The man in his 50s was sweeping the street outside his home near Hampstead Heath when four men on two mopeds pulled up outside.

He attempted to defend himself with his broom as two men clad in black and wearing crash helmets ran into his driveway.

One of the men grabbed his brush and started beating him with it as an accomplice pulled a £60,000 Ferrari watch from his arm.

Then a third rider climbed off his black scooter and ran towards him with a claw hammer as a fourth sped into the driveway on a white bike and chased him out onto the street.

As cars drove along the busy road just yards away, the first robber forced his victim to pull up his t-shirt, ripped a gold chain from his chest and removed a wedding ring from his finger.

The resident eventually managed to return to safety inside his house and closed the security gate as the men jumped on their bikes and escaped. The robbery was all over in 90 seconds.

The victim, a successful businessman who collects rare watches as a hobby, told the Evening Standard he believed he had been targeted because he parks an expensive sports car in the driveway of his £2 million home.

He said he would be leaving the house built by his late father and moving to Italy following the robbery on April 11, three weeks before Watford footballer Alexander Merkel’s house nearby was targeted by four moped-driving robbers who tried to break down his front door.

Gunman shoots worker in Long Island mall robbery: police

An off-duty NYPD inspector shopping for the holidays helped security guards subdue a gunman who had tried to stick up a Rolex shop and shot an employee at the Roosevelt Field Mall Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The mayhem started about 1 p.m. when an unidentified man entered the Rolex shop connected to the Tourneau store on the mall’s first floor and said he wanted to buy a watch.

“He walks to the back of the store with a clerk, he’s talking about financing a Rolex. But then he pulls a gun and says ‘I’m taking the watch,’” a law enforcement source told The Post.

As the robber tried to flee, he was grabbed by retired NYPD detective sergeant Ken Krug, who was working as a mall security guard.

During the struggle, the stick-up man fired one shot that struck a 67-year-old mall employee who was standing outside the store.

Then, Inspector Kenneth Lehr and other security guards grabbed the gunman and wrestled him to the ground, the sources said.

“He’s a full-on hero,” a source said of Lehr, a former commanding officer of the 67th Precinct who now heads up the fugitive enforcement division.

Lehr, 49, was shopping on the second floor of the mall when he heard the gunshot ring out, then saw shoppers running toward him away from the blast.

“The crowd started running toward me like a stampede,” he said.

He ducked into a doorway, as the crowd rushed past him, and then ran toward the sound of the shot, thinking this was an active shooter situation.

“You have to eliminate the threat,” he said of his NYPD training dealing with active shooters.

He saw two men struggling — the retired sergeant and the suspect — and rushed toward them as two other security guards joined the fray.

A pair of handcuffs fell to the floor and Lehr grabbed them and cuffed one of the robber’s arms. He and the guards then flipped him over, cuffed his other arm and took him into custody.

“I simply helped them close the deal,” he said. “I did nothing heroic here. What those three individuals did was remarkable. They did all the work. That retired detective deserves a lot of credit. I was glad I could help in the end.”

Asked whether he continued shopping after the incident, he replied, “Put it this way, I’m done.”
The gunfire caused a panic at the mall, as terror-wary customers bolted for the exits.

Other customers and mall employees locked themselves inside shops or stores’ back rooms.
Macy’s employee Ava Doshi described a “stampede.”

“People were just running. It was chaos. When I saw it I just thought about people getting shot. I just thought, ‘You need to run to the nearest exit,’” Doshi said.

“I was just scared to just get out. That’s what was going through my mind.”

Mark Smith, 47, of Roslyn, was at the Bose store with five employees and five other customers.
“I heard a pop and a loud shatter. It was very scary,” Smith said.

“Instead of running out [the employees] locked the front door and we went to the safe house in the back. At least they had Internet back there so we could actually watch and see what was going on when it was happening.”

The victim was rushed to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

Nassau County cops said during a brief news conference that the incident was a robbery gone bad and had no ties to terror.

“The motive was a robbery; this was not an active shooter,” Acting Nassau police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said.

“We have a significant and very robust detail at the mall. After Paris we heightened our response to soft targets and heightened our number of patrols and maintain that at this time,” he said.

“We have done a number of drills and have a very close relationship with mall security. So they’re well prepared for events like this.”

Nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution, and the mall was temporarily closed but reopened after a massive search by cops and canine units.
