Known as Los Angeles’ “Ambassador of Boogie Funk,” dãm-funk represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere. Headquartered in the Culver City section of L.A., dãm (pronounced: ‘Dame’ as in Damon) spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-’80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk.

As a DJ/selector, dãm attracts the most discerning Boogie Funk afficionados within driving distance of his storied Monday-night Funkmosphere parties. But it’s not just collectors at the bar toasting to the melodic sounds. Anyone who grooves to the likes of Slave, Aurra, early Prince, Prelude Records and the like, will get a dose of those groups’ unknown contemporaries – more obscure but equally Funk-worthy.

The next phase of the Ambassador’s mission: continuing the classic West Coast tradition into today’s scene with dãm’s own original “Modern-Funk” compositions. By plugging in his arsenal of vintage synths and drum machines, dãm channels the galactic harmonies of his inspiration into his own brand of new boogie. Stones Throw Records’ like-minded honcho Peanut Butter Wolf brought dãm on to the team to glide into the future with his unique, synth and bass-driven vibe. It’s a promising new chapter for Southern Cali space funk.

Stockholm club scene stalwart and worldwide record impresario Mad Mats musical endeavors started in the mid 80’s when he left his break dancing career (Swedish champ 1985!) to become one of the hottest DJ’s in Stockholm.

By night when Mats is not touring the world as a freestyle, house, techno or hip hop DJ, he is running the legendary Raw Fusion Club in the heart of Stockholm, together with label associate DJ Asparagus. The club has been running strong for 11 years with diverse guest DJ’s such as Joe Claussell, Jay Dee (RIP), Kerri Chandler, Peanut Butter Wolf, Roni Size, Theo Parrish, Jazzanova, Laurent Garnier, Richard Searling and Carl Craig. The club is still dominating the Stockholm club scene and has become the most important underground dance music institution in Scandinavia.

By day, Mats runs the internationally renowned Raw Fusion label. This record label continues to release essential nuggets that remain permanent fixtures in the record boxes of the most important DJ’s across the globe.

With a DJ career running for 20 years, we know that this open-minded b-boy has got some serious skills. With a remarkable variation he’s played everything from retro funk, soul, jazz & latin sets at Club Neo in Tokyo, soulful house at the Southport Weekender, hip-hop at Turntables At The Hudson in NYC, house & techno at Weekend Club in Madrid, and freestyle sessions at the Electric Chair in Manchester. It’s time again for some VINYL VIBES news. first of all we are looking forward to the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of our vinyl vibes club night in cologne. 10 years in the name of jazz and we are celebrating together with some of the finest and most admirable artists we had the pleasure of hosting so far. the party takes place in a lovely half-outdoor venue called „odonien“ on friday the 4th of july. dj guests on two floors include QUANTIC, JAZZANOVA, ANDY WILLIAMS and others. we are more than pleased about anyone who’s gonna make it to cologne on that day to celebrate together with us. please hit us back if you need any assistance on travel or stay.

“Variations of Time” features such names as Amiri Baraka,Billy Bang,The Return of the Medicine Man, Byron Morris, Avram Fefer, Corey Mwamba, Follow Follow just to name a few.

The album covers a wide range of styles from the 70′s to the 21st century with the Hip-Hop outfit of “Karma & Lotus” and Dub Poet Alumnus Clifton Joseph doing a piece called “A Chant for Monk”.
All the proceeds for the EP & the LP goes to Tyndale St.George’s which is a Community Centre in Little Burgandy in the heart of Montreal. An area which has gone through some difficulties with gang-related incidences which has overshadowed the productive work of the Community Centre. The After School program at TSG has been in existence for over 77 years which might be the longest running After School program on this continent.

In Andy’s own words: “I’ve had the pleasure of being the Educational Co-ordinator for 2 years due to a leave of absense of their well known Director Kim Kidder. It gives me great pleasure to give back to a Community that has welcomed me with open arms. I’m also delighted in seeing how far i can push the envelope in terms of developing their educational resources in terms of admissions to some of Montreal’s famous Private Schools for Higher Learning. This sort of development is integral in making the young ones in the community realize the importance of these rare resources. So with your help and understanding i can further the work in determining a place for some of the individuals in this community.”
