter with the Mass Effect girl and Nikolai can't handle all games coming out in 200

There's also a little news but all you need to know is that Nobody knows more about Major League Eating athletes than team P-Lo.

Show Notes:

<title>Dolemite</title>

<itunes:summary>In true P-Lo form, we kick off this week's show with a discussion of "Dolemite", a brilliant piece of 70s cinema that you should all go see. That is, unless you're a no-business, born insecure, jock-jawed muthaf@#$%a

From there, we go on a "lively" discussion of the "megaton" GDC that totally didn't "suck". But, fortunately, some good news did come out of it, not the least of which being APB, the next unbelievable game from David Jones that will totally rock everyone's junk.

And, confirmed after we finished recording, the director's cut of Persona 3 gets a US release...so anyone sick and tired of us bringing up MegaTen games may as well just stop listening to the show for the next several months.

Show Notes:

00:15 -- DOLEMITE!
06:45 -- The Burnout addiction continues...
07:55 -- we called it! Persona 3: FES shall rock our worlds.
14:50 -- Chains of Olympus: yet more reason to get a PSP.

<title>Bling H20</title>

<itunes:summary>From Bling H20 at the top of the show to not one, but TWO performances by rap megastar T-Rex, welcome to a special, thugged-out episode of Play it Loud (or P-Lo, for our fans in the pen.)

This week, we tackle such diverse topics as Carl Weathers' cinema, Spore, D-Wars, Esupio's Super Metroid Blog, mutha-f'in Audiosurf, what's fast becoming a weekly wrap-up of the latest "Lost" episodes, and the mind-blowing, bloody end to the format war. Howard Stringer is pleased.

Oh yeah, and an eight-minute conversation about water. Seriously. That's how we roll.

Show Notes:

00:40 -- This episode is brought to you by...Bling H2O?
04:15 -- Four minutes in...we're still talking about water.
08:50 -- Coffee drinker vs. Tea drinker...BATTLE ROYALE!

<title>Back to Work</title>

<itunes:summary>Kazuma, why have you forsaken us?

This week, in a discussion that will fascinate the other seventeen people who bought "Yakuza", we dissect the game's film adaptation "Like A Dragon." It's...not pretty. From then, we go into an alternate love/hate-fest that covers "Zack and Wiki", "No More Heroes", "PixelJunk Monsters", and "Devil May Cry 4."

Then, in our anemic second segment, we discuss all things Steam -- including our brand spankin' new Steam Community group for those of you that still play games on PC -- and the glorious end to the Writers' Guild Strike.

Show Notes:

00:00 -- A lengthy discussion of Hot Pockets, White Castle, and booze.
07:00 -- Scheduling the podcast is hard!
09:20 -- After a long, long wait for a "Yakuza" movie...boy, was it sure worth it...
19:25 -- Suda 51: The Takashi Miike of videogames?
23:00 -- Zack and Wiki: Amazingly designed, immersive, motherfraking AGGRAVATING game.
26:00 -- While waiting for Devil May Cry 4 to install you could...listen to this show!
29:00 -- PixelJunk Monsters: A punishingly-difficult, PS3-only version of Desktop Tower Defense...that you pay for.
34:00 -- "WE HAVE TO GO BACK, KATE!" That hasn't gotten old yet, has it?
35:45 -- "Game of Death": best (and worst) Bruce Lee movie not starring Bruce Lee.
39:45 -- Sounds like Valve is gaining...steam? I'm sorry, that was uncalled for.
44:00 -- Beginning Play it Loud! shoutout time. Thanks, guys!
47:30 -- As of this week, we no longer have to hire scab writers for the show!
52:25 -- The great "Boom Blox" Schism of the podcast comes to the forefront.</itunes:summary>

<title>En Fuego</title>

<itunes:summary>Three episodes in two weeks? Madness!

This week's madness covers a broad range of topics as Anthony and Nikolai struggle to come up with topics (this episode was taped before Heath Ledger's passing) and as a result, the first segment is a testosterone-fueled mashup of Rambo, American Gladiators, explosions, and painful rites of passage from around the world.

In the second segment, we move on to some vidya-game news, including much warranted Smash Bros-praise (which, if Suda 51 is to be believed, will be the only hardcore Wii game that sells this year.) Then we finish off with a good solid analysis of Cloverfield, and in case it's not abundantly clear already, we're going to be spoiling the entire movie. Things we didn't spoil in the show: Rosebud was a sled, "Planet of the Apes" was set on Earth, Jesus Christ died in "The Passion", and Soylent Green IS PEOPLE!!!!

Show Notes:

00:30 -- Deconstructing the Metal Gear Name Generator
01:30 -- "We don't do a lot of prep work"
02:45 -- 10,000 B.C...Anthony's Movie of the Year?
08:30 -- Bitchin' rites of passage from the Amazon Basin
11:15 -- Intellectualizing Rambo
15:00 -- Meetin' Mayhem from that Gladiator show
17:30 -- Eating crow about "Uncharted"
21:20 -- Explosions and fire are fun!
31:00 -- No idea how you're listening to this show now :P
34:20 -- No More Heroes' unheroic sales
41:00 -- Super Smash Bros Brawl: apparently awesome
43:30 -- MORE price cuts?
46:40 -- Bionic Commando: Rearmed looks SICK
48:35 -- CLOVERFIELD SPOILERS START, latecomers sign off now.</itunes:summary>

<title>K-K-K-Kombo Breaker!</title>

<itunes:summary>WARNING! CHALLENGER APPROACHING!

This week, the Play it Loud! posse is joined by AMN co-creator Sean O'Neill!

After a brief history lesson about the network's humble beginnings, Sean schools us on what this krazy Kombo.com business is all about. Catch all the juicy details on the show today, and tomorrow you'll get to see the awesomeness for yourselves! Sean also drops a few details on some OTHER aspects of the newly-revamped AMN. For example, the mysteriously-named "Blastwagon.com"...what is it? I could tell you, but I won't: listen to the show to find out :P

Programming note: Due to technical issues, we lost our second segment, in which we discussed what we'd been playing. Here's what you missed: we all loved CoD4, Anthony and Sean love "Juno", Nikolai "didn't hate" Fox's "The Sarah Connor Chronicles", and none of us are too excited about WiiWare.

So, how 'bout that there Kombo?</itunes:summary>

<title>Employment</title>

<itunes:summary>Remember when we labelled our last episode "The Comeback?" And how afterwards we disappeared from the airwaves for three months? Good times.

Fortunately, with Nikolai's return from his Internet exile, "Play it Loud!" is back for a glorious, arbitrarily-numbered fifth season. Will this be the year the show finally jumps the shark? Probably, since thanks to the Writers' Guild strike, we don't even have outlines!

Find out what we've been up to during our long, agonizing sabbatical, and be sure to enter our "Name the Season" contest, where you could win a mint-condition copy of the DS game "Pet Alien"!
