Public Transportation Pass Available to LPC 2014 Attendees

We are pleased to announce that we have made available a transportation pass with the public transport company in Düsseldorf to each person registered for the Linux Plumbers Conference 2014. The pass will be printed on each attendee’s badge and will need to be presented to bus drivers and subway attendants in order to gain free access to transport. Transportation Pass for the First Trip to the Conference Venue

We will be making available via email a one-time use pass for Düsseldorf public transportation that attendees can use to travel from the airport or the train station to the congress center to pick up their badge. This one way trip includes a stop at the hotels. You must print the pass and show it to the public transit personnel to gain access, together with a valid ID. Please remember that the pass is valid for one time only, between Sunday October 12th, and Sunday October 19th. Your badge will serve as transportation pass afterwards. LPC 2014 BoFs Approved

COMPLIMENTARY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PASS
We are pleased to offer a complimentary transportation pass to each attendee for use on the Düsseldorf public transport system. The pass is printed on each badge. Please present your badge together with a valid ID to bus drivers and subway attendants. If upon your arrival, you need to travel from the airport to the hotel and to the congress center to pick up your badge, you can still take advantage of the free pass, by printing the necessary one-trip pass that was emailed directly to you and presenting it to gain access to the public transport. First Day of LPC 2014

Welcome to the 2014 edition of the Linux Plumbers Conference!

Just a kindly reminder that our first day is tomorrow, Wednesday October 15th. This is the day we share with LinuxCon Europe.

Registered LPC attendees can attend the LinuxCon keynote sessions in the morning. The keynotes will be in Room 1, and will run from 9:00AM to 10:45AM. These will include presentations by Joanna Rutkowska and Olaf Kirch, followed by a discussion about future directions of Linux with Dirk Hohndel and Linus Torvalds. To conclude the keynote sessions, a lively kernel developer panel moderated by Jon Corbet of LWN.net.
Following the keynotes, at 11:15AM, we’ll have our shared LinuxCon and Plumbers refereed talks sessions in rooms 8 and 14. Both sessions will run until the end of day.
Also a reminder that we’ll hold the Automotive Miniconf in parallel from 9AM to 12PM in room 12.
All the sessions held tomorrow will be on floor 1.

We hope you are having productive discussions at Plumbers this week.
A couple of announcements for tomorrow, Friday October 17th.

T-shirts: Please pick up your LPC 2014 t-shirt from the registration desk, if you haven’t already received one. Many of them weren’t distributed to the attendees. There is a Linux Plumbers specific t-shirt, in addition to the LinuxCon one.

Transportation: The shuttles between the hotels and the CCD will not be running tomorrow. You can take public transportation to the conference in the morning. You can use the shuttle from the U78/U79 Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstrasse station to the CCD SÜD entrance, and back. The shuttle will be operating betweeen 8:00 and 10:00 and then again from 16:30 to 18:30. Please use this option to reach the evening event as well. No other transportation will be provided. The shuttle departs from the H 4 bus stop outside the CCD SÜD entrance.
