While I was in NYC for the Maloof Money Cup this weekend, Vans held an epic party at the House of Vans in Brooklyn replete with food trucks, skating, tons of beer and ripping metal by High on Fire all to celebrate Geoff Rowley's latest shoe the Rowley SPV (and his birthday to boot!).

I got a pre-release pair of the shoes and I have to say they are the lightest most comfortable shoes I've worn in a long ass time.

Anyways, Vans director Greg Hunt collabbed with Geoff, Tony Alva and RPRT music producing client BARON to do this insane commercial which sums up the history of the Vans brand in a 30-second nutshell...check her out...

Another skate madman add - Andrew Langi

This kid is an absolute madman...Andrew Langi can dominate street and vert and do it with grace despite being 6'14". With a personality of a fun loving (and female loving) party guy, Langi brings joy to any gathering with his missing tooth smile and his ability to turn shit up to 11.

It was announced this morning that French Luxury Brand conglomerate PPR (Gucci, YSL, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen) has just completed a friendly takeover of Volcom to the tune of about $600 million. This is interesting news as the Luxury company buys it's first lifestyle brand (unless you consider Puma lifestyle) which caters to the masses.

With so many clients on the Volcom roster it will be interesting to see if the affects are good or bad. Hope the boys won't have to wear berets and fur coats now...

Stoked to announce my company is going deeper into BMX. In addition to Kelly Bolton we just added 17 year old mega ripper Chad Kerley to the roster. I first noticed him on Fox Fuel's "Camp Woodward" TV show and you could tell he was head and shoulders above the rest. Just a junior in high school (and an A student) Chad already rides pro for Premium Bikes. Backed by Nike 6.0, Kerley is fresh off a best trick win at Simpel Sessions...one of the biggest international showcases for pro BMXers.

First Look - Curad Skate Series Bandages (Proof Sheets)

A long ass time ago (probably 3 years ago) I posted a cryptic post on the Plop about an idea that I had that was sure to be the million dollar idea. I pretty much figured that would be the last anyone heard about another one of my cockamammy ideas but I persisted, and after pitching J and J and the Tech Deck guys and getting no's we got a yes, and now they are finally a reality. Not so sure it is going to be the cause of my early retirement but it will be pretty cool to see them on shelves considering how much time and effort we put into making them a reality.

We (I brought on a partner former pro skater Jeff Kendall) partnered with a massive company called Medline, who owns the label Curad, who had the vision to turn my idea into reality and the product will be nationwide in stores such as Wal Mart, Price Chopper and Duane Reede.

This is the first look of the proofs we got today. Actual boxes of the bandages should be stores starting this week. If you see them, buy a box or ten!!!

Mono Store Launch - Abbot Kinney, Venezia

Last night the good folks (and new client) from Power Support launched their new store on Abbot Kinney in Venice and we were there to revel in the festivities (i.e. free cocktails). The space is insane with a small boutique in back featuring exclusive Japanese iPad, iPhone, Mac and Blackberry accessories and an amazing front courtyard that will be the home to a slew of fun benders in the summer months...

Here is how the night went down!

Cocktails thanks to Ty Ku Sake and hand passed Japanese appies...I had about 10 boxes of these pan fried spicy noodles and an equal number of Ty Ku cocktails...I love drinking on the job!

Being a Japanese company, the generous Power Support team is doing a case for Japan relief through the Red Cross where HALF the proceeds go to efforts. Unprecedented and amazing. Available in Apple stores soon. Also last night MONO donated $2 for each guest that came to the party. This is a company putting their money where their mouth is. Stoked to be involved with people like that.

So I have been doing this blog, that nobody reads, for years now. For the most part I do it out of boredom and as a cathartic way to get some of the voices in my head to shut the fuck up. I think my posts are neither important nor influential in any way, shape or form.

Something that really annoys me lately is the proliferation of bloggers that think they are so gotdamn important. For the most part, in the morass that is the internet, most blogs go unnoticed. Yet, most of these self-anointed journo's (who usually don't even have a high-level grasp of the English language) act as if they are celebrities and that the entire universe hangs on their every word. Go to their blogs...no comments. Alexa ratings...barely even recognized enough to get a rating. It kills me to watch Twitter and Facebook posts from people who you know nobody reads talk about how they are invited to the hottest events and cover the biggest scoops. Just because so D-level celebrity or fashion designer let's you interview them with your Radio Shack microphone/tap recorder combo, doesn't mean that all of a sudden you "hang with celebs."

No matter what you cover...art, fashion, celebs, sports, politics...whatever, for the most part to get real credibility you have to earn your stripes and actually become someone of influence before you claim to be of influence.

Get a job...in the meantime, keep reading the Plop. The well being of the universe depends on it.

Gotta go interview the kid that was the runner-up to the first person voted off of American Idol on season 2. After that...lunch at The Ivy to see if anyone recognizes me. Toodles..

A Lesson in Don't Fuck with Me...

Yesterday was not really a good day to fuck with me. Having been out of the office for over a week, I came back to a heap of calls, a gang of emails, a mound of bills to pay and an advertisement for hookers placed subtly within my pile of to do items...

Anyways, as an agency that handles talent/athletes we are bombarded with requests for charitable donations, charitable involvement and what not. Anyone that knows me knows I love to do charitable things and always push my clients to as well (heck I ran a non-profit for 6 years on my own dime).

So while I was in NYC I got a request for signed items for an online auction for earthquake relief in New Zealand. Having spent two weeks in NZ and having family and my best friend (my brother in law) being from Auckland, the country is dear to my heart (some day I would love to retire there). I am always one to help especially in a time of great need such as Haiti, NZ or Japan. I was brought up to help when people are in need. I often don't sleep at night thinking I don't give back enough.

When I got this request, there was something about it that struck me as off kilter and rather than investigate (which I have been known to do) I emailed back and politely declined involvement citing having donated funds to the Red Cross numerous times in the last few months. This was the reply I got back from one Greg Skokandich:

I find your email unprofessional and what I would expect from an American. Let’s face it hasn’t it been the United Sates that has stuffed the world.

Christchurch doesn’t need people like you as I find you a bloody disgrace I hope one day Hollywood gets done ten don’t come looking to New Zealand for help

Having run a non-profit I know you never turn your back on potential donors. This guy's reply pissed me off so much I decided to go on a plop vendetta and uncover some info. What I found is this guy's name on a New Zealand Scambusters website, on forums for people who buy and sell celebrity autographs and on random dating sites claiming to be different ages ranging from 36-42, yet somehow still being in "uni studying law."

So I basically read this pathetic son of a bitch the riot act:

I am appalled at your reply to me not even knowing a thing about myself or my organization. The way you just responded further raises my suspicions about your professionalism and now it will be my goal to expose YOUR unprofessionalism through my channels. I will be blogging about this response and anybody that knows me knows I am the first to give to relief and charitable efforts. I have family in New Zealand and have, in fact, as a bloody disgrace of an American donated immediately both from my own savings as well as my company’s to relief efforts…the same I did with New Orleans (did you send to the relief efforts here?????) where I also collected thousands and thousands of dollars in clothing and supplies donations though HOLLYWOOD and the fashion industry, Haiti and most recently Japan. In addition, every month I make it my company’s mission to help various charities and organizations both through our bank account and our client’s resources. This month alone we have helped local schools, little leagues, a foster child and the Japanese relief efforts.

You have just offended the wrong person. Scour the web…your name will be popping up soon. The people of the United States, and even the folks of Hollywood you appear to be blanketing with requests, are generous and give back probably more than any other country in the world.

PS – I started and ran a non-profit organization for over 6 years where we raised thousands of dollars for dozens of other organizations. We had over a 99% rate of fund re-distribution and the non-profit was often run operationally on my own personal savings. I never took a penny for my work. You can look me up asshole but don’t ever come knocking on my door again. I will also make sure all these horrible people you are trying to reach in Hollywood also don’t support you. I will also outreach to my New Zealand network and the media contacts I have down there. I plan to do a thorough investigation into you and your organization as well and will expose any inconsistencies that I see to the proper channels. I have done it before…find my blog Plopculture and you can read up on some of my dealings with folks like you. You are up there next.

Interesting to me that you are in Texas and such an ardent Kiwi…why aren’t you on the ground in Christchurch helping rebuild? I would do that in my own community in the face of a disaster.

You may want to brush up on your approach to life and business.

This went back and forth including emails where I revealed what I uncovered about our "do-gooder" and that I was reporting him to IC3 and that my former business partner is a Fed who is always apt to help me stop scammers. Emails of apologies and excuses and threats came pouring in and I even got calls from NZ from his mom (though she claimed to be his grandmother...more lies) with more threats, apologies and excuses begging me not to report him (too late).

Moral of the story...Do good things for others and be humble in glory and defeat. Fuck with me and call him out because you are a pathetic fuck living in Texas with no job or friends and you get the bull's horns.

Global RallyCross Championships - Stop 1

This weekend I went with my friend Ian Votteri to work on the first Global Rallycross event out at Irwindale. We spent three insane days watching some of the best car racing I have ever seen. By no means am I fan of watching cars go around in circles, but GRC takes the best of drifting, off road racing and street racing and puts it into a palatable spectator sport that is nothing short of kick ass. I truly believe this circuit, which culminates at the X Games, is going to gain a ton of momentum and be a huge sport here in the States (the Euros have been on this for decades).

We at the Plop are sick and tired...of just about everyone. However, lately there are some people who just keep showing up and won't go away. Here is a list of folks we wouldn't mind having a reprieve from:

1) The Jersey Shore Cast - they are the worst people on earth and contribute NOTHING good to society and yet they make more money than 99.8% of hard working America. Go away!
2) Those Trump Kids - Dad is a gangster but you are just the kids of a gangster...nobody cares what you think.
3) Black Eyed Peas - I was sure the Super Bowl would be the end of seeing these people but sure enough they keep popping up...EVERYWHERE. Stop...and take Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber with you.
4) Tony Hawk - the laziest cheater in the world. Mainstream media...he is not the only skater alive. Try endorsing someone from the current generation and you might actually get kids to think you are cool.
5) Charlie Sheen - he can take his #winning with an 8-ball of #tigerblood and shove it up his ass. (I know I have blogged about him recently and perpetuated his stronghold on popular culture but it was more of a commentary of my theory on what he is trying to accomplish...yeah I fell into the trap but now I am done.)
6) President Obama - the world is imploding but I hear there is a nice vacation spot somewhere in the Caribbean you can take the fam to on our dime. I HOPE you start to do something soon.
7) Racist Drunk Celebrities - The alcohol doesn't make you a momentary racist, being ignorant and stupid makes you a racist. Fuck off and disappear.
8) Selfish Mother Fuckers - GIVE $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999 you pathetic fucks. People need our help. (Here is a more novel idea...log on to the website and give more...give what you can...this is serious shit.)

The Next Big Thing is Here - Global RALLYCROSS

Not sure if you know this but you know how big skateboarding, fighting and snowboarding are??? Well, the next big thing is about to drop and it is doing it big. Global RallyCross Championships is the first indoor arena Rally series in the States. The sport has been huge in Europe for decades and thanks to the X Games and a bunch of action sports athletes crossing over into motor sports, GRC has been able to find a home at ESPN for their first season. GRC will involve 4 events culminating at the summer X Games and will showcase some of the best drivers in the world going mental on a dirt course that includes a 70-foot gap. You think NASCAR is fun to watch (snooze)??? Watch this shit...it will blow your mind.

The first race will be out at Irwindale on March 25-26 and will feature drivers including names like Foust, Millen and Mirra. I will be there...you should too.

So Charlie is definitely BI-Winning! I have been saying this since the start of all this muckraking that Chuck is pulling off the biggest media heist since Joaquin Phoenix pathetically tried to get us to believe that his antics were real (did any of you REALLY buy that that documentary was real?) .

Plop's theory on this is Charlie got sick and frickin tired of playing the lamely dressed (fucking bowling shirts make me want to vomit) playboy uncle to a pre-post pubescent kid who is no longer cute nor funny and decided to make the whole world care about him again. He has everything he needs: family, money, bitches, fame. He is now going after what he wants: a new career. He wants to sell books, reality shows, chicken, anything...Who wouldn't watch him now? Who wouldn't want to be an observer in the Crazy show? I am first in line.

Having worked behind the scenes in the "game" I have come to view everything sceptically as a stunt including marriages, sexuality, relationships, kids, pets, sex tapes, arrests, etc. What amazes me is how people can believe Charlie has really "lost it" and doesn't know what he is doing. He knows exactly. "It is the drugs talking." "How sad." "Addiction is an ugly disease." BULLSHIT. Fame, power and greed are ugly diseases...Charlie just knows how to combine all these elements and mix them with a sprinkling of pornstars, a few nights of unadulterated mayhem and the desire for popular culture to ravenously consume every bit of gossip and scandal they can get their filthy fat hands on.

Charlie you are winning. I wish I could be invited over to win with you...even for just one night.
