i'm interested in adding a fourth preamp tube in my 80 2203 in order to achieve more gain a "body".
I also would like to calm down highs e mid highs for a 80s hair metal tone and gain.
What can i do?

hi
the mod only lower the value of the input grid res. (from 68K to 39K - one for each input) in order to achieve a darker tone.
The lower the res. the darker the tone and the more "pepper" in the preamp.
Do not remove that res. at all.

Hi All!
I opended my 2203 (77) and see two 39K (orange/white/orange) on V1 pin 2 and pin 6... Two shielded wires are running from input jacks to V1. What is this mod

I have two cabs, 412 B loaded with G12-65 (1978), and 412 slant with G12M (1976), both wired series-parallel. I prefer the 412 B, the slant one is pretty bright to my ears.

Hi
i just bought a 2204 from 1980 and there is a sag resistor mod on it.
A couple of 10R res are between ht fuse an diodes.
can anybody tell me more about this mod?
it gives a good warm tone and i'd like to make it on my other 1979 jmp 2204.
What wattege are the resistors?

Hello all,

I am wanting to add a fourth preamp tube to my metro 2203 Clone. It already has a spot for teh tube, just want to know a simple way to wire it up. Here is a link to my board/chassis layout http://metroamp.com/wiki/index.php/Imag ... IAGRAM.jpg

I have seen layouts on the metro forum, but they are mostly for a 1959 converted to a 2203. With the 4 inputs and slightly different wiring, they are a little tough for me to figure out how I should connect everything
If anyone could take a look and possibly draw me up a quick layout based of this layout, It would be much appreciated!

have you tried changing preamp tubes? Sylvania 12ax7's give a browner sound than a lot of modern types...
